The Serenity of Indoor Water Fountains
The allure of indoor water fountains lies in their ability to create a serene and relaxing atmosphere. The gentle gurgle of water, the play of light on its surface, and the artistic design of the fountain can inspire a sense of calm and tranquility. Here are some of the compelling reasons to consider adding an indoor water fountain to your home:
Stress Reduction: The sound of flowing water has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety. Indoor water fountains provide a soothing environment, making them a perfect addition to any area where relaxation is essential.
Improved Air Quality: Water fountains release negative ions, which can help purify the air in your home. These negative ions can neutralize the positive ions that electronic devices and pollution produce, potentially enhancing indoor air quality.
Aesthetic Appeal: Indoor water fountains come in a variety of designs and materials, making them both functional and aesthetically pleasing. They can be a focal point in your decor, elevating the ambiance of your space.
Humidity Control: Indoor water fountains release moisture into the air, which can help maintain a comfortable level of humidity in your home, particularly in dry climates or during the winter months.
Types of Indoor Water Fountains
Tabletop Fountains: These compact fountains are designed to sit on tables, shelves, or countertops. They are ideal for small spaces and can add a touch of serenity to your workspace or bedroom.
Wall-Mounted Fountains: Wall-mounted fountains are fixtures that can be affixed to a wall. They save floor space and create an elegant, cascading effect.
Floor Fountains: These larger fountains are designed to stand on the floor and often serve as a focal point in a room. They come in various designs, from classic to contemporary.
Outdoor-Inspired Fountains: Some indoor fountains mimic the appearance of outdoor natural water features, such as waterfalls and streams. These fountains bring a touch of the outdoors into your living space.
Custom Fountains: For those with a specific vision or unique space requirements, custom indoor water fountains can be designed to match your style and preferences.
How to Choose the Right Indoor Water Fountain
Selecting the perfect indoor water fountain for your home involves a few considerations:
Location: Determine where you want to place the fountain. This will help you decide on the size and type of fountain that fits your space.
Style: Consider the overall decor of your home. Indoor water fountains come in various styles, including traditional, modern, Zen, and more. Choose one that complements your interior design.
Size: Measure the available space for your fountain and choose a size that fits comfortably. Be sure to factor in any additional space required for water reservoirs and power sources.
Material: Indoor water fountains are available in a range of materials, including stone, glass, ceramic, and metal. Select a material that aligns with your aesthetic preferences and maintenance requirements.
Maintenance: Consider the ease of maintenance. Some fountains may require more upkeep than others, such as regular cleaning or refilling.
Installation and Care
Once you've chosen the ideal indoor water fountain for your space, installation and care are essential for its longevity and effectiveness:
Location: Ensure that the fountain is placed on a level surface to prevent tilting. Position it near an electrical outlet if it requires a pump or lights.
Water Source: Regularly check the water level and add water as needed to maintain the desired water flow.
Cleaning: Clean the fountain components regularly to prevent mineral deposits, algae, and mold growth. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning.
Pump Maintenance: If your fountain has a pump, keep it clean to maintain water circulation. Refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for maintenance.
Indoor water fountains are not merely decorative elements; they are transformative pieces of art that create a serene and peaceful atmosphere within your home. With various types, styles, and sizes to choose from, you can select the perfect fountain to complement your decor and soothe your soul. By incorporating the elegance of indoor water fountains into your living space, you can experience the calming influence of nature's beauty without ever leaving the comfort of your home.

Dying Impulse
---Mrs Webber, a frail yet imposing figure, found solace in the news that she had been given a two-week notice on her life. She sat in her comforting red armchair and gazed out the window onto the frosty German streets which froze her in her idleness. The cold morning was accompanied by a neglected Earl Grey and a Beethoven record whose dust cover made the needle jump, replaying the same parts over and over.
Tumblr media
As her grandfather clock struck eight, a loud thump was heard from the hallway outside the small apartment. In an instant, Mrs Webber bringing her attention to the door, struggled to stand up and moved towards the sound. Her slight limp and asthmatic breath guided her towards the entrance. She stopped and looking at the large reflection of her figure, fixed her burgundy cardigan and opened the door. At her feet, a scatter of letters surrounded an old man wearing a blue postman’s jacket, whose cold dead eyes seemed to melt through the hardwood.
