Why I ship Heishin with every cell of my weaboo body ( Part 1 )
Yes. I needed to write this. Here’s a couple of disclaimers : 1 ) This is labeled as ’ Part 1 ’ because it’s done PRE-rereading end. When I’m done with the reread of the manga I’m going to write a more detailed and complete Part 2 2) This is STRICTLY PERSONAL opinions. Not meant to offend anyone or pretending to be canon evidence. Just my little, useless personal opinion. 3) This will contain parts where I explain why I think other ships don’t work as well as Heishin. Therefore, you might consider this slightly anti ShinRan and KazuHeiji. Trust me, it’s for your own good. 4) I will edit the HTML later when on PC to make this aesthetically appealing. That being said, let’s begin! HEISHIN IS GOLD BECAUUUUSE … • Heiji and Shinichi complete each other. Yes. More than any other characters in there, Heiji and Shinichi are opposite, yet equals. They are black and white, brain and heart both working for the same results. Their deductions are always perfectly matching, one covering the flaws of the other. The whole East and West thing is just a metaphore for how much complementary they are. And this is absolutely flawless and awesome. Try to remind a single case where they are together in which they are not being one the other half of the other. • Heiji and Shinichi are on the same intellectual level. They COMPLETE EACH OTHER THOUGHTS. THOUGHTS GUYS. Like, one THINKS of a sentence and the other ENDS IT IN THEIR MIND. This is sign of a strong connection, that goes way over friendship and romance. Kazuha and Heiji usually have incomprensions and misunderstandings because they just aren’t on the same level. How many times Kazuha was basically flashing something in front of Heiji’s eyes and he just couldn’t see it? Same goes for Ran and Shinichi. But Heiji and Shinichi share the same minds, the same morals and interests, even with two completely different ways to see them. They aren’t just soulmates, they are MINDmates, and that’s so important for people like them! • Heiji UNDERSTANDS Shinichi's passion. Related to the last point, Heiji really gets what Shinichi is. He catches his nature as a person. He understand his love for mystery, his obsession for case solving, his nights spent on books. While Ran finds his passion creepy and annoying ( “ Stop with that detective thing! ” ) Heiji FEELS it so much. And that’s really important for someone like Shinichi who LIVES for his passion. Ran will never fully understand his emotions and feelings for cases and justice. She can accept it, maybe admire it, but she will never / understand / it. Heiji does. He will support and encourage him with his decisions and he will always be there with him when a case turns out to be particularry dangerous or difficoult. Remember that one of Shinichi's main traits is his passion. He needs someone who GETS it and respects it. For an instance, Heiji will always be ready to drop a date to go case solving. Ran won't. • Their relationship is even and well balanced. They are on the same level, they joke, they quarrel, they fights, they laughs together... this is what a relationship should be made of. Shinichi and Heiji are / FRIENDS / to begin with, and they aren't scared to hurt each other's feelings when yelling and arguing. There is more comunication between them than within anyone else in the series. Ran is ... I don't know how to express this, but she feels like... a level lower than Shinichi in the relationship. She waits for him, she lives for him, she is... under him. They have some awkward childhood crush fights, but that's all. They never confront their opinions on serious things, they never actually FACE each other. It's mostly Shinichi talking and Ran nodding and admiring him. Same goes for Kazuha. Shinichi and Heiji, however, TALK, CONFRONT IDEAS AND MORALS. That's what love is about, in my opinion. The thing they have between them is closer to real love than what will ever be between them and the girls. • Heiji and Shinichi are NOT childhood friends. Okay, this might be a bit stupid, but... really. Gosho seems to have a fetish for childhood friends love. See both ShinRan and KazuHeiji but also Kaito and Aoko or lots of secondary characters. But that thing is honestly overrated and irrealistic. Heiji falls ( we're getting there later ) for Shinichi when he's already a grown up individual. They are able to go past the first childlike affinity and move from there together. Because really, a childhood-lovers thing is rarely lasting throught time. When we're kids we get attracted to some things, some very silly things such as - She's sweet and cute! She has a nice hairpin! - but those are not good bases for a relationship in 90% of the cases. • Heiji and Shinichi share the same battle. One of the most important things is this point, in my opinion. The fight against the black organization will always be one of Shinichi's life main events, if not THE main one. Can you imagine what an impact such a big thing can have on a person's mind? This will always be the biggest part of his life, something that will make him grow as a totally different person, that will form his personality and shape his mind. And Heiji is there the whole time. He knows everything and fights at his side. This is too important to be left alone. When older, Shinichi will always remember that events of his life and who helped him overcome them. Who was there with him when he felt in despair. Who helped him fight his worst enemy. Ran was not there. Yes, it's not her fault, and yes, Shinichi will probably tell her everything afterwards, but it will always be a sum up of the events. She didn't feel the fear when seeing Gin's eyes. She wasn't there when his shrinked body trembled in desperation. But Heiji was. Heiji was there the whole time. • Their relationship is not based on lies. You can figure this out on your own but, really. A relationship CAN'T be built over lies and waiting. And you can find all the excuses you want, but no, there is no excuse. Shinichi is lying to Ran and they're living in a constant limbo of distrust and fear. That can't possibly be sane, guys. Aaaaaaaand this is all that comes to my mind right now. I might do a part 1.2 once other topics come to me, and part 2 will be written after the reread of the manga. Sorry for the length, but I really, really REALLY needed this. Ouch my thumbs hurt
