Scarlet paintbrush at Paradise (NPS Photo, 8/2/23) and rosy spirea at Tipsoo Lake (NPS/E. Runyon, 8/1/23).
Perhaps due to the particularly dry weather this summer, subalpine meadows are moving quickly past peak bloom. Look for scattered pockets of dense wildflowers such as along the Naches Peak Trail at Tipsoo Lake on the east side of the park or along the Deadhorse Creek Trail at Paradise.
In these popular areas it is more important than ever to stay on trail! It doesn’t take many steps to trample the wildflowers you are coming to see. Many trails offer great opportunities for that perfect  mountain + wildflower photo. Where are you finding wildflowers?

Malaysia: Land of Indigenous Malay
Which well-known South East Asian nation should you visit? The only challenge left is identifying which of the region's fascinating and diverse nations to select. Of course, there is no incorrect choice; travelling to any of these nations will be an unforgettable experience. However, choosing the ideal trip for you requires you to first understand what you want from your experience and then match it with what shines out about each country.
Here is a good breakdown of some of the highlights of exploring Malaysia.
1. Kuala Lumpur
The capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, is a dynamic, culturally diverse metropolis that is seeing an increase in visitors. Due to the mixture of Chinese, Indian, and Malay residents in Kuala Lumpur, delicious food and English are both widely spoken. The city has a much more to offer than just its skyscraper and shopping malls.
The goal of my first full day in Kuala Lumpur is to acquaint myself to the city in an unexpected way. The city is comparable to Singapore but much less expensive.
Tumblr media
A feeling that made me I am back to India, This place is the one to visit to enjoy Indian food. Small restaurants serving delectable fare will line the streets in the evening. Little India, commonly referred to as Brickfields, is a short distance from KL Sentral, the city's primary train station.
The Petronas Towers are a well-known landmark in Malaysia and the second-highest twin skyscraper in the entire world. These 452-meter-tall towers are lit at night to create an even more breathtaking impression. The Petronas Skyscrapers can be seen beautifully from the KLCC Park, which is located behind the towers.
Tumblr media
2. Langkawi
The name Langkawi, which translates to "eagle red," refers to the numerous red-brown eagles that call Langkawi island home. You can't help but see them while you're on the island. What better way to begin your visit to Langkawi than by soaring over the island?
The night markets begin to operate after night falls. Every evening in Langkawi, a different market with a particular specialty is held in a different place. It's a terrific way to sample some authentic Malaysian cuisine and experience local life as they prepare and sell their wares.
I had a great opportunity to meet a Russian Naval Officer in Langkawi who came to attend LIMA (Langkawi International Maritime Aerospace) Exhibition.
3. Penang (Georgetown)
The most popular tourist destination in Malaysia is Georgetown on Penang Island. The most delicious street cuisine in the nation can be found on the gorgeous colonial streets of Georgetown. This town has a distinct feel as a result of the contrasts between Chinese dwellings and skyscrapers existing side by side. Penang is much larger than just Georgetown, and if you travel a little further, you can discover white-sand beaches, jaw-dropping temples, and monkeys in the jungle.
Without a doubt, Georgetown is the king of street art. The little area around the ancient town is covered in hundreds of murals, which have been combined into one enormous art trail. The most well-known piece is by Ernest Zacharevic, who was hired by the neighborhood council to produce street art that would revitalize old Chinese businesses. His murals, which are frequently accompanied with an actual object to bring the painting to life, tell a tale about Penang culture.
Tumblr media
A museum which is very memorable and tells us about the facts of Georgetown. This is a must try destination as it gave me a lot of memories. Standing next to the pictures in the wall and it felt l like I was in the painting on the wall.
The old and the new coexist in Malaysia's diversity! Discover innovative ideas scattered among historic structures and UNESCO World Heritage Sites, along with a little street art. Due to a lengthy history of colonization and immigration, which introduced many different cultural influences, Malaysia has a distinctive flavor. Everything from cuisine to architecture brilliantly combines these inspirations.
This sums up the entire tour of Malaysia which will be in my memories and must visit country to explore the fusion of all cultures as well as food 😉.

Five cities in Malaysia recorded higher temperatures of between 1.64° Celsius and 6.75° Celsius over the last few decades due to development and changing urban trends, a land temperature study by Think City showed.
Interestingly, the surface temperature in Kuala Lumpur city centre had the lowest increase in temperature compared to Bayan Lepas and George Town in Penang, Ipoh in Perak and Johor Baru in Johor.
The peak temperature increase of only 1.64°C in Kuala Lumpur city centre over a 30-year period between December 1989 and October 2019 was attributed to the efficiency of domestic gardens, parks and woodlands in the city.
Not surprisingly, the hottest areas were around the city centre, Bukit Bintang, Pudu, Chow Kit and Kampung Baru while the least warm were at KL Forest Eco Park, Taman Botani Perdana and public spaces and gardens in Mahameru and KLCC.
