Facebook restricted my accounts for three days over a video that I posted on Monday June 28th 2021. In the video, a woman that my brother is dating because she is a sucker named Andrea Gigilo (? I will get her name and post the correct spelling) is saying that I have a mental illness and that I have posts on Facebook on Marie Deiona, claiming that my father and my uncle's raped me. This woman is so ignorant and diabolical that she even says that I loved being raped, I love "the D word" and that I enjoyed being raped. And she chants "your daddy raped you, your daddy raped you." I am so amazing as a person that that is all she could think of to insult me.
I recorded her saying this to me and I posted a video with Dr. John Hall, Robert Duncan and Zeph Daniel in it where they discuss "mental rape" and influenced nightmares which can be done with satellite technology and "advanced" military weapons.
I am going to post this video again and I am never deleting it. I am very proud to present it because I am not ashamed of surviving psychotronic warfare and mind control. I am also not ashamed to expose cover ops or really pathetic and ignorant woman who are evil and will never evolve in life. She might expect her abandoned children to be her care taker when she is old and vulnerable. All of her children were left in foster care but she gets high every day and she never tried to get them back. She eats other people's kids food stamps but claims she can't comb a little girl's hair. She does nothing for my brothers children.
There is so much information about mind control that people can not deny that I am telling the truth and that I am a targeted individual. People like Andrea treat me like I am hopeless, as if I will never survive and this woman has a daughter who joined the military because she needed financial security. Andrea has proudly told me that she will inherit her daughter's baby if and when her daughter is killed or raped serving over seas and that she will get a check if it happens. I would take my beautiful daughter to Canada with me. I'd make plans to make sure she lives a long life not to bury her and get a check. Why would a mom tell a woman that, especially me?!
This is a woman who lied to my family and told us she only had five children. And then it was six. And then, it was seven children. All are in foster care or servings in the military. And she has dated my twin brother for three years and not once did she try to look for an apartment on her own, for her family. She has traveled to about five to seven states, gets high every day and she was dumb enough to post her vacation pictures on FB with her kids in foster care. Her solution for having a b.f that doesn't want her teen's living with him is "the system will provide their rent once they are out of foster care." My brother did not want this woman's 16 year old in his apartment that she lived in two years alone or at all really. And it's because this teen was dying to fuck. Stuck her baby's dad in her adopted mom's house and lost her baby. Had an STD and is pregnant again. I kept joking 2019 and through 2021 "someone's teen will get pregnant before I do." And it happened. But, my twin thinks she is a bad mom and doesn't mentor her daughter well.
This woman and my twin tried to bully me out of my apartment after I moved into it and she quit a few jobs and so did he, just to get my brother to demand she move in with us.
She has stolen over $12000 from a family member of her adopted mother. She stole their banking information and she brought drugs, left them in her mom's home and her kids dad reported her to police and because all the drugs were in her mom's house, her mom was affected and was on probation. Her adopted mom lost some of her vision during her probation. There is more to it but Andrea ruins people's lives. In March, they lived with Deiontays friend until my twin and I moved together just for a year and they ruined that friendship because they cross people's boundaries.
Andrea has also had a house burned down by her b.f she says. She posted on FB when she met my twin that she will murder him or marry him. Only a bum does that or says that. Only a loser it that pathetic.
Most people in her life believe that she is trouble so I did not want her moving into my home. And that made this woman say that I loved being raped by my dad and uncles.
Karma is so real. She has teen's and a few grandchildren. Everything I say is true and nothing she said was true. I am keeping the video and posting it to a new YouTube account.

He made her cry...
SchnibbityMom Sherrie May 19, 2013  · Klamath Falls
He made her cry...again.
As a parent, you know you're not always going to make the best choices, but you hopefully try not to make the bad ones. She asked him to the Senior Banquet/Dinner. In the past, I'd have paid for him, then he usually (not always), would pay me back. But this time I demurred, when someone owes you thousands of dollars, you hesitate to put yourself on the hook for even a measly $15 more.
She decided if he asked to cover the cost, that she would and then he would (hopefully) pay her back. And yes, he asked her...she went and bought the tickets...she told him they were here...he had well over a month to send her the $$. He promised her he would.
One week went by, nothing. Two weeks went by, still nothing. She reminded him on a few of their frequent phone calls, (I've never denied him access, even driving both girls almost 100 miles to visit numerous times over the years, before they were able to drive)themselves. And whenever he called to talk to me about anything, when we were done, I'd always ask, "Do you want to talk to the girls?"
He comes into town & actually calls me, wants to come by to drop off a Mother's Day card for HIS Mom, (who I take care of). Because he is angry with me, he won't even come in the door, she over hears him calling me a bitch in conversation with his Mother. This is between he and I, they don't need to hear this crap. We have souvenirs that we purchased for him when we were on our vacation in March, plus, when he left so abruptly then, he left meds and cords & etc, that have been sitting here. Because he was mad, he wouldn't come get them, so they sat. He actually told me to send them to him. Um...no. The $15?? Not there again.
She needed info from the VA for college, since he's considered disabled, the VA will help with both girls college tuition. She's been talking to him almost daily about it, he has helped her with the info, she's again requested the money for the ticket. "I'll send it tomorrow, along with the paperwork you need."
Tomorrow comes and she calls me from school, in the middle of the day. Not usual. She got called to the office, there was something for her. Turns out, he dropped off the paperwork she needed, brought it 92 miles into town to give to her, driving his nice Corvette. (The same Corvette that he damaged 6 weeks ago, and within 2 days, took into the body shop to be repaired. Somehow he was able to cover the deductible--oh that's right, he didn't send our money this month again.) He has Dr's appointments in town, makes sense he'd drop it off, we'll give him the benefit of the doubt. The $15?? Not  included.
She talks to him later that day and for the next several days on the VA info, she again requests the $15, "I'll send it tomorrow." "Mom, what should I do, he keeps telling me, and it never shows up?" I tell her it's best to just wait a bit longer, keep giving him the benefit of the doubt. Why? I don't know... I spent close to 30 years giving him that benefit. It's a hard habit to break. She knows that he & I are having issues, but I tell her that is between the two of us. It does not involve her and her sister.
She wants to ask someone else, I suggest she wait. Of course, that's what we've been doing all along, waiting. And waiting, and waiting some more. It's been over a month, she's finally decided she's going to tell him she's asking someone else, but she's worried he'll be angry with her. I tell her, "No, he won't get mad, he's a grownup, and you've given him more than enough opportunities to send you the $$."
This is what I tell her, but what I know in my heart is, he'll be pissed, he'll say something awful, he'll make her cry. I'm sure he has no idea how many times he's made her cry, she tries so hard, she just wants him to not be angry at her. I tell her sometimes people get angry, if he does, over something so minor as this, then he's the one with the problem.
She finally bites the bullet and tells me she's going to call him and tell him she's asked someone else. She's hesitant, she's nervous, but she calls. It's worse than I expected. I hear a suspicious sound and come around the corner and she's standing there crying. "He got mad." "What did he say?" I ask her. She tells him she sent in the military paperwork, they chat about other things, then she tells him because he never sent in the $$ for the ticket, she's giving it to someone else. "So, basically, you sold my ticket?" "Yes, it's been over a month, you could've brought the money in with the paperwork, but you didn't.""I was broke," he says, yet that didn't stop him from buying new computer software, hardware, or going to Madras for the weekend to race his car, or any of the other races that he will be going to throughout the summer."
So you're going to let your Mother run your life for you? I see, you've made your decision...goodbye." Of course, now it's my fault, even though I had nothing to do with her decision. She couldn't stop crying, I've gotten very good at being used as a kleenex. Sad to say, but true, and any words of solace & comfort sounded completely hollow.
At 18, she is more of an adult and more mature than he'll ever be. I've tried so hard over the years to maintain an even keel between him and I, strictly for the girls sake. After all of the detritus that came after he divorced his older girls mother, I never wanted him to have that type of strained, angry, drama filled, tumultuous relationship with his younger girls. He continues to make it harder and harder for me to do this.
These are beautiful, talented, smart, loving and engaging young ladies who want a stable father figure in their lives, I think they deserve that much.
But he made her cry...again.
UPDATE---Wednesday May 19th. 2021
Hard to believe it's been 8 years since I posted this. I've been mostly off FB lately, just haven't felt the need, except to post birthday wishes and like a few posts.
The fact that this has become a (once again) thing, only different circumstances, makes me angrier than ever. The kiddos are older and, yes, wiser. They talk to him on a fairly regular basis, he won't answer my calls or texts; as a matter of fact, the only time he has in the last 6 months was after his daughter (my step-daughter) Cathy was hit and killed on NYE, and then again when Mom died.
After Cathy died, he came up and stayed with us (which he does whenever he comes up), we went to the funeral together, I was there to support him however I could. He was devastated to lose the 2nd of his three older daughters and I was there for him. After Mom passed, he expressed his condolences, but never came up for the memorial, even though Mom always considered him a son, even after our divorce.
The fact that he owes literally thousands in alimony and I can't attach any of it because he's considered disabled, he's a veteran and he's on SS. I drove down to Lakeview twice in 2019 when he was lost in the Lake County desert and almost died and each time I stayed in a hotel and never asked him for a penny. And believe me when I say, it really isn't about the money. If he just followed through and kept his word, it would mean a world of difference. In trying to be a good human and help family, I think I've been more than gracious over the years.
But, this post, from 8 years ago, this...has me throwing up my hands in defeat. When I remember just this one incident of many and see how he's continued on with his selfish ways to this day, it used to make me cry. No more. I'm tired of his conceited, narcissistic, childish behavior.
I know I'm not perfect...far from it. But I just can't. Not anymore. I'm done.

Ghirmai Kidane (Wedi Filipo): A multi-talented artist and a political activist
Mohamed Kheir
From a previous post in FB
When you listen to the masterpiece song, ‘Abbay Abbashawel’, the first thing that comes to your mind may be the name, Alamin Abdullatif, who sang the song. When you listen to songs on the radio or TV in our country or Ethiopia we are told about the singer only. All the credit goes to the singer.  Listen to a song in Sudanese and the Arab world media, they tell first about the song writer, then the music composer and last comes the singer; a culture that appreciates all the contributions. Abbay Abbashawel, among other songs, was written and its music composed by Wedi Filipo. Girmai Kidane is not only a song writer, a musician but a political activist, too. This note which is based on an interview with him, sheds light through various milestones not only his life, but on the role of Eritrean artists on political activism. He was born almost 72 years ago on 19.06.1942. His father, Kidane Abraha Gangoul was born in Segeneiti and his mother Leteberhan Zere Yohannes was born in Kor Barya. His father died mysteriously in 1959, in the Imperial Palace and he says that was on orders from Emperor Haile Sellasie. His family was denied the corpse. He says a living witness that this event took place is the former Ethiopian President, Girmai Woldeghiorgis, who used to work as a security agent in Eritrea during Haile Sellasie’s rule. In 1953, he was the only Eritrean (black) is his batch who was studying in an Italian school. By 1959, he run errands for members of the Eritrean Liberation Movement (ELM)- Mahber Shewate- which he later joined and he participated on their initiative of forming the organization that promoted Eritrean culture and traditions. Some of the colleagues in the ELM, he worked with include Seid Beshir (Gesir), Gilay Girmai, Haile Woldemichael (Haile Gebha), Kiros Yacob (Kiros tzatze). He indicates that by 1960, members of the ELM wanted to break the monopoly of foreigners in musical bands and to mobilize the people against Ethiopian occupation and so initiated a competition on Eritrean songs through  a theater group called ‘Mahber Tewaseoo Degebat’ and Tewolde Redda’s song ‘Asmeretey’ won the first prize. But the organization was later banned by followers of the Unionist Party. Among the persons he was acquainted with in that group were Tekle Adhanom (Tekle huwket), Yohannes Gebrekidan (Gozano) and the Tigrait singer, Jabir Mahmoud. He states that the famous Eritrean Musical group, Asmara Theatrical Group, ‘Mahber Teater Asmra’  was formed in 1961 in a meeting in ‘Piazza Mikele’ in the tea shop of Idris and later of Kahsay Michael. He mentions that as he was involved with the ELM in mobilizing the members of the Police and the public and was to participate in the Police Orchestra, he did not participate in the formation of ‘Mahber Teater Asmra’  but he contributed through song writing and by giving advice. The other side of Tedla Ogbit and the Police Orchestra Girmai recalls that when Brigadier General Tedla Ogbit, the Eritrean Police Chief, fell off with the Ethiopians he planned a coup d’etat. As the ELM was recruiting members of the Police, Tedla Ogbit was approached by Berhanu Ahmeddin and Haj Imam Musa. The importance of establishing the Police Orchestra was found to be important and so Tedla Ogbit formed the Police Orchestra on December 1962 to mobilize the people against Ethiopia and Wedi Filipo was one of those recruited in the Orchestra. Among those who were recruited were also Ali Mohmed (Ya Assina), Younis Ibrahim, Negash Tekie, Mohamed Burhan Atta, Kiflom Abbay and others. He recalls that Tedla Ogbit used to come regularly to Sembel to follow up the rehearsals of the band. Among the songs that were prepared for the agitation were the following: -       Greetings from the Police Orchestra – group song-       Adaliyuni (help me find…)                  - Younis Ibrahim-       Yiaekel (enough is enough)                - group song-       Sesinu  (flourish)                                 - group songThose songs started to be aired on radio ‘Voice of Asmara’ that was owned by Cavallieri Mohamed. As the radio was broadcast through loud speakers at the grain market, ‘Idaga Ikhli’, those songs were well received by the public. On June 6, 