Tumblr media
---The clock struck ten, and Ms Vogel, an exceedingly short ninety-year-old woman hunched over her cane, walked by the salmon walls of the halfway. Wearing a puffed winter jacket, she struggled to hold on to the three shopping bags weighing down by her side. “Ah, Mrs Vogel”. A voice behind her called. Struggling to turn her head, she saw a figure on the other side of the hallway. The body was now gone and all that remained was the large shaddow of Mrs Webber holding a wine bottle in a neatly decorated Christmas bag. “I wanted to thank you for the present you so dearly left at my door”. Mrs Webber exclaimed. “Yes, of course”. She responded in a guttural accent. Mrs Vogel looked down at her bags and back at Mrs Webber. She stood quietly, looking at Mrs Vogel with an expressionless face. “I have a thank you gift in return. I thought you might enjoy it over a nice duck”. Mrs Webber responded, breaking the dense silence. “Oh, how kind of you”. Mrs Vogel answered. As the conversation fell short, only the rustling of clothes, the thuds of two canes and hard breathing were heard as the two women slowly tried to reach each other in the middle of the hallway. As the ladies met, Mrs Webber extended the gift to Mrs Vogel, embracing her from the left side. The ladies exchanged the cordial two kisses on the cheek and as they detached, began informing news of their ailments. “How is your stomach” “As awful as ever. How is your hip?” “Dreadful. How is your cancer?” “Cancerous. How is your husband?” “Still dead I’m afraid.” “Ah yes, of course”. A silence fell upon the two women, and turning away, they slowly moved back towards their doors.
---Mrs Vogel’s apartment was fit for both her stature and character. She sat in a small dining room, at a small table, and the ceiling that only allowed her to stand upright, was overcrowded by a large crystal chandelier. The clock struck twelve and Mrs Vogel with a roasted duck in front of her, enjoyed a nice glass of wine. By her second sip, a cough overcame her pleasure and with an instant rapid motion, dived her head towards the table, lying motionless next to the roasted bird.
Tumblr media
---In the nearing apartment, Mrs Webber sat quietly at her dining table eating microwaved Koettbullar and facing the dead postman who sat on the other side. With his hat blocking his face, the man began to slip out of his chair. His hand resting on the table now held a silver wedding band. Ms Webber, as she cleaned her mouth with a snowman-decorated napkin, moved towards the falling postman and helped him straighten up, fixing his tie and placing his cap firmly on his head.
---As her watch struck three, Ms Webber slowly went down the stairs of her backyard. She removed her walker from the long line of parked Rollators and holding a brown paper bag under her arm, moved past the parking lot and towards the street. Passing a pedestrian crossing,  a white car came from behind, speeding and breaking at the sight of Mrs Webber. The car honked loudly, and the driver screamed. Mrs Webber, unfazed, looked at the car, made a profane gesture and continued moving in the same slow way. She arrived at a large park and stopped at a bench in front of a small river where a group of pigeons were assembled. She took the cane from its holder and forcefully moved towards the bench. As she sat, she tried reaching for her roller but having placed it far from her reach, struggled to grab it with her hands. Finding it hard to scootch down the bench she uses her cane, hitting the roller continuously from its side. After various attempts, she pulled it towards her, making the roller fall over and dropping the brown paper bag on the floor. Mrs Webber looking calm, bent down with the help of her very arched back and picked up the package. She laid it on her lap, reached inside, and pulled out the Postman's severed arm. She intertwined her fingers between the severed hand and looked forward towards the group of pigeons that returned her gaze. She grabbed the bag again and reaching in, pulled out another smaller hand wrapped in a red sweater. Taking Mrs Vogel’s ring finger between her hands, she ripped it from its socket and hurled it at the pigeons.

Wiccan Holidays: Yule Part 1
Tumblr media
Yule/The Winter Solstice: Part 1 History and Lore
As we celebrate Samhain and the descent into the darkness and start of the New Year, we acknowledge the days shortening and the end of Summer. When we finally reach the Winter Solstice, its time to celebrate that the darkness has reached its peak and the days will start to lengthen again as Winter begins. The Winter Solstice circles and inspires several Winter Holidays, the most common in the witchy world being Yule. But what exactly is Yule, where did it start and how do you celebrate? Join us on this 3 part series about all things Yule.
What exactly is the Winter Solstice?
