¿Qué pasaría si revivieras una y otra vez el día en el que eres asesinado? Esta premisa, que recuerda mucho a la clásica ‘Atrapado en el tiempo’ de Bill Murray, era la que proponía el director Christopher Landon para su última película: ‘Feliz Día De Tu Muerte’. Aunque sus películas para adolescentes como ‘Viral’ o ‘Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse’ no dejaban mucho que desear, la utilización del recurso de la continua repetición me llevó a darle una oportunidad.

El film se centra en Tree Gelbman (Jessica Rothe) la típica abeja reina del campus por la que la mayoría siente cierto rencor. Esta debe revivir el día de su asesinato en bucle (que precisamente coincide con el día de su cumpleaños) hasta que consiga hallar la identidad de su asesino. En esta odisea terrorífica le acompaña Carter (Israel Broussard), otro estudiante en cuya cama se despierta cada mañana.

Si bien es cierto que el ritmo de la película no disminuye a pesar del uso del recurso, también lo es que el reclamo se queda simplemente en eso y acabamos ante una película excesivamente orientada hacia el público adolescente. El típico slasher americano, similar a Scream, pero modernizado. Y como buena película teen cuenta con su historia de amor extremadamente cliché y que se ve venir a kilómetros. Como si enamorarse fuese lo que más importante en medio de tanto intento de horror y muerte sangrienta, ¡vamos!

Si hablamos de cliché no se puede dejar sin mencionar la evolución del personaje de Tree, cuya psicología va cambiando a medida que va reviviendo su muerte. Pasando de ser una mean girl a darse cuenta de las causas de su cuestionable comportamiento y enmendar los errores para no hacer daño injustificado a las personas de su entorno. Una evolución prototipo para personajes de ese estilo que ya se ha visto en numerosas ocasiones en la ficción cinematográfica y televisiva.

Y no solo esto la convierte en un film excesivamente predecible. Lo más decepcionante es que basta con estar un poco atento al desarrollo de la historia desde un primer momento para adivinar con facilidad quien es el culpable de la muerte de Tree. Si algo esperas de un slasher de este tipo es que la revelación del asesino sorprenda y en ‘Feliz Día De Tu Muerte’ este no es el caso.

En definitiva, si te gusta el género del terror cómico esta película es una buena apuesta, pero no esperes un estilo novedoso ni un guión sorprendente. Es decir, puede ser aceptable como entretenimiento de un domingo por la tarde.

Lo mejor: Que todo el elenco sean actores prácticamente desconocidos.

Lo peor: Un trailer que genera muchas expectativas que luego no se cumplen.

Nota: 4/10