1963, around 4 pm, while he was in a café (in front of Bar Autisti) with Martyr Ibrahim Abdulrahman and Alamin Siraj Omer, two policemen approached him  and told me to go to Sembel and deliver his police belongings to the Sembel police station. He left his friends and went to the place where he used to meet General Tedla Ogbit. Tedla told me it was his order. He told Wedi Filipo that the zero hour where the anti-Ethiopia plans would be executed was approaching and he did not want Girmai to bear any responsibility. Tedla told him if his plans failed, he was going to take responsibility for it alone. If the coup succeeded then they would meet again. When Tedla Ogbit was killed by the Ethiopians, Wedi Filipo was arrested on June 1963 and taken for interrogation at the police headquarters at AGIP. Present at his interrogation were: the new police chief who was promoted to Brigadier General after Tedla’s death, Zere Mariam Azazi; the deputy of Zere Mariam, Colonel Erdatchew, Colonel Reta Demege (who according to Wedi Filipo led the special unit who came to kill Tedla Ogbit from Addis), and Colonel Mohamed Saleh. He was accused of being involved in the Tedla Ogbit revolt. Wedi Filipo recalls clarifying that he came regularly to Tedla’s office to ask for resignation. His explanation was supported by Zere Mariam Azazi and due to that he was not arrested. He was later told to go to Addis to join a musical group. Others from the police Orchestra who were accused to be involved with Tedla Ogbit and sent to Addis were: from the singers, Ali Mohmed (Ya Assina), Younis Ibrahim, Negash Tekie, Mohamed Burhan Atta, Kiflom Abbay and from the musicians Habtemichael Gebremichael, Figadu Andemichael, Yemane Yohannes, and Alto. When they arrived at Kolfe, they were told they were under arrest. They stayed there for six months. Gradually they were allowed to go to Addis for limited hours where he was able to meet some Eritrean political activists there, among them were Tekle Gebremichael (Tekle Eisenhower) who owned a hotel and Ibrahim Suleiman who was gatekeeper of Football Club Zula and later of Red Sea (Morosso). When they were released in February 1964, he returned back to Asmara. Being aware of the role of music in political agitation, he was encouraged in 1964 by Berhanu Ahmeddin and the then music teacher (who was blind), Umberto Barboy to recruit young singers to the service of the Eritrean revolution. They used the student scout shows at Comboni, Prince Mekonen school, Itige Memen School. Among the new singers were Tekle tesfazghi, Haile Gebru and Yemane Gebermichael (Baria). To cover up his political activities and to be able to gather information and to recruit young Eritreans, he served in the Naval Base Band (there were Eritrean recruits there) as well as in the 2nd Army’s Musical Band. He also played with European musicians in Asmara and was a member of the musical band, ‘Boys’. He recalls it was difficult to be recruited to the Navy from Eritrea as one was checked thoroughly so he was advised to travel to Addis and to get recruited from as the headquarters of the navy was there. He was told to meet some Eritrean activists there who had good relations with the Commander of the Ethiopian navy then, Iskander Desta. Some of those who helped him with recruitment were Tekie Tesfay Kibrom and Biniam Kiflemariam Squar. As he was specifically recruited to form a musical band for the navy, the Massawa administration of the Navy accepted that and around March 1965, a musical band for the navy was established. He recalls that one day he was invited for lunch by Commander Mekonen Abraha (uncle of Isaias Afworki) and Commander Hailemelekot Gebrewold where he was introduced to martyr Ibrahim Affa and were since then friends. He states that his mission at the navy was to create awareness and recruit Eritreans to the national cause. The Ethiopian security used to censure all the songs and he says we used various means to distract them. They used metaphor and also used to sing famous Amharic songs during the theatrical shows. In 1971, he initiated contacts with the PLF faction that was stationed near Dekemare area and was advised to go to Italy to establish contacts based on his former links to Italians. He did as he was advised and in 1972, he was linked to former ELM members in Germany. By 1974, he realized that that EPLF was not going in the right direction and started to air his views to that effect. After liberation, 1991 he realized that the EPLF leadership harbors hidden agenda and has since been opposing the regime, actively. I hope this note will generate discussion about the role of the political activism of artists then. I hope some will contribute to add or correct information presented here. My special thanks to Jelal Yassin for facilitating contacts with Wedi Filipo. -----------------------------------------------------
This note was written on the 23rd of December 2014, Wedi Filipo passed away on the erly morning of the 24th of September 2019

Naomi Campbell named as Kenya's International Tourism Ambassador by CS Najib Balala
Tumblr media
Fate started curving her for the spotlight at the age of seven when she appeared in the music video of Bob Marley’s “Is This Love?” and later.
