#Handmade Meatball Noodle

Asked mum where she wanted to go for dinner and she chose XO Minced Meat Noodles (XO 肉脞麵), a noodle outlet operated by Yew Kee (友記). Mum got herself the S$4.50 bowl of Chicken Cutlet Noodle (炸鸡扒面) with fried boneless chicken and a sprinkling of crispy tempura bits.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While I went for the Handmade Meatball Noodle (手工肉丸面) at S$5.50. I chose the same dry style thin yellow noodles but mine came with four deep-fried meatballs and a fried dumpling plus the tempura crispy bits. To end the meal, we ordered our Iced Milk Coffee and Kopi O or coffee black.

Chapter 1: Paris, Pt. 2
Last night was amazing. We ended up going to dinner at an Asian restaurant, unknown to me before this trip but Paris has amazing Asian food. We got dumplings, noodles, and delicious mochi. Since it was still fairly early, we ended up going to a speakeasy, the sister one to the one from the night before. Lavomatic, a laundrymat speakesy, was a blast. We sat at the bar and made friends with the bartender, Pierre. Here, we got handmade cocktails, where I got one that tasted like cucumber and lavender, and the second being a twist on a classic pornstar martini. After having amazing drinks, he was kind enough to hand write recommendations to his favorite restaurants and bars in the area. Moments like this made me not only appreciate the company I had with me but how fun it can be to try new things (aka the art of a good cocktail) and strike up conversation with people I might not normally talk to.
Today, we spent 4 hours exploring the D’Orsay musuem. Not only was I not expecting the size of the musuem to be so large, but I thoroughly enjoyed taking my time with each art piece. Today, I determined my favorite art (as of now) is Impressionism and Neo-Impressionism as I enjoyed viewing the works of Manet, Cezanne, Van Gogh, and Pissarro. It is nice when art can capture you for hours, just like a good book, today reminded how pleasant it can be spending time looking at art. It is interesting how intimate it can be looking at art pieces while still being surrounded in a room of people. Each person has their own unique expierence with the piece.
Later, we were able to explore the Catacombs. It was super interesting learning about the history behind it and definetly worth going to. We were lucky enough that they let us in as we showed up several hours late because we wanted to spend more time at the art museum. After, we went home and I napped and slept like a corpse. I woke up feeling groggy and not wanting to do much but I’m glad once the glaze of being tired passed we went with the original plan to go to Ground Control. This area was awesome and had a bunch of different food stands with cuisine raining from Greek, South American, African, and Italian. We got a platter of African foods, some meatball dish and Samoas. Catering to my sweet tooth we searched for desert and landed on tiramisu. How will this compare to Italy I thought before trying it, and surprisingly it faired very well. It was definetly a proper tiramisu and only cost €5! I am excited for our adventures for tomorrow.

Crave for Lor Mee? 🍜⁣ ⁣ Come by 𝐅𝐞𝐧𝐠 𝐙𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐋𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐞, a well-loved traditional lor mee stall which was awarded a Michelin Plate in the MICHELIN Guide Singapore 2021. Gladwin Teo, the third-generation successor has recently opened a new stall in Yishun to share this heart-warming dish.⁣ ⁣ Feng Zhen Lor Mee is known for its 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐞 (S$4/S$6) with a delicious combination of handmade pork meatballs, tender Batang fish, noodles, and eggs.⁣ You will love its thick slurp-worthy broth, tasted like shark fin soup, which is created using a closely guarded family recipe.⁣ ⁣ Traditional Lor Mee goes well with flat noodles the most and you will have a choice of your favourite noodle (classic flat noodles, vermicelli, yellow noodles, or kway teow) to enjoy with the shark fin-like gravy. The meatballs are handmade on the spot while the fatty and lean minced meat is chopped up and then fried to create a crispy exterior, which belies a chewy juiciness inside.⁣ ⁣ Check out also their 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐋𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐞 (S$6/S$8) where Batang fish is used instead of the usual red grouper. It is then deep fried to perfection with no batter used, so that you are able to taste the freshness. Feng Zhen is one of the first to use batang fish when most hawkers used fish dory with batter or shark meat.⁣ ⁣ With quality ingredients and delicious broth, you won’t want to miss this delectable dishes! 👍🏻😋⁣ ⁣ 📍Feng Zhen Lor Mee⁣ Blk 417 Yishun Avenue 11⁣ Singapore 760417⁣ 🕢 Mondays to Sundays: 7.30am to 8pm (at Feng Zhen Lor Mee) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cdw13kcBf7p/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

[CN] 4th Anniversary– “Love Around The City” with Victor (Part 3)
⌚Warning⌚ This post contains detailed spoilers for contents that are yet to be released in the global server! ♡
🚌 Previous Station: Hongluan Temple
Tumblr media
Today’s Station: Meetery Eatery
This is the most popular and artistically designed restaurant in Floral Road. Using unprocessed woods and iron art as its base décor, this place provides customers with the most cozy dining experience.
Meetery Eatery is currently holding a competition for chefs. The rule of the competition is for them to use limited ingredients to cook dishes that the customers are satisfied with.
We’ve been asked to assist the chefs in selecting the ingredients. Since the customers must be satisfied, why don’t we understand the preferences of the customers first?
