i'm curious how were you introduced to tomdaya. outside of their 🚦😘🚙 📸 did you start with the press interviews, stumble upon the timeline, watch old snapchats on youtube, go through tumblr archives? and how long did that deep dive take you? It was a solid 3 weeks before i felt like i was all caught up but man it was fun because they were so messy with their little secret 😂

i first saw them in homecoming - didn't think they were cute - saw them again in ffh - was too busy having a life and didn't care for fan stuff - and thankfully didn't start stanning them after that - covid became a thing - working from home dragged me back into my part-time loser life - then i remember seeing one of the people i follow on twitter who isn't even a tomdayer tweeting about a picture of a purple hoodie on zendaya's bedroom floor that belonged to tom and started getting a bit curious about them but forgot about it - then the july 2 pics dropped - fell into a small and incomplete rabbithole - kept checking on them from time to time - nwh press happened - became a full time loser - started wanting more content - was surprised to find out that tumblr still existed and wasn't just a safe space for the larries of the world - found out that there's even more stuff about them that i didn't know thanks to the archives - read them all in 24 hours - became a tomdaya expert - kept checking on blogs but was too afraid to make my own in case the website alerted my contacts that i got an account? - got brave and decided to make the blog - survived tcr filming era - got invited to their wedding in december - tomdaya 3.0 happened - lots of vomitting was done - would like for tomdayaqna to come back and take me with her

Okay!!

I'm the anon who brought up the Jake's Take interview with Z, and here are my personal thoughts. I think the reason why Z is being asked about kissing her costars is because she is dating Tom. I know fans may disagree, but I believe the public interest on them has become so much of their brand, and I can understand why solo fans of each other are frustrated because they just want to support an actor they admire without the stanwars and public obsession. Again, I don't have an issue with them sharing stories of each other, I have issues if it takes away from their work. I feel it more on Tom more so than on Z cause she is in a higher position as she's been working with great visionaries longer.

Tom for the past few yrs has become very polarising for filmbros, critics, and antis because he is dating the it girl of our generation and because his career isn't on par as his peers. The think pieces OK this blog, the hate he gets on socials whether it be that he isn't a filmbro, he doesn't denounce marvel, hes dating Z and was getting mocked due to the challengers trailer and the hate he got from TCR, the controversies he's in has to deal with R+J is partly his own contrinution because he didnt post against the hate for Fran but it's exacerbated with the fact that because he's with Z and the expectations of him is so higher than other actors. It's so much because even when he met a fan in Scotland, they weren't happy to meet him they were happy to meet Z's bf, which is disrespectful. Like that sucks because even his career is nothing outside of his relationship.

It's also hard on Z because she even admitted post NWH and Euphoria 2 how hard it was for her to even leave the house with her costars because she thought she would make their evenings worse and that is so hard to hear. She has been accommodating her life in fear of being judged by her fans who refude to evolve like her, and that's not healthy for her or her fans. These are the same fans last yr who, during Christmas on that bird app, were going viral for bringing up her ex JE and blaming Tom for visiting her on set for Euphoria as if that was the reason they aren't together like he hasn't been dating Olivia for like 3 yrs. Those are the fans she's dealing with.

That besties narrative was pushed hard in promo for Dune 1 and 2, and as many fans dislike Timothee, I have to give him credit for not being a weirdo and allowing that narrative to be pushed. Most male actors in his position would love to push a showmance for the promotion for those films and he didn't, he even mentioned Tom on both press tours because of how ppl ship, he didn't even stop fans shipping him with Taylor or any of his costars but with Z he did. He didn't have to do that, but it kinda sucks he knew he had to.

It's a lot. Like there isn't any promo for R+J and Rachel and Kit are having photoshoots and tiktoks for their Romeo and Juliet, and that's unfair because if Tom did that with Fran, locals/incels will create a narrative and its exhausting. Popularity is important for an actor, but what costs?

Like I mentioned in one of my previous posts, I do feel like people would be curious about Tom and Z's private lives no matter who they date, simply because they're so famous.

I'm not sure though that I feel like Z would not get those same kissing questions if she were dating another actor that is NOT Tom. I honestly feel like she would get those questions regardless.

Sadly, for most women (actresses), they usually get the brunt of the relationship type questions. 😕 It seems, that's all anyone is interested in when it comes to women.

Plus, if you're attractive, that also makes people more curious...especially if your costar is also equally attractive as well. For some reason, ppl tend to think that acting translates into real life.

Re: Tom, career, etc....

I honestly don't know why fans keep repeating this mantra about Tom's career as if he's not doing well in his career or smthg. Have Twitter folks made you all brain washed or smthg? 🥴 Serious question.

