I spoke of an AU where Yusei ends up in the new future for reasons unknown (aka I'm still trying to think up a proper reasoning) after sacrificing himself to stop the Ark Cradle from falling and the members of Yliaster, who all somehow get their memories back, find him and help him find a way back without fucking up the timeline, but I'm just now getting to my interpretation of the four future bois new lives.

(Text for those who, very understandably, can't read the chicken scratch that is my cursive)

Paradox: Historian & Scientist, also hella good duelist, will ramble about history and science to no end, psychic duelist

Aporia: Lil rebel with heart of gold, Mama's boy and will bite you if you say anything bad about his mama, retains his "done with everyone's shit" moments from Jose

Z-one: Very famous scientist, a bit shy but won't hesitate to hurt a bitch, plays Vylons, sought out his friends for a reunion and bawled like a baby at them also remembering everything

Antinomy (Aka Johnny & Bruno): Got split into twins, Johnny is all about dueling and has NO chill, Bruno prefers repairing duel runners, both have puppy energy

Howdy! I got a question about le Pizza AU: what was Paradox and Bruno's dads like when they were alive? :O This has been on my mind for a long while!

YES oh this is a great question, been itching for an excuse to talk about the Pizza AU College Polycule

SO for the purposes of the AU, Bruno's dad (Johnny) and Paradox's dad (Malcolm) are both sort of the equivalent of the "original" human PDox and Antinomy in the 5D's timeline, so that's a fun space to think about and play around in.

Johnny Borrelli was just this vibrant, endlessly enthusiastic guy, so fun to be around, really kind of an emotional core of the Iliaster polycule imo. Huge fan of cooking and formula 1 racing, just kind of this big friendly jock, and a really sweet dad too ;___; idk if he was actually in college like the other 3 Stars or just hung around campus while working at an auto shop and trying to pursue a professional racing career (to middling success.) I think he and Zone met in high school and that's the catalyst to everything.

Malcolm Sinclair (lmao) was a more subdued, bookish kind of guy and probably a little bit of a weirdo (slash pos.) He majored in Physics and before he died he was working a pretty decent researcher job at a lab in town. Bit of an absent-minded professor type, quiet but quick-witted and hard-working, big fondness for museums and sci-fi and time travel fiction (which definitely rubbed off on Paradox as a child, beheheheh). He met Zone because they had a shared course or two in the same part of campus and hit it off.

Their presence definitely helped balance out the Iliaster foursome and their Collective Weirdguy Magnetic Field. I think both of 'em, Malcolm especially, helped Aporia feel welcome into the group, being a latecomer and all (and also like. the youngest of the four dfshghfg he's their pet college freshman he does tricks)

ok but uhhh time for a post about team delta, a pro riding duel team from italy 

led by the charismatic [gio]vanni (johnny) borelli, the other d-wheelers are ruben farro and mimi vespa. their d-wheels are delta eagle, omega hawk, and sigma kite respectively. ruben had the idea for “greek letter, bird of prey” name pattern, and honestly it’s a solid pattern, so they ran with it. and yes, all of the d-wheels have a similar structure, where they go really REALLY fast. talk about adrenaline junkies. 

team delta’s own super mechanic was aurora lamont, who also happened to be vanni’s fiancée. she also happened to be the wealthy heiress to lamont motor co (but preferred to work as team delta’s mechanic), her company is behind the design and manufacturing of the unique d-wheels that team delta used.

known for their synchro summon tactics, all three d-wheelers were capable of clear mind and accel synchro, but only vanni and mimi put accel synchro to use. the team was well loved, very much a fan favorite. they had many sponsors, and when they entered the WRGP, basically everyone assumed they’d come out on top, which they did. 

team delta had a similar start as team taiyo, as in “some kids decide lmao let’s go be d-wheelers” with no real plan aside from that. the difference is that they had a fair amount of rare cards, but they still started out as some unknown group of teenagers. and they didn’t always win at the start. they weren’t like legendary teams of the past when they began- they lacked the cohesive teamwork of team unicorn. they didn’t have the divine advantage of team ragnarok. and they sure weren’t team 5ds, but they were determined to make a name for themselves. and they did; they also got their shit together and by the time the machine emperors came to destroy everything, they worked like a well oiled machine. 

