regarding your post on art style theft, bc i'm genuinely confused-- i thought that term was mostly used when someone was knowingly and purposely mimicking others' art styles and trying to pass it off as their own? maybe i missed the "don't take inspo from my art" days because i got into digital art so late compared to most people around my age, because that part does seem silly. i know people can and do harmlessly subconsciously mimick styles or take inspiration from poses/composition/etc.

but isn't there a point when it does become a problem if the person is deliberately copying another artist's style as closely as they can?

part of why i ask is bc i've been watching an artist i know struggle with another person copying their pretty unique style so closely that other people frequently confuse their accounts for alts of the original artist. they've even started using very similar main character designs. at what point does the line get crossed? is there a line in your opinion?

Hi. I know where you are coming from, and I've examples of exactly what you are talking about. My post is meant mostly at people making a mountain out of a mole hill; ie an artist attacking other artists for minor similarities like eye designs and colors, things I've seen for years online. I don't mean directly coping. Or ai as soon people brought up, as that directly takes images.

Here's the thing. If you post on the internet, and if people like your work, there will be a few people who will directly copy you. There's nothing you can do about it. Style studies to improve their own art, or maliciously trying to get a following tricking people. Technically, there's nothing you can do. If it's tracing, you can say something. But honestly, I'm probably not going to give you an answer you would like. If it were me (I personally wouldn't mind), I would block and put "I only post art on (this) and (that) account" in my bio to not confuse people.

People in the notes have brought up toyhouse as recent examples of "don't take inspiration from my art", I don't use toyhouse. I would see this on tumblr years ago. If you see someone who says that, I would just block them.

He is accurate within 10 seconds of 5am every day. #I think the Jiang disciples are most likely used to waking up around 6:00-7:00am #But the allure of having a guaranteed time keeper getting you up in the morning is worth the earlier hour. #I imagine they started outside lwj's door and slowly moved closer as the weeks went on. #Now LWJ has to cope with being way too warm in the night from all the extra body heat. #LWJ is not a fan of this but they scamper off immediately after he wakes up and they at least show initiative to follow routine. #NHS joins in only because he is a chronically heavy sleeper and needs this level of intervention to get up early. #His boldness would be a death sentence in the cloud recesses but here? Whole new game. #Yungmeng Jiang isn't a lawless land. It's just a land with different laws. #And one of those laws is to forcefully domesticate the catboy coded Lan boy through any means necessary. #Completely different tangent: I drew the thumbnail for this before I did comic 134. I then realized they had the same visual gag. #So I had to space this one out so it didn't seem like I repeated the waking up joke. If you stutter or have a lisp or misspeak easily or you have a flat affect or a limited verbal vocabulary or if your voice is AAC or if you just have a difference in your vocality, you are so incredibly important and amazing.

Just know that your voice is yours. Nobody will ever be able to truly take it away. Your voice is part of you, and you deserve to make it as true to you as you deem fit. I hope you have the space to grow with your voice and whatever about it makes it unique.