Ipoh recorded a peak temperature increase of 6.75°C within a 21-year period between November 1998 and March 2019, the highest temperature increase among the five cities studied.
This was due to an increase in areas with a maximum temperature range — by 245 per cent in 2019 or from 66 km² to 163 km² — that indicated extreme ecological change and urban trends in Ipoh.
Johor Baru (JB) recorded a peak temperature increase of 6.70°C within a shorter period compared to the other cities, at a 13-year period between May 2005 and May 2018.
The study found that there were extensive monoculture activities detected in JB and the city’s rapid gentrification, increased economic corridors and industries contributed to significant temperature rise.
It noted that there was significant temperature rise especially in Kawasan Perindustrian Tanjung Langsat and Pasir Gudang where it rose to over 33°C in 2018.
The hottest areas in JB are Seri Purnama and Pasir Gudang which are confluences for many heavy industries such as transportation and logistics, petrochemicals, electronics, and plastics.
The study also found Skudai and Bandar Johor Baru, where many human activities and businesses are concentrated, also recorded higher temperatures.
Meanwhile, over in Penang, the industrial zone of Bayan Lepas saw a peak temperature increase of 5.63°C between February 1988 and February 2020.
The study attributed the temperature increase to the growth of industries and urbanisation in Bayan Lepas and land reclamation in south-east Penang.
“The land reclamation made way for the construction of Malaysia’s first Free Trade Zone aimed at boosting Penang’s competitive edge to grow the economy,” it said.
The hottest areas in Bayan Lepas are the industrial, commercial and residential areas.
Areas such as the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zones, Diamond Valley Industrial Park, Bandar Bayan Baru, Bayan Indah, Queensbay Mall and Penang International Airport recorded surface temperatures in the highest range of over 33°C.
The least warm area in the satellite city is an unoccupied and non-operational factory located in Lintang Kampung Jawa.
Over at George Town, the city saw a peak temperature increase of 6.37°C between February 1988 and February 2020.
The hottest areas that reached a maximum temperature of over 34°C were Batu Lanchang, Jelutong, Fortune Park Industry, Komtar and George Town World Heritage Site (GTWHS).
“After receiving Unesco World Heritage status in 2008, George Town gained immense traction in popularity in businesses and hospitality services which explains the high concentration of human activities leading to amplified urban heat island effects,” the study found.
According to Think City, the rise in temperature in urban areas has been linked primarily to the urban heat island (UHI) effect, the lack of greenery and global warming.
Think City Geospatial Analyst Ceelia Leong said the urban heat island effect is caused by the types of materials used in cities such as concrete and bitumen, which absorb and re-emit the sun’s heat more than natural landscapes.
“Increases in temperature, linked to climate change and urban expansion is a growing challenge for the liveability of cities, human health and urban wildlife,” she said.
She said satellite imagery was used to map the extent of the heat island effect in Malaysian cities and to observe changes over the past few decades.
She said it was evident that Malaysian cities are getting hotter due to the increased intensity of development, which is compounded by the effects of climate change.
“Secondly, the maps showed that urban greening had beneficial impact, with the ability to lower urban temperatures between two and eight degrees Celsius,” she said.
Think City Managing Director Hamdan Abdul Majeed said that the key aim of the temperature mapping was to get a snapshot of what cities were undergoing and to find solutions to battle the effects of climate change.
“At Think City, the use of analytics is extremely crucial so that we can create strategies and formulate solutions for better cities in an informed manner,” he said.
He said there is also a duty to inform the public as the battle against climate change requires a concerted effort from both the public and private sectors as well as the community-at-large.
“The democratisation of data in this manner, making it easily available through our Urban Analytics Portal is part of our climate response effort and one of the ways that we can alert and educate communities, as we identify solutions and assist communities in adapting to extreme climate events,” he said.
He said it will require all parties, from the government to the private sector to the general public, to take concerted steps to achieve sustainable development goals as this does not fall solely on the shoulders of Malaysia’s policy-makers.
“We aim to continue studies in a similar vein on a regular basis to continue monitoring the impacts of the urban heat island effect and climate change in Malaysia, and to keep finding solutions to mitigate or adapt to the harmful impacts,” he said.

The Shoebill is known from eastern central Africa
Tumblr media
Physical Description: There is no other dinosaur quite like the Shoebill. It is one of the most visually distinctive creatures, with traits monstrous and familiar that make it difficult to really understand exactly what you’re looking at. They stand up to 140 centimeters in height, which yes, is the height of a human being on the shorter side. They can even reach 152 centimeters tall - the same height as a 5 foot tall person. They have very long, skinny legs, with giant toes on their feet that are widely splayed out. Their bodies are huge, with short tails and bulky torsos. Their backs are grey, and their belly feathers are white. Their necks are a lighter grey, and there is some dark speckling all over their wings and right beneath their necks. Their heads continue that light grey coloration, and have small tufts of feathers as a crest on the back of the head. Shoebills also happen to feature yellow, unblinking, perfectly circular eyes, which is unsettling at best. They have heavy eyebrows of feathers over their eyes, giving them a look like they’re always glaring at you - which is even more disconcerting considering the giant, wide, scoop-shaped bill that the Shoebill is named for. The bill is orange, and ends in a small hook, just in case you weren’t terrified enough.
