MY FAVOURITE EUROVISION ENTRIES: DAY 36 - Norway

Norway is a tough choice for me, because there’s about 5 or 6 songs from the country that I really, really like. So instead I’m going with the song that’s had the most amount of playtime on my Spotify.

I would have gone with KEiiNO’s Monument from last year, but alas it was beaten by TiX in the MGP.

So it’s back to 2011 with Stella Mwangi’s “Haba Haba”. It’s a shame the performance on the night wasn’t the best, which resulted in not qualifying for the finals, because I really love this song.

A very close second for Norway would be their 2020 Entry by Ulrikke. That would’ve been amazing on the main stage, but alas the MGP performance will have to do.

its so weird as an american jew to see so many people saying “no one ever talks about violence against palestinians!1!1!!1!!” when thats literally all american jews see. you shove it in our faces every time we dare to breathe too loudly. you send us photos and videos of mangled bodies. by virtue of existing we must be reminded that a military we do not serve in representing a country we are not citizens of is doing what literally every fucking military force on earth does: terrorizing civilians. you talk about it all the fucking time, just not with people who have the power to do anything about it.

I honestly can't remember if I said anything here about Couple's Goodluck Charm lqg?

When he's a disciple he gets a crush on, like, two of his shixiongs who are pining over each other and ends up having a fling with both of them before they start dating each other. They end up in a committed relationship and lowkey cite dating lqg as their inciting incident.

Later he ends up dating an established couple known from breaking up and getting back together and after they dated him they end up stabilizing and getting married.

They say lqg was their good luck charm and he gets kind of a reputation.

Now anyone who wants good luck in their relationship try to catch lqg's eye bc him being interested in you is seen as a blessing!

When he starts hanging around yqy everyone thinks the Era of good luck Liu Qingge will end bc obviously yqy is a catch and they'll actually end up together but then yqy brings home sj. Everyone can tell yqy is obsessed with sj, so now everyone thinks lqg's good luck extends to finding your soulmate in general even if you aren't currently in a relationship. AND then sj and lqg become RIVALS and the yqy & sj ships crashes and burns so lqg's reputation evolves once more

So it goes: if lqg is interested in you as a couple then you're guaranteed good fortune in your relationship. If you're single then you will have terrible luck.

People are already intimidated by him bc he's gaining such a bold reputation as Bai zhan's succeeding disciple, and now with the Relationship Lore people never approach him interested in Him

He cements a few more relationships throughout his time as a disciple and Peak Lord (probably a few more disciples, Mqf & WQW, maybe, when they become peak lords) and ruins a few others incidentally so his reputation grows into like a folk tale that everyone passes on to each other

So of course lqg's crush is seen as very Ominous and Foreboding for sqq and when lbh pops up everyone is like. Whoop. Lqg Curse strikes again.

Funnily enough, when bingqiu happens and friendly interaction with demons become more common, when lqg's Lore is shared the demons flip the omens. Lqg fighting lbh for five years read as being interested and now lbh is off living his happiest life. Lqg tried removing sqh's head from his shoulders and now mbj has a devoted life partner. Obviously Liu qingge fighting you/being interested in you in the demon way is a blessing of good fortune

Anyways, when lbh hears that dating lqg as a third means your relationship will last forever, OF COURSE he tries to get that extra bit of assurance :>

(I think... moshang also want a piece of lqg's relationship luck. It becomes bingqiu and moshang competing over Liu Qingge)

#misc #it's actuallynreally angsty though bc #hah no one actually wants a committed relationship with lqg #he's honestly tried to make it Work with everyone he's dated #but increasingly people are just phoning it in with him #after getting wqw & mqf together he stops dating #lowkey bc seeing two people he liked move on together without him #hes kind of over trying haha #his crush on sqq is also probably so slow and awkward bc he is Aware of his badluck reputation #and doesnt want to lose sqq as a friend after trying and failing to date him :>#so bingqiu and moshang flirting with him #increasingly seemingly earnestly kind of charms him #(bc theyre competing they get really into courting him #so it comes off pretty genuine to lqg)#so even if bingqiu or moshang develop honest feelings for him #it will come out that they were trying to cash in on the lqg goodluck which wont be fun for anyone but me! :)#i guess... interspersed with this are demons whonwant to fight lqg but thats normal haba

I've been getting into print making and lino block printing lately. Last time I attempted something like that was high school and the materials were extremely well used so it didn't give me the results I wanted. Doing it again as an adult using new equipment (even basic stuff) is so much easier and much more fun. Obviously I'm still learning exactly how to load up my brayer / how much ink for a good print, and I don't have a pressing machine so I'm pressing these by hand (using an old David's Tea tin as a rolling pin lol).

This is my interpretation of the Kazuo Haba surrealist painting from the 70s. I can't find a title for this painting for the life of me, but it's incredibly gorgeous and iconic:
