Essential Elements of an Unlimited/Infinite Flow Story
As someone attempting to write my own Unli Flow, I thought I’d take note of the different elements so I can have a guide I can always refer back to.
I’ve explained what Unli Flow means many times before, but in case you missed it: Unlimited/Infinite Flow is a genre in Chinese web novels that feature characters entering multiple “instances” where they have to complete a challenge and/or solve a mystery. Failure in doing so would lead to consequences, most often death.
There’s also this definition by AshuraYami from the NovelUpdates Forum:
Unlimited Flow/Infinite Flow is a genre originating from the CN novel Terror Infinity. The genre mainly revolves on world hopping involving fictional works (anime, comics, movies, games and novels) and/or original worlds created by the author. Infinite Flow, as it’s ‘infinite’ namesake suggests, can accommodate all other genres, be it fantasy, sci-fi, horror, romance, etc. Representative works are Terror Infinity (origin of genre), Reincarnation Paradise (most chapters and word count), The Ultimate Evolution (promoter of data flow, an infinite flow derivative that is more game-like litRPG) and Thriller Paradise (most famous horror infinite flow).
With the definition out of the way, let’s goooo
[This post will also serve as a rec list of sorts, since I’ll be giving examples of each element from different danmei novels.]

1. The Authority
The entity/system in charge of the Unlimited Flow system as a whole. Most stories just chalk it up to the Unli Flow being some kind of otherworldly being/extremely advanced AI that just likes to mess with people.

From having read numerous Unli Flow stories, I conclude that crucial to a great, not just good, Unli Flow story is a well-defined Authority. The explanation behind the Authority’s existence and motives is the foundation to the entire story.
You can have a very fancy building (cool instances, well-developed characters, an exciting enemies to lovers couple, etc.), but if the foundation is flimsy, the building’s value would plummet in your eyes. You can still appreciate the building, of course, but you will never be content with it.
Examples of some novels that are good in almost everything else except The Authority (in my opinion): [spoilery]
Supernatural Movie Actor App: It was too profound with not enough groundwork laid for it, resulting in The Authority feeling detached from the main story.
I Upended Yet Another Campus Urban Legend: The Authority was not exactly bad; it was just inadequate. The justification of the Unli Flow existing became unconvincing because of this.
Escape the Infinite Chamber: THE AUTHORITY IS SO FUCKING RIDICULOUS THAT IT’S ABYSMAL. And the entire thing was explained in just one scene and from one extra??? SO MUCH PAIN AND SUFFERING AND THAT’S THE ONLY EXPLANATION WE GET??? HORRENDOUS!

2. Instances
Also known as “copy.” The other world/dimension where players have to face the different challenges.
The Authority may be the foundation, but the Instances are the defining aspect of the Unlimited Flow.
A lot of novels, however, are quite perfunctory when it comes to instances, just using it to further the main couple or as a mere stepping stone to the overarching plot. Or, if they’re not being perfunctory, then the Instances are just plain boring.
The first instance, especially, tend to be the most boring. Authors often use this to dump all the information about how their unli flow works. This often gets better by the time the 2nd or 3rd instance comes around....
Upon successful completion of an Instance, players will then be rewarded with either points, special abilities, magic items, etc.
Examples of novels with GREAT instances (based on logic, thrill, horror, etc. Again, all in my own opinion):
I Became a God in a Horror Game: The horror is present all throughout. I can still remember the fear I felt while reading about the statues in the first Instance. Each instance/arc also emotionally impacts you, an effect that most Unli Flow writers don’t really aim for or just generally tend to fail at. (This is also my favorite unli flow novel at the moment~)
The Earth is Online: (same author as Fourth Perspective, which I’ve posted a lot about before) What I love about Mo Chen Huan, the author, is how they write intelligent MC’s but without making them seem too OP. And this is because she actually shows us the MC’s thought process, inviting us to think along with them and figure out how to solve the challenge, and not just make her characters say “aha!”. This is what makes the Instances in TEIO great and memorable.
High Energy QR Code: The story could make use of more showing than telling, but I actually love the Instances in this novel. You know how good stories are often described as a well-made tapestry in that every little thread contributes to the big beautiful picture? That’s how each Instance reads in this novel. (Absolutely love the Instance about the town where everybody lies.)

3. NPCs
A gaming term which stands for “Non-Player Character.” Refers to characters who live within Instances and act in such ways that further the plot or challenge presented by the Instance. They may go against players or assist them. May or may not have a will of their own.
Examples of NPCs:
Xu Beijin, the protagonist of Being an Extra Actor in an Escape Game
Lu Chu, the protagonist of Insider.

The male leads from Escape the Infinite Chamber, I Became a God in a Horror Game, Killing God with Junk Cards, etc. (Most danmei ML are special!NPCs 😩)

4. Player Hall
A space outside of instances where different players can gather and exchange information. Most of the time, this is in a space still separate from the real world. Players are often prohibited from using their powers in this space.
In some novels, Players have no choice but to live here, completely cutting them off from the real world. In this case, accommodation quality will depend on the Player’s level or points.

5. Personal System
The Personal System issues challenges to the player and keeps track of their current attributes, physical and mental state, etc.. It also calculates rewards and punishments for the player. First and foremost in service to The Authority (if they aren’t, then they’re most likely the Love Interest in disguise. And if not, the Player had somehow swayed it to their side).

6. System Store
The points earned from the different Instances serve as the Players’ currency, and they can use it to buy things from the System Store. The Store may sell weapons, medicine, magical items, or even special abilities. Basically, any item that can help the Player during Instances. Of course, it may also sell non-magical items, like food and everyday items, at a much lower price than special items

7. Player’s Goal/Wish
In some novels, the Goal is simply to clear all the Instances and leave the Unli Flow for good. But in others, the Unli Flow allow Players to exchange their points for a Wish. The more difficult the Wish, the more points are needed, and the more Instances are needed to be cleared.
Examples of a Goal/Wish:
Supernatural Movie Actor App: Xie Chi wants to give his second personality a body of his own.
I Became a God in a Horror Game: If I’m remembering it correctly… Bai Liu just wants to have lots of money
I Upended Yet Another Campus Urban Legend: Lin Yi wants to learn the truth about his parents
Thriller Tour Group: Wei Xun wants to find the truth about his family’s disappearance… and his Wish is to uhh… feel pain?
After the Little Crybaby Enters the Nightmare Cycle: Chi Nan’s Wish is to regain his vision, stop crying and get his memories back.
Death Spiral: To uhh… figure out what the voice in the Elevator is trying to tell them? To regain their memories? [The actual Wish is a big spoiler, so I won’t mention it here.]

