Sis dropped by Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”) at Northpoint City to pack home lunches for us. As per the usual, mum went for the Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面) while I took the Shrimp & Kimchi Fried Rice (虾仁泡菜炒饭). The fried rice might look very spicy to you due to the orangey colour but trust me, it is not. Overall, it is only mildly spicy with a sweetish note coupled fresh crunchy prawns and an over easy egg.

Took a bus to Northpoint City in Yishun to do some grocery shopping and to have dinner. Restricted by mum’s limited selection of choices, we went back to Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”). She almost always falls back on her Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面) as she is not keen to try new foods. A big slab of pan-fried, boneless pork chop sits on top of handmade wavy noodles and pickled cucumber slices in a large blue & white porcelain bowl. If you are in for firm and chewy noodles, do choose this one for a change.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for me, I typically try not to choose the same dish as mum so the camera has more choices. :D So, here is my Shrimp & Kimchi Fried Rice (虾仁泡菜炒饭) topped with an over easy fried egg. Moving the egg aside, the fragrant and tasty fried rice is dotted with six crunchy prawns neatly arranged on the rice. The rice is spicy and sweet with pieces of coarsely chopped up kimchi mixed inside.

Whenever we patronized Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”) in Northpoint City in Yishun, mum number one choice would be her Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面). Well, I ordered something new this time round, a soup-based noodles dish.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My Noodles Soup with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (招牌猪排汤面) at S$11.80+, one dollar cheaper than mum’s. I opted for thin noodles as I preferred its texture over the thicker and broader version. Came with a single carrot flower, snow pea and some scallions floating in the broth over a bundle of thin whitish noodles. The soup is lightly seasoned and the noodles is firm which actually complement the well marinated pork chop.

Packed back dinner from Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”) in Northpoint City. Yeah, the Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面) is for mum while I opted for the Sunrise Pork Chop Rice (日出猪排饭). Because of the orange egg yolk, they called this “Sunrise”. Added just a little of their super-hot chilli paste as it is really burning spicy.

Mum only wants to eat the same tried and tested foods every time we went out but me and my trusty camera like to experience new dishes. We both love Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”) which sells Taiwan-style foods so that is a compromise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, mum went for the same old Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面) at S$12.80+. Between this and the fried rice version, I preferred the latter as I am the “rice bucket” kind of guy. :D The pork chop is flavourful with the ginger seasoning coming through and the meat so tender and juicy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for me, I picked this limited Sunrise Crispy Chicken Cutlet Rice (日出鸡腿排饭). Limited as in they only have a fixed number of this S$13.80+ dish to sell each day. A big piece of boneless chicken leg fried crispy occupied one half of the bowl. The white rice is drizzled with the gravy from their braised pork and topped with an over easy egg. Coupled with two side dishes of pickled cucumbers and vegetables to complete the dish. Just from looking at it already makes your mouth waters.

Opened by the ex-chef of Din Tai Fung, Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”) located in Northpoint City is popular for their pork chop fried rice. Brought mum along for an early dinner and some light shopping. Marked the selections on the order chit and proceed to pay at the cashier. My cup of Brown Sugar Caramel Milk Tea (焦糖奶茶) came first with the caramel sauce dripping on the inside of the cup. Just sweet enough with a hint of burnt sugar and so much cheaper (S$3.40+) than those selling at bubble tea stalls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mum as usual went for the S$12.80+ bowl of Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面). The handmade cuts of noodles is firm for al dente with a sliced-up piece of pan-fried pork chop over it. Over at the side, a few slices of pickled cucumber and spring onions for garnish.
Tumblr media
My S$13.80+ plate of Shrimp & Kimchi Fried Rice (虾仁泡菜炒饭) came with a fried egg over the fried rice. Underneath were 6 to 7 crunchy and succulent shrimps. The fried rice is mildly spicy with sweetness and there are pieces of kimchi in it. Overall a pretty yummy plate of rice if you were to ask.

Sis was out for an appointment and volunteer to buy back lunch. Since she is at Northpoint City, she packed mum’s favourite Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面) while I and my sis had the Fried Rice with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (招牌猪排蛋炒饭).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In case we are still not full, she bought Aburi Salmon Mentai Sushi (S$8.90) and California Maki (S$8.50) from Kuriya Japanese Market which was shared among ourselves.

Made an early trip to Northpoint City for dinner at Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”). This eatery is currently mum’s favourite joint when eating out. She always went for the same Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面) at S$12.20+. The handmade sun-dried flat noodles is firm and a little chewy at the same time which goes well with the succulent pork chop.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Me being more adventurous, I like to try new dishes so I picked this Shrimp & Kimchi Fried Rice (虾仁泡菜炒饭) at S$13+ a plate. It was served with a fried egg atop a mould of fried rice dotted with 5 or 6 large shrimps. The dish is not all together spicy but has some sweetness and tanginess from the fermented cabbages to it and those shrimps are so crunchy fresh to boot.

Sis bought takeaways for us from Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”) at Northpoint City. The restaurant is currently offering a 10% discount for takeaways so you can save some money and at the same time, be safer by eating at home during this pandemic. She bought mum her favourite Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面) while I opted for Fried Rice with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (招牌猪排蛋炒饭).

We patronized Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”) located at Northpoint City again during dinner. Mum stuck to her tried and tested Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面). At S$12.20+, the bowl came with a large piece of pan-fried pork chop that is marinated with ginger juice and other seasonings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The more adventurous me went for the S$13.00+ plate of Shrimp & Kimchi Fried Rice (虾仁泡菜炒饭) since I like to try new stuffs. At first glance, the dish came with 5 good sized prawns, topped with an over easy egg. The fried rice itself was mild spicy with hint of sweetness to it and the prawns were real crunchy and fresh tasting.

Mum is not adventurous in trying out new foods. Every time we are at Northpoint City, she wanted to eat the Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面) at Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”). The S$12.20+ bowl comes with a big slice of fried pork chop, sliced into manageable strips over the noodles and a side of pickled cucumbers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This round I also ordered the S$5+ portion of Salt & Pepper Shrooms (椒盐菌菇). Basically it is stir-fried shimeiji mushrooms in salt and white pepper with chopped garlic on the side.
Tumblr media
I went for their Sunrise Pork Chop Rice (日出猪排饭) at S$12.30+. It comes with the same large piece of pork chop but instead of noodles, mine is white rice drizzled with brown sauce and topped with a sunny side up egg plus two sides of pickled vegetable.

Both mum and I had the same Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面) from Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”). You get 10% discount off the S$12.20 for takeaway. While many businesses suffered during the pandemic, this eatery had expanded to include the opposite unit to cater to more dine-in customers.

Sis went to Northpoint City with her friend and “tabao” (order takeaway) dinner for us. Mum asked for Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面) at S$12.20 from Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”). The flat wavy noodles is topped off with a large piece of succulent pan-fried pork.
Tumblr media
As for me, I chose their S$12.30 signature Fried Rice with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (招牌猪排蛋炒饭). Instead of noodles, mine had fragrant egg fried rice with the same boneless pork chop on top.
