Wrinkle-faced Bat (Centurio senex)

Conservation Status- Least Concern

Habitat- Central America

Size (Weight/Length)- 25 g; 65 mm

Diet- Fruits

Cool Facts- Yes, that really is what they look like. The wrinkle-faced bat is made to eat fruit. Their skull is flattened, unlike most species of fruit eating bats, and their jaw force is very strong. In fact, the wrinkle-faced bat has the strongest bite force of any leaf-nosed bat. This allows for the bat to target harder fruits when soft ones are unavailable, helping them to outcompete other bats. During the mating seasons, males gather in massive leks to compete for females. The smelliest male often attracts the most females as a sign of good health. In addition, males have unique flaps of skin under their chin that they can fold over their face to form a mask that drives the ladies wild.

Variety of July 25, 1956. Their divorce. But from what is written here it would seem like a purely professional divorce. We are talking about a friendship that is still intact and I repeat this is dated July 1956! Brown Booby (Sula leucogaster)

Conservation Status- Least Concern

Habitat- Central America; South America

Size (Weight/Length)- 1.2 kg; 85 cm

Diet- Fish; Squid

Cool Facts- The brown booby is the most numerous species of booby. Living in small flocks, boobies spend the majority of their lives hunting along the coasts of Central and South America. Brown boobies use any item they can find to create nests, often incorporating plastic over seaweed. Massive nesting colonies fight for nesting space where each female lays two eggs. Of the two, only one chick survives with the chick that hatches second only surviving if the first dies. While not monogamous, booby pairs will stay together for a few years and raise several chicks before parting. Being heavy bodied, brown boobies use wind to take off from the ground.
