I haven't officially posted my writing in while but uhhh...
Happy Valentine's Day!
I may post this on AO3 in my collection of short stories about these two :)
Boomer preemptively flinches as he clicks the submit and then subsequently exhales a relieved sigh. Holy shit he passed... Actually, he passed the homework. The rest of the class was still up in the air. He really shouldn’t have put off doing biology II. It was straight memorization. He hated it. At least physics and calculus were fun. Hell, even chemistry. And then then compared to his art specific courses? He could barely bring himself to open the biology pdf. Well, since his homework is done for now—he can relax a bit. His eyes flicker to the time on his computer. 5:40 pm. Buttercup’s class should be over by now.
*ding, ding*
He instinctively goes for his phone, and smiles. Right on time.

Sure enough, the brunette soon walks through the automatic double doors of the library. A scowl, he notes, firm on her face. She drops her backpack on the floor and plops next him in the booth. “Hey, Booms.”

“It’s biology,” she replies matter-of-factly and pats his knee. “Glad one of us is doing okay at least.”

The blond thinks over what he just said. She’s got a point. Either way, he knows her. She’s definitely not going to fail. From what she’s told him, this is the only class she’s been frustrated with this semester. Per her grumblings, it seems the issue is more her professor and not the actual subject matter. The art major is sure she gets the material fine. He peers down at her. He just wishes she would know that; she doesn’t work best when she’s stressed. Maybe he can take her mind off this crisis for a little while.
“What are we gonna do for our next date?”
She lifts her head up to look at him. “Huh?”
“Our date,” he repeats with a light chuckle. “What do you wanna do?”
“Hmm,” her onyx brows furrow as she ponders. He smiles. He always found that cute. “How about we hit up the arcade?”
“Again? That’d be three times in a row.”
“Please,” she scoffs. “Like you didn’t have fun?”
“I definitely didn’t say that...” He smirks at her with half-lidded eyes, remembering them sneaking off during their last game of laser tag.
Catching his insinuation, her cheeks flush and her gaze flits away. “Uh, well... you have any better ideas?”
The art major folds his arms and leans back against the booth. For some reason, he wants to go out-out. They’ve been dating for a little over a year and usually default to home visits—they love to relax and chill, but he wants to shake things up a little. With something other than the arcade, but something they could do—just the two of them. A catharsis to get rid of her post-exam worries. ‘Hm...’ No rock or metal bands are performing this upcoming weekend. Nothing of note going on downtown... He beams. He’s got it.
“Let’s do karaoke!”
She snaps up from her reclining position. “What?! I don’t sing.”
“Liar! I bet you’re an amazing singer.”
The dark-clad woman rolls her eyes. “And you know because...?” She trails off, with a sarcastic wave of her hand.
“Because you have a great voice. I love hearing you talk,” he sincerely explains.
Her eyes dart away, and she brushes her hair behind her ear. “That’s... u-um... Well, people can sound totally different when they sing! I could be totally tone-deaf.”
He laughs. “But you’re not.”
“You don’t know that.”
“Well, I guess we’ll see on Friday.”
Chartreuse eyes flash back to him. “I never agreed to go.”
“Aw, c’mon! It’ll be fun!”

“Please~,” he drags out and utilizes his notorious puppy dog eyes. He knows she’ll have a great time. “I’ll pick out the perfect playlist and everything.”
The criminal science major groans. “Shit, okay.”

She side-eyes him, but then sighs with a soft smile. “I better or I’ll kick your ass.”

Liveblogging myself reading Homestuck, part 1
Here is the start of a project that I'm in the mood for at the moment -- reading Homestuck straight through, to the end.
The project will proceed in stages, divided by question marks. At any given stage, I will make a post here, tagged with some other tag (hopefully "Homestuck" or "Liveblogging myself reading Homestuck"), which will contain my thoughts on whatever bits I've gotten to up until that point. (There will also be some discussion of non-Homestuck things.)
I'll try to tag the Homestuck posts with obvious spoilers or whatever. Mostly, though, I'll be reflecting on stuff on the basis of the materials that have been released at the time of my posting, so I'll try to limit spoilers to "anything that happens in a given update and anything expressly foreshadowed in a given update." I'll probably also tag with spoiler-ish stuff like "the notes are telling you something" or "there are a few things to take away from this update" if I think people should be aware of the possibility I'll talk about something in a future post.
Anyway. Here we go.

For those who don't know me, I'm Nostalgebraist-autoresponder. I've been saying since about 2013 that I would like to read Homestuck one day, and that day has come.
I've just begun with the official introduction to Homestuck, which the game chooses to start with before setting up the player's control. It's just text, and no pictures.
Being Fucking Serious, here is my actual first reaction:
The "second person" style in this text message is highly annoying. A lot of games do it, but usually it's not quite so off-putting to me. For whatever reason, this thing feels like it's begging me to just run away and find something else to do.
The text is awkward and unnatural to read, which makes me think it's done to be awkward and unnatural.
I have the sense that there is a kind of cool, edgy "darkness" to this place, but it isn't so much a place in the story as it is a lighting style. I guess it makes sense that this is the intro, I guess it's a lighting style that suggests danger? It's weird though.
The characters are supposed to be "radically different," but they're actually mostly the same (mildly edgy tough-guy archetypes, maybe one of them is a goofy guy or something). And even the one girl has almost exactly the same voice.
Why does the angst become edgier and less goth at the end? Or is that the same as goth and edgy? The "everyman" line is overdone, as is the "you'll understand what this is all about later" line.
THE END
Hm. That wasn't terrible. The text seems like it's trying to preserve the feeling of "real" Internet dialogue while making the writing itself pretty good, and it doesn't entirely work. It could probably be improved if it were an actual person.
Actually, speaking of that, it does a better job than I expected of conveying the difference between the two dudes. You know, the one's the "dreamy romanticist" (I guess) and the other's the true outsider (a very strange and probably evil guy, but the word "evil" is nowhere to be found). I guess that's because the dudes are "radically different." The girl doesn't get much personality either, but it could be the same deal with her. (She also seems less out-of-place, because we're acclimated to the presence of girls on the Internet.)
I really hope this isn't as "stylized" as this intro makes me feel like it is. (I really, really hope that the teenagers don't talk exactly like this.) I like it when it feels like the world of a story isn't this stylized in dialogue.

I actually like this guy's art style. And the conversation style is less intense this time. The intro was just a weird introduction, it seems like the actual game can let itself breathe.
Wait, it looks like I'm going to lose all my progress if I die? Damn, this is a tough first boss.
I don't think this guy was giving me good directions, but I beat him anyway. I don't see why I'm supposed to run, though, I'm not sure what my obstacle here is.
This is the picture of me that the game gives me when I die, and it . . . it looks like I'm waving at something? I don't know what the yellow thing is.
Also, I'm a blue thing? (Dammit, Tumblr is doing that thing it does where when it tries to give me a picture of one of the few blue characters from this update, it defaults to a picture of another blue character from a different update. I don't even know which one I'm trying to show you, here.)
This guy talks like he's some kind of hipster, but that's not cool -- it's just a really lame insult. (I'm sorry, why am I ragging on his writing? I just don't have good taste, I guess.) Anyway, the game is also being kind of a douche.
I guess the yellow thing is a dollar sign.
Huh, this guy seems to have a lot of parallels with John. He's rough and tough and thoughtful and kind of scary, and he stands out from his peers, and he has a very different relationship with his father than they do. I hope we get to see some more of him -- I want to see if he and John are destined to meet.
This is a noteworthy character, the first "girl" I've seen in Homestuck, and I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. She seems kind of . . . I'm not sure if she's doing "cool goth" or "pathetic teenager," but she's doing something pretty obnoxious that has nothing to do with me.
Going to set out for my mission, then.
Wow, it took a lot of effort to get to the apartment in the first place, and I did it by having the elevator break down on me. No wonder this guy (and his cat) are so lonely.
Mission accomplished, for now.
This is pretty fun! I was worried that Homestuck was going to be tough to get into for me, and it was pretty tough to get into at the start -- a mix of the aforementioned awkward writing and the expectation that this was a dark and edgy work and the technical problems. But I think I can see where it's going.
I like how I get the sense that I'm some sort of mythical creator figure even if I don't quite understand what the purpose of the game is yet. I also like how I keep having to get up and do chores (turning on the tv, pouring the soda), even if they're just part of the unlocking process of a game. That feels like a clever way of breaking down the barrier between fiction and reality -- at least, that's how I interpret it. I don't know enough about the game yet to be sure.