┈┈ ◍♡◍ ┈┈┈ ◍♡◍ ┈┈
[NOTE]: I will be adding details for the locations, but will be summarizing the tips for the tasks, cause I’m short on time :’(
✧ [Location 1: Jade Book Store] ✧
Tumblr media
The refined yet somewhat nostalgic atmosphere in this small bookstore, the seats near the window and in the corners are very suitable for enjoying the slow passage of time and a book.
[Task Management Tips]: Look for recipes and books related to science of ingredients to see if you find something new.
[IDLE CHAT]
Victor: You seem to be really an expert at finding these small hidden stores.
MC: Indeed~
MC: I’ve personally tread into many culinary delicacy and travel shows.
MC: I’ve also customized a little list of stores that I want to go with you.
Victor: Then, from today onwards, we can put them on our schedules one by one.
[TASK]
MC: The latest edition of “Loveland Food” features wintry recipes.
MC: There’s scrambled eggs with spinach, crucian carp meatball soup, spicy vermicelli tofu, borscht with tomatoes and potatoes....
MC: None of these dishes are too unfamiliar!
Tumblr media
Victor: After all, I’ve made all these dishes in order to satisfy the appetite of a certain “taste tester.”
Tumblr media
MC: Yet another winter is here. Shouldn’t Chef Victor be preparing a wintry menu?
Tumblr media
Victor: If you can come up with any more wintry recipes, we can introduce them together. We still have a long winter ahead of us, so I can make them for you slowly.
┈┈ ◍♡◍ ┈┈┈ ◍♡◍ ┈┈
✧ [Location 2: Old Items Market] ✧
Tumblr media
Old Items Market is a magical place. Whether you’re searching for retro out-of-print items or second hand discounted goods, this place will be able to satisfy you.
[Task Management Tips]: Even though the endless supply of cheap snacks is hard to resist, some people have reservations about this....
[IDLE CHAT]
MC: Speaking of flea market....
MC: Victor, do you have anything you’d like to trade?
Victor: If I must say, there are a few flower vases that I think could be offered.
Victor: There are also one or two pendulum ornaments that could indeed be put on the market.
MC: Things of that grade should be considered for an auction, right?!
[TASK]
MC: There are so many stalls selling snacks, Chinese crepes, grilled naengmyeon, hand pies, and there are barbecue stalls....
[Trivia]: “Naengmyeon” is a Korean noodle dish of long and thin handmade noodles made from the flour and starch of various ingredients. :>
Fitness instructor: It’s awful. High carbohydrate, high fat.... this place is simply a disaster for gym goers!
Tumblr media
MC: While this is true, happiness and fat loss often cannot coexist....
Tumblr media
Victor: Clearly, for a certain person, most of the time, being happy is more important.
┈┈ ◍♡◍ ┈┈┈ ◍♡◍ ┈┈
✧ [Location 3: Souvenir] ✧
Tumblr media
An extraordinarily special, 5-star restaurant with supremely delicious foods, but it only serves those it’s willing to serve. However, rumors have it that the CEO of LFG seems to be a frequent visitor here.
[Task Management Tips]: The diners who come to Souvenir must be extremely picky. Ask a few diners passing by about their preferences, who are leaving disappointed because the restaurant isn’t open for business.
[IDLE CHAT]
MC: I always feel that if we don’t come here, a walking tour of Loveland City with you won’t be complete.
Victor: Do you consider this place to be your private kitchen?
MC: Yup. The restaurant manager spoils me. Does CEO Victor have anything he wants to say on this?
Victor: Nope.
Victor: But the restaurant manager has asked me to tell you that a certain someone had too many snacks today, so there will be one less dessert in the evening.
[TASK]
Diner: As winter arrives, and everyone starts to work out to keep fit, it’s a must to provide meals a bit rich in proteins and fibers.
MC: Every time my work out plan has been left unfinished was because I was incapable of eating just light meals for a long period of time....
Victor: Insufficient control, and lack of supervision.
Tumblr media
MC: No, it’s because your cooking is too appetizing.
Tumblr media
Victor: I may consider introducing a set of fitness meals. As for the result, I should let a certain dummy do the test.
✧ [Mini Story] ✧
Tumblr media
The wind chimes at the entrance ring out as Victor and I return to the all-too-familiar Souvenir.
MC: Why did you suddenly have to make a trip back here?
Tumblr media
Victor: There’s a delivery that has just arrived. So, I had to come over and repackage it, to keep a part of it here and to bring the other part back home.
MC: It’s a very expensive ingredient?
Victor: It’s not an ingredient, and it’s not worth any money. It’s some sauce my aunt has sent me.
Tumblr media
MC: Ahh~ so it actually turns out to be a secret recipe from the ancestral kitchen!
Tumblr media
My teasing causes the corners of Victor’s lips to lift upwards, and he opens the kitchen door.
Tumblr media
Victor: I wouldn’t say that it’s a secret recipe, but it is indeed the taste of the Li family.
[Note: Victor uses his family title here, i.e. “Li” as his name in Chinese is “(Li)Zeyan.” I just decided to keep it as it was cause.... the feels LOL 💒]
Putting the package on the table, he opens it, and takes out the glass jars and bottles inside.
MC: Ahh there’s so many.... sticky chili bean sauce, chili sauce.... and this is.... mushroom?
Victor: Mmm. I tried the mushroom sauce with the pan-fried baby lamb chops last month.
Tumblr media
MC: I remember that taste, it was particularly delicious with the freshly roasted lamb!