Tom's R&J play sold out in 2 HOURS. How is his career "bad"? 🥴

I'm not understanding the logic.

And btw, just because ONE fan in Scotland was just excited to meet "Zendaya's boyfriend", it doesn't mean that MOST people feel that way.

MOST fans who get to meet Tom are there to meet HIM.... Not Zendaya.

Also, I know Z is usually a homebody most of the time, but where did she say that she was afraid to go out with costars because she was worried that she would ruin their evening out? 🤔

There are PLENTY of R&J adaptations going on and there will be for years to come.

They must have been planning this for a while if they're announcing it so close to Tom's production. Theirs will be on Broadway though, so it's a totally different production in a totally different country. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I'm not even sure Tom's production even planned to do photo shoots to promote the play..... but it would be sad to think that IF they did, that some people would be so hateful about it. 😕

But I'm not going to worry about smthg that hasn't even happened yet. 👀

Apple never believed in TCR success once those reviews dropped

I remember them tweeting a thread about their Hit shows (it was like all the Apple tv shows with great RT scores) the exact day the embargo lifted, it's like they wanted to save their ass because the show kinda felt like it was ruining their reputation of hit shows

For the crew, for the cast, for Tom, I hate that it went that way. It was never THAT bad to deserve that kind of treatment, some of the criticism was valid but I still believe they would've never been this harsh if it was someone else in the lead role

I felt like they put more effort with Cherry promo (or maybe it's just my memory tricking me). Their lack of promo on social media was evident (compare to the other shows being promoted at the time as well) way BEFORE those reviews dropped.

This is how they decided to promote the official trailer for TCR... They use a Spider-Man punchline (see below). But no "Elvis" reference was made on their post for the "Masters of the Air" trailer & the same goes for Brie Larson's 'Lessons In Chemistry' series (no "Captain Marvel" references either).

The press tour was basically Tom doing all the promo by himself again (basically Uncharted 2.0). They had Amanda Seyfried & Tom in one project, but didn't pair them up for interviews, not even once... a shame.

I’ve been watching Tom complete his press junket for TCR and noticing the headlines that are getting picked up and used for clickbait. A few headlines that stood out in particular, because he actually said them, were “being a producer, dealing with the day-to-day problem that come with any film set, just added to that extra level of pressure” “Holland to take a break from acting after new series broke him”“I’m now taking a year off and that is a result of how difficult this show was,” and “I thought that after two months I’d be itching to get back on set. I’m now six months in and I’m absolutely loving my time off. I’m really enjoying myself.”

🧐Should we be reading in between the lines or the writing on the wall?

I am by no means attempting to play mental health olympics. I understand feelings and emotions are personal and no two people feel everything the same. However, Z played Rue for 16 months, showed us pictures of her literal cuts and bruises from knocking down doors, had the same (if we’re being totally honest, even more) pressure on her since the person whose life she was portraying was always two centimeters away and she also had to go to deep, dark emotional places for twice as long (and she did a fantastic job) but she didn’t “take a break from acting” or use the job description of an EP to sell herself to critics, journalists or fans. Outside of Claire, no one from Z’s side has ever mentioned her being an EP.

I sound like I’m nitpicking because I am. It’s just Z doesn’t complain (publicly) or ever do the woe is me act. During Z’s Cinema Con acceptance speech, she said her “purpose was to be a story teller for those who can’t tell their own stories.” In your opinion, do those quotes up there sound like someone whose passion is acting or someone who’s become slightly jaded and is going through the motions?*

Yes, I was in NYC today and it looked like apocalypse. I know many on the west coast are used to this but I have never seen anything like it in my life. NYC was orange.

Anyway, your ask. I'll preface being I don't love comparing them and also that I really haven't read a lot of his TCM press interviews though I have seen the clickbait titles, more around him taking time off.

I think it's hard to say how Z really feels because there is also the idea that they only let us see what they want us to Z and I think Z has the added pressure of not being white and knowing that she she has to present a certain way because she has less room for error or to mess up or to be seen as angry or any other judgment that white men don't usually have. That said, I do think Z currently genuinely has a passion for storytelling.

I don't think there is any point comparing who handled their mental health better when dealing with more difficult roles but I do think it's good on Tom if he could see where it was messing with him and could talk about it or get help or do what he needed to do for himself.

I really don't know if acting is his one true passion, or maybe he is getting jaded? I also think there are people that genuinely love the craft but get disillusioned at everything else in the industry that comes along with it all.

I also keep in mind that both Tom and Z got into the industry as young children and so it wouldn't be totally crazy that they reach a point in their still young lives where they question if that is the career they want. Tom has certainly been way more vocal about it than Z, even before this when he would be talking in interviews about potentially retiring and having a family.