Tumblr media
By Peter Halasz, CC BY-SA 2.5
Diet: Shoebills feed mainly on fish - especially lungfish, though most large fish are acceptable. Amphibians, young crocodilians, water snakes, rodents, and young waterfowl are also fed upon by these giant terrifying creatures.
Tumblr media
By Snowmanradio, CC BY-SA 2.0
Behavior: Shoebills are calculating bastards - they’ll hover around lakesides and swamps with low oxygen in the water, which forces lungfish to come up to breathe - so that the Shoebill can then lean down and scoop them up. They are loners during the hunt, carefully taking each step as they make sure to not sink too far into the mud and weeds where they live. Their lunging after food is hard to miss - their mouths open wide, revealing how huge those bills really are, and giving it a sinister smile. These lunges are usually startling, as the Shoebill is usually still for a very long time before it goes after prey. It is as if a statue had suddenly come to life. This is especially disconcerting when the Shoebill opts for standing on floating vegetation - just casually going down with the current as though they were a giant Jacana. They tend to defend territories for food, at least somewhat, not coming closer than twenty meters to another Shoebill during feeding. They don’t sense their prey with feel, but entirely by sight - making them very unblinking and focused, adding to their strange aura. Shoebills are also usually silent, which just makes their entire aesthetic even more terrifying. When they do dare to make sounds, they make very raucous cries - usually while they fly.
Tumblr media
By Petr Simon
Yes, yes they can fly. Shoebills are some of the largest flighted birds today, which does not help. They hold their wings flat, pulling in their necks to their bodies to aid in making their flight more efficient. They have some of the slowest flaps of any bird, at 150 flaps per minute. They fly only a few meters at a time, and usually prefer to glide as much as possible. The farthest any Shoebill as traveled at one time seems to be 20 meters. As such, Shoebills are not very mobile birds, and they usually only move from place to place based on food availability.
Tumblr media

Shoebills begin breeding depending on the water levels of their habitat at a given time. They lay their eggs when the rains begin to end and the waters start to recede; as such, the chicks hatch and fledge late in the dry season. They nest alone, though there are possible reports that they may form some breeding colonies in South Sudan. They make nests out of grass in a mound that is three meters wide, usually placed on a small island or on floating vegetation amongst dense papyrus. They lay two eggs that are incubated for a month. The chickare cute, fluffy, and grey, with tiny regular sized bills. They then fledge a little more than three months later and, what’s more, usually only one chick survives. The chicks and parents will make whining and mewing to each other to get attention and beg for food. Sometimes, the young will make hiccups as begging calls. The parents are constantly with the young for the first forty days of rearing, only briefly leaving to get food and water or nest material. As the chicks age, the parents spend more and more time away, but they still bring food regularly. The chicks, after fledging, remain dependent on the parents for food for a few more years. They reach reproductive age at around three to four years. Displays often including mooing and bill clattering, which can be accompanied by the shaking of the head from side to side, which is quite the undertaking for a bird with such a large head. Breeding pairs stay together for the season, and break up when the chicks leave the nest. Shoebills can live up to fifty years, which is aided by the fact that they tend to not have predators after reaching full size.
Tumblr media

Ecosystem: Shoebills stick to marshes, especially papyrus marshes and those with reeds and cattails. They will also gather around marshy lakesides, especially near Lake Victoria. They go wherever they can find floating vegetation to stand upon, including ricefields. They tend to go where animals such as hippopotamus go, since the hippo can dredge up food that the Shoebill can then feed upon.
Tumblr media
By Fritz Geller-Grimm, CC BY-SA 2.5
Other: Shoebills are currently considered vulnerable to extinction, with 5000 to 8000 birds thought to be remaining in the wild (though that may be low and there may be as many as 10,000). The reasons for this decline in population is partially due to habitat loss - the Shoebill is dependent on papyrus swamps and other wetland habitats, which are targeted by drainage schemes and other development activities. Animals being brought across these swamps and trampling their young also majorly contributes to population decline. It is a very unique bird and a very popular one, so luckily there are some conservation efforts ongoing, especially in zoos. Some hunting is also contributing to population loss. Despite these conservation efforts, only once has the Shoebill been successfully bred in captivity.