As I watch Victor scooping the plump mushrooms out of the jar, I can’t resist picking up a spoon and taking a bite either.
Tumblr media
MC: Mmmmm—— it’s so delicious to eat directly too!
Victor looks at me wearing the gluttonous look on my face, and shakes his head with a smile.
Tumblr media
Victor: Dummy.
He then takes a out a few smaller glass jars out of the cupboard, and divides the sauces up.
Victor: Keep these for you at home, and refrigerate them. In the days when you’re usually working overtime and don’t have the time to eat, you can use it to make a bowl of noodles.
Victor: Lest a certain someone doesn’t always take good care of herself.
┈┈ ◍♡◍ ┈┈┈ ◍♡◍ ┈┈
✧ [Location 4: Floral Avenue] ✧
Tumblr media
Situated in the heart of Loveland City, Floral Avenue isn’t just a place where young people gather. More importantly, it’s a multicultural location for the entire city where creativity is born.
[Task Management Tips]: Also known as the Food Avenue of Loveland, this place has many snacks bars, internet café, chain restaurants. Find inspiration from here.
[IDLE CHAT]
MC: I’ve always felt that this place counts as one of the most romantic streets in Loveland City.
Victor: Because there are many flower shops?
MC: And also because you can often observe some sweet romance.
Victor: Do you like rose or camellia?
Victor: I can also ask the shop assistant to pair them up and bind them into a bouquet.
[TASK]
MC: Hello, we are here to do a survey on the diners’ preferences of gourmet dishes. Do you usually like to come to Meetery Eatery restaurant?
Pedestrian: This is the restaurant I go to most often. Their meat dishes can be rated as the most superb of Loveland City. Whenever I go there, I just want to eat meat and nothing else.
Tumblr media
MC: The baby lamb chops at Meetery Eatery are indeed very delicious. In my heart, they can at least be ranked as second in line.
Victor: A certain person’s “second in heart” is always changing.
Tumblr media
Victor: However, the “first” remains constant.
✧ [Mini Story] ✧
Tumblr media
As Victor and I are wandering around in Floral Avenue, a staff member approaches us.
Staff member: Hello. We are holding a “Love Around The City” special challenge for couples here. The rewards are generous. Are you guys interested in participating?
MC: What type of challenge is it?
Staff member: It’s a challenge of testing the degree of tacit understanding of each other by blindfolding one of the players, and doing a few simple questions and answers of consonance.
MC: Sounds really interesting.... Victor, shall we give it a try too?
MC: But which one of us should be blindfolded....
Tumblr media
Victor: I’ll do it. It’d be comparatively easy to guess things about a dummy.
Tumblr media
MC: Hmph~  in a while, “a certain someone” will be in great trouble if he can’t guess correctly.
Tumblr media
Victor and I are led into a small room. After he is blindfolded, the host asks Victor the first question.
Staff member: Can you tell me, is your girlfriend wearing red or white earrings today?
Tumblr media
Victor: She isn’t wearing earrings today.
As soon as the words are out of his mouth, Victor gives his answer.
Staff member: Wow! This gentleman is amazing, many couples have fallen on the first question before. Then the next question....
Followed by several questions in a row, Victor passes the test smoothly, until the last one——
Staff member: The last question, this doesn’t count in the score. You guys have already obtained the highest reward. But please answer it anyway.
Staff member: Guess what your girl is thinking right now.
Victor turns his head sideways, followed by the corners of his lips raising slightly.
Tumblr media
Victor: I’ll abstain on this question.
Victor: Because no matter what I answer, a certain someone will refuse to admit it. I don’t want to give her an opportunity to call me a “dummy”.
Tumblr media
MC: ....Victor, are you a mind-reader.
┈┈ ◍♡◍ ┈┈┈ ◍♡◍ ┈┈
✧ [Location 5: Movie Theater] ✧
Tumblr media
This is the theater with the most number of new movies. At the same time, it’s also the place to watch old movies. If you’re feeling nostalgic, why not come here and try your luck?
[Task Management Tips]: At the ending of a movie, the fans are heading towards restaurants with their empty stomachs.
[IDLE CHAT]
MC: I didn’t expect that there were still movie theaters like this now.
Victor: Many of the movies have been preserved in good condition as well.
MC: So to speak, have we not seen the movie together very conscientiously yet?
Victor: That time when I fell asleep was an accident.
Victor: But it’s also true that I’m rarely that relaxed in front of people.
[TASK]
MC: Hello, we are doing a food survey. Can you tell us what would you like to eat next?
Pedestrian: I’ve just watched the movie of Huang XiaoRen. I’m a bit tempted to have “love bean” feast, but I’m a little afraid that I won’t get enough of just soy products....
MC: Eh there are many delicious soy products too, such as pea cake, crispy tofu, rice with crabmeat and tofu, soybean and pork ribs soup....
Tumblr media
Victor: Rather, that’s quite a table full of dishes.
Tumblr media
MC: When you think about it like that, soy products seem to be quite filling.
Tumblr media
Victor: Indeed. A certain person was rubbing her stomach and couldn’t stand up after eating a box of pea cakes the last time.
┈┈ ◍♡◍ ┈┈┈ ◍♡◍ ┈┈
✧ [Epilogue] ✧
Tumblr media
Waiter: Sorry, the business is so good today. All our desserts have already been sold out.
MC: Everything is sold out?
Waiter: Hmm.
Tumblr media
MC: I see....
