wait.. i’m literally on here or weibo almost 24/7 ( as you can tell lol ) but I feel like i missed something. i’m seeing clowning related to xz’s photos and how it looks like he is a groom and it’s a wedding photoshoot. the place is also famous for wedding shoots ( allegedly, idk. i’m not from there ) so turtles are imagining again. lol. freakin coincidence that wyb’s GRA photoshoot was done at a wedding shop. plus the “wedding outfits” for weibo night. which is all clowning and galaxy braining.🌌

now, we’re joking around, like where’s yibo? he should be taking photos with his partner.

then i see comments that there is this one song WYB recently listened to. meaning, as recent as when XZ flew to singapore which is called 超人不会飞 (superman can’t fly) by Jay Chou. i know WYB and everyone else is a big fan of Jay Chou but the clowning comes from the timing of when he listened to it. let me get to that first.

here is the song if you wanna listen to it. 🎶

turtles are interpreting it as WYB longing to “fly” to where XZ is and be with him but he can’t because of all his work commitments. he wants to take a breather. thinking about what his life is and the constraints, and at times like this, when they spent days in Beijing, but now they have to be apart, it affects him even more.

however when i read the lyrics, it could also be because he can relate to what jay chou is singing about. here’s the english translation i found here. i have bolded the ones i felt like WYB relates too. literally no need for explanation. just read it. It fits with his status in life so much that it’s almost scary.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with how cpfs are relating this to cpn cause that’s just how it is. But sometimes, there are other reasons why they do what they do.

SO MY CONFUSION COMES FROM HOW THE HELL DO PEOPLE KNOW WHAT HE RECENTLY LISTENED TO. I can’t seem to dig up how or maybe it’s something we don’t talk about. I have never experienced this kind of tidbit related to them before so I wanna know the source. Or is this like the gaming cpn where certain people know and they will not divulge the boy’s account for privacy? if anyone knows, feel free to comment. If i find out in the future, I will share.

Been talking about how most side pairings in Cdrama are super boring and frankly, a waste of what time they have, so here's a poll for

Costume Cdramas I watched in 2023

This was my first year in Dramaland (both Chinese and Korean). And I have to say that for the most part I have enjoyed my journey in discovering the dramas. This list includes dramas that were released before 2023 as well.

7. Starry Love

It is a story of twin sisters - the gentle and kind Liguang Qing Kui and the smart and cunning Liguang Ye Tan. Qing Kui is betrothed to the heveanly prince and Ye Tan is betrothed to the demon prince however mistakenly they switch places and have to navigate the heavenly realm and demon realm alone relying on their wits. For me the strongest aspect of the drama was the bond between the sisters. It focuses more on the romance of Ye Tan and Xuan Shang and the heavenly realm which I was not much interested in so I skipped through a lot of it. However, I did enjoy the romance of Qing Kui and Chao Feng and the demon realm story which was unfortunately not given enough screen time. As the heavenly realm part of the drama failed to get me invested in both its characters and story, I didn't enjoy this drama a lot.

6. Love you Seven Times

Xiang Yun, a fairy working in the marriage pavilion and Chu Kong, the God of War are accidentally entangled by the red thread of fate and go through love tribulations. I enjoyed their romance and the story was also good. However, I feel it would have turned out better if the drama had more episodes so that the tribulations could be more immersive and impactful. Also, it had less action than I expected from a Xianxia. It was still a fun watch for me.

5. Ancient Love Poetry

This is an epic story of gods and love spanning thousands of years. I will not even attempt to give a primer for its story. The romance, story, action everything is great and it also has really good secondary romances and friendships are also good. The problem I had with this drama is that I enjoyed the first God realm arc a lot however in the second arc I couldn't get fully invested in Houchi and Qing Mu. Also, as a novice to xianxias I had some trouble following the story from the second arc onwards which meant I couldn't enjoy it as much. I still consider it a must watch for xianxia fans but its not for newbies that's for sure.

P.S.- I was devastated with Yue Mi's death so I'm happy that we'll be getting the continuation of her story with Moonlight Mystique.

4. Love between Fairy and Devil

It is a drama about Orchid, a low ranking fairy and Dongfang Qing Cang, the Moon Supreme of the Moon Tribe who are enemies of the immortal fairies, and their forbidden romance. The romance (of both the main and second couple) is really good, the story is compelling and the dynamic between the main and secondary cast is enjoyable. I found the action somewhat lacking. This is a really enjoyable drama especially for those getting into xianxias as the story while not simple, is easy to follow.