The Winter Solstice is celebrated as the time where the Earth tilts away from the sun on its axis, nights begin to shorten and the days start to lengthen again. The winter solstice is celebrated around December 21st in the Northern Hemisphere and around June 21st in the Southern Hemisphere.
Tumblr media
But how does the Solstice pertain to Yule and other Winter Holidays?
Many European Cultures celebrated 2 seasons instead of 4. So when the days began to get colder and the harvest started to die off, they knew to hunker down and wait out the dark and gloomy weather until Summer returned.
To alleviate the boredom and dreariness of the cold; celebrating with singing and dancing, feasts with warm filling foods and spiced drinks became a regular thing shared with friends and family. From Saturnalia in Rome, to the Festival of the Return of the Sun in Egypt, all the way to Juul in Scandinavia, families celebrated and partied the winter away.
Yule: Where does it come from?
There are many speculations about Yule and it’s origins. Many of the traditions used such as the Yule log, Mistletoe and wassailing can be traced back to Norse, while Saturnalia helped bring around gift giving and early traditions of caroling. The Druids of the Celts of the British Isles also celebrated with mistletoe and evergreens.
Tumblr media
Yule is said to have come from one of several words and languages. Some say that is from the German word “yula” meaning wheel. The most common description is from the Norse word “Jol” or “Jul” or the Old English word “geohol” which meant the season of hunting after harvest. The word Yuletide was first used in 1475.
Regardless of what you call it, its a time of celebration!
Yule Traditions and Symbols
There are many symbols and traditions connected with Yule, most of them coming from Norse traditions. Some of the most common ones include the following.
The Yule Log/The Yule Tree
Perhaps one of the most widely known traditions of Yule, the Yule Log was a large trunk or tree that was carried into the home and decorated with symbols of protection. One end was lit with a piece from the previous year’s yule log and then the tree was slowly pushed into the hearth where it would burn for up to 12 days!
Once the tree was burned, the ashes were gathered and buried into the soil for good luck in the next years harvest.(We now know that potassium, which is found in wood ash, is very good for plants so it makes sense why they would consider it good luck!)
Any piece of the tree that had not been burned was placed under the bed of the home owner as a protective charm against fires, lightening and other bad luck. This piece was then used to light the next year’s Yule Log.
You can make your own (and much smaller!) Yule Log. Simply find a thick branch and drill 3 holes into it. Place candles of Red, White and Green(yule colors), Silver, Black and White(the moon) or White, Gold and Red(the sun). There’s a variety of decorations you can add to your yule log such as cinnamon sticks and orange slices. I’ll be writing a post more in depth about Yule logs as part of our series so check back in for that!
The Yule Tree
A Yule tree on the other hand was more of a Celt thing. An evergreen tree was chosen and brought into the home. It was then decorated with sweets, dried fruit and beautiful decorations. The idea was that if the tree spirits were brought inside and kept warm and fed, they would encourage Summer’s return.
Nowadays, many practicing wiccans and pagans combine the two rituals. Decorating a yule tree for the season and then saving part of the tree for the following year’s yule log/ bonfire lighting.
There’s also another spin of the Yule Log. The French created the Buche de Noel or The Yule Log cake which is commonly prepared as a dessert.
Like any tradition, celebrate the way you chose to!
Mistletoe
Mistletoe draws heavy inspiration from Norse Mythology as it was the wood used to kill Baldr.
As a wood that is not of the earth or the air. (Mistletoe grows as a parasite on other trees and shrubs actually). It was the only one of the Earth’s living beings that did not swear fealty to Frigg on not harming her son Baldr. Loki, the trickster god learned that this was the only thing that could harm Baldr.(Otherwise he was basically immortal and unharmable.) And in a fit of jealousy, tricked Baldr’s brother into throwing a mistletoe dart at him. At her son’s death, Frigg cried so hard that her tears turned to white berries.
We now use Mistletoe as a sign of love and romance, symbolizing that mistletoe would never again harm a person. Some traditions have Kissing Boughs, adorned with mistletoe and ribbons; and with every kiss, a berry was removed. When there were none left, the kissing stopped.
The Yule Goat(or Jul Bock)
If you’ve read my post about goats, you’ve seen me mention the Jul Bock.(if you’re interested in goats I totally recommend you check it out. Find that post here.)