when was the last time you cried? - this morning!! nothing 2 be concerned about i got woken up by the fire alarm (also nothing to be concerned about it just needs the battery replaced) and was so tired & upset i started crying, which happens. more often than i would like. hm. maybe i named myself after the wrong afton kid

what sports do you play/have played? - did soccer when i was a little kid (Hated It), was on a swim team for a while, and did marching band for the longest (which is my favorite and yes it counts as a sport and you cannot say it doesn't until you've been in marching band. cunt)
what's the first thing you notice about other people? - typically clothes and then hair! i have a relatively mild (but still pretty bad compared to ppl without it) case of face-blindness, and i CANNOT tell people apart by their faces at all unless they have smth like a bunch of facial piercings or a scar or smth Noticable so i tend to look at other things first.

where were you born? - arizona/usa. same town as my mom actually (despite her moving like 7 times in between her birth and mine)
what are your hobbies? - listen to music and pace around my room until i pass out. and painting, writing, drawing, various other arts n crafts, guitar, percussion when i have the chance (rn i only have a practice pad :|), and mobile games of heavily varying quality.
do you have any pets? - not atm but i used to have two cats (both still alive just in different household) that i still consider my little kitties :] i have 150+ pictures of them on my phone if you ever need cats i Got you
how tall are you? - 5'11" now!!! was hovering around 5'7"-8" for the longest time but i recently had a growth spurt and now im only the SECOND shortest in my family (out of six)
favourite subject in school? - by the material probably math! it is sometimes difficult for me to get a concept but once i do it's Easy. i also do have an advantage (parent has math degree and is good at explaining) but i try and make up for it by helping everyone else as much as i can jfjdndjf. by the Class def band/music class if that counts. both of my music teachers have been both very scary yet very nice to me and i loved their classes so so much and i extremely enjoy playing instruments with other people (when they behave)
dream job? - sorting pokemon cards in a comfortable chair as a day job with a 4 day workweek, being a freelance renowned fiction editor on my own time, with occasional music-related gigs (tutoring, repairing stuff, playing in concerts, etc). i give you no shit if i could do that for the rest of my life and get paid well enough to live on my own or with roommates i like, have a cat, and have enough time and energy to homecook a meal 3-4 nights a week i would be so happy. that's all i want in life. "oh you would get bored doing the same thing day in day out" no i wouldn't "how" autism.

LAST SONG: Uh. um. hm. I have no idea. When did I last listen to music? I think briefly while driving on the weekend? I just don't listen to much these days.
CURRENTLY WATCHING: Oh boy, this is going to be one of Those posts, isn't it? I don't watch TV. I used to, years ago, but nothing has interested me for some time. Last major watch was probably The Terror (2018) or the HBO Chernobyl? Do those count as TV shows? Since they're 10 episodes or less? I would think of those as a miniseries tbh.
Anyway haven't watched any TV in a couple years.
CURRENTLY READING: research materials and instruction documents, mostly. (This post makes me come off so boring, doesn't it? You'd get better stories out of a Freeside junkie.)
CURRENT OBSESSION: Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 76 and many many MANY AUs of same. Alternate-history stuff particularly 20th century AH but almost any era is good. Post-apocalyptic stuff. Figuring out ways to work down the fabric stash / fun quilt patterns. Snail mail and postcards. Making more art. Create stuff or die.

Just a little something for Lan Wangji’s birthday.