How Take A Trip Between Cities In Vietnam
Not only is it expected to be an ideal place for young people to live, but Vinhomes Grand Park District 9 is also a perfect destination for the elderly. Choosing this place, residents will enjoy a healthy life, a fresh environment, and meet their needs to the fullest. Enjoy life in a quiet and fresh space It can be said that for the elderly, the wish of old age is to live in a fresh and relaxed space, or join a club or exercise together. A peaceful, fulfilling life, surrounded by children and grandchildren is the dream of many residents. Vinhomes Grand Park apartment in District 9 will be a great gift for high-class residents. At the project, the investor always focuses on the value of living in harmony with nature, so the total scale is up to 272 hectares, the investor only spends 20% of the area to build a house, the rest uses most of the area. green landscape design and public works. This is really a green place to live, full of "rare" natural flavors on the market. The open living space is surrounded by large trees and wide open water surface, residents can enjoy the most peaceful and relaxing life. For elderly residents, it is not difficult to find natural green spaces in the project. I am certain they have there been five years ago but not too prevalent that anyone mentioned them. Appears to comprise more issue in HCMC than Hanoi. The two cities have very different atmospheres. HCMC is more of a party place for backpackers. This place is known as Valley of affection and one more popular among honeymooners. This is the wonderful place if appreciate canyoning. For people with canyoning in mind, compared to is after you for you as contain canyoning operators as well who will guide your body on its trip. His funeral was stored in the seminary chapel; we were all now there are. Dr. Bagnall looked gray, as though his own life force had been drained out along with this of his son. It was made by a scene that was duplicated many, many times across our whole nation for those years. This can be a nice way to spend the day with loved ones. The theatre tells of Vietnamese history and legends by applying wooden figures representing individuals and the ever-present dragons. The story is told through music and the puppets creep. https://batdongsan-111.blogspot.com/2021/07/an-cu-vien-man-tai-vinhomes-grand-park.html ">Vinhomes Grand Park I know some teachers who use taking attendance as accuracy practice- especially correcting students' pronunciation- having said that i prefer on this it as fluency practice- not correcting mistakes but always achieving understanding. Either approach is fine, thought my style and design. To teach in Vietnam you should try to provide documentation of different one police record from is the next step. This can be obtained in the local police station. The the best places to find cheap flights to South East Asia is online obviously you can is wise to book nearly 3 months in advance for cheaper fairs. Businesses can also be looking for fares on the Tuesday considering that is pricey new offers are delivered. For regional airlines try Air Asia - region budget airlines with headquarters in KL.

Macam Yes Tapi Bukan
01/21/2020
Location: Melaka, Malaysia
Translation: “Like Yes, But (Still) Isn’t”
Almost two and a half weeks have passed since touching down in Malaysia. To recap, we spent our first two weeks in Bukit Bintang, a district of Kuala Lumpur that can only be described as The Big Apple of the East. All around bright lights and bustling sounds immediately reminded me (and many of my fellow Americans) of New York City. We were certainly overstimulated with the fast pace of the city, its extravagant malls practically on every street, and of course the program information we were learning from 8-5 every day. The excitement of new sights and smells were only heightened over meeting family and friends that I hadn’t seen in a long time or for the first time ever! I cherished these moments of subtle familiarity despite being out of our usual environment and in a completely foreign location. Everyday has been jam-packed with landmark visits, activities, cohort and state meetings, and mentally being “on” all the time. Being around people all day socializing and interacting definitely took a toll on all of us and while everyone found different ways of relaxing to recharge for another full day, I found mine by exploring the city on my own.
Taking it all in, I drew so many comparisons of KL and NYC - taxis everywhere (though in Malaysia they are red and blue), a subway system that certainly has NYC beat, street vendors with the best food, alleyway graffiti, and most notably a huge green park in the center of both cities. Somehow I recognized these similarities immediately. I was comparing the city that I was used to and familiar with to make myself comfortable in this new unfamiliar place. As humans, we look for aspects of situations and environments that we have experienced already to prepare ourselves for the features that are different, surprising, or uncomfortable. I found myself doing this in LAX and Hong Kong, trying to map out the process of entering a new airport and giving myself enough time to pass through TSA and customs. I assumed all airports were as strict as American International airports but found myself at my boarding gate an hour and a half early in HK because I was passed through much faster than expected.
One specificity that greatly differed however was how often I noticed people looking at me. In New York, people are so consumed with their own affairs that many won’t even stop to give you the time of day. They don’t worry about the others passing by. For the first time, I noticed eyes on me as I walked around - perhaps being able to read from my body language that I cannot be Malaysian despite looking Malaysian but yet also rather light skinned and dressed more Western. I can say that comfort set in as individuals initiated conversation in Malay when I went to food stalls, book stores, and banks. I didn’t stand out as much as I had thought I had. Blending in as a local has its own advantages and drawbacks and being in the unique situation where I can falsely confirm my nativeness by responding appropriately without a hint of American accent has brought me some relief.
Seminar sessions on race and identity brought up sensitive ideas and cultural norms. As we move to more rural and less touristy placements, we were told that our visibility as Americans would turn heads and bring some possibly unwanted attention - particularly for our white-passing ETAs. For POC ETAs, past experiences warned us of more overt discrimination and stereotyping. It was expected that many would not consider us “true” Americans and try to dig deeper to discover our ethnic heritage, concerned more about the physiognomy of our identity than the internal American ties we have woven by the ideals, values, and pride we grew up with.