Another Scandinavian tradition, the julbock was the bringer of gifts. Thor traveled on a chariot carried by 2 goats. And so people would leave food out for them in the hope they would visit. Over time, this tradition would change, becoming Odin riding Sleipnir and then Santa Claus and his 8 reindeer; but the Jul Bock still remains a large tradition.
If you want to see some friendly competition, research the war of the Julbock where 2 neighboring towns in Europe compete. Keeping a 20+ foot tall Straw goat up in their town, while the other group tries to destroy it or burn it down until the Solstice. Talk about some town rivals.
Feasts and Drinks
Tumblr media
The Buche de Noel is one of many dishes, as well as fruitcake, wassail, and just about any sweets you could think of.
Check out my post on Apple Magic for more info on Wassailing.
Pig was a dish served commonly during Yule as it was an offering to Freyr. Wild boar, later on just ham in general, was hunted and served as the Yule Feast.
The Druids would sacrifice a white bull for their rituals and feasts.
Modern traditions sees families embracing a variety of dishes; whether traditional Christmas fare, to families of different ethnicities sharing dishes from all over the world.
The Solstice and Other Winter Holidays
Yule-Wiccan Traditions
In Wicca there are 2 main stories applied to Yule. If you follow the cycle of the God and Goddess and their three forms, you would remember we left off at Samhain with the God’s death and the Goddess heavy with his child. Now with winter and the return of the sun not long behind. The Goddess gives birth to the child who will grow to become the New God.
There’s also the Holly King and the Oak King and their never-ending battle. During Mid-Summer, the Holly King won and the days began to get shorter as we got further from the solstice. Now as the days are at their shortest during the Winter Solstice, the Oak King takes over and will bring back the daytime until the next battle next Summer.
Saturnalia-Rome
Saturnalia is a Roman Holiday that begins December 17th. This week-long festival in honor of the god Saturn, involved sacrifices, gift-giving, and feasting.
Although this holiday was about celebrating and giving presents, more importantly, it was to honor an agricultural god.
Saturnalia gifts might include something like a writing tools, cups and spoons, clothing, or food. People decked their halls with boughs of evergreens, and hung small tin ornaments on bushes and trees. Bands of people often roamed the streets naked, singing and dancing; a sort of naughty precursor to today’s Christmas caroling tradition.
The Opet Festival-Egypt
The Sun God Ra (also know as Re, or Amun Re) was celebrated with his “rebirth” .The Rebirth was acted out by the Pharaoh and his consort. This festival was to reestablish communication with the gods and to ensure a good harvest. Originally the festival lasted for 11 days. By the end of Rameses III reign the festival was now a whopping 27 days long! Talk about celebrating all month!
Also in Egyptian mythology, the god Horus was born to a virgin Mother, Isis, on the night of the Solstice.(This is debated as being the inspiration for Christ’s birth when Christianity tried to merge Paganism with their celebrations.)
Soyal
The Zuni and Hopi tribes of North America celebrate the solstice with a celebration called Soyal. Also known as Soyaluna or Soyala. The Soyal celebration, lasting 16 days, includes ceremonies that symbolize bringing the sun back to the earth. Songs and traditional dances with masks and costumes are performed to welcome the kachinas. Kachinas also known as beneficial spirits, are believed to visit people during this time.
The Maya
The Maya Civilization was probably one of the most impressive cultures when it came to the sun and the solstices. Their impressive calendars, Maps and even their Pyramids and Palaces all revolved around the Sun and it’s journey. The Solstice being a fixed points in time means that the solstices were a big deal for them.
There are a total of at least 23 Holidays celebrated between November and December all around the world. And that’s not counting the ancient holidays that may have been forgotten by now. That’s an impressive amount! Which goes to show how much the solstice and the sun had an effect on the entire world.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once the war ended, Paul now found himself the sole leader of a devastating nation. His first instinct was to rebuild and pretty much do the same thing the rest of Europe was doing at the time. Aid from the American Marshall Plan certainly did help the people of Novoselic, eventually rebuilding the nation by the 1950s.
Tumblr media
However, the remainder of his rule as a monarch was going to be fully decided by his foreign policy. Paul knew that the country was in a precarious position, surrounded by the Yugoslavs on all sides. Memories of past wars and the more recent ones gave the people fear of another war, this time with Novoselic's long-standing rival. Paul had to act rapidly as the policies of Josip Tito made several people in the nation uncomfortable. He hoped to bank on the fact that Yugoslavia was breaking apart from the Eastern Bloc politically due to the Tito-Stalin split, thus denying Soviet aid for Yugoslavia in a war.