My guess is Tom doesn't want to completely retire and it's not that he lost his passion for the arts so much as he maybe doesn't want the kind of full on career he's had since Marvel and wants to take it a slower pace. Fans want their faves to work constantly and always be at the top of the box office.

Can I see current Z retiring? Not even a little bit. Could I see Tom taking a step back? Yes but I also think he would miss it if he ever did entirely. Purely guessing though.

I really need apple to deliver a great press tour. I want photoshoots and endless interviews and red carpets and everything. They worked hard so might as well go all out. I feel like whenever he does heavy projects the studio doesn’t do the promo part justice. I am still salty on how netflix handled the devil all the time and that cast was chef kiss.

I'm excited for TCR as well Anon! 😃

We have to keep in mind though that this is a TV made-for-streaming series, so we might not get AS much press as we would for a large film coming out. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I'll also add that we were still VERY MUCH in the throes of the Covid-19 pandemic back when TDATT (Sept 2020) and "Cherry" (Feb 2021) came out. 😮‍💨🥴

Remember, TZ were basically in a little filming bubble in Atlanta filming NWH even back then.

So, let's give the studios a break for those shall we? 😅

I still enjoyed the numerous zoom interviews that we received for "Cherry", and even the ones for TDATT (although, not as many).

I thought Tom did quite bit of promo for Cherry actually! He also went on talk shows virtually. How could you forget his pantless showcase on air during that time?? Rofl 😆 🤣 😂 😆

Anyway, THANKFULLY we're pretty much "back to normal" now with the pandemic, and we have more in-person interviews.

I'll admit, the news about the writers strike is making me feel nervous 😓, because it seems a lot of talk show outlets are going to be on hiatus during the strike. 😩 So right now I'm not sure how that will affect Tom's promo of TCR (if at all). 🤷🏾‍♀️

But hopefully they will come to a resolution and it won't last long. 🙏🏾

Tom seems like he's even MORE private than Z about their rlshp tbh - Yes! He does! I think its really sweet how protective of the relationship he is. Like initially he posted her lots but I think once he saw just how invested the public was, he must have decided he didnt want everyone opinions on his personal private life. I think he’s happy with everyone knowing they’re together but doesnt want to share anymore than that. I also think he’s more the one to put his foot down with relationship questions (“that’s none of your business” when asked who he’s taking to japan with him trip for 2 and asked about his public relationship on desus & mero) but zendaya more often just giggles and doesnt shut questions down the same way so while everyones excited for tcr press, im looking forward to challengers and dune bc hopefully z will feel more open sharing a few things - no huge expectations but something 🥰

Yea, to me Tom seems more private and protective over the rlshp actually. So for all those thinking that Tom was just some sucker in 1.0 going along with Zendaya's wishes, you have to remember that he was obviously fine with the status quo himself... otherwise he wouldn't have been dating her in the first place. Esp not a woman who's got an even busier life than he has, and lives THOUSANDS of miles away lol 😆

Why do you think directors don’t take an interest in Tom? Finding out now that Paul Ling has no input in Fred Astaire is giving me TCR vibes. Like though I love the show, my biggest gripe is that the show had four directors with different tones and multiple writers when it really needed one director who had a deep interest with working with Tom and Akiva.

Even the press for TCR was weird to me because no one other that Tom and the few core cast promoted the show. Not even Brady Corbet, yet he hired Emma Laird for his next film. Do ppl hate Tom like what did he do?????

Im only asking because all actors in Tom’s age range have directors who want to work with them. For Tom’s end it’s silent. I never read young up and coming directors speak anon his talent. Just fans tbh.

I thought it was just because he did marvel but, a lot of actors have done marvel and still have directors interested in them. Like the daughter in barbie was in a marvel film. Maybe they weren't called in to promote! Tom is the STAR of the show. I would think it would be more of an insult if he's the lead, and they interviewed everyone BUT him! Tom was also not only the lead, but also an EP on TCR. What were you expecting?? 🥴 Tom and Amanda are (no offense) the BIGGEST stars of that series. Why waste time interviewing actors for a series who most probably don't even recognize? (Again, no offense to the rest of the cast, cuz they were great!)

This isn't anything NEW Anon. This is actually pretty typical for a series. There can be various directors for a variety of reasons. I'm shocked you didn't know this?? 🥴 Doing TV is not like doing film where there's typically one director for the whole entire project. A series is different! Usually much more fast-paced as well.

And that's GREAT for them! But that doesn't mean that Tom doesn't have directors who want to work with him. Like, wth?? 🥴 Are you Tom's agent? Are you TOM? The answer is NO to both of those questions. You don't know what Tom has coming! He has probably been negotiating something even PRIOR to the strikes that you don't even know anything about.
