If you're looking for the ultimate guncannon kit to get, the Cucuruz Doan's Island version is probably the way to go! A really fun build with some impressive articulation and an extra backpack accessory in the form of a missile launcher alternative to the classic cannons! I'm super happy with how this one turned out and it makes me even more excited to get more origin kits!
I'm a slut for shoulder-mounted weapons on mechs so I already had the hots for something like this, but the absolutely timeless and classic design of the original gundam trio really adds to it, and this kit keeps that same charm while also adding some much needed and appreciated details!
And of course, the extra detailing on the kit also includes some really nice panel lining opportunities that really make the kit pop! With how prominent the red colour is on this thing it really benefits from the darker shades to add detail and make it look more defined. Here's a before and after!

HG 1/144 E.F.S.F RX-77-02 Mid-Range Support Mobile Suit “Guncannon” Unit 104 (Cucuruz Doan's Island Ver.)
Been sitting on this kit for quite some time! While some older High Grade kits feel very much like starter kits, and often have rather flat or minimal detail, this kit from 2023 is almost as detailed as a RG kit (and at half the price!).
One detail I really like about this kit is the functional pistons under the cannons, which can expand and contract as you move cannons up and down. This gimmick makes the kit feel really premium, and is a cool detail considering older HG might've just had static molded parts. 2023's line-up indicates a very promising future for HG kits.
The Cucuruz Doan's Island version of the Guncannon is quite similar to the The Origin version, but has some neat extras including a full set of pre-posed hands (WFM collectors will know the frustration of HG kits missing the open hand pose) as well as an optional extra missile-pod backpack (for the Unit 109 alt. build, although I'm not removing my 104 sticker just to change the backpack).
The poseability of the kit is really impressive, and it's a very solid kit with appropriately stiff joints despite the reliance on polycaps (which is surprising for a 2023 kit!). It holds poses very well and the colour separation is super impressive.
Definitely something worth adding to your collection both in terms of build enjoyability and final look!

Battletech Duel
So my friend and I had our duel where we revealed our mystery mechs, I got this wonderful Starscream themed Battlemaster while I gave to them a Guncannon themed Atlas. (It was somewhat appropiate we had this duel around Halloween). We managed to perfectly draw, our shooting taking each other out at exactly the same turn. I am definitely going to try the more advance version of the rules soon, especially the Melee rules.

Built the Cucuruz Doan’s Island version of the Guncannon! This was fun, and the movie was honestly a blast for me. Super fun build and the backpack options are really nice. Don’t have any panel liners for myself yet, so none of that, and I decided to keep the sticker decals to a minimum.
Of the four Gundam movies I’ve seen, those being Char’s Counterattack, Narrative, Cucuruz Doan’s Island, and Endless Waltz, I’d probably put it at a second favorite. Just felt nice going back to the White Base crew with a simpler story after watching so much more of what UC had to offer.
I suppose just for context the other rankings would be Narrative in last (It’s not a bad movie, it is actually good, it’s just super self contained and easy to look over in the grand scheme of things), next would be Char’s Counterattack (A movie of high highs and low lows honestly. Quess and Hathaway just didn’t feel as well utilized as they should have been and that could make things frustrating), then Cucuruz Doan’s Island (I already said), and then Gundam Wing Endless Waltz (Said in another post, but it just felt like Wing’s best qualities on full blast the entire time.)