Tumblr media
Still, Paul knew this brief schism between the two wouldn't last forever. There was also the issue of the displaced Serbs located around the nation. During the war, massive numbers of Serbs, Croats, Bosnians, and other minorities were displaced in Novoselic thanks to the Nazis, and after the Communists took power, they decided to stay there in exile. Thus, the tensions between Novoselic and Yugoslavia became not only militarily, but demographically tense as the decades rolled by. Not wanting Novoselic to be threatened again, he decided to go on a path of "rapid militarization" but not in the way you expect.
Tumblr media
Instead, Paul's version of this policy would be strictly on the defensive. Within just a few years, military academies, schools, bases training camps, and other military structures were constructed. The amount of training reached unprecedented levels by 1955, with the Rastek introducing a law stating that all children at the level elementary would be taught how to wield arms and drive tanks, as a part of Paul's plan.
Tumblr media
His "magnum opus" however, was the construction of the Frederick line, named after one of Paul's heroes. It was a 150-kilometer defensive line, fortified massively, complete with anti-air guns, bunkers, watchtowers, trench lines, mines, and even barbed wire. Production started in 1953, and wasn't finished untill 1962! That had to be a big amount of time for construction.
Tumblr media
However, Paul had one issue with his policy: the lack of an arms industry. Novoselic didn't have the industrial or technological might to develop arms. Zoya had banned any development of homemade tech in favor of getting arms from the Germans. So Paul knew that in order to equip his new army, he would have to get arms from abroad, a policy that stuck with Novoselic into the modern day. So in 1951, he went to NATO to strike an agreement with them to join the alliance and receive advanced training and arms. In return, Novoselic would export the Makango fur and Skong feathers, as well as any other goods to the West and their allies. Nato agreed to the proposition.
Tumblr media
And so, in 1952, the Boston agreement was signed with Novoselic joining NATO. To the Yugoslavs, this was a shock considering they now have a NATO proxy right on their border. Needless to say, relations were cordially severed following the agreement. Thanks to the deal with NATO, the country received military equipment. FN Fals, Centurions, F-4 Phantom jets, even building a small navy themselves with Western ships. By 1962, Paul's defense policy was complete.
Tumblr media
Paul decided to build on his popularity with the people by forging strong alliances with other NATO and non-aligned nations in a way to expand international relations. He met with people like Charles De Gaul, Eisenhower, JFK, and even Queen Elizabeth. He vocally supported Israel as a fellow "warrior state" as he called it, gaining Israeli admiration, but making enemies with the Arab world. By the end of the 60s, Israel would be one of Novoselic's closest allies. He even got a Rolls Royce Silver Wraith gifted to him by the British prime minister.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Paul was even popular at home as well. He introduced new laws that paved the way for reading, education, and even universal healthcare of all things, making Novoselic a tourist destination. By the end of the '60s, Paul was re-elected for the sixth time as Monarch, making him the longest-serving Monarch in Novoselic history a feat unrivaled to this day. However as the 70s rolled in and at the start of the 80s, there were some issues on the foreign front.
Tumblr media
Yugoslavia had recovered from the split and had gotten military hardware from the Soviets through a trade deal. Tito had died and was replaced by a Serb leader, who encouraged Serb terrorism in Novoselic and called for the return of the ethnic Serbs. And Libya, under the leadership of Muammar " Mad Dog with Rabies" Gaddafi, was encouraging terrorism even more than the Serbs, vowing to free the oppressed Muslims, even seizing Novoselic shipping in some instances. Paul put sanctions on Libya, but the seizures went on.
Tumblr media
As he got older, Paul decided to not seek reelection, instead hoping that his children, Henry or Natashia, to succeed him. Many expected Henry to rule, mostly due to past trauma about the years under Zoya, and paranoia that Natashia might be like Zoya, with history repeating itself. Also, Natashia's obsession with the occult had started to alienate a good amount of Christians, the Catholic Church, and even Muslims. Needless to say, the odds were not in her favor.
Tumblr media
So in 1985, the elections began and many expected Henry to come out on top. But it was the opposite. Natashia, by one vote in the closest election to date for the nation, was now the new monarch. Henry accepted his loss, and Paul congratulated her. Thus, Natashia became the new ruler of a politically troubled nation.