Campbell was born in Streatham, South London to a Jamaican-born dancer on May 22, 1970. She has never met her biological father who abandoned her mother when she was four months pregnant.
Her mother would later shape her to follow in her footsteps enrolling her to dancing classes from the time she was three-years-old till her late teen years getting her the role to tap-dance in the music video for Culture Club’s “I’ll Tumble 4 Ya” at the age of 12.
However, Campbell’s light would not be shining on the dancefloor for long.
According to Dailyfeed, In 1986 while studying at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, Campbell caught Beth Boldt’s eyes, head of a model agency that would see her appear on the cover of British Elle the same year, just before her 16th birthday.
In the years that followed, the model made her name for herself, posing for top photographers and cat walking for top-notch designers such as Gianni Versace.
In December 1987, she appeared on the cover of British Vogue, the first black cover girl since 1966. She would later be given the name supermodel in 1991, ushering her to work with Michael Jackson in the music video of his song “In The Closet”.
Despite the great success of the model who stands 5 feet 9 inches, racism was a huge impediment to her climb to glory. Through her powerful designer and model friends, she was able to keep soaring, especially when French Vogue wasn’t featuring black women.
After the end of the supermodel era in 1999, Campbell continued modelling on runways and also on print while having a keen interest in diversifying her household name into a brand.
The same year, she signed her first cosmetics contract with Cosmopolitan Cosmetics through which she launched several cosmetic signatures.
Daily feed reports that she also tried her hand in music and fiction writing both of which were not as successful as her modelling career.
In 2017 she opened her own line of fashion and beauty accessories specializing in celebrity brands.
With a net worth of Sh6.5 billion, Campbell is not only business savvy but a beauty icon and mentor to many women who want to delve into the world of modelling.
Most recently, Campbell has received the award for Fashion Icon at the Fashion Awards in December 2019.
With a name that echoes worldwide, it is not a surprise to find Naomi Campbell named as Kenya’s International Tourism Ambassador.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Tourism CS Najib Balala said that she will help promote Kenya as an ideal tourism and travel destination to the world.
Without delay, Campbell has already started pressing the rubber stamp on Kenya’s magical destinations, especially the professional Golf Association Baobab course.
“I am also impressed with the world-class standard facilities at the Professional Golf Association Baobab course located in Vipingo Ridge, the only golf course accredited by the PGA in the whole of Africa. I invite golf professionals globally to visit the course to enjoy the experience,” Naomi says.
The international model jetted in Kenya last year for the Christmas and New Year celebrations and was received in a tourist resort in Malindi.
The model has commended the country for the Malindi Airport which she says will boost tourism in the country.
At 50 years old, with skin radiating like that of a 30-year-old and with beauty identical to that of her hay days on the runway, Kenyan’s are set to know more about the model as the world will definitely know more about the country.

Kanye West expressed something along the lines of this: We’re born into a box, we grow up in a box, we work in corporate America and we sit at a desk and that’s a box. We live in a house that’s a box, we grow old in a box, and when we die we’re put in a box. The term thinking outside of the box is a cliché, but it applies. In order to grow, we have to go beyond the confines of each individual box.
Using creative methods of therapy (some would say alternative), such as music, animals, physical activity, martial arts, and many more, can yield alarmingly positive results in patients. People who are living with certain mental illnesses respond differently to different stimuli, therefore it’s important that they receive a creative approach to their treatment plan. With an integrative, holistic approach to therapy, people’s lives can be transformed.

FCS Football: Top 2021 NFL Draft Prospects to Watch
A lack of college pro days due to COVID-19 damaged the 2020 NFL Draft class out of the FCS, resulting in an all-time low six selections in late April.
Even with a number of key players jumping to the FBS as grad transfers, the FCS should have a better draft in 2021. The class is especially strong across the lines of scrimmage and at linebacker and wide receiver.
There are plenty of FCS standouts to watch throughout the 2020 season. NFL scouts are surely taking a closer look at the following list.
— Written by Craig Haley, who is part of the Athlon Contributor Network. Haley has covered the FCS level since 1999 and is the national writer for www.fcs.football. He appears frequently on radio shows and podcasts to discuss everything FCS. Follow him on Twitter @CraigHaley.

