I'm so used to being surrounded by kind and thoughtful neurodivergent people at this point that I've forgotten that sometimes neurodivergency can make us assholes in very specific ways and even though yes there's nothing wrong with us for being "different" and we shouldn't feel ashamed of who we are etc etc it's still kind of also our job to try and not actively hurt other people and then just excuse it with "well I'm autistic/have bpd/xyz so you can't be mad" or "if you don't like me treating you bad you're making me feel like I can't be my true self around you" or something like. I feel like it's very obvious to me because I have The Disorder That Makes Everyone Think You're Shitty so I'm always very aware of trying not to be, but others. not so much I think

I'm rereading "The Fifty-Year Mission" and god I forgot how many notes Patrick Stewart was already giving on TNG and especially the movies & how often he was basically telling everyone 'give me the stories I want or I'll walk out'. Granted it's because his is a theatrical background and that was a much more collaborative process than the Hollywood average, and I suppose that's what it took to have his opinion be heard. However the difference is stark when you read about the showrunners deferring to him while people like Gates McFadden (with a similar theatrical background) felt like they could never speak to the writers or the production when they had concerns about their roles as actors.

My grandmother had a stroke . Shes lucid and out of surgery right now so i am thankful for that. Going to be staying at my grandparents place tonight. Drove a super long way to come back and im so so so tired and i have a cold n cant stop coughing and i miss my boyfriend and i dont want to drive ever again

genuinely astounding to me how few people wear masks these days ngl!! everyone on campus is sick. nobody is wearing a mask. people tell me they dont like being able to smell their own breath I tell them I like having the ability to smell at all and they still dont wear a mask. someone tells me im weakening my immune system by wearing a mask because its not fighting off illness. one of my friends is sick for the second time in a month with a lingering cough. people in my classes are out with covid and come back days later. another person on the floor is sick but they'll just take ibuprofen. my friends casually mention having almost no sense of smell. almost nobody can get the covid booster because we live on a secluded college campus. people cough without covering their mouths in class. they dont have a mask on. nobody has a mask on. what is anyone even doing