A Guide to Choosing the Right Gift
We've all been informed that it's "more honored to give than to get", however is it? Indeed, assuming that you get the gift right it very well may be! The experience of watching somebody open a gift you've picked and seeing the delight and fervor spread across their face is one that unquestionably grants the provider a feeling of bliss and fulfillment. Time and again, notwithstanding, the demeanor on the essence of the collector is, best case scenario, one of gentle lack of engagement, and to say the least one of frustration. Picking the Return Gifts India can be similar to navigating a precarious situation, however for what reason is it so troublesome? This article investigates a portion of the justifications for why picking the right gift can be a genuine test, and offers a few clues and tips to assist you with taking care of business.
Limited it down
Gifts fall extensively into two classes; commonsense and spoil. Useful gifts could incorporate things like another toaster oven or a zebra print directing wheel cover, while spoil gifts could incorporate a day at a wellbeing spa or a container of wine. Realizing the character sort of the individual you're purchasing for is pivotal in figuring out which kind of gift would be generally fitting. Certain individuals might see spoil gifts as being trivial and maybe even inefficient and accordingly these gifts might see little use; they might try and be disposed of totally. Then again, certain individuals might be disheartened by a useful gift feeling that they need to partake in their unique event with no thought for common sense. Having a reasonable thought of the classification into which your gift will fall, thusly, is the most important phase in picking the right gift for your planned beneficiary.
What's the event?
In many areas of the planet, gift-giving is solidly established in custom. In center eastern nations, for instance, presents ought to be offered and gotten utilizing either the right hand or two hands. In Hong Kong and Japan, two hands ought to be utilized. In western culture, where the rundown of events requiring a gift appears consistently extending, the satisfactory ways of behaving encompassing gift giving are maybe less formalized, but the strain to choose the ideal gift for each event has never been more noteworthy. In past times, presents would generally have been given for birthday events, weddings, Christmas and maybe the introduction of another child. In present day culture, it is the standard to give gifts for commitment, graduations, moving into another house, Valentine's day, commemorations, new positions Mother's Day, Father's Day, Grandparent's Day, a new pet....and the rundown goes on! The event for which you intend to purchase a present (notwithstanding the character of the expected beneficiary) can illuminate both your gift type and your gift spending plan. It would be normal, for instance, that more cash would be spent on a wedding gift for your sister, than for another home gift for a work partner. Over spending on a gift can be similarly as awkward for the gift beneficiary as under spending. Remember that giving a showy present can come down on the collector to answer in kind when it's your chance to get!
Coming up or On the web

Fortunately numerous web retailers
offer entirely sensible postage charges, some significantly offer free postage and bundling; search around and ensure you get yourself a reasonable plan.

While regulation offers a specific measure of insurance for online customers, it can't make up for the bother and dissatisfaction of trusting that your bundle will show up just to find that it is of low quality or inadmissible for your motivation. Get some margin to peruse the remarks of past customers and save yourself the irritation of returning things sometime in the not too distant future.

How To Make The Best Investment On An Heirloom Jewelry Piece
Tumblr media
As fun as planning to buy or sell your own jewelry may seem, you need to do some research to begin and to avoid losing a lot of money. Another thing is that you need to understand what to look for when you're buying or selling. These tips below can help you start.
Try keeping up with jewelry trends. Like with fashion, jewelry also follows seasonal trends and you can find a style and color combination that is right for you. You can even find specialty items that go with clothing pieces in your own personal wardrobe. The possibilities and combinations are endless.
Try opting for silver over gold. The olden days of silver being a lesser metal than gold are over. Silver is also consistently priced, while gold continues to rise in price. You don't have to worry about karats with this metal. Just make sure to avoid nickel silver or German silver as they contain no real silver.
When you are deciding what type of jewelry to buy for a loved one, it is important that it is something that they will love passionately and adore for the rest of their lives. This is not something you want to decide hastily. If you do, they may very likely not like your gift.
To show off a graceful neck, try wearing a choker. A choker will immediately draw eyes to your neckline and can accentuate it in a variety of ways. A simple ribbon choker can make your neck look more delicate, while a dramatic, showy choker can make your neck look longer. If you're proud of your neck, a choker is a great way to complete any look.
To best protect the investment you made in your jewelry purchase, take care of it. Do not wear it when you do something like cleaning your house. If you do this, the chemicals you expose your jewelry to could harm the precious metals and stones. It's likely worth the minute that it takes to remove it.
