#honestly this isn't usually something i'd pick up #but i liked the idea of it and i needed a way to challenge myself i think #i took out a few cats bc i understood the want for visual clutter #but i felt that the original wasn't cluttered with intention if that makes sense? #like the push for getting every character in frame actively hurt its coherency in a way that just made it look muddled #ive never participated in a dtiys before and i had fun! #might try more in the future #tccdtiys #my art #im not gonna look too hard at the mistakes its been SO long since ive done something fully inked colored and shaded

#party poison #danger days #ttlotfk #killjoys california #heard paint the town red and went hm. kind of a party poison song #got super frustrated with this drawing earlier and had to take a full day away from it #before ultimately just deciding i’ve scrapped WAY too many drawings lately #and that the best way to start improving and not hating my art again is to keep pushing myself through drawings even when i hate them #try to fix them. and also probably doing some studies would help #also using references. that’s helped a little with being less frustrated #ANYWAYS. i had fun doing this one #i actually faked the lineless style by coloring over the lineart i did with either a similar color for inner lines + same color for outside #:]

#not supposed to be that color either #i wonder who that belongs to #i had a very vague meaning for this in mind but saying it would spoil the fun #christ this took me forever #i wanted to do a quick project to give myself a break from my final #but accidentally made an entirely new kind of nightmare #BUT i can proudly say that i am very proud of this despite how long it took me #alrighty this blog is all about tracking progress so my thought on this; #it's not really as energetic as i had hoped to make it so i think that's the biggest technical issue i have with this #i'll try to get back to doing more gestures soon as a way to help with that #i think my shadows are a bit confusing too #i'm looking at it now and his glasses kinda taper off into the void of his fur bc i didnt mark the shadow along the left of his ear #but the thought of digging back through layers to fix it and blending that mess in is giving me a headache so i'm content with leaving it #i think i learned a lot about light and reflections though #my shadows aren't the greatest but i had so much fun rendering the glasses #and the glow of the soul pushed me to think about bounce light a lot more #figuring out how to make the colors look like they were glowing was a whole separate issue #i did it in the last big ralsei drawing i did but not nearly to this extent #i won't be doing something this large for a while after this but i'll keep trying to work on the things i didn't like about this #i think i'm gonna start putting my self-crit in the tags from now on #it really does bulk up the posts and it's hard to scroll past #i like reflecting on my work like this though #i've been able to draw a lot more since i've started doing it because it helps me create specific goals for myself #lets me keep pushing myself while still having fun with my art #ralsei #deltarune #deltarune fanart

#okay in all seriousness though i fucking loved it #hands down favorite episode was earth rake #but also contending is stockiverse and.. Bouillabaisse.. #i really love how family focused this season is. dont get me started on tervo. i love how much nicer everyone is to each other #except for them really juicing up korvo’s bitchiness in super gooblers (which i guess was meant to push jesse into her confrontation) #speaking of korvo his voice was a delight this season. just so expressive and is now up there with the rest of the casts distinct voices #i guess trying to ease back into finales that end with a season reset #and why didnt pupa change color?? #overall it was pretty fucking great. had black spots in my vision during the invisible kitchen scene #tervo this season was fucking crazy my god what are they gonna do for the valentine special #UGHHH. they really keep raising the bar every season. SOOOO GOOD #this isn’t a very In Depth discussion of my thoughts sorry i need to spend more time in this seasons nooks and crannies #ooh ohh and the replicants this season were so cute too. LOVED HOW FLUID IT WAS AND ALL THE FUN NEW EXPRESSIONS THE SOLARS HAD #THAT SCENE OF THEM SAYING DEENOSAUR WAS LIKE MY FAVORITE EXAMPLE #gonna keep adding as i remember things im glad they wanted to explore jesses character more #but i dont like how they jeopardized korvos character for them to get there #kinda made him backtrack his progress for the sake of that episode :/ just a really big shift i wasnt a fan of #and they didnt make him feel remorse that whole episode either he didnt even say sorry :/ #also terry was just chill with chris that whole episode? have we just moved past the hall of betrayals thing? #i guess jesse’s roast about him being sky blue really just set him off for the rest of the season #he needs to talk to someone professional #i feel like solars is a really weird blend of being umm. getting a sudden resurgence of art motivation is such a blessing and a curse tbh. bc on one hand im drawing a lot and having a lotta fun doing so but on the other hand i wanted to make Even More secret stuff for atbb that requires drawing so i told myself i would make a few very sketchy things that would have to be quick and don't have to be Insane Awesome Quality since they'll be blurry as hell in the final product anyway and i have like less than a week / a couple days at most to get it all ready in time

so anyways now it's 3am and i just finished the first of what i still want to do after 3 days

#this is first and foremost about yennefer being canonically suicidal and it being never brought up in fandom #but people can talk about how they think she’s a bitch just fine like we’re all stuck in 2005 #but also applies to like just about every character of color who has a prominent role in sci/fi fantasy genre space #because they sure get made to suffer a lot by these writers but in the white imagination that’s not noteworthy at all? #but also Scott McCall #who deadass attempted suicide on screen in one ep? #suicide tw #which I have moved on from teen wolf but it for very obvious reasons another great example #or Michael Burnham who canonically had a fucked up childhood that gave her a lifelong martyr complex #but if you ask who clearly has ptsd on the show it’s not her because it needs to get spelled out even though she is the main character? #Or even Culber; they bonded once over how they both died! #but we don’t do that with white boy side characters 5-7 #they try to hate crime someone on screen and people are making shit up to justify before whatever media it is finishes airing #we talk about diversity in media #but one of the catch 22s is that more diverse media tends to be genre media #because that’s allowed to push boundaries #but as a fan of color you have to mentally prepare yourself for witnessing trauma every time #meanwhile the silly no stakes fun shows get majority white or entirely white casts every time #so you get this fun thing where if you’re white and want a fun escape you get a buffet of laughs #and if you’re a person of color at best you *dont* get to see yourself die on screen #anyways this has been a middle of the night that no one should be taking seriously #*rant #gotta make sure everything referencing tw isn’t in the first 5 tags or I might wake up to a whole essay crying in the inbox

What's with art communities and forgetting people can just do things for fun and not be professional about it??

#ax speaks #advice is ALWAYS catered to “how to survive as a professional artist” #like yeah cool this is all great but I just wanted to know how to make my art cool not the rules I need to follow to get hired #good anatomy does not equal good art #good dialogue does not equal good art #encourage creativity divergence and experimentation #shade with black. make big thick messy lines. make your lighting completely nonsensical #make weird uncomfortable dialogue. narrate casually. space out your words strangely for effect. write in the second person #of course all of it can be executed badly that's why professionals tell you to stay away from it #but if you execute it in your own way and make it work you can really push the bounds of being an artist #the question should always be “goes it feel good” rather than “is it correct” when creating something #the next time someone asks you for drawing advice don't tell them to make the lines less shaky or to use more muted colors #tell them exactly what you would do to make their art look sick as hell #or if someone asks for writing advice don't tell them the structure of a story or what words to use #tell them exactly what your favorite parts are to focus on like dialogue or how you came up with the part you had the most fun writing