I am howling at the sky for the look tonight that Harvey Guillén staked to death, spat on, and made it beg on the red carpet. Instead of just ranting to my queer fashion/fandom retail friends again, I took our collective slobber and tears to outline my plea to the fashion gods.
Why doesn’t this man have a ‘mens’wear line in every American mall? There is a gap in the market for adventurous, queer friendly suiting available through a retailer like Macys/J C Penney. Yes, retail is dying and wedding industry more so, but that’s particular to what’s available for consumers as well. Suiting is turned from off the rack into iconic by proper tailoring, but let me tell you from working all sides of the bridal salon, even up-scale clothing lines are getting rude as hell about quality and assembly to prevent tailoring and longevity.
This kid’s Disney charm would be perfect for introducing a plus size, inclusive line of fashion-forward pieces which include, say a QR code video about taking your own measurements, how adjustments work, with pieces designed to be sleek, with enough allowance for tailoring, and minding the lines in the garment to make the adjustments for plus size bodies easier. It’s no more adjustments than are made on straight size bodies, it’s just straight size bodies have more options to find a line which works with their natural shape.
But in my experience, it’s gender non-conforming folks and plus sized folks who get pushed out of finding pieces they can actually use for celebrations or work, much less pieces with actual personality that spark joy. This man has been killing it for years, really getting some clutch looks for events and invites in the fashion world. He’s showing proof of concept every time he steps in front of a camera.
Watching Harvey’s fashion evolution, I trust his fashion team and judgement to create a mid/high line for workwear to events suiting embracing a gender nonconforming audience. I can’t think of anyone better situated to become the ambassador of a brand with *the* formal wear for queer events and special occasions. I was tickled to see he sells his own merch and hope this experience convinces him of the joy working with artists and connecting their visions to a wanting public, dipping toes into the new ethical, sustainable trends in fashion. His looks alone shows he’s done his homework over the years about timelessness and early adopting trends.
For the years I worked selling/tailoring wedding dresses, there was the prophetic ‘someday… along will come the man who revives men’s fashion for events again’ to save the David’s bridal/men’s wear house lines who keep dropping plus sizes like mine and dying off. As the pet butch in the bridal salon I pleaded to the sky for better suiting options. Add that to my butch lezzy ways and trans masc circle of friends I legit spent this past Friday night drunk in a bar with a seam ripper adjusting jackets and darting pants in an unplanned sewing circle for a bachelorette until it was my round of karaoke. This isn’t the first time I’ve spontaneously started tailoring for the queers, I can’t keep up with the demand! Y’all we are in our twenties to mid thirties there should be better options than this that don’t require a vacation to LA/NY!!
I have ethical, sustainable fashion preferences about slipping in a retailer versus an online brand. But for the vision of accessible clothing to the masses pushing the envelope of the kind of quality only vintage pieces are affording the general public, this is the only celebrity really posed with the image, high energy, and bona fides to be the face of it. His connections in the fashion game are only growing as WWDITS wraps up.
If this man opened a pop-up suiting/fashion shop I’d take my limited time and resources to really dig in to the designers he promoted. I’d be howling in the streets for my celebrants to go get a Gullién. There’s no shortage online pattern makers, but there is a shortage of queer friendly shops to really get pieces that pop and it feels safe to enjoy in a retail environment. For average people wanting to engage with fashion that affirms their identity on their special day, there’s too much fucking compromise. Honestly it’s nice that I have a side hustle sewing to pattern, but I’d give it up in a fucking heartbeat for there to be actually sustainable and approachable options. I wish there was an in between of being ‘affordable’ gnc suiting in an American mall but add plus size availability and it gets sad for your most thrifty, creative friends. Someone needs the step in the gap, and why not someone at the top of the game?
Even if it was just a pop up line every few years, I’d fucking salivate over every image in that catalogue two thousand miles away for what it can teach home sewists just by virtue of curating those artisans with the express goal of queer, fat friendly designs playing together. Just the existence of vintage shops like Proud Mary creates a boom across the inter-webs of new sewists per post. Could anyone really imagine if there were actually accessible stores in key cities/supported by an online catalog with a personable, rising star as the brand face?

They're out here reviewing RedBull and Crazy Tiger Lemon like we're in 2018.... aren't you ashamed to post such basic stuff? What are you doing? We're way past that. You look stupid. Anyway. It's been a while... Let me show you my sexy selection.

Carabao Energy Drink: interesting because it goes back to the very origin of energy drinks: Thailand! The first energy drink was created in Thailand in 1975, and was then adapted to create RedBull. So thank you for that. Carabao is the most popular energy drink in Thailand after RedBull. God we're learning so much today! The can size is cute, however it tastes extremely sweet and sour, and is not carbonated at all which was kind of unsettling. Interesting experience though, it's a completely different taste palette from western energy drinks imo. I drank 2 cans and felt nothing, as usual! 3/5 stars.

