“This type of glaze was called chuiqing or 'blown blue' in China, and known as bleu soufflé or fouetté in Europe. The powdered cobalt was blown through a bamboo cane that had a fine gauze at one of the extremities.

Objects with powdered blue glaze were produced since the late 17th century, and by the early 18th century fine gilded decorations of flowers, landscapes and symbolic motifs were added on the surface. They were particularly favoured in the Middle East but also widely exported in Europe.”

ok i scored sofia and stiliana's hoop EFs myself and long story short i concur with the official standings. sofia deserved gold

my scores:

sofia 10.9 DB + 6.4 DA = 17.3

stiliana 9.5 DB + 5.6 DA = 14.7

official scores:

sofia 11.4 DB + 6.1 DA = 17.5

stiliana 10.1 DB + 6.1 DA = 16.2

thoughts on difference between my scores and official scores:

sofia DB: i think they counted the pivot combo while i didn't (+0.5)

sofia DA: i think they didn't count the catch in direct roll DA while i downgraded it to a catch from large throw (-0.3)

stiliana DB: i think they counted a balance that i didn't bc incomplete roll (+0.5), and maybe counted a rotation in side inclination pivot that i thought she didn't have fixed shape for (+0.2), and maybe didn't count the last rotation of the last risk? (-0.1)

stiliana DA: idk i guess they counted 1 more roll and something else, maybe that first transmission she does at the start that doesn't look like anything to me. and i thought i was already being generous abt her rolls lol

#rg #sofia surprisingly had both higher starting DB and DA scores compared to stiliana so she had more room for error #but stiliana fell out of some of her pivots which is an uncharacteristic mistake for her. but the judges counted extra rotations anyway... #u know what. it's bc stiliana only attempted 2 combo DB. i forget if she usually does 3. also she doesn't do fouettés with straight leg #in her hoop routine at least
