Since 2016
Do you vote in political elections?
Yeah, since I got back to MA. I like the process. I used to be soooooo more vocal about my thoughts on issues, and, if I’m being honest, I feel as if I still should be, but I stopped because discourse on issues sucks and is isolating so I try to be agnostic with it online.

Revisiting Life of Pi - film and text.
Today I logged the 2012 Ang Lee film “Life of Pi” based on the 2001 book of the same name. As I wrote in my letterboxd entry, I’ve seen the film upwards of 14 times now (I’ve been teaching the book and pairing it the film for the last seven years to a minimum of two classes a year -sometimes three). Here’s what I wrote for the log:
For those unfamiliar with the story, the surface level tale is…

Throwback Thursday: Nicotine
Nicotine
After spending the month with NaPoWriMo, I’ve been rereading some of the poetry I have on here. This one stood out to me last night.

"A little more" | 100 words
What gives you direction in life?
Her knees were starting to chafe. She had been there well over an alter and was having trouble focusing. From the small breezes of wind each time someone opened a door to the sounds of people stepping in and out of pews to all the divergent thoughts racing throughout her mind, this process was not going well.
“A little more,” she was unsure if she was reminding…

Fragments - The Full Collection
I noted in the closing poem yesterday that I intended for this series to almost be like a collection of blank verse essays. While it didn’t really turn into that, I do love the pseudo-diary of verse that I have collected. Here are the poems from the month.
There going to be ordered by number, but the numbers are definitely not going to…

Love will save the day
Do you have a quote you live your life by or think of often?
Whether it be in writing or how to treat people, “love will save the day” is a bit of a mantra for me.

Letterboxd: Bandits (2001)
One of the habits I have in this movie-watching quest is randomly scrolling through selections on Amazon Prime, trying to see if anything jogs my interest or I find lost treasures. Cut to this weekend when I found Bandits, a 2001 film by Barry Levinson. This was a movie that used to be a favorite, something I would stop at on a bored Sunday, and I was elated when I found it in the…

Christmas
What is your favorite holiday? Why is it your favorite?
Without a doubt, my favorite holiday is Christmas. I spent a little bit of time going through former posts to see if I have explained why before, and while I didn’t explicitly do that, there is enough that paints a picture.
I guess I like a season where people are hopeful (even if it is in a contrived way as a product of capitalism). So…

Fragments | Closing
My intention with this series of poems
Was almost to write a bunch of essays
On the things I find to be important
In my life and the viewpoints that I have.
What it became was a diary. A
Series of notes where I attempt to be
Honest with how I am feeling and what
I am thinking. I don’t know if I am
Happy with the end result, but it was
the beginning of an exploration
I look forward to…

NaPo Day 30 | Don
It’s done! 30 days of NaPoWriMo. Kind of exceptionally happy I stuck with it this year. Check back tomorrow for posts with links to all 30 NaPoWriMo prompts and the Fragments series. As for today, here’s the final submission, “Don.”
I have always wanted to be a knight.Knights were heroes – they stood for something … acode of honor, a sense of romantic … pride?
They were symbols for the best you…

NaPo Day 29: Antithetical
I know it might sound antitheticalbut sometimes I think none of this matters:That my wish to be remembered through somedegree of written beauty feels quite forced,As if I’m feigning a degree of self-serious significance. Sometimes, even through this new deluge of writtenexpression, I wonder if I am justchasing airplanes, thinking I can fly. Lie.
But. I log back on. And I keep writing.
What?!??!…