3. Romance between Tiger and Rose

In this drama, Chen Xiao Qian, a screenwriter transported into her own story, becoming the Third Princess Chen Qian Qian, a side character. Armed with the knowledge of her own script in which her character is soon to be killed in the third episode by Prince Han Shuo, the male lead, Xiao Qian is determined to stay alive and return to her own world. It is an excellent romcom with great chemistry and fun bickering between the main leads. While the story is straight forward for the most part, it does offer some commentary on gender discrimination and gender norms. It is a really fun and a must watch and has great rewatch value.

2. Story of Kunning Palace

Jiang Xuening is the selfish and ambitious daughter of a court official who ruthlessly uses her charm and cunning for becoming empress. Her schemes lead to the downfall of the royal family and the ruin of both her childhood sweetheart Yan Lin and the once incorruptible Zhang Zhe. Desperate and full of regret, she pleads to exchange her life for the freedom of Zhang Zhe. She awakens in her 18-year old self, who has yet to enter the palace with a chance to do better this time. Even though she vows to steer clear of the palace and its court intrigues, she becomes entangled in them anyways. Apart from Jiang Xue Ning the main cast includes : Xie Wei - JXN's teacher and a ruthless political mastermind, Zhang Zhe - an upright and dedicated officer in the Ministry of Justice, Yan Lin - loyal heir of the Yan family who is in love with JXN, Shen Zhi Yi - the optimistic and resilient princess. It’s so rare for a drama to combine so many great things - a competent and smart female lead, gripping script, top tier looks, chemistry (with the male lead and the secondary leads), steady pace, no childishness, very happy ending. All the actors did an amazing job, in particular Bai Lu who embodied JXN and depicted her thoughts and feelings in a way that the audience could connect with JXN and root for her. The character arcs for the entire main cast were satisfying and done beautifully. I only wished that they showed the past life in one go and with some more scenes for JXN's character growth to be more impactful and that they removed the bright spotlight aimed directly at the camera which took me out of those scenes. This is definitely a must watch for costumed cdrama lovers.

1. Till the end of the moon

Li Susu, an immortal time travels 500 years into the past to prevent the ascension of the Devil god, who goes on to destroy the world in the future. It's a story of love and hate, good and evil, redemption and damnation. The characters are very well conceptualized and depicted beautifully by talented actors, stunning costumes, really good hair and makeup, and great cinematography. The amazing production and set design along with impressive visual effects and CGI really immerse the audience in the world of TTEOTM. Their romance is my ultimate enemies to lovers pairing. It has just the right amount of fighting, messiness, animosity and angst for me. Their visuals, their chemistry, their acting and the story everything was so great. Who else has three epic weddings in one drama? For the most part the story was gripping, progressed at a good pace and conveyed many themes that become apparent on rewatches. While some were disappointed by the ending to me it was clear that they reunite once again and live happily. I am still not able to move on from this couple and drama.

Cute/Romantic Fluffy Chinese Dramas: A Rec Post

I’ve been watching Chinese dramas (and Taiwanese and Korean and Japanese dramas) for fourteen years. Things have been hit or miss for the last five-seven years, which is why I’ve picked up lakorns, telenovelas from Mexico and South American countries, Spanish dramas, Turkish dramas, basically anything from anywhere.But, lately - for the last two months - I’ve really been interested in watching fluffy romantic Chinese dramas. Here are some that I’ve watched and enjoyed lately:

Enteral Love of Dream aka Three Lives Three Worlds, The Pillow Book:

About: The love story of Feng Jiu and Dong Hua. A bit different from the first series and a bit different from the novel. (It’s a bit of a mashup.)

My Thoughts: Once these two start really interacting - as themselves - (around episode 24) things get adorable. Watching Dong Hua, who is a 100,000 year old virgin flirt with Feng Jiu, whose 30,000 is just pure charm. He loves her so much and they have amazing chemistry.

Length and Were to Watch: 50 episodes. It is on the WeTV website/app. Almost all the scenes of them interacting are on the Tencent Youtube page.

The Romance of Tiger and Rose:

About: Struggling screenwriter Xiao Qian falls into her own script, where she is trapped as the bratty third princess, a minor character who was supposed to die in the third episode. Xiao Qian works hard to try and make her script play out the way it is supposed to (and then tries to stop it from playing out) as she falls for Han Shuo, a prince who was supposed to marry someone else.