A Teenager Did not Come Dwelling. An iPhone App Led Her Mom to a Ravine.
http://tinyurl.com/yyceup7g Because the automotive carrying Catrina Cramer Alexander and her household navigated the darkish two-lane highway that snaked by way of the dense forests close to Pilot Mountain in North Carolina, the mom’s eyes have been glued to her iPhone display. It was late on June 7 and Alexander was looking for her daughter, Macy Smith, who had missed curfew and wasn’t answering her telephone. In response to the locator app on Alexander’s telephone, the 17-year-old was close by. The small pulsating blue dot that marked Alexander’s location stored shifting nearer and nearer to the place Smith was purported to be, when out of the blue, one thing caught her eye: a set of tire tracks operating off the highway. “That is all I may see,” Alexander instructed WFMY. However the app, Apple’s Find My Friends, wasn’t flawed. Smith was there. Hidden from view, about 25 toes down the aspect of a tree-covered embankment, {the teenager} had been trapped within the wreckage of her automotive for nearly seven hours – and she or he was alive. “Having that location, if we did not have that, we might have by no means recognized the place to look,” Alexander instructed WXII. “I am sure that that’s what saved her life.” Alexander and Smith couldn’t be reached for remark late Sunday. On the afternoon of June 7, Smith hopped into her white sedan and headed out to fulfill a buddy, WXII reported. By the point she reached the winding highway, it was raining closely and the pavement was slick. In a Fb put up shared the day after the crash, Smith wrote that her automotive began hydroplaning earlier than careering off the highway between two bushes and flipping thrice. When the car lastly got here to a cease within the ravine, Smith mentioned, she discovered herself within the again seat, her left arm pinned beneath the automotive and the bottom. “The primary hour, I used to be frantic,” she instructed WXII. “I used to be searching for methods to get out. I used to be considering of simply various things I may do.” She instantly began looking for her telephone, her thoughts racing with questions. What if nobody may discover her? What if she did not have telephone service? What if the telephone’s GPS locator wasn’t working? However the telephone was nowhere to be discovered and the one factor inside her attain was a Bible. “The second I laid my hand on that Bible, I knew it was God telling me that it was all in his arms and it was occurring for a motive, and that I wouldOK,” she mentioned. So, Smith waited. She lay there and watched the sky develop darker, straining to listen to something that appeared like potential rescuers. One automotive drove by her with out stopping, then two, then three. By dusk, Smith instructed WXII, 28 automobiles had come and gone. Then she heard the 29th automotive. Solely this time, it stopped. The sound of doorways opening and slamming shut have been adopted by what Smith had been ready virtually a half-day to listen to – the voices of her stepfather and brother calling out to her. “I knew they have been going to indicate up and I am so grateful for my household and we’re such a good household that I knew that I wasn’t going to be there the entire night time with out them searching for me,” Smith mentioned. Her household instantly knew one thing wasn’t proper when Smith was late coming house and calls or texts went unanswered, Alexander instructed WFMY. “The shortage of response was out of character for her,” Alexander mentioned. Utilizing the Discover My Buddies app, which permits folks to share their areas with others, Alexander mentioned, she pinpointed her daughter’s whereabouts and set off to search for her. On Fb, Smith wrote that her household discovered her round 10:30 p.m. “My daughter is in a ditch, in a ravine,” Alexander may very well be heard breathlessly saying in a recording of a 911 name printed by WFMY. For the whole time she was caught alone, Smith instructed WXII, she by no means cried. However when her stepfather reached her and the pair held arms by way of the automotive’s sunroof, {the teenager} mentioned, her feelings overwhelmed her. “I could not maintain it in anymore due to the sensation of aid and figuring out that I do not even need to be alive,” she mentioned. “It is unreal that I survived that crash.” Along with fracturing her neck within the crash, Smith sustained nerve harm to her left arm, which was caught beneath the automotive, writing that she “can not really feel it in any respect.” Images of the automotive confirmed a mangled white sedan lacking its complete entrance windshield and a number of other home windows. Alexander wrote on Fb that what occurred to her daughter was “a miracle.” “As mother and father, brothers, sisters, we won’t actually even articulate the emotions of gratefulness, of sheer awe, of overwhelming guilt, adopted by excessive pleasure and, all of the whereas, perspective . .. ” she wrote in one other put up. “It is a curler coaster of feelings that simply repeats itself that we won’t even clarify. That night time . . . we can’t ever overlook, it is burned into our reminiscences.” Alexander and Smith instructed WXII that the crash has proven them the significance of utilizing cell monitoring apps and inspired different households to do the identical. Alexander mentioned her household now makes use of the Life360 app, which has extra options than Discover My Buddies, together with crash detection, roadside help and a assist alert that immediately sends an individual’s location to their emergency contacts. “I do know it is exhausting for youngsters to surrender your privateness, however sneaking out and being locations you do not need your mother and father to find out about will not be value being trapped below a automotive for seven hours,” Smith instructed ABC Information. © The Washington Submit 2019 Source link

Biblical Studies Carnival 156 February 2019
Welcome to the 156th Biblical Studies Carnival February 2019 - The Lego Edition
TNK/OT
Posts this month heralded a new English translation of the Old Testament announced by the Jewish Telegraphic Society some months ago and in Carnival 153.