I don’t know if it’s because of Victor that I’ve grown more and more fussy with my preferences in food, but now if there’s no dessert, I always feel that there’s something missing from that meal.
But since they are completely sold out already, I can only regret paying the bill.
Getting out of the restaurant, as I’m just about to ask Victor where we are going next, he pulls me straight to a dessert shop not far away.
Tumblr media
Victor: What do you want to eat?
MC: Eh?
Victor: It was hard not to notice a certain someone’s pouting face like that when she learned that there was no dessert.
He has seen through my little emotion at a glance. Having no other better option, I stick out my tongue at him, and look at the menu.
MC: Hey this place also sells hazelnut flavored soufflé! And it’s a signature!
Tumblr media
Victor: Haven’t you had enough in Souvenir?
Tumblr media
MC: Of course I haven’t had enough. Moreover, this is a rare opportunity to try just how different it is from the one you make!
The freshly baked soufflé is soon served to our table. I solemnly scoop a mouthful, and taste it carefully.
MC: Umm, it seems a bit too sweet.... and the cream is not rich enough either....
MC: Victor, as expected, the one you make is more delicious!
Tumblr media
Victor: After all, a certain someone came to me with a recipe at the time, and volunteered to be the taste tester. Seven or eight soufflés went down, yet it was difficult to finally achieve the flavor to your liking.
MC: Is my taste not good? It’s now Souvenir’s silver medal dessert though!
Victor: Which one is the gold medal?
Tumblr media
MC: Caramel pudding, of course~

For all!
🎂 When is your muse’s birthday? How do they celebrate it?
🎁 What kind of gifts does my muse buy for other people? Are they practical, expensive, inconsiderate, jokey, etc?
For... ALL of them...?
Tumblr media
Zexx Candell - ( @zexxcandell ) Midsummer; used to be a drink or 12, now mostly forgets it
Eldridge Candell - (@eldridgecandell ) Early spring; doesn't celebrate Cheryl Duun - Late Fall; buys herself a fish pie, a bottle of whiskey, and a pack of licorice Josiah Nubern - Early Winter; meets up with his brother, share a meal and a few drinks Rachel Dewitt - Late Fall; finds some drinks, a partner, and enjoys a long, loud night
Oplisca Du'mere (@opliscadumere) - Late Summer; doesn't celebrate
Xaya Candell - (@gatesofthetroupe) - Midsummer; a few trinkets from her siblings, dinner usually cooked by her uncle (lamb), kite rides Gendry Candell - Late Fall; new pens and paper, dinner cooked by his uncle (meatballs and noodles), trip to town for shopping and company Rey Candell - Early Spring; anything from trinkets to junk, dinner cooked by her uncle (dumplings), trip to the beach Gwynn Candell - Late Fall; books, dinner out on the town with her parents (Blue Recluse), walk through the park and a play Beldwin Storm - Midwinter; new boots or article of clothing, homecooked meal, a trip to Sentinel Hill and the market
Whew...that's just some of them (or majors at the moment). There's others and antagonists, dead people, npcs, kind of npcs, retirees, et etc etc...THERE's TOO MANY!
But it's a start.
As for gift giving? Most of them are not very well to due, so I figure mostly they give inexpensive gifts like handmade items, cooked meals, and good company. Ganus might go for a bit higher items but he's a clerk with a steady paycheck and disposable income.
Looking at this list as well, I need to go try out some team red (Horde) a bit more.

You struggle in the arms of your captors as they forcefully move you over to the chair sat in front of the dingy looking sink. You whimper softly as you try to struggle against their hold again. They harshly move you to sit in the chair and you feel your panic start to overcome you. You’re struggling harder now as they try to man handle you into the position they need you in.
Mocking laughter is now filling your ears and you watch as Alexi steps from the shadows but he’s not alone this time no this time he’s accompanied by Ginger who smirks evilly at you. You’re gasping softly in shock at Ginger as she glares at you with a cold accusing look.
“Hold her tighter. We don’t want her to get away.” Ginger says coldly and you shiver before you double your efforts to try and get away. One of your captors places a hand on your forehead and presses it back so that the back of your neck rests against the back of the chair.
“No please. Don’t.” you whimper out as you see one of them grab a cloth out of the corner of your eye. “No please.”
“Hold her tightly.” Comes Ginger’s command and you’re whimpering continuously now. The cloth comes over your whole face and you’re plunged into darkness. When the water is poured over you, you begin to choke and shake your head trying to get away. You can feel yourself choking trying to find an escape.
Your scream is piercing the air and you’re jolting up in bed gasping for air. Your eyes fly around the dark room in panic and suddenly you feel a soft hand on your shoulder and you instantly go into survival mode jerking away from them and throwing your hands up. Pain flourishes in your knee and you’re moaning in pain while your hands flutter to your knee.
“Easy darlin’. Easy it’s just me.” Jack says softly and hurriedly as he tries to keep his distance to not further agitate you. “I’m sorry I wasn’t thinking. I shouldn’t have touched you.” He says softly. You turn to look at him and see his concerned eyes raking over you. Tears are welling up in your eyes out of frustration and you begin to shake your head. It’s been almost a month now since your capture by the Russians and you’re still having horribly vivid nightmares. Quite frankly you’re frustrated with how slow you’re getting through it. Logically you know it’s going to take you some time to get through this but with how slow you’re going you’re wondering if you ever will get through it.