as shown, vanni played a t.g deck focused on synchro summoning and then accel synchro- the way he duels as antinomy against yusei is the same tactic he used as a pro duelist. he was the ace of the team because of his mastery of accel synchro, and the later development of delta accel synchro. he was usually third wheeler.

ruben ran an ice barrier deck, and boy was that obnoxious to other teams. mostly because brionac and trishula are uh. sorry to the opponent cards on the field, so long as ruben has cards in his hand, he’s going to yeet your field ... also dewloren does the same thing as brionac but gains attack points on top of it?? he was usually first wheeler. 

mimi ran crystrons, which means she was doing the same thing as vanni, slamming out monsters for rapidfire synchro summons. and similarly, she used accel synchro. she was usually second wheeler. 

ruben died first, pinned under rubble when a machine emperor wisel attacked the apartment complex he lived in, he succumbed to the wounds he sustained. he was 27. mimi survived to the age of 48 using clear mind and accel synchro, but sigma kite didn’t make the jump over the open earth. vanni died at 82 as one of the last survivors of the human race. by this point, he had taken the identity of “antinomy”. aurora died at 26, not long after the machine emperors came in response to the city’s moment reactor spinning out of control. vanni blamed himself for her death and never really recovered from the heartache. 

anyway, team delta was great and they deserved better thanks for coming to my tedtalk

What would anime decks be like if they used OUR ideas of “good deck construction” instead of their ideas of “good deck construction?” And didn’t respond for jack to the feelings of the user?

Sigh.

I'd still point out 'feelings of the user' is still just flower-y language in many respects to "I built a good Deck, a good Deck gives good results". That infers good Deck Construction.

And it's getting to the point it feels like you're asking me a leading question. You want a specific response or answer, and you're getting mad you're not getting it.

Maybe more consistency pieces? Like more standardized Deck Building with access to more regular pieces, similar to ours is effectively VRAINS, SEVENS and GO RUSH!!, essentially, plus minus points below.

But your question is basically trying to brute force an answer out of me that:

A) I don't have a complete knowledge of their game's database or list of cards.

B) Doesn't account for the fact that in the original manga, there was some weighing and discussion that it was difficult to get some cards (as the original manga was heavily playing on the era of 90s Magic the Gathering and the age of The Power Nine and the overall expensive secondary market).

C) Please keep in mind that for like series like the original manga and 5D's/GX's manga, there was a tendency towards unexplained, or unwritten effects for Kazuki and Hikokubo to add in narrative suspense and surprise (and during the original volumes and Duelist Kingdom, there was implications that board placement and the sort of game map board you were playing on was JUST as important as the cards you owned)

D) Keep in mind things like player psychology. Yugi and Grandpa are meant to be representative of more budget minded players who might have a few small power cards, but are getting by on good Deck theory and actual combos that compensate for the fact they don't have actual combos, while Kaiba is like representative of a kid who can afford tournament grade power cards, but maybe doesn't have the best Deck design thought or process at least early on.

(Basically financially a Spike but he tended to bias towards Timmy behavior, while Yugi gets by on being a middle class Johnny, for example, while Joey has tactics kicked into him, he's still a poorer player relying on trades, some cards from his slightly more financially well off friends, and luck from pack pulls.)

E) A fair number of Duelists are restricted by the fact there's a fairly strong bottle neck of there only being one to a few copies of cards in the world. (Blue-Eyes White Dragon, the God Cards, Super Polymerization, the Dragons from ARC-V, the Numbers, the Sacred Beasts, the Ignis having a monopoly on Cyberse, etc.)

Ultimately, I don't think there is much difference in Deck Construction from ours, on basic principles? Like it gets lost in spin-offs, but for like the original manga, a lot of the cast are playing professionally with limited resources, and they have way different rules and supply and effects than ours.

I don't think I'll be responding to follow-ups of this, as it feels like it's getting overly belligerent.