My Thoughts: This drama, y’all. This drama’s couple. I. Love. It. One of my new favorite Chinese dramas. It’s in my top ten. The chemistry between Zhao Lu Shi and Ryan Ding is amazing. The characters of Xiao Qian and Han Shuo are so sweet together and balance one another so well. I almost want a second season. Or for the two leads to work together again. Oh, and VERY little angst. Han Shuo is a one woman man.

I’ve Fallen For You:

About: Female investigator Tian Sanqi mets Sanqi. She is searching for her “older brother” who disappeared. He’s promised to only marry his childhood friend. The two met and through some misunderstandings, she thinks he’s the brother and the two marry. They end up solving crimes and mysterious, while discovering a conspiracy that is ten years in the making.

My Thoughts: It is very cute and fluff as you watch it, but fairly forgettable when it’s over. Also has some unneeded angst with the return of Sanqi’s childhood love. It’s a great binge drama, but not the best.

Length and Were to Watch: 24 episodes. On iQiyi website/app and Viki.

The Sweet Girl:

About: Mi Jiuer lives her life robbing the rich to give to the poor. One day she runs right into Lu Yi Ling who looks exactly like her. Through some mistake, Jiuer poses as Lu Yi Ling's in order to work at the Yun Clothing Workshop. Lu Yi Ling's change in personality don’t go unnoticed by her “boss” - Luo Yin Ran, who goes from suspecting her to becoming attracted to her.

My Thoughts: I have a feeling that this drama was edited down, because there are some story lines that don’t feel very complete/have missing scenes. But, Kris Sun and Jin Wen Xin have lovely chemistry as the leads. And it’s cute to watch Yin Ran fall very quickly for Jiuer, who thinks he’s insane. The second-couple, of Yin Ran’s playboy foster brother and Jiuer’s friend are also cute, but they suffer from an underdeveloped story line, either because of edits or just a lack of writing.

Mr. Fox and Miss. Rose:

About: Gao Zhen He, a young man, who makes his living by exploring high-end gemstones has accidentally dropped off a cliff and finds a place under it where a primitive tribe has located. After the female tribe leader, Xing Yue rescues Gao Zhen He; she wants him to be her man. To obtain the rare gems of the tribe, Gao Zhen He pretends to marry Xing Yue. After obtaining the gems, he flees back to the city, and Xing Yue goes after him to mostly find him and her gems, which leads to a series of stories.

My Thoughts: When the leads are being cute and in love, it’s great. But, the male lead takes way too long to realize he loves the female lead. (episode 20/21) And, he manipulates her a lot in the beginning of their relationship and then he lies to her. It may be to protect her, but it felt wrong. Just. Tell. Her. What. Is. Happening. Xing Yue ‘s tribe has some problematic aspects.

Please Love Me:

About: Two different people leading different lives cross paths due to a scheme around a candid camera incident. To deal with the aftermath, popular star Yi Han and manicurist Pei You You who has always dreamed of buying her own house enter into a marriage contract. From strangers who wanted nothing to do with each other, the pretend couple eventually develop real feelings. However, reports of their agreement leak to the public. Furthermore, a conspiracy that has been brewing for a long time comes to the surface. Can Yi Han still prove that his heart is true?

My Thoughts:The ML spends way too much time thinking he’s in love with his agent. Like, why too much time. And there is a clear lack of communication between the two leads. But, when Yi Han and You You are on the right page, it is magic. The second-couple of You You’s half brother and Yi Han’s co-star lacks development, but is very sweet.

Length and Were to Watch: 24 episodes. On Viki and the MangoTV app/website.

Flavour It’s Yours:

About:Lu Wei Xun is a genius wine critic who is cold and unapproachable. In his field, he is regarded as a tyrant because of his strict expectations and well-respected for having the perfect sense of taste. For some reason, Lu Wei Xun crosses paths with the upbeat He Bu Zui, a young woman who lost her sense of taste since she was young.

My Thoughts: The chemistry between the leads is awesome. There is some weirdness with Bu Zui and her first love, that takes up way too much time. And the story line was just not working with the series.

Length and Were to Watch: 25 episodes. On iQiyi website/app and Viki as Instead of Tipsy Why Not Get Drunk.
