people give english dub voice actors a hard time and truth be told sometimes they're not on point but I think we need to blame the translators more often. like you can't read these lines and sound cool when the translator did not do a good job of that.

Just finished G-Witch, it's an excellent show but the best part was going back to episode 10 and flipping through all of the sub/dub options to see how the 'Suletta wasureta'/'Suletta forgetta' joke was translated in different languages. The winner so far is probably the Brazilian Portuguese subs and dubs, for both of which the pun was translated as "A Suletta esquecetta".

(I am a little confused about the French (Soûlez pas, Suletta) and European Spanish (Suletta... necesita una chuleta) translations-- I'm guessing I'm doing something wrong by taking them super literally, so if you speak French or Spanish and/or know the cultural context or metaphorical meaning that makes either of these funny, please tell me! I'm curious!)

Hi! Do you know if the moomin 90s anime ever was dubbed in portuguese?

I literally googled "moomins portugues" and someone has uploaded the entire first season of the anime with portuguese subs (it appears to be fansubs too)

So, from my understanding, it has not been dubbed, but there is a community dedicated enough to write subtitles for every episode, and all of them are up on youtube.

Also I found this video and I don't understand a thing, but since I do understand some spanish that has some similarities, they talk about the "magical world of Tove" (Jansson) ?

So, yeah, there is a portuguese community for it at least, but dubbed I don't think so.

I've noticed Spain's dub tends to be more loyal to the actual translation, while the Latin American version creates it's own lore.

In that scene, when Husk is telling Angel to not solve his problems by drinking, he says (in Latin American Spanish) "Oye, si tienes problemas no los vas a resolver en el fondo de una botella. Debí saberlo antes de acabar con mi vida" ("hey, if you've got problems you won't solve them at the bottom of a bottle. I should have known before ending my life")