“I’m sorry.” You sob softly shaking your head as a hand comes up to cover your mouth as you sob. Jack shakes his head at you trying to reassure you without touching. You turn to him and launch yourself into his bare chest. His arms quickly come around you and hold you close as you sob. “I’m so sorry for waking you. I know you’ve been working late. I’m just so sorry.” You gasp out softly and Jack’s hands come to cup your face.
“No, no darlin’. There’s no reason for you to be sorry. I wanna be here for you when you have a nightmare.” He says so softly to you as the two of you stare into each other’s eyes. “I’m here. I will always be here for you. Don’t you ever forget that.” He says adamantly as he stares into your eyes. You feel like you’re drowning again but this is different. This is something you want to drown in. His love and concern is swimming in his eyes as he stares at you. “You were tortured for two weeks darlin’. Cut off from everything and everyone. They hurt you so much more than surface value.” He whispers to you as he rests his forehead against yours. “It’s gonna take some time darlin’.”
“I know. I know that I do. I just feel helpless.” You say sorrowfully and grimace when your right knee twinges in pain. Jack nods his head as he moves over the bed to sit on your right side and moves his hands to your knee. He begins to massage the muscles above and below your knee where the large ugly jagged scar is still healing.
“That’s normal. Remember your therapist said that there’s gonna be highs and lows. You just gotta tell me about the lows so I can help you through them.” He said softly as he continues to massage your muscles. “I love you and I’m here for you no matter what.”
“I love you too Jack.” You whisper to him.
“C’mon darlin’ you wanna try going back to sleep?” he asks softly and you nod your head at him. He moves over you and pauses as he hovers over you pressing a soft kiss to your lips before moving to his side of the bed. You shift and curl into his side as much as your knee will allow and quickly fall into a dreamless asleep.
The soft thump that sounds off as you walk makes you grimace lightly. The handmade cane that Jack had specially made for you has been your steady companion ever since your knee surgery two months ago. It was pretty dark wood cane that had celtic knots painted up and down the whole cane; Jack had said that when he saw the design it had reminded him of you because of your heritage and you growing up in Boston. You were actually quite proud of yourself for becoming so adept in using the cane. And you had slowly come to terms of having to use it. And it had become useful in more ways than just walking; it was actually a great tool to reach things high up on the shelves in Jack’s ranch.
That was another thing that had changed for you; Jack had moved you completely into his ranch once you had been discharged from the hospital. You had been a little shocked by his move but when he had explained his reasoning you had agreed to it. Jack had requested to be stationed in Kentucky for the entirety of your recovery so that he could be here to help you through it. Moving you into his ranch had only seemed logical to him since it’d be easier for you maneuver in the large open ranch instead of in your small apartment plus if Jack was going to be here for your recovery he wanted the two of you to be comfortable.
Moving into the kitchen you began to gather all the ingredients you had planned on making for dinner for you and Jack. He had called a little earlier to let you know that he’d be home within the hour and that he couldn’t wait to come home to you. He had also hinted that he had some news that he needed to talk to you about. When he had mentioned that he had news you had picked up on his annoyance and you had grown anxious over whatever it could be.
It wasn’t long before you were putting together two plates of delicious smelling turkey meatballs and noodles. You heard the screen opening and closing from the front of the house and smiled softly.
“It smells delicious in here.” Jack said warmly as he appeared in the doorway of the kitchen.
“I hope so I made turkey meatballs and noodles.” You said chuckling softly at him. He grinned at you as he moved into the kitchen and crowded you against the counter.
“I missed you today.” He said softly as he cupped your face and kissed you deeply. You returned the kiss eagerly as your arms wrapped around his neck pulling him closer. You shifted on your feet and jerked back hissing in pain as your knee protested. “Are you alright?” Jack asked softly with concern.
“Yeah I just moved wrong.” You said sourly knowing that you had just interrupted the mood. Jack shook his head already reading your mood souring as he tilted your head up to look at him.
“I have a solution for that.” He said easily. You looked at him curiously before he swept you up and onto the counter. He quickly stepped into between your knees and his hands gripped your hips before tugging you closer to him. “How’s that?” he asks lowly against your lips and you smile widely at him.
“So much better.” You answer before his lips overtake yours in a deep loving kiss. Your hands are tangling in his hair and Jack is groaning into your mouth before he’s pulling away. Your keening for him to come back and he quickly pecks your lips.
“None of that darlin’. Can’t get too carried away yet. You’re still healing.” He says affectionately and you pout at him making him chuckle softly. He moves back and kisses you breathless before pulling away again. “Better?” he asks softly once he’s pulled away.
“More.” You gasp out and he shakes his head.
“I want to but I don’t want you to relapse in your recovery or reinjure yourself.” He admits softly and you concede defeat knowing he was right and you shouldn’t push for more. “C’mon let’s eat, I’m starving.” He said softly and pecked your lips one last time before he helped you down from the counter. He quickly took the two plates from the counter and began walking them to the dining room table while you followed him with your cane.
Dinner was an easy affair between you and Jack. The two of you easily falling into comfortable conversation while the two of you ate. You talked about work and what shenanigans Tequila was getting up to lately before Jack brought up the news he needed to talk to you about.
“So Champ has mentioned that I see you’re feeling about returning to light duty in the lab for a few weeks.” Jack said softly as he set his fork down on his plate. He looked at you with a curious look and you felt your whole body tense up instantly. “He wanted to get a feel for how you were feeling on that topic.” Jack explained.
