The Evil Dead franchise delivers once again. I must admit I didn't like it quite as much as the 2013 reboot, but it was still as fun as any fan would expect from this series. Changing the location from the usual cabin in the woods to an apartment was both smart and refreshing. It's obvious this move gave the director a lot more freedom when it came to coming up with new gore and horror scenes, and the film never feels like "been-there-done-that". That being said, I did think it was a bit... tame, not as wild as I expected. Because of that, I guess the movie felt more "normal" than the previous reboot or the original trilogy.
That's not to say this isn't a Evil Dead movie. As always, the deadites get a ton of killer one-liners, and some of the gore scenes came straight out of my nightmares. The cast is absolutely game for the whole thing (with Alyssa Sutherland being the MVP), and you can tell the people playing the deadites had a great time doing so. At this point, it's clear that this franchise hasn't run out of steam at all, and I'm looking forward to wherever they go next, cause this team definitely knows what it's doing.
TL;DR – A good case study of what happens if you go to max-intensity right from the start and stay there.

And, the naturally question, has been addressed six ways to…