Freez Mix Energy Dragon: I forgot to take a pic but believe me, we did buy that stupid thing. First of all, these drinks are packaged like beer bottles as a 6-pack, which I should have been suspicious of. I found out at the cash register that the 6-pack costs 10€ but by then it was too late, and luckily the cashier was also drinking an orange RedBull so when she saw my face fall at the price, she joked about RedBull being even more expensive instead of making fun of me, so I knew I was in a safe space for idiots and alpha males. So basically when it comes to the taste....it's bad? I'm so sorry for being a hater but this is just not good and not what I expect from an energy drink. Luckily for the Freez Mix company, before I'm a hater, I'm also an intellectual and a scientist, so I looked up their website to understand their intent and creative process. This wasn't hard to do, because on the bottle right nex to the cap was a QR code that said "Scan the QR code to open the bottle safely!". I was like... Do you think I'm stupid? I need a QR code to do what now? And then I opened the bottle and spilled the drink all over myself. This drink is carbonated to the high heavens. So we scanned the code, which links you to a stupid YouTube video where they show how to open the bottle, and they opened it normally just like I did, but they're just full of lies because their drink didn't spill all over. Anyway! So we also checked their website and found out they're really trying to create a line of fancy drinks that will look good at parties where everyone drinks alcohol but you don't. So this is why this energy drink has like a beer fursona. And tastes like shit non-alcoholic beer mixed with energy drink. I also found out that's it's called Dragon because it's supposed to be dragonfruit flavoured? I wouldn't have guessed. To me it tastes too bitter to be an energy drink, but it's not like it's a jägerbomb either. This drink just hasn't found itself yet. It's on a journey. Unfortunately, I needed to be on a journey too since we bought 6 of these, so I had to learn to like the taste, and the fact that every single bottle spills everywhere no matter how you open it. Possibly so you can chug it at frat parties like a real beer? I don't think that would make you very popular. 2/5 stars, this drink was all over the place.

Bang Energy Drink Candy Apple Crisp: so this one sent me in a bit of a crisis. Not much to say about it, but avid readers will remember that I once reviewed a personal favourite, Monster Energy Ultra Paradise, and said that it tasted like the green apple artificial flavour. However, this Bang is now supposed to taste exactly like that but with sugar candy on top. However², I don't see how you can make a drink that already usually tastes fully of sugar taste like more sugar. So this just tastes like energy drink with an artificial apple flavour, but NOT as much as the Monster one that isn't supposed to taste like that at all. Life is complicated. I just feel like this Bang is a travesty of something I love and cherish. 2/5 stars, the flavour was okay but -3 taken for the disrespect of my loved ones.