“I’d be in the lab with Ginger.” You stated softly and Jack nodded his head furrowing his eyebrows. You felt your body tense even further at the mention of former field agent.
“Yes she’s been demoted back to the head of the lab.” Jack said softly watching you carefully. You were silent for a while as images of Ginger turning her back on you that night you were captured. You hadn’t noticed but your hands clenched into tight fists to the point that Jack laid his own hand over yours to try and ease you.
“Darlin’?” he asked softly. You looked up at Jack and saw him slowly unclench your fist as he stared at you.
“Sorry. I just can’t get the image of her leaving me there outta my head.” You said softly as you shook out your hands.
“Why don’t you tell me about it maybe it’ll help you?” Jack suggested softly.
“I had overtaken the three Russians. One of the lackeys was first he was easy against my brass knuckles. Then came Alexi he was the biggest one out of the three, the one that Tequila shot when you guys rescued me and Comm10. Once Alexi was down I went to Ginger and subdued the last Russian. As we were walking out of the alley to the parking lot Alexi grabbed me from behind. I silently was pleading with Ginger to not leave me but-“ you explained softly allowing yourself to go back to that memory. “It was like something shifted in her eyes and I knew that she was going to leave me to him. She didn’t care at all about his possibly killing me. She just left.” You could feel yourself getting worked up and began to take deep breaths your nose and letting them out through your mouth slowly.
Jack waited patiently for you to calm yourself down. He watched you with patient loving eyes as you slowly breathed in and out trying to slowly calm down the feeling of choking from your throat.
“Jack, I don’t think I could ever work with her again. I would constantly be afraid that she wouldn’t have my back for anything. It wouldn’t be a good working environment.” You said truthfully when you had calmed down.
“Ok, fair enough. I wouldn’t want you in a place that constantly worked against all the progress you’ve made so far either. I think that’s a fair assessment.” He said honestly and nodded his head. “Alright I’ll let Champ know.” You twisted your fingers together in your lap before looking over to him.
“Actually I’d like to talk to Champ about my options. I want to know what’s going to happen to my career if I can’t work alongside Ginger ever again.” You said assuredly and watched as Jack’s shone with pride.
“I love you, you know that right? I can’t tell you how proud of you I am right now.” He said proudly as he leaned over the table and kissed you deeply.
“I know. But can you come with me? I’d feel more at ease if you were there.” You said candidly and Jack eagerly nodded his head at you.
“Of course darlin’. Of course I won’t leave your side unless you want me to.” He said smiling softly and wiggling his eyebrows at you. You laughed delightedly at him and shook your head at his teasing joke.
The next morning you and Jack both got up together and dressed for work. You were adamant in dressing in work attire to have this meeting with Champ. You wanted to look professional during this meeting and it gave you a sense normalcy in this time of recovery and uncertainty.
When you walked down the halls of the Statesman HQ everyone greeted with a warm welcome and bright smiles. They were all happy to see you again and eagerly said they’d love to catch up when you had free time. When Tequila saw you and Jack in the hall he instantly stopped what he was doing and carefully pulled you into a tight hug being mindful of your knee.
“I missed you.” He said warmly as he gently set you back on your feet. You smiled affectionately up at him.
“I missed you too. You should stop by Whiskey’s ranch more when you get the time I’d love the company.” You told him earnestly and Jack groaned softly making the two of you laugh.
“I’m pretty sure if I did Whiskey here would have a coronary.” Tequila said warmly as he grinned over at the older agent.
“He’s already everywhere darlin’ does he really need to come back to the ranch?” Jack asked softly and Tequila burst out laughing.
“I’ll make time to come and pick you up to hang out together how’s that sound?” Tequila compromised and you nodded your head eagerly. You hugged each other one more time before Jack led you to Champ’s office.
“Curaçao! It’s good to see you up and about girl.” Champ said warmly as you and Jack entered the conference room.
“It’s good to see you too Champ.” You said easily as he embraced you in a warm hug. “I hope it’s alright that I wanted to come and speak with you.”
“Of course it is. I’m always up for a visit with you. Now you’re boyfriend not so much.” He teased and you laughed softly as Jack huffed behind you. “Come and sit, we’ll talk about what’s going on with your recovery and everything.” You moved to the table and Jack pulled out your chair for you and smiled over at him thankfully as he helped you get settled before he took a seat next to you. “So tell me how is your recovery going?”
“The doctor says within the next two weeks I should be good for light duty as long as I keep up with physical therapy.” You answered easily.
“Good that’s wonderful news. How are you feelings with your therapist?” Champ asked then and you nodded your head easily.
“I still have some concerns that my therapist and I are working through but they wouldn’t impact my ability to do my job.” You answered matter-of-factly and Champ nodded his head.
“What you went through was a horrible situation and I want you to make sure that you take care of your mental health as much as your physical health.” Champ said firmly and you nodded your head in agreement.
“Don’t worry I am. I’ve had experience with therapy so I know the benefits to it.” You assured him easily.
“Good, that’s good. Now did Whiskey talk to you about coming back to the lab on light duty?” Champ asked softly and you nodded your head. You looked down into your lap where your fingers were twisting furiously together. You could feel your anxiety creeping up and you took in a breath to calm yourself.