Deane Galbraith of Remnants of Giants notes Two New Misprinted Bibles.
when the authorities became aware of the error, most copies of the Wicked Bible were destroyed. Only a few copies survived, and these have become valuable collectors’ items.
Several reviewers from the Jewish Review of Books held a symposium on the Alter translation.
Alter’s Hebrew Bible is the only single-author translation by someone who has spent a lifetime studying literary artistry in both Hebrew and English. This is not to say that it is, or could be, beyond criticism.
Robert Alter wrote a short introduction in Ancient Near East Today.
The first might be described as strictly literary, which is to say, an attempt to find workable English equivalents for the cadences, the expressive syntax, the sound play, the thematic shaping of narrative through strategic word choice, and much else in the Hebrew. The other impetus is an effort to render faithfully the semantic force of the Hebrew words.
The apogee of classical form, all of them with shield and helmet (Ezekiel 38:5)
Bob MacDonald (your host) reviewed the reviewers in a series of posts: Has translation of the Bible into English reached its apogee?
Discussion of Alter's translations are not new in the blogosphere. Here is an early mention in the archives of the NY Times from 1996.
Also a post estimating how long it takes to translate the First Testament.
Goldingay reports that translating the First Testament consumed an hour of his time daily for five years. (7 days a week?) That would be 7*50*5 = 1750 hours. ... My estimate of what pace I could keep by the end of the project was 10 verses per hour. That would be 2,320 hours. From June 2015, I scheduled 4 hours a day 5 days a week 45 weeks of the year = 900 hours a year or about 3150 hours to November 2018.
James Davila posts about an article and responses on Alter's Bible.
To call it the best solo English Bible is, given the competition, not saying much. But one is also tempted to call it the best modern English Bible, period—a judgment with which Alter appears to agree.
Goldingay's First Testament is reviewed here.
The section titles in the FT are fantastic and funny, creative and clever. For example, “How David acquired his grandfather” for Ruth 4:11-22; “How to be the bad guy” for 2 Kings 21:1-12; “Let me tell you a story” for Proverbs 7:1-20. ...the FT forces me to think creatively about how to communicate biblical terms in ways people can more easily comprehend.
Sarah O'Connor via Marg Mowczko on Numbers 5:11ff.
In a world dominated by men, where a man’s honor was often valued above a woman’s life, the Bible stands out in its protection of women. Remember that the next time you read Numbers. If you ever do, I mean.
Marg Mowczko on the household codes.
The so-called household codes in Ephesians chapters 5-6 and Colossians chapters 3-4 are often used to support the idea of “gender roles.” These gender roles usually boil down to “the submission of all women to male-only authority.” But these codes were not primarily about gender roles or even gender. They were about power.
Rachel Barenblatt ponders the light of the world on parashah tetzaveh.
אמּת suitable for ages 4+ includes tool set and box
The Hasidic master known as the Sfat Emet reads this verse in a beautiful way. First he notes the verse from Proverbs, "The candle of God is the soul of a human being." When we are in dark places, we light a candle to help us see.
James McGrath ponders what is in the Bible (or not) considering translation or paraphrase.
“If you oppress poor people, you insult the God who made them; but kindness shown to the poor is an act of worship.”
Via James Davila, a usage history of Goy.
... a careful tracing of “the genealogy of the goy, from the Hebrew Bible [where “Israel is one goy among many”] to the rabbis and church fathers of the second and third centuries” of the Common Era ...
And again on Ethnic and Cultural Identities in the Rabbinic Goy Discourse.
...the authors offer a most insightful analysis of Paul’s motivations, arguing that the creation of a new model of equal membership of Jews and others within the ekklesia required a new binary language, which would obliterate any particular ethnic identities, and at the same time maintain the separate identity of the gentile qua gentile in the messianic age.
And moving on to Ki Tissa, a question raised about the legitimacy of sacrifice on Mt Carmel.
Clearly, in Elijah’s perception, Yahwistic altars such as the one that he repaired on Mount Carmel were not only legitimate, but their destruction represented an affront to YHWH, indeed a tangible expression of the people’s abandonment of their covenant with YHWH. The contrast between such a perception and the Deuteronomic law reflected in the Book of Kings itself that proscribes sacrificial worship outside of the Jerusalem temple could hardly be greater!