yeah my tl;dr opinion on the second billboard is that it’s gonna have very little impact on making us more visible and probably very little direct impact on our chances of getting renewed, but if it makes some ppl feel like they’re doing something then i don’t rlly care bc it’s not my money. that being said, i’m a little worried that the second billboard might end up hurting the general ofmd fandom’s morale more than helping.
elaboration under the cut bc this shit got long
so the ofmd fandom has already caught the attention of the media, we have new articles being written about us pretty frequently. hbo/wbd is also facing a lot of public backlash for their continuous cancellation of tv shows, especially diverse shows, AND they are specifically getting a lot of shit abt refusing to sell coyote v acme. they have a lot of money to gain via tax write-offs from shelving thay movie and refusing to sell, but refusing to sell ofmd isn’t gonna make them that kind of money. so public pressure + financial incentive combined, there’s a pretty good chance of wbd selling ofmd to another studio.
ironing out a deal with netflix/apple tv/amazon+ is gonna take time tho. from a fandom perspective, it’s already been be a very long, very demoralizing waiting game, and personally i would be surprised if we’re even halfway through it.
so there are two things at play when it comes to the fandom giving djenks et al the best chance of securing the best deal for this show: maintaining visibility and maintaining fandom morale. obviously visibility is more directly affecting the negotiations, but morale is important in keeping as many ppl in the fandom active as we can during this gravy basket of a waiting period.
so the question is, how does the second billboard serve those goals? will it maintain or increase our visibility? will it boost fandom morale?
before i get into the second billboard tho, i wanna talk abt the first billboard.
i think we can all agree that the nyt billboard boosted morale: cast and crew were posting about it, djenks shared a selfie in front of it, the energy on ofmdtwt and in discord servers and here on tumblr was very hopeful and excited. it was an emotional high point that i think we’re all kinda missing as the weeks drag on and we approach the two-month mark since the cancellation.
but did the nyt billboard increase or maintain our visibility? more specifically, did it increase or maintain our visibility to a degree that was proportionate to the amount of money spent?
i’ll be honest, i don’t know the answer to that one. i don’t know much about advertising or about tracking ROI for things like billboards and flyover banners. i think, though, that any significant increase in visibility came not from the billboard itself, but from the social media response to the billboard. the excitement of seeing cast and crew talking abt the billboard had us all hyped up and posting/tweeting in our excitement, and that got us trending. the livestream of the billboard probably had an increase in viewership, which i’m sure is something that gets tracked somewhere. and i’m also sure wbd execs were aware of the billboard, and djenks tagging netflix, apple, and amazon means those executives were definitely made aware of it, too
but i’m doubtful abt how much the nyt billboard raised our visibility outside of a few ppl in the streaming/entertainment industry and outside of the ofmd fandom. there were already articles being written about us by that point—did any publications decide to write more articles abt the renewal campaign directly because of the billboard? did the campaign for s3 reach the general public? did site traffic to the petition actually increase? did anyone on the streets of new york or LA actually follow the link/qr code/whatever to learn more about what was being advertised?
on twitter, at least one person who had been supportive of the renewal efforts and who claimed to have relevant industry experience said that the return-on-investment from the billboard/truck/flyover was shockingly small, meaning that for the amount of money that was spent, we should have received more site traffic, more social media buzz, more mainstream awareness than what we got. this is not me saying the ofmd fandom was scammed—the people who donated money were told what the money was going to be used for, and the money was used exactly as promised. but the criticism was that if the goal was to increase our visibility, perhaps the money could’ve been spent differently.
so that’s the nyt billboard: successful at raising morale, unclear exactly how effective it was at increasing visibility. now for the london billboard, located on the vue cinema on leicester square
first, a few things about the site of the london billboard: the ad space being purchased is not, as i have seen claimed, on a hugely iconic billboard and venue. arguably, it is not even located on leicester square. the giant billboard is on a budget movie theater that is right off the corner of leicester square. people have been confusing the vue theater with the odeon theater, which is an iconic landmark in the middle of leicester square where movie premiers happen and where many tourists stop to take pictures. from what i’ve seen (and heard from various uk fans), the foot traffic by the vue theater is not really comparable to the foot traffic at the location of the first billboard.
so, billboard 2 and visibility. the question of if this billboard increases visibility of the campaign, whether that be via successfully advertising to the people walking by or via generating social media buzz.
the thing with the foot traffic issue is i’m honestly not sure how much of a boon the high amount of foot traffic was to the first billboard. bc honestly, how many pedestrians pay attention to billboards enough to actually check out the thing that’s being advertised? probably not very many, hence why there was criticisms that the billboard yielded a low ROI. if there was any increase in our visibility externally (by which i mean, not within studios or within the industry, and not within the fandom and other ppl already aware of the existence of the renewal campaign), it most likely came primarily from articles and social media buzz.
i personally am doubtful that the second billboard is gonna generate the same kind of attention online. the location is less flashy than the first one, david jenkins probably isn’t gonna fly over to london to take a selfie with it, and simply the fact that it’s a second billboard is gonna decrease the energy in how ppl respond to it. like, we already did this in a very famous tourist location. now we’re doing it again, only it’s around the corner from a different, slightly less famous tourist location. the surprise and excitement we saw from the cast and crew will inherently be lessened when we pull the same trick twice. that might also extend to media coverage—how many times do we think journalists are gonna cover the same media stunt pulled by the same general group of people? there is a possibility that the answer to that is only once.
but, to be fair, i did say that visibility was only one part of the equation. the other important thing was morale and keeping the fandom’s energy up, something that is going to get harder and harder the more time passes without us hearing any news.
a second billboard is definitely one way of tackling that issue. fans can meet up at the billboard, post selfies with it, hang out. it’s kind of a cool thing, to see a huge sign on a billboard and know that it was a bunch of passionate fans put it there. and we already know that the first billboard had everyone pumped. more than increasing visibility, maybe this is the primary goal of the second billboard: to hype up the fandom.
i worry, though, that it’s not going to hype up the fandom in the way people are hoping for. like i said, i doubt we’re going to see the same outpouring of excitement from cast and crew that we did the first time around—even already some of the actors have said to the fandom that it’s not worth it for us to spend our money this way. and even within the wider ofmd fandom itself, i would not be surprised if fans just aren’t as excited by this second billboard simply because it’s the second billboard. already, it seems to me like ofmd fans who aren’t directly contributing to the renewal campaign aren’t responding as enthusiastically to this billboard as they did the first one—there’s a question of why it’s necessary, what it’s going to accomplish. so a less encouraging response to this billboard might make a lot of people feel disheartened, disappointed.
and christ, that’s not even mentioning the fact that that almost every time this fandom is trending, there’s a wave of “ofmd fans kys” sentiment that is quick to follow. i have long ago accepted that suicide baiting as a regular part of my internet experience, but most people have not (and frankly, they shouldn’t). a lot of people just will stop posting about ofmd if they get attacked for doing so. if that happens, it is 100% going to negatively impact the renewal campaign and our chances of getting picked up by a different studio.
even if none of this happens, even if the morale is boosted tenfold by the new billboard, i just feel like there are other ways to keep the energy up without crowdfunding ridiculous amounts of money. we already have samba gradually doling out bts content in tiny doses and catapulting us through the roof with each one. i’m also a fan of what AdoptOurCrew is doing on twitter, sharing articles and info and coming up with silly little games to play with their followers. it’s not a huge stunt like a billboard, and it’s not gonna get us on the front page of a huge pop culture publication, but we already have a pretty consistent stream coming in of articles mentioning ofmd and the renewal effort. also, yes, what aoc is doing is not the huge adrenaline high of the nyt billboard, but this is gonna be a marathon, not a sprint. there are a lot of ofmd fans, so if we just keep the general fandom feeling reasonably good abt posting ofmd content, that’s more than enough to keep our online presence consistent enough that studios will know we’re invested in that s3. but if we keep chasing highs we’re gonna burn out fast—at the very least just bc ppl are gonna run out of cash.
that’s what my concern comes down to, really: the money. because to me, the use of actual real-world money should go towards boosting visibility, and boosting morale can come from simply engaging in the fandom, doing fun projects, spreading positivity. and i am very, very doubtful that this second billboard is going to increase the show’s visibility to people who aren’t already aware of ofmd and what’s going on with the renewal. i understand that the idea was to capitalize on s2 airing on the bbc–a good idea, but if the intention is to reach this new audience, shouldn’t the ads should go somewhere they’re going to be more visible, more inescapable? the underground would’ve been a good choice, imo, bc the cell service down there sucks and ppl have no choice but to stare at the walls while they wait for the train. but this might have been less effective at boosting morale, because it’s less flashy and a significantly worse place for fans to meet up. so it’s about what the priority is here: is the money primarily for boosting morale, or boosting visibility?
like i said, i think prioritizing morale-boosting is the wrong choice. and even if that wasn’t the intention, i think that’s the only thing that’s gonna be affected in any way by the billboard. but like, that’s why i didn’t donate to the crowdfunding for this billboard (or to the first one tbh). bc ppl can spend their money however they want, even if i think it’s a waste. currently the average donation to the SaveOFMD ko-fi is abt £34, or $40. i’m not gonna get that worked up over a few hundred strangers online spending $40 for something i think is a waste. ppl spend all sorts of money on stuff i think is a waste. who cares.
if everything backfires and the billboard ends up hurting the renewal campaign then… idk. i hope if it blows up into drama that the drama gets to be funny, at least.

