in life updates: decided to enroll in a notoriously difficult class this semester. civil law is my achilles heel, and i also wanted to force myself into better study habits and time management. last week, i took the midterm and braced myself for a fail: despite improvements in the way i prepared for class and spoke during cold calls, i'd still been struggling over the semester. after the exam ended, i went and checked the schedule for dropping classes. one week later. dear reader, i passed.

everytime i watch a new tv show or read a new book set in usa, i just get even more confused how tf the educutional system works

it was honestly so much better than i thought it would be. it’s a lot of work, and i won’t downplay that. just constant reading and studying, often at the expense of sleep and rest. but it absolutely flew by. i got my final grades back this past week and it really sunk in that i did it. it definitely took the first semester to settle into the groove of it, and a lot of overthinking that i was making a terrible mistake. but if you’re willing to put in the work and can find a solid way to cope with the stress then it is absolutely worth it. people talk smack about lawyers but it is super rewarding knowing that we can help people in some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

#i was scared out of my mind leading up to law school starting #and those first months was just second guessing if i should even be there #but i kept being told ‘the admissions councils don’t make mistakes’ #it really does make you realize just how much you can be capable of #i’ve done an insane amount of work the past year #and i am really proud of myself #cried after my first exam feeling like i bombed it and ended up with an A #this sounds absurd but #fucking ace attorney 💀 #a lot of it is recognizing patterns and being able to apply rules #also heard the LSAT is changing which is amazing #studying for it was nightmare I hate that MF #but you absolutely need to get an LSAT prep book bc it’s such a wild exam #logic games my arch nemesis 😡 #i was also so scared of cold calling but everyone screws up at some point #you stop thinking about it tbh

finished my first year of college last week and i truly do not know how to feel about it

#i wanna go back i dont wanna be in my home town i miss it so much and it literally hasnt even been a week since i left #anyway. #my grades defintely were not what i wanted them to be and i have to get my shit together big time if i wanna go to law/grad school lol #BUT #besides that and me getting mold poisining and being sick the entire first semester it really wasnt bad at all #i met so many wonderful people and did so many fun things and i absolutely cannot wait to move into my apartment in august #and start my sophmore year #i have so so so so so so so so many exciting things to look forward to #plus i'm really excited for my classes next semester so i hope those go well #i'll be finishing my minor in my spring semester so i'm going to try to find something else to minor in since i couldn't double major #i also really have to get the ball rolling on taking classes for my major because almost everything has just been geneds so far and that #is not doing me any good so i'll definetly be taking some summer classes #but anywhosies all in all it was really good and i absolutely cannot wait to go back #lacey talks