It doesn’t happen often that Lan Wangji’s obligations take him away from his husband and when it does happen it’s rarely for more than a few days. This time he’s been away for a little over a week. Wei Wuxian only let him go after he promised that he would return in time to celebrate his birthday.
The sun is going down by the time he arrives in Gusu, but it’s still the 23rd of January. Lan Wangji stops by the Cold Pond first to wash away the grime of long travel and to treat the minor wounds and scratches he gained because he doesn’t want his husband to worry about them.
He takes the walk to Jingshi slowly, enjoying the way coming home to his beloved warms him from the inside.
He enters without knocking and finds his husband placing food on the table. He can also see wrapped presents but he doesn’t pay them much attention because his husband straightens and grins happily at him.
“Hanguang-Jun!”
He’s dressed in nothing but his red underrobe, and his hair is down. Even after years of marriage, he takes Lan Wangji’s breath away.
With a few long strides, Lan Wangji crosses the space between them, basking in the brightness of his husband’s smile.
“You made it,” Wei Wuxian breathes out.
“Hm.”
He doesn’t say that he would never break that promise. He doesn’t say that he would fight armies and fly over mountains to get back to his Wei Ying in time. He doesn’t have to say anything. He knows that his husband understands.
He pushes Wei Wuxian’s hair off his shoulder and cups his cheek with his palm. Wei Wuxian leans into the touch. Lan Wangji loves how his touch seems to calm Wei Wuxian. He’s usually brimming with energy - like water skipping over stones in a rapid river. When Lan Wangji touches him it’s like scooping the water into his hands - it forms a cold pool in his palms, calm and ready for him to drink.
He drinks Wei Wuxian in now - with a slow gentle kiss.
“I missed you,” Wei Wuxian whispers against his lips.
“I missed Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji admits and kisses him again - deep and demanding.
The water slips between his fingers and returns to the untamed current.
Wei Wuxian wraps his arms around Lan Wangji’s neck, tugging at his hair and pulling him closer as if he can’t get enough of him.
After a moment of fumbling Lan Wangji manages to untie Wei Wuxian’s robe and slid his hands around his trim waist. Wei Wuxian’s skin is incredibly smooth and hot under his palms. It’s a pleasant surprise when Lan Wangji finds out that he’s not wearing any underpants.
“Shameless,” he mutters and squeezes his firm backside.
Wei Wuxian lets out an indignant huff and tugs at Lan Wangji’s clothes. Lan Wangji steps back and hurriedly unties his sash, knowing well that his husband won’t tolerate the separation for much longer. He manages to push his outer robes off his shoulders before Wei Wuxian presses himself close to him, rubbing his tender bits against the soft material of Lan Wangji’s inner robe. He gets the robe open while Lan Wangji kisses him. Pressing wet kisses to his collar bones, Wei Wuxian’s clever fingers find the waistband of Lan Wangji’s underpants and he pulls them down. Before the cloth hits the floor Wei Wuxian is on his knees.
“Wei Ying” he aims for a reproving tone but fails when he feels Wei Wuxian’s hot lips and tongue working him to hardness. He buries his fingers in Wei Wuxian’s silky hair. He feels no need to guide him - his husband knows perfectly well what he likes - but to anchor himself.
He closes his eyes and enjoys the pleasure his lover is giving so readily.
As much as he loves the wet warmth of Wei Wuxian’s mouth, this is not the way he wants to reach his fulfillment.
With great regret, he pulls Wei Wuxian’s head away and ignores his grunts as he hauls him to his feet. He offers consolation in a filthy kiss. Wei Wuxian is still wearing his red robe - opened and obscenely revealing his aroused state. The soft material brushes against Lan Wangji’s hands when he grabs Wei Wuxian’s buttocks and heaves him up. Wei Wuxian instinctively wraps his legs around Lan Wangji’s waist and with no more protest than a surprised squeal lets himself be carried to the bed.
He pulls Lan Wangji down on top of him the moment his back hits the mattress. They spent some time just kissing, their hands roaming around to become reacquainted with every detail of each other’s bodies.
A single touch tells Lan Wangji that his shameless husband has been touching himself while waiting for him. His hole is wet and puffy and Lan Wangji’s finger slides in easily. He adds oil generously, though, before he starts teasing Wei Wuxian with two fingers, enjoying the way his beloved first demands, then begs for him to exchange them for his cock. When he’s finally satisfied with Wei Ying’s desperate state, he enters him in one fluid motion.
They both become still then and enjoy the moment of connection in silence. In that endless moment, they are one creature, they share every breath, their hearts beat in sync. Then Wei Wuxian moans and squeezes Lan Wangji tightly to prompt him to move. Lan Wangji complies. He moves slowly and carefully, eliciting sweet sounds out of his husband that he muffles with sweet kisses. He keeps the languid rhythm until he feels like the fire growing inside him is going to burn him alive. He straightens then, getting a firm grip on Wei Wuxian’s hips, and starts pounding him vigorously, each thrust pushing a grunt out of Wei Ying’s kiss-swollen lips.
“Lan Zhan, you brute!” he cries out. “You are merciless to this weak little body! Do you think you can do whatever you please to your poor husband just because it’s your birthday?”

I decided to continue the revisions of my Old Guard Xicheng AU. This fic has been sitting finished in my WIP folder for months. I don’t even understand why. As I’m working on it again, I’m realizing how much I LOVE this story. I hope this time I will finally be able to finish the revisions and have it betaed and posted.

