Kosovo Serb police officials who resigned from the police over the weekend as part of a mass resignation alongside MPs, mayors, judicial officials, have continued resigning, with officers handing over their weapons and cuffs on Monday.
Over 20 Kosovo Serb police officials who resigned over the weekend handed over their weapons and cuffs in bags on Monday morning at the regional police station in the Serb-majority municipality of North Mitrovica.
Serbs resigned from state institutions in four Serb-majority northern municipalities of Kosovo on Saturday, claiming that EU-mediated agreements between Serbia and Kosovo in Brussels are being breached.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Sunday evening dismissed claims that Serbs from North Kosovo left institutions “on the orders of someone from Belgrade” as “senseless”. He said this decision was not easy for them, but that Serbia would “take care of them”.
“The state of Serbia says, and we say that, we will take care of them, that’s a new 50 or 60 million euros for us, we will do it all”, Vucic told the Hit Tvit TV show on Pink Television.
“It’s not easy [to leave] but no one wanted to stay without being with their people, people feel it at every step,” he added.
Vucic said that, “if the Americans are smart enough and fair, they will tell KFOR and EULEX to do police work in the north, and I think this can contribute to the preservation of peace”.
“If they think the []Kosovo] Albanians will come to organize life in the north, and they have no right to do so, neither according to the Brussels Agreement nor according to the will of the people, I am afraid that will lead to a disaster,” Vucic said.
The resignations came after a meeting in the town of Zvecan organised by the Belgrade-backed Kosovo Serb party Srpska Lista.
The move came two days after the regional director of the Kosovo Police for the Serb-majority north, Nenad Djuric, was suspended for calling for resistance to government orders.
During the meeting on Saturday, Kosovo Serb police commanders took off their uniforms. The meeting was followed by a peaceful protest in North Mitrovica on Sunday and further resignations, including by the border police, which continued on Monday as well.
Kosovo PM Albin Kurti on Sunday said that Serbia’s attempt to destabilize Kosovo “will be unsuccessful because our state is strong by being democratic and aligned with the EU, USA, and NATO”.
“It is possible that they do not want to engage constructively in [EU-mediated] dialogue and have now chosen this other path. But, I believe they are listened to by many different illegal structures rather than the citizens of our country of Serbian ethnicity,” Kurti continued.
As of Monday, work continued normally at the border crossing between Kosovo and Serbia, Jarinje despite the resignations. On Sunday, around 26 Kosovo Serbs in the Kosovo border police in Jarinje handed over their weapons and other police equipment.
BIRN reports that special border police as well as two vehicles of the EU rule-of-law mission in Kosovo, EULEX, are present to maintain rule of law. NATO peacekeeping forces KFOR also patrol in the area.
Moreover, the public relations directorate of the Kosovo parliament announced on Monday that the 10 MPs from Srpska Lista, also handed in their resignations. According to the Constitution, 10 seats are designated for the Serbian community.

Serbia sets up dinar ATMs near border with Kosovo
The Serbian government’s Kosovo Office announced on Monday that the Serbian Postal Bank has opened four improvised bank branches near border crossings with Kosovo where Kosovo Serbs can withdraw their income from the Serbian state, such as salaries and pensions in dinars.
According to the statement, the Post Bank of Serbia opened branches in the Serbian part of the Jarinje, Bërnjak, Končulj and Merdare border crossings. The statement said:
In support of citizens, the bank sent two mobile branches with wheels that will be available at these locations according to the citizens’ needs.
It adds that “this technical solution is temporary until the normal functioning of payment transactions in the Serbian areas of Kosovo is established”.

Vojska Srbije gomila topove nadomak kosovske granice, javila se i Moskva: Situacija nije daleko od rata
Vojska Srbije u blizini graničnog prijelaza Jarinje prema Kosovu u ponedjeljak je postavila nekoliko dalekometnih haubica. Kako to obično biva, javila se i Moskva, čija glasnogovornica Ministarstva vanjskih poslova Marija Zaharova kaže kako 'situacija nije daleko od pravog sukoba velikih razmjera'.
Kako javlja Nova.rs, Milan Mojsilović, načelnik Generalštaba Vojske Srbije, sinoć je hitno krenuo u Rašku nedaleko kosovske granice, a potom se i artiljerija uputila prema prijelazu.
'Situacija je komplicirana, kompleksna, zahtijeva prisutnost Vojske Srbije duž administrativne linije, a u narednim razdobljima Vojska Srbije, kao jamac mira i stabilnosti, bit će usmjerena na izvršenje svojih zadataka', rekao je Mojsilović za Pink.
Provladini mediji u Beogradu sinoć su izvijestili da se u Zubinom Potoku čula rafalna paljba, a neki navode da je došlo do razmjene vatre između lokalnih Srba i kosovske policije. Kosovska policija priopćila je da nije bilo incidenata između njezinih pripadnika i bilo koje skupine na sjeveru Kosova.
Predstavnici Kfora potvrdili su da je u Zubinom Potoku došlo do pucnjave, ali da u tom incidentu nije bilo povrijeđenih, niti je pričinjena materijalna šteta.
Na redovnoj tiskovnoj konferenciji, događaje na Kosovu komentirala je i glasnoogovornica ruskog ministarstva vanjskih poslova Marija Zaharova.
'Novo zaoštravanje koje je izbilo u pokrajini uvjerljivo pokazuje da odstupanje od sadašnjeg regulatornog okvira za Kosovo (i Metohiju) samo provocira prištinske ekstremiste. Situacija nije daleko od pravog sukoba velikih razmjera', rekla je Zaharova.