its the first xianxia that doesnt overwhelm me with the worldbuilding... mb bc its a pure xianxia n not part historical? mb bc its relatively short and small-scaled with only a couple key players and sects relevant to the plot? so it was also a lot easier to digest.
qiu congxue is my fave. i want an entire spinoff of qiu congxue, baili mingqiao, zhongli qian, and... the ghost disciple im sry i forgot ur name. but man id love to read their 30 yrs worth of misadventures. shes the greatest. saving he wenzhao: "why should the elixir be given to this useless ass? clearly it should go to me, im stronger." marrying liu xinye to he wenzhao: "they boned? get them to marry. shes prob only gna live another 10 yrs anw, baili mingqiao, if u still want this ass by then, u can take her place."
zhongli qian is my 2nd fave. he's everyones unofficial babysitter. truly the only sane one in the series. 
the 2 leads r also good but like... these 2 rly stole the show for me. i love qiu congxue
that said, the cast is relatively small, which is probably why they're more fleshed out and also easier to follow
i read a review that said sth like cyan wings wrote casually described insanity n that's rly the perfect way to encapsulate this wn. "casually described insanity".
mm the not-quite-there connection between shu yanyan and zhongli qian was also delicious. i love how shu yanyan was written, how she's full of logic when it comes to love and knows full well how dangerous it is. how she sees zhongli qian as a man worthy of respect but also knows that loving someone is a risk she isn't sure she wants to take. how zhongli qian mb doesn't seem entirely unopposed to shu yanyan? but he also has a path he's always wanted to follow, and he will follow the path to discover and spread his own dao.