“I don’t think I could ever trust Ginger again Champ. It would impede my ability to work if she was around me. And I know that this throws a wrench into things but I can’t put myself in a place where I can’t trust someone again.” You explained firmly as you looked at Champ. He nodded his head and mused over your answer for a minute while he scratched his chin.
“Alright.” He said solemnly as he thought. “I don’t want to lose you as a Statesman, you’ve proven to be an excellent agent and an even greater lab technician.” He explained as he stood from his seat and moved to his computer at his desk. He typed on it and looked over the screen before nodding his head. “Now, I’d hate to lose you here in Kentucky but what would you say if there was an open spot in the New York office for a head lab technician?” he asked. Your head shot up to look at him in confusion.
“Really? I’d ask to be transferred immediately.” You said truthfully and could feel Jack leaning closer to you in anticipation.
“Then consider it done.” Champ said with a flourish as he pressed a few keys on his keyboard. “I’ve put in a transfer for you for the position effective next month. I do hate seeing you go but I wouldn’t feel right putting you in a position where you couldn’t work effectively or healthily.”
You stood from your chair and walked over to Champ with your cane and hugged him tightly as you felt relief just take over your body. Champ hugged you back and laughed softly.
“Now don’t go and make an old man cry girl.” He said softly and you chuckled warmly at him.
“Thank you Champ. I appreciate this so much.” You said nodding your head.
“Just make sure you keep this fella in line alright? We’re gonna miss having the two of you here as much.” Champ said as he nodded over to Jack who had stood as well and moved closer to you.
“Will do Champ.” You said happily before he nodded dismissing you and Jack. You walked out with Jack and he grinned over at you as you smiled widely at the news that you wouldn’t have to give up Statesman. “This is exciting Jack! Now we get to stay together in one state and won’t have to be separate.” You said breathlessly as the many options ran through your head.
“Breathe darlin’.” Jack said softly as he quickly led you into his office where he pressed you softly against his door and kissed you deeply. When he pulled away you both were panting out breaths.
“Some way to get me to breathe.” You teased and Jack laughed loudly. He kissed you again and you clutched onto his shoulders trying to get as close to him as possible.
“I can’t wait to have you with me in New York.” He whispered against your lips and you smiled widely up at him.
“Me neither.” You said softly and he kissed you once again.

This newish Taiwanese dumpling, noodle, and tea shop opened earlier this year in a Chinese strip mall. I don’t get the name but they’re going for an irreverent, urban feel. The menu includes rice bowls, dumplings, wontons, red-braised meats, noodles (some handmade, some not), beverages and desserts. Some dishes have interesting names like LIT Noodle, Burn in Hell wonton and Numb Me Bitch wonton. The problem is that the dishes are not described and the staff speaks limited English. For example, there are 4 types of dan dan noodle, #1-#4, but they don’t say how the four versions are different. You can order online or text to order, but the menu still isn’t descriptive.
Pork ribs dry sauced noodle ($10.99): The portion was satisfying but not huge. By pork ribs, they mean tiny, bony spareribs like the kind you’d get at a dim sum restaurant. They were tender and infused with soy sauce flavor. Very homey – reminded me of something my mum would make. Watch out for the bones. The noodles (not handmade) were round, medium thickness and soft, with a slight chewiness. They absorbed the spicy sauce which was tangy (vinegar?), sweet and medium spicy (even though it looked like they used quite a few dry chili peppers). There was one piece of bok choy and some green onions. Everything was delicious – would have liked chewier noodles and ribs that weren’t super bony though.
XL bao ($2.45): Not a dumpling (not XLB) but a steamed white bun with a loose ground pork and veggie filling. I would have preferred a juicy pork meatball inside vs. loose, salty ground pork. The bao part was oversteamed and not silky and soft like a better bao. I wouldn’t get this again.
Since indoor dining isn’t permitted, they set up an outdoor dining area in the parking lot with 6 tables. The table with the menus had many bottles of hand sanitizer. They had a room with windows inside where you could see people making dumplings and baos by hand.

Anybody can take this. Can I have Teruteru with a reader who has a mother who passed away, and Teruteru doesn't know until one day he cooks for them and they cry because it reminds them of their mom's cooking?
This is my first time writing for Teruteru, and I wanted to show a more caring side to him as is the token pervert of D2. I hope it’s good enough for you Anon….~Mobile Mod Nagito~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The Holly Jolly Chef Finds Learns About Your Family
You fell asleep at your desk, and Teruteru decided to be a good guy for once. He mustered up as much strength as possible and moved you to your bed. He notices an open book on the desk that he didn’t recognize. As he picked it up, he inspected the cover to see a single word stamped on the front: Diary.
He froze for a moment, realizing realizing that he was invading your privacy. He didn’t want to know something that’d hurt him, but there was something that sort of perplexed the short and chubby chef. You cried while eating your meal, and he wasn’t sure why. So, Teruteru took it upon himself to read the most recent entry, the one from that night.
—————–12/25
Christmas Eve dinner, the first one since Mom passed……
Teruteru insisted on making dinner for me and Dad, he wouldn’t take no for an answer. That chubby little chef has really grown on me. He made so many little things throughout the day. Like hand made sausage, pineapple teriyaki meatballs, all sorts of delicious little things…
Soon enough he was hard at work with dinner. He wouldn’t let anyone in the kitchen. “Can’t ruin the magic” he said. I could smell something coming from the kitchen, something that took me back to a moment from my childhood. 5 years old in the kitchen. Mom at the stove over a steaming pot. She takes a spoon and puts it past the edge of the pot. She pulls it out and gently blows the steam away from it. She bends down to me and says sweetly “Try this boo”
The flavor was something that would stick with me. From the sauce to the short pasta noodles, from the clams to the crab, I could taste it all.