When buying gold, be sure that your receipt is clearly marked with the karat weight, as well as the manufacturer. These are things you need to know in case you later want to appraise or sell the piece, or perhaps have it re-sized. The information included is also necessary for any returns processes you may have to go through.
Try to fix scratches in watch glass before you waste money at a jeweler. Watch faces can easily get scratched by their constant exposure to the elements. To fix this, try rubbing a small amount of your toothpaste into the face of the watch. Use circular motion and see the scratches disappear like magic.
Purchasing a piece of jewelry is a rather hefty decision based upon the price tag of the item. When you are in the market for a piece of jewelry, take the time to figure out what you are looking for, the budget you are allowing yourself, and what overall quality you seek in the item.
Keep a silver polishing cloth handy so you can quickly wipe down your jewelry before you put it on. Frequently polishing your jewelry will not only make it look great but it will also keep it from tarnishing as quickly. Keep your jewelry looking pristine when you use a polishing cloth frequently.
While figuring out the best way to buy or sell jewelry was pretty exciting, you should feel better that you know how to do them better. You can now apply your newly acquired knowledge either to buying a new piece for yourself or selling more pieces you have to make more money.

Schwarzbär!!! : ep149
With enough lighter fluid, even the greenest wood will burn. The eurotrash climbers in the next campsite saw us return from the grocery store in the Ferrari and have decided to join us at the campfire in hopes that we’ll share our wine and cheese.
And of course we do.
The eurotrash climbers are young, maybe late teens or twenty at the most, but they’re fit as oxes with fingers thicker than bratwursts, and for their tender young age, they’re good at drinking. We (roughly) planned our food allotment for the week. It’s mostly gourmet charcuterie from Oakville Grocery, supplemented with a mix of ordinary cheeses, breads and crackers that we purchased at the Yosemite store with the intention of having “regular” food for our hikes.
We didn’t plan on feeding four mouths, and it would be perfectly acceptable for Cheyenne to share our “ordinary” hiking groceries with the eurotrash climbers. But Cheyenne knows what it’s like to not have a lot of money (she is after all a waitress) so she’s carried forward the ruse that she’s part of a rich Ferrari driving aristocratic couple, and has generously shared our finest cheeses, olives, figs and crackers.
I should also point out that we are NOT drinking cheap wine either, and we’ve been generously passing the bottles around the campfire. On this camping trip, we’re doing “more than our fair share” to help reduce Henrik’s wine surplus.
In return for her generosity, we’ve been given the gift of entertaining conversation. The eurotrash kids are actually aspiring professional rock climbers. They make just enough money to survive on the road and travel from country to country, climbing the finest crags around the world. They’re here to test their mettle on a route ominously named Lurking Fear, a sturdy 19 pitch, four-day climb located on the far western edge of El Capitan.
They’re an animated couple of young fellows and they take turns standing up to tell “nearly died” stories about bagging snowy peaks in Patagonia and on the fabled Eiger. Their accents are comically Swiss-German and each story ends with “Zat vas a cloze von” with the other kid responding “Proscht!” (which roughly translates to “cheers!”).
About every third story or so, one of the eurotrash kids disappears into the darkness for a few minutes and returns with an armful of dead branches to put on the fire. Cheyenne is uncorking the fourth (or so) bottle of Silver Oak when we hear the kid screaming for his life in the forest behind the campground. He comes running past the campsite in hysterics shouting “Schwarzbär!!! Schwarzbär!!! Schwarzbär!!!” and sends the other eurotrash kid into a panic. They’re both running around in circles making a commotion and Cheyenne falls off of her log laughing so hard that she spills the wine bottle everywhere.
Cheyenne: Help me up.
Me: What’s wrong with those two??
Cheyenne: Hahahaha. I think he stumbled upon a little black bear in the woods.
Me: Oh, hahaha Schwarzbär!
The commotion causes a couple of the older, wiser campers to take notice, and indeed there are a bright pair of eyes shining back at us from the dark forest. It’s a medium size black bear hoping to scavenge a little food from the campsite. Aside from the damage to automobiles, Yosemite bears are harmless critters. With a flashlight and a couple of sticks, the older climbers shoo away the bear without drama or fanfare. However, we won’t see our heroic young Swiss climbing team again until morning.