Recognizing my individual adjustment to the country and reflecting on the relationships and connections I made with other ETAs, I’ve begun jotting down a list of situations where I have i)Never Felt More Malaysian, ii)Never Felt More American. iii) Never Felt Less Malaysian, iv) Never Felt Less American. Over the year, I plan to write these as individual posts, drawing on the examples I’ve experienced and how I handled situations I never thought I’d have to.
Please stay tuned! I make my way to Bagan Serai, Perak tomorrow to finally unpack my suitcases and call this town my home for the next 10 months.

Mount Rainier National Park Archives Photo of the Longmire Community Building, circa 1927.
The Longmire Community Building was built in 1927 and is located on the east bank of the Nisqually River, on the opposite side of the river from the main Longmire area. Built in the NPS Rustic style of architecture, it is a timber-frame, two-story building with whole-log posts, beams, and rafters, a stone masonry chimney, and a large, roofed porch. As an excellent example of NPS Rustic design, the Longmire Community Building is individually designated a National Historic Landmark, in addition to being a contributing building in the Mount Rainier National Park Historic Landmark District. Closed to the public, the building serves as a gathering and training place for park employees and volunteers.

some good kl fics for the soul (more under the cut)
a bullet just to meet you (petalloso)
lance spiderman au!
completed (1/1)
“What color are your eyes?” “What?” “It’s just, I can’t tell. I think about it a lot, your eyes and the color. You know how we can only see the barest portion of the electromagnetic spectrum? Even bees can see more of it than we can. I feel like whatever color they are, people can’t see it, like it only exists on you.”
a mighty ocean or a gentle kiss (cityboys)
super soft keith comforting lance
completed (1/1)
"You don't have to keep coming here, you know." Keith frowns, settling back with his hands at his sides. "Are you sending me away?" "No," Lance says, too loud too fast. "Just—you know—you have a choice." Keith lets silence fall back for a moment. Then, flatly, he says; "And I'm choosing to be here."
and, we dream of home (mothpoem)
keith visits lance while he’s with the bom
incomplete (2/3)
Keith feels his breath catch at the sight and has to forcibly remind himself that he’s not staring down a desert mirage, that Lance won’t wink out of existence up close and at exactly the wrong angle. He’s real. Not a pipe dream. Real boy. Blue and breathing. And beautiful, Keith’s brain adds, almost unwillingly. “And beautiful,” Keith mutters ruefully as he approaches at a silent soldier’s tread, and then he has to repress a big, dumb smile.
aprovechar el sol (speaks)
keith meets lance’s family
completed (4/4)
"Because I love you," Lance said, and Keith was floored by the way it just fell out of his mouth like he'd said it a thousand times before, the way it carried the same inflection it had when he said it earlier to each member of his family. "And there's nothing in the universe that could change that.”
better than coffee (anonymous)
keith is a barista and lance suddenly needs boba every day
completed (4/4)
“What’s in a name?” said Lance. “That which we call a rose—” Keith wrinkled his nose (rather adorably, Lance noted). “Don’t call me a rose.” Lance clutched his chest on one hand and held out the other to Keith. “But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Keith is the sun!” Keith pinched the bridge of his nose. “Why did I ever give you my number?”
call me, beep me (orphan_account)
super sweet texting fic
completed (10/10)
(19:12) Update: Muffin is safe. (19:13) We found him in the park with a group of cats. Mildly worried he might be part of a gang. This big one with one eye tried to claw my face off when I went to grab Muffin. (19:20) This is the greatest news I've heard all day.
due west (europa_report)
krolia’s pov on keith’s and lance’s relationship
completed (5/5)
“Why did the blue lion choose you?” Lance’s eyebrows rose to his hairline. He was an expressive boy. He wiped the shock away quickly though, smiling easily as he took a small sip from the drink he held. “Dunno. We had a connection, I felt it the second I stepped into that cave. You know, the one Keith-“ “I know,” Krolia said tersely. “I found it.”
eternity (was in our lips and our eyes) (thespacenico)
post s7 feud episode
completed (1/1)
Lance feels like he's on the cusp of a life-changing revelation. "I told him not to tell you." And this time, Keith doesn't seem to have trouble asking the unavoidable question: "Why?" Lance looks at Keith, and everything falls into place. A life-changing, mind-blowing, head-splitting, earth-shattering revelation.
hearts don’t break around here (klancekorner)
lifetime best friends to lovers
completed (13/13)
“You could do the deep dish pizza place next to the park?” “Deep dish isn't sexy, Snickers.” “Does it have to be sexy?” “Of course.”
hey, mom, i met a boy (mothpoem)
keith sees visions of his future with lance
completed (1/1)
“What did you see?” Krolia murmurs. “Nothing,” Keith answers, voice rough. And then: “Everything.”
home is a feeling (thespacenico)
post s6, lance feels guilty about shiro and keith has nightmares
completed (3/3)
Keith has never felt so vulnerable. But in this moment, his head on Lance's shoulder, Lance's arms around him, he feels safe. He feels home.  He didn't know that home could be a feeling up until now.