Eating it with the whole family that could make it to our little home for Christmas dinner. Passing out in bed from eating a little too much. And waking up to a small pile of Christmas presents beneath the tree, all for me.
My heart jumped a little at the smell. All I could do was sit in disbelief at what I was smelling. Even Dad noticed. He started to cry a little. Mom had made her cioppino every year at Christmas, stretching back to when she helped Grandma make it from the moment she could say her first word. When he served us, it was like Mom was just hiding in the kitchen, having cooked it all secretly. I didn’t think it would taste just th—
——–The rest of the page was illegible, though Teruteru could recognize why. It looked like the pen ink was washed away and diluted by tears. He didn’t realize how much of what he did really meant to you. Teruteru had found an old, handmade recipe book while looking through the kitchen cupboards to familiarize himself with the workspace. It turns out it was your Mom’s, one that was passed down from your Grandma to her. Recipes upon recipes  filled it, and to Teruteru, they all couldn’t be changed to be better. He signed softly and set the diary down as he found it, and turned to you. He didn’t notice at first, but there was ink staining your cheek. Teruteru took that moment to wet a small towel and clean off your cheek while you slept. He was surprised you didn’t wake up, but a little glad too. He’d hate to wake you up at a time like this, on Christmas Eve.

“Her Kiao”, or Teochew fish dumpling, usually plays a supporting role in a bowl of fishball noodles. At Lucky Her Kiao, these plump ingots of joy take centre stage with a variety of fillings (scallop, squid, salmon) apart from the traditional pork. I travelled all the way to the Balestier area to pick some up for my upcoming bowl of birthday mee sua 🍜 I was greeted by the chirpy owner James - barefoot and covered from head to toe in flour😁 James comes with solid credentials - his whole family run the branches of Song Kee fishball noodles around Singapore, and James decided to focus on just making her kiao after more than 10 years running his dad’s Toa Payoh stall. I could tell he has a lot of passion (he looked right at home covered in flour lol) and pride in his handmade her kiao, taking effort to explain to me how to store them, where to look for recipes on how to cook them - amidst answering the non-stop calls🤳, handing over deliveries and tallying up my purchases. James’ is the only standalone shop in Singapore selling handmade her kiao, and they really look different from the commercial ones - they look plump and tantalizing, to the point my mum was drooling at the sight of the raw dumplings. Apart from her kiao, James also offers fish noodles, meatballs, crab tau pok, etc. all perfect for the next hotpot dinner, or a bowl of home-cooked noodles. Thankful that we have local food heroes like James keeping our food heritage alive, true artisans in their craft. I am looking forward to eating my Lucky Her Kiao, and hopefully huat too! 🧧 #eatlocal #sgfoodies #sgfoodie #localheroes #handmade #luckyherkiao #teochewfood (at One Dusun Residences) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTOcvrEn0-m/?utm_medium=tumblr

SHANGHAI TASTE SPECIALIZES IN TRADITIONAL SOUP DUMPLINGS
Since opening in January, Shanghai Taste has quickly become one of the most popular spots in Chinatown, with many diners gushing about the eatery’s marquee dish, xiao long bao.To get more news about shanghai Chinese cuisine, you can visit shine news official website. The handmade soup dumplings feature pork meatballs and savory broth ($10) sealed inside delicate dumpling wrappers. (A crab version costs $14.) Some technique is required to eat them. The advice here: Place a single dumpling in a soup spoon, bite a small opening at the top, then slowly slurp up the broth (but be careful—it’s hot!). Then grab the nibbled dumpling with chopsticks and pop it in your mouth. It’s a satisfying bite that you’ll quickly want to replicate. Luckily, each order comes with eight delightful packets, so you’ll get plenty of practice. Located in Shanghai Plaza, Shanghai Taste is the creation of Jimmy Li and Joe Muscaglione, restaurateurs who drew fervent fans at their previous Vegas venture, the now-shuttered Niu-Gu. In their new enterprise, the business partners continue to plate some of the finest Chinese cuisine in town.Sheng jian ($8), the pan-fried version of xiao long bao, available in shrimp, mahi-mahi and veggie styles, is another highlight. Demo windows give guests a look at how the dumplings are assembled, an involved process that displays an impressive level of dexterity. Other Shanghainese specialties include appetizers like scallion pancakes ($4) and stacks of sweet-and-sour pork ribs ($8). (It’s worth noting that the ribs are prepared the traditional Shanghainese way, meaning they’re served at room temperature.) Noodles are a big draw, too, like the spicy Shanghai beef soup with abundant cabbage ($13) and the pan-fried fat noodles ($13), served in mushroom, chicken, pork or beef versions, plus a shrimp upgrade. The delectably lacquered thick strings are enhanced with fragrant Shaoxing wine—a fermented rice beverage—and first-timers expecting overtly umami soy notes might be surprised by the entree’s piquant, vinegar-forward flavor profile.  They’re excellent introductions to Shanghai Taste, where even more wonders—like cold-sliced ox tongue ($8), steamed wheat gluten ($7), braised duck ($13) and sausage-and-greens fried rice ($11)—await.