Shenzhen Longhua Hosts Immersive Digital Technology Experience Event Foreign Talents Appreciate the Charm of Longhua's Technology
“What digital smart services are available in Shenzhen Longhua?” “What are the eye-catching ‘black tech’ products from Longhua companies?” The answers to these questions were revealed during an immersive digital technology experience event. On March 31st, the event “Shenzhen Technology Stories · Foreign Talents Explore Smart Longhua” and the offline sharing session of the “Global Messenger · Shenzhen Stories Club” were held at the Longhua International Cooperation Center, attracting nearly 40 foreign talents and enthusiasts from the technology field.
The keywords “digitalization”, “technologization”, and “intelligentization” permeated the day's event and were the most direct impressions of Longhua for the foreign attendees. At the Longhua District Future City Exhibition Hall, through vivid digital charts, audiovisuals, and interactive installations, they gained an intuitive understanding of Longhua's historical roots, marveling at the tremendous transformation from a manufacturing town to a digital district.
Sava Tomoiaga, a Shenzhen entrepreneur since the 1990s, was amazed by the day-to-day changes in the Longhua District. She said, “New libraries and art galleries have been built here. I will bring my children to visit these places, looking forward to coming to Longhua again.”
Muhammad Hamza Younes, a PhD student at Shenzhen University, stated that he had never visited Longhua before, and today's visit left him with a profound impression of Longhua's technological and green development.
Louay Ali Dib (Luoyi) believes that the cost of living in the Longhua District is very reasonable. Living here, one can enjoy a high-quality life at a relatively low cost, experiencing convenience and comfort. In his view, this is the most unique charm of the Longhua District.
At the “Global Messenger · Shenzhen Stories Club” Longhua Showroom, located in the Longhua District International Cooperation Center, the five major industrial clusters of Longhua including low-altitude economy, digital economy, new energy, high-end medical equipment, semiconductors, and integrated circuits were showcased, dazzling the foreign tech enthusiasts present.

This event also marked the official launch of the “Global Messenger · Shenzhen Stories Club”. As a highlight of the journey to Longhua's technology, a unique technology story theme sharing session immersed all attendees in the endless charm of technology. Three foreign technology experts shared their stories of engaging in the tech field and their experiences closely related to technology.
Michael John Eagleton from Australia spoke on the theme of “The Application of Technology in Shenzhen”. Eagleton deeply interpreted Shenzhen's remarkable progress in fields such as 5G technology, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and electric vehicles. He emphasized that Shenzhen not only has a deep culture of technological innovation but is also the first choice for global innovators and entrepreneurs, adding infinite vitality to the city's technological development.
Following him, Alain Garner shared on the theme of “Artificial Intelligence (AI)”. He suggested that the next important direction for AI is to transform it from complex textual content to genuinely human-centered design. His views sparked deep reflection among attendees on how artificial intelligence technology could better serve human society.
Finally, Louay Ali Dib (Luoyi) from Syria discussed the impact of artificial intelligence on humanity, sparking resonance among the audience.
The event concluded with the award ceremony for the “Most Active Messenger of 2023”, recognizing nine individuals who actively participated in international activities over the past year, conveying Shenzhen's stories and voice to the international community.
The “Shenzhen Global Messenger Plan” was initiated by EyeShenzhen in June last year. The plan aims to invite international individuals interested in Shenzhen's urban development, willing to actively participate in Shenzhen's international city construction, and possessing professional backgrounds and influential circles to serve as Shenzhen's global messengers. These messengers will share Shenzhen's city stories on international social media and various media platforms, spreading city observations and collectively building an international communication community with Shenzhen characteristics.