Rachel Adelman writes on atoning for the golden calf with the Kapporet.
Atop the kappōret, the ark’s cover, sat the golden cherubim, which framed the empty space (tokh) where God would speak with Moses. Drawing on the connection between the word kappōret and the root כ.פ.ר (“atone”), and noting how the golden calf episode interrupts the Tabernacle account, the rabbis suggest that the ark cover served as a means of atoning for the Israelites’ collective sin.
Henry Neufeld considers Hezekiah's horrible prayer.
... in 2 Kings 21 we see Manasseh, generally considered the worst king of Judah, took the throne at 12 years of age on the death of his father. His birth would have occurred in those 15 years added to Hezekiah’s life.
and follows up with a counter interpretation from Brevard Childs.
Ackroyd (“An Interpretation of the Babylonian Exile,” Studies, 157ff.) has mounted a persuasive case against interpreting it as a smug response that the judgment will not personally affect him. Rather, it is an acceptance of the divine will in which Isaiah’s form of the response (39:8) emphasizes the certainty of divine blessing at least in his lifetime.
Andrew Perriman rethinks the identity of the servant.
Philip proclaims the crucified and resurrected Jesus as Israel’s Lord and Christ, no doubt drawing out the theological significance of the extraordinary turn of events through the analogy with—but not identification with—Isaiah’s portrayal of Israel as a suffering servant.
And he has a follow-up here.
as things stand, we have to reckon, both historically and canonically, with its current location. It’s an integral part of the story of the exile and the return from exile.
Deane Galbraith argues against the class prejudice of scholars about Tobit.
The class characteristics of the Tobit family are frequently missed by commentators, despite many indications of their wealth and status.
New and Old together
NT Julia Blum relates issues about Sabbath observance in Matthew.
The gospels are the only first century source that we have, where healing is permitted and performed on Shabbat. Jesus advocates – perhaps even establishes – the same approach that later, slightly modified, will become normative in Rabbinic Judaism.
Also on the parables.
For instance, we find a parable similar to Jesus’ Parable of the Lost Coin in a Jewish commentary on the Song of Songs—Song of Songs Rabbah. Remarkably, here the parable itself is likened to the Lost Coin. “The matter is like a king who lost a coin or a precious pearl in his house. He will find it by the light of a penny-worth wick. Likewise, do not let the parable appear of little worth to you: through the parable, a man can stand on the words of Torah.
Via Brian Small on FB, Report of a symposium on Hays Echos. Response by Rafael Rodriquez, and reply from Richard Hays (more to come in March).
[T]his is a book that offers an account of the narrative representation of Israel, Jesus, and the church in the canonical Gospels, with particular attention to the ways in which the four Evangelists reread Israel’s Scripture—as well as the ways in which Israel’s Scripture prefigures and illuminates the central character in the Gospel stories.
Second response by Eric Barreto and reply from Hays.
...the significance of the New Testament is not to be found on a single literary or historical layer; instead, the Gospels and Paul alike are palimpsests of interpretive activity.
Who will go up for us?
... the chief point of coherence that lies at the center of my [Hays] argument: namely, the christological coherence of the Gospel narratives, all four of which in their distinctive ways proclaim the identity of Jesus as the definitive embodiment of Israel’s God. This was a deeply scandalous claim within the world of ancient Judaism, and it is a point on which the four Gospels converge and agree.
The third tangential response is also available, the fourth still to come in April. A technical note on pre-existence from Larry Hurtado.
final things are first things ... it was a short (but remarkable) step from belief in Jesus’ eschatological significance to belief in his pre-existence, and likely required very little time to make that step.
He also examines the Christological idea that Jesus was considered angelic noting much detail on the last 120 years of thinking on this subject.
The simple fact is that earliest Jesus-followers had a rich body of angel-speculations available to them and were convinced of the reality of angels, but they never referred to Jesus as an angel (to judge from the NT texts).
Ian Paul asks about sexual boundaries and gospel freedom.
Instead of questioning the meaning of scriptural passages, the bishop appeals to ‘other sources of authority such as reason, scientific evidence and in serious dialogue with other disciplines’. This is not crude rationalistic liberalism, however, as an important step in his argument is that he sets out a biblical justification as to why scripture itself mandates us to go beyond it.
Ian also writes on the miraculous catch of fish (lectionary for February 5th).
We will see the metaphorical boat of the early church filled almost to sinking throughout Acts, as on several occasions thousands come to faith in Jesus at a time, and the structural nets of leadership need expanding and reconsidering, not least when the ‘