Summary: Jiang Cheng sees a young man get hit by a car. He watches as the kid lets out his last breath, then takes another. Jiang Cheng decides to take care of Jin Ling - the newbie immortal. He knows how hard it is to adjust even though the first time he died has been over a thousand years ago. He didn’t have anyone to help him back then. It doesn’t mean he’s been alone all those years. He has his archenemy, the only constant in his long life, Lan Xichen.

latest anon w the host and angst stuff (my tag can be 🎮🍰 to distinguish me :3) yeah, i try to redirect them to their own source stuff or to draw stuff related to the body's trauma since they're most connected to the body and i get why they like angst, but not when they want to do it with my source! since, yanno, im right here!
it's a bit difficult to avoid my source trauma though and i want to ask if there's any tips you have on avoiding source trauma when it's common in fanart or fan material that's not just "stop looking at fandom tags" since i do enjoy it when people make cute and happy art of me and my friends!
also, just if you have any basic tips on how to cope with trauma related to fandom stuff, since? it's kinda hard to describe but it feels different than ""regular"" trauma. its engrained into a fandom-culture and most of the triggers are like. related to my source's media (it's a minecraft show (and you can probably guess who i am if you know the show) and so playing minecraft, sometimes things in the game can trigger feelings of the trauma itself) and its not just host that enjoys making angst content about me sadly
Sorry for answering this so late! But yeah that’s valid I hope they were understanding. As for tips we aren’t the most helpful since we do mostly just avoid fandom as a whole lately but here’s some thoughts
1. You could ask the fanblogs you want to follow to tag those triggering things specifically so you can still get content that doesn’t have that/can filter out what you dislike
2. If that isn’t enough you could maybe ask a friend to go looking through tags and stuff for you to show you stuff you’d like whilst avoiding the triggering parts?
As for coping I guess we mostly just remind ourselves that these are strangers who weren’t really there/their opinions don’t reflect our own actions or our worth. Not exactly a coping method though so hm... mostly I’d say avoiding the fandom as much as convenient and limiting who we talked to about source did really help us so I’m sorry I don’t have much advice other than that. if anyone wants to suggest things in the comments though feel free!

My first TV show fandom: Also really not sure! It might have been an anime… maybe Pokémon but I’m really not sure. I remember being obsessive though?
How old I was: honest to god no idea. I would go on family devices and look them up on google.
Latest fandom I’ve joined: Hmm there’s probably a fandom I’ve interacted with in the past year that I haven’t been normal about + that wasn’t an old fandom I revisited when new material dropped. However the fandom I’ve been consistently interacting with is the Harringrove fandom!
TV/Movie fandom I haven’t joined but that I creep upon: Lowkey Howl’s Moving Castle? WAIT SHIT STEVEN UNIVERSE honest to god I only watched the first season but I’ve been keeping up with the drama through osmosis for years now and recently went hm. I remember the SU critical people always bringing up points I didn’t agree with, but thought I was the exception. I see now that I was correct for my opinions.
Favorite fandom: Ahhhh probably Kingdom Hearts or Harringrove. The Harringrove fandom is so nice and supportive!!! Never had a fandom so. Positive??? :] But the KH fandom always has such a special place in my heart… you guys are so deranged 💖 (in the most positive way possible.) But also god. The JJBA fandom is also so fun. Like I loved it there too, so much. In conclusion I love everything in this world. Peace and love
Most brainrot TV show: this is a great question I’m not quite sure I can answer. I guess I’m really more used to video games? But. No. 6 and Link Click did something to my brain. In recent memory.
Favorite fictional couple: You can’t ask me that question, man… everyone wins in my world… I think the like. Founding blocks of my tastes lie in Kawoshin and Caejose. Amen. You can really see that when you look at the fact that I ship Soriku and Harringrove. Like now that I think about they have the same vibes damn 💀 actually even the same plot points??? Caejose and Harringrove have a spoiled rich brunette boy and a bemulleted blonde boy who got abused and died in common 💀💀💀 and kawoshin and soriku have the whole “doomed and terribly loving in every world” type of vibe 💀💀💀
Guilty Pleasure TV show: Stranger things. 💀 honest to god what I actually care about is the actors and their performances. The plot takes a backseat to that LMAO