if i had one wish (thespacenico)
for keith’s birthday; found family
completed (1/1)
Shiro seems to realize what's happened before Keith does. "You forgot," he says softly.   Keith stares at them. It's his birthday. He forgot his birthday. "Oh my god," Lance says.
just come to me once (laallomri)
keith writes lance letters on the space whale
incomplete (2/3)
Hi Lance. I hope you are okay. Today I hugged my mom for the first time. It wasn’t very good cause she’s kind of awkward about hugs and so am I. But I still liked it. I think I get it now when you said you missed your mom’s hugs so much. I hope you get to hug her soon.
let me melt under the heat of your sun (akaeijis, esbis)
lance and keith fall in love pre-kerberos mission
completed (1/1)
Keith’s lips are chapped, but they yield and they welcome and Lance feels like the ground gives way and he’s trapped in a freefall in slow motion. It’s so warm, the sun in his hands—moths burn up in flames, Icarus hurtles to the ground in a blazing trail, nothing gold can stay—Lance allows himself to burn.
mail me your heart (you already got it) (crystalklances)
basically a love, simon au??
completed (1/1)
You’re making me blush, Red. You don’t even know what I look like, how would you know I’m cute? Either you’re just messing with me, or you really are trying to flirt.
never saw you coming (dimpleforyourthoughts)
E M O T I O N A L   R O L L E R   C O A S T E R
completed (1/1)
If it were anyone else, Keith would figure he’d be dead in a minute. But he knows, as soon as he gives in to the beckoning unconsciousness, exactly what’s going to happen. He’s only been watching Lance’s stupid goddamned martyr complex play itself out for months now. He knows exactly how this story ends.
nothing’s quite as sweet (dimpleforyourthoughts)
keith is a barista and lance volunteers at a cat shelter
completed (1/1)
Keith grabs the collar of Lance’s hoodie and pulls him back down. Keith thinks, please catch me please catch me please catch me. And Lance does.
say my name (and every color illuminates) (talking_bird)
dream soulmate au
completed (1/1)
“Well, that’s what you are, right? My subconscious talking to me? That’s what my aunt says dreams are, but it’s kinda weird that my subconscious hasn’t seen the ocean before since I’ve been around the ocean my entire life.”
the light the water reflects (auras)
the softest and most poetic thing you’ll ever read
completed (1/1)
“You know,” Lance says, “When I think of home, I think of something that makes me feel content and warm inside. Metaphorically speaking.” Lance’s hand doesn’t move from his, even after the other boy dozes off, filling the silence with his gentle snores.  (It makes Keith feel content, and warm inside.)
the love you left behind (thespacenico)
adam, keith, and lance post-kerberos mission
incomplete (1/3)
"Do you still love him?" he asks quietly. Adam laughs softly. "Of course I do." He takes his glasses from the counter and pushes them back onto his nose. "Don't get me wrong, I'm still pissed as hell." Keith snorts, and Adam instinctively brings his hand up to the chain around his neck as he looks back out the window, at the stars. "But, yeah. I still love him. That much hasn't changed."
the stars, the moon (they have all been blown out) (talking_bird)
hogwarts au
completed (1/1)
“You know,” Lance started, voice so quiet, Keith wondered if he even wanted him to hear it, “whenever I conjure my patronus, you’re my happiest memory…” In a ghost of a voice, Keith whispered, “And you’re mine.”
there, nestled against his pulse (hiuythn)
soulmate au that literally murders your soul.
completed (17/17)
The words on Keith’s right wrist say, hey kogane you alright. The words on his left read, stop why are you doing this to me stop it stop it stop
when the lights go out (dimpleforyourthoughts)
date and a fifth
completed (1/1)
“You know,” Keith says quietly, “You’re not a bad dancer. I expected you to constantly step on my feet.” “That may be the nicest thing you’ve said to me all night.” “Don’t get too comfortable there, cowboy.” “Cowboy.” Lance grins, hopelessly endeared.
you’re lucky that’s what i like (zenstrike)
collection of absolute fluff
incomplete (12/?)
“Uh, Lance?” Lance felt his eyelids drooping. “Yeah?”     “I may have asked for tickets to the least crowded movie.”     Lance considered this. “And we didn’t even make out,” he said with a sigh. “...they didn’t tell me no one had bought a ticket.”     Lance smiled.

All The Best For Your New Career In Singapore!
You’ve nailed the job interview or transfer, and are in the final stages of confirming your move to Singapore from China, India, or the Philippines. When you broke the news, you probably attracted no small degree of envy from your friends and colleagues. Many may have told you that Singapore is one of the most sought-after career destinations – ranking even higher than many cities in the western hemisphere.
That’s all true. Singapore was named the 6th best city in the world for work[1], and the best country to live in for 2018. [2] It is also the best country in the world for children to grow up in[3], so if you are considering whether or not to bring your young family with you, the choice is clear: do it.