Ruska TV kuća Russia Today emitirala je posebnu "dokumentarnu" emisiju u kojoj zagovara razbuktavanje ratnog požara na zapadnom Balkanu.
Dokumentarni program ovog medija pod zapadnim sankcijama potrudio se da uznemiri region.
"Moj sin i druga djeca će živjeti u jednoj zemlji apsolutnog mira, gdje su sve srpske zemlje sabrane, od srpskog mora, preko srpske Bosne, srpskog Kosova...
Kao što Rusija uspijeva da denacificira, demilitarizira i oslobodi ruski svijet, tako i mi Srbi imamo pravo, kroz specijalne operacije, da stvorimo srpski svijet koji će koji će živjeti u miru i slobodi", izjavio je u emisiji RT-a Miša Vacić, srpski ekstremni desničar.
RT je cijelu emisiju posvetila srpskim ekstremistima, ali je program garnirala i izjavom patrijarha Porfirija o "kristalnoj noći u Zadru" i vatrenim govorom Aleksandra Vučića u kojem on najavljuje da će se Srbija suprotstaviti NATO-u i Zapadu, jer "više nemamo kud".
U emisiji se stalno provlači opasnost od izbijanja rata i on najavljuje za tri, šest mjeseci ili narednu godinu.
"Pucnjava na graničnom prelazu Brnjak, kao prije stotinu godina u Sarajevu, gotovo je dovela do globalne krize", ističe RT na početku priloga govoreći o prošlomjesečnim barikadama kosovskih Srba na graničnim prelazima Jarinje i Brnjak, nedaleko od Sjeverne Mitrovice.
Vaci�� se citira i kada goviri:
"Vrijeme je da se pitanje Kosova riješi kako je Rusija uradila s Krimom".
Citira se još jedan srpski ekstremist:
"Nećemo ostaviti ni jedno dijete, makar ono živjelo u Crnoj Gori, Bosni i Hercegovini, na Kosovu. Dužnost naše generacije je da osiguramo da niko ne bude ostavljen, niko zaboravljen". Mnogo ratnih veterana je sa nama, mnogo ljudi koji su prošli Siriju, Ukrajinu, bombardiranje 1999.", kaže za RT Damjan Knežević, osnivač paramilicijske formacije Narodna patrola.
Ovoj formaciji RT daje značajnu pažnju.
Ističe se i da oni napadaju i migrante u Srbiji.
RT je provela noć s Narodnom patrolom i snimila njihove "provjere" migranata.
Knežević je u razgovoru s ovom TV kućom kritičan i prema vlastima Srbije. Smatra da je "puno ljudi postavljeno na pozicije, a da su naklonjeni Zapadu.
Za ovaj program govorio je i ruski ambasador u Srbiji Aleksandar Bocan-Harčenko.
On je inače na ovu poziciju došao nakon što je duži period službovao u Bosni i Hercegovini.
Harčenko je najprije objasnio zašto Rusija traži da otvori vojnu bazu u Srbiji.
Za RT je rekao da se radi o protivteži američkoj, odnosno NATO bazi Bondstil, na Kosovu.
Istakao je da zvanična Moskva traži, ali ne i insistira ili nameće vlastima Srbije otvaranje svoje vojne baze u toj zemlji.

Vojnici KFOR-a pojavili su se prije sat u blizini administrativnog prelaza Jarinje gdje su već osam dana stacionirani pripadnici specijalnih jedinica kosovske policije.

Nato troops patrol Kosovo-Serbia border after truck blockade
JARINJE: Soldiers with a Nato-led peacekeeping mission are keeping watch at the Kosovo-Serbia border after the two countries reached a deal to deescalate tensions triggered by a dispute over vehicle license plates.
Kosovo Force troops from the United States, Italy and Poland were seen patrolling on Saturday as ethnic Serbs removed the trucks they had used to block the road to two border crossings while protesting the Kosovo government's decision not to allow vehicles with Serbian license plates into the country.
Kosovar special police forces also pulled back from the border, where they were deployed two weeks ago to remove the license plates from entering cars and to replace them with temporary registration in Kosovo.
The government in Pristina said they were replicating what Serbia had done to Kosovar motorists for a decade. Kosovo was a Serbian province before it declared independence in 2008, and Serbian troops and ethnic Albanian separatists fought a bloody war in Kosovo during the 1990s.
European Union mediator Miroslav Lajcak persuaded representatives from the neighboring Balkan nations this week to let the Kosovo Force (KFOR) troops take over the areas for the next 14 days.
"As from this weekend and for the next two weeks, KFOR will maintain a temporary robust and agile presence in the area," a statement from the Nato mission said.
As part of the agreement, both countries will put stickers over the other's name and emblem on license plates of vehicles entering their territory.
KFOR, made up of around 4,000 troops from 28 countries, is led by Nato with support from the United Nations, the European Union and others. Its aim is to stave off lingering ethnic tensions between Kosovo's ethnic Albanian majority and minority ethnic Serbs.
The United States and most of the West recognize Kosovo's independence, but, Serbia, supported by its allies Russia and China, does not.
EU-facilitated negotiations to normalize relations between Pristina and Belgrade started in 2011 and have produced more than 30 agreements, which are either observed poorly or not at all.
