I have so many incoherent durge thoughts that I'm trying to piece together. Like I like thinking of them as a corpse within a corpse trying to live. You have always been dead in some way even before the story began. Like the little baby you might've been before your father's blood started speaking to you died the first time you picked up the knife. You carry the corpse you who you could've been inside of you. Pushed all the way down but it's still there rotting away. When Orin put the tadpole in your skull, the untouchable prophet of Bhaal died. And now you're left with it's clawing hunger and a humiliation you can't shake. And like sure you can reclaim your birthright but that part of you is still gone. Everyone saw you fall and the pedestal will never be as high or sturdy or stable. You can come close to how you were but you'll never be the same.

And if you turn your back on your father, he kills you and leaves you a corpse yet again. You come back but it still doesn't change the fact that he made another corpse for you to carry. The guilt for past sins, the strange emptiness that fills your head where the urge used to be and the muscle memory that's never gonna leave you.

Like you've always been dead in some way. A piece of dead flesh molded into a person who is constantly killing some part of themselves. A corpse within a corpse within a corpse.

Does that make sense?

And you can die again, if you reject Bhaal’s blood. Your growth is a long line of corpses left behind you. It’s up to you to decide whether the corpses belong to you or someone else. God, you’re so right.