Naturally, if you are going to bring your family over, it should be for at least a year or longer. And you’ll need a larger place to stay, and amenities like schools and maybe even child-care services. You’ll definitely also want plenty of child-friendly entertainment options near your new residence.
Or if you are single and plan on coming here alone, you’ll want an affordable room with plenty of lifestyle amenities and perhaps some nightlife options to facilitate an active social life after work hours.
No matter what category you belong to, you won’t run short of rental options in the west of Singapore. Comprising Commonwealth, Buona Vista, Ghim Moh, Clementi, Jurong (East and West) and Boon Lay, these are all mature neighbourhoods with plenty to offer.
Check out our guide to how and why you should choose an apartment or room in these localities.
PROXIMITY TO YOUR WORKPLACE
Where you are going to work matters the most in the location you pick, unless you have a car allowance and don’t mind having to drive a little further every day to reap the benefits of a more suburban location, like lower residential density, access to the beach or lower rental rates.
In Singapore though, public transport is sufficiently well developed that you won’t have to travel for more than 90 minutes to get to any place on the island. Here’s what you can expect to find at each town.
Commonwealth (Queenstown)
Commonwealth New Town is a primarily residential township that is part of Queenstown, located in the central-wester part of Singapore. It is the closest in this list geographically to the Central Business District, so you may find yourself considering a Commonwealth or Queenstown room if your new job requires frequent travel between an office in the west and downtown.
The region has a mix of private and public housing, with the balance tilted towards public housing. The town is served by Commonwealth Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the East West line, and about 15 minutes by train to the downtown.
Ghim Moh (Buona Vista)
Going further west, you have Ghim Moh or Buona Vista as the area is generally known. Also primarily a housing estate like Commonwealth, the region has been boosted by business hubs like Fusionpolis, Mediapolis, Biopolis, BASH[4] and the Singapore Science Parks (1 and 2).
These are state-of-the-art commercial initiatives intended to house high-tech, disruptive and research-centered startups and MNCs in the biomedical sciences, infocomm technology (ICT) and media industries, concentrated in one general location.
If you are looking for rental options here, you are probably a knowledge-based economy worker such as a computer programmer, technopreneur or research scientist.  Or, due to the proximity of the National University Hospital, INSEAD, ESSEC and National University of Singapore, you may be a healthcare professional, academic staff or student looking for nearby accomodation.
If so, you won’t go wrong with accomodation in this district, as Ghim Moh and Buona Vista are within two or three train stops away, being served by Holland Village MRT station, Buona Vista MRT station[5], one-north MRT station, and Kent Ridge MRT station – all within 15 minutes of each other.
Clementi
Clementi New Town is a residential township with the West Coast of Singapore as its most notable geographical feature. Because of this, it is considered an ideal place to stay for workers in the marine engineering industries nearby the shore.
The National University of Singapore, School of Science & Technology, Singapore Polytechnic, and Ngee Ann Polytechnic are also within its boundaries, making the township an ideal place to stay for students and the academics who teach there.
Going even further west up is a small town by the name of Pandan Gardens, which is even nearer to the marine industrial area.
Jurong (East & West), Teban Gardens & Pandan Gardens, and Boon Lay
Jurong and Boon Lay is a mixed use area comprising Jurong East and Jurong West, that stretches onwards from Clementi towards Tuas on the east side, and Teban Gardens & Pandan Gardens to the south-west, located close to the western coast of Singapore.
At its north-western-most fringes lies Tuas, a large industrial area that includes Singapore’s second link to Malaysia, the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link[6] causeway, along with numerous shipyards, docks, marine engineering companies, heavy industries and factories. There is also a cluster of oil and gas industries located at Jurong Island, and is home to oil refineries for big MNCs such as Shell, Caltex and more.
The Jurong area is further set for explosive growth with the future relocation of the national commercial port to Tuas Mega Port in 2040, and the completion of the now-delayed Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail.
The region, named Jurong Lake District in the master plan for the district, consolidates of all of Singapore’s container port operations at the next-generation Tuas Port, and will comprise port, logistics and heavy industries, while the KL-Singapore HSR is a strategic project that aims to improve connectivity between Singapore and Malaysia, and enhances business-to-business linkages and people-to-people exchanges.
Development of the Jurong Lake District is projected to create more than 100,000 jobs and 20,000 homes – so if you are thinking of staying in Singapore for the long term, you may want to consider buying rather than renting.

ATL (HOT-LANTA)
looking back, ATL a.k.a. HOT-LANTA is one of very few places that i can see myself living in. i miss it. i think about it. i picture myself living in it.
atlanta is surprisingly green. my first trip driving into atlanta, i thought i was on the east coast. and obviously i was told by many people that atlanta is south, in fact pretty damn deep south and has no business being considered east coast. well, i think it's east coast enough for me. it's green. its curvy. it's peaceful. and yes, i know that my thoughts are an exception.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
atl's got the size right. it's not too big, it's not too small. the only place that feels too big is its airport and yes it is one of the largest airports. it's got direct flight to pretty much anywhere and everywhere. flying in and out of atlanta, you run into shit load of people at the airport. but the friendly officers make sure that you cross from the parking lot into the terminal safely. although the tsa pre line always took more than 10 minutes, although if you get dropped off at some weird ass terminal you end up having to walk and tram for f'ing 30 minutes, it's an airport you sort of kind of want to go back to. oh and, delta is indeed better than united. more efficient, friendlier service (and consistent), better entertainment system, and so on. i can't judge it's longhaul flight but i should be able to come september (and i'm looking forward to it).
Tumblr media
atl is a food city. it's got everything. sushi, hot chicken, korean food, oysters, chinese, etc. you name it, it has it. obviously hattie b's hot chicken is the shit in atlanta (always worth the wait). the optimist happy hour is a must go for their sensual oysters. korean spots like hanshinpocha and yookdaejang are familiar and yet meets the high standards. casual spots like golden buddha and super jenny are always around. but high end dining like georgia boy, mujo sushi and lazy betty are all there too. despite handful trips to atlanta, i never ran out of places to visit. it was always new and familiar, comforting and delicious. it's hard to say that atlanta food scene is better than la or new york, but it's also hard to say that atlanta food scene is very good or great. it's somewhere in the excellent and outstanding.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
atl's got drinks too. the famous red phone booth is always a unique experience - not a speakeasy but hard to get in like a speakeasy. and gentlemen, you better have a jacket or a button down shirt on, or they will make sure you have one. it's a room full of cigar smoke and scent. but more importantly it's got an amazing menu full of cocktails from all generations. they make it right - all of it. and yes, it's got some absynthe as well. i love this place. probably one of my favorite bars in the world (at the level of vesper in amsterdam, pahit in kl, gin palace in melbourne).
Tumblr media
atl's wonderful. although i never lived there, it feels close to me like philly, pittsburgh and la. i want to live there. well i guess if i really want to then i will try to make it happen at some point in my life. perhaps i will. perhaps i will not. who knows what life has in store.

10 Design reveals scheme for a large-scale masterplan located in Downtown South Raleigh, North Carolina for Kane Realty Corporation. The mixed-use development comprises offices and residential areas in addition to hospitality, retail and leisure space. The proposal includes the design of a 20,000-capacity football stadium and a VR centre designed to further enhance the urban development of the south end of Downtown Raleigh.
Connectivity is at the core of the scheme. 10 Design has ensured seamless accessibility from Downtown Raleigh through the creation of a bridge loop that encloses the entire development, providing efficient circulation from in and out of the site and with the rest of the city. The scheme will be a positive connection to Raleigh’s extensive greenways system and local historic neighbourhoods.
Situated in the ‘City of Oaks’, the masterplan draws inspiration from the organic patterns of the trees and retains most of the existing vegetation across the site, which also creates benefit by reducing noise and cleaning the air from the bordering the I-40 Interstate Highway.
10 Design’s vision for Raleigh is to develop a new borough that builds upon the emerging creative industry of the East Coast by providing brand-new homes and public areas for the community and contributing to the reactivation of the southern district of the city, complementing the research triangle to the north of the city. The project ties in with the development of the BTR network to the south. It will generate new job opportunities for the area and create a lively neighbourhood that supports the city’s culture of technology and sports, as well as its large network of parks.
The masterplan’s series of mid-rise buildings are positioned across a central pedestrian walkway and pocket parks, creating a vibrant retail and F&B street that creates a small-scale neighbourhood within the development. The project has been developed by 10 Design’s Miami office and led by Design Partner, Ted Givens, and Managing Director, Alejandro Hoch.
Ted commented: “Raleigh represents an important milestone for 10 Design, as it is our first major project in North America. It is particularly special to me, as it allowed me to transfer a lot of the learnings I gathered from many years working abroad in Asia and around the world, to my hometown in North Carolina. The design for Raleigh provides a mix of simple buildings that merge with the natural landscape and iconic pieces that activate the masterplan.” Alejandro said: “”Working alongside Kane Realty in developing Downtown South has been a key factor for a successful delivery. We are happy to see our collaborative efforts come to fruition in the design of a masterplan that will contribute to the reactivation of the southern district of Raleigh.”
After spending most of his career working in Asia, 10 Design’s Ted Givens has returned to the United States, bringing experience of delivering international projects including Shunde Rural Commercial Bank Headquarters in Foshan, China; China Resources Sungang MixC Market Hall in Shenzhen, China; and KL Gateway Mixed Use Development in Malaysia to name a few. Ted teaches design studios at the University of Miami and leads the Miami studio alongside Alejandro Hoch as Managing Director. Other upcoming projects in the American continent include the projects in Cary and Sanford NC, Philadelphia, Miami, as well as work in Paraguay, Uruguay and Colombia. The Miami office is also developing a home typology designed for the southeast that is hurricane proof, flood proof, and able to purify the air naturally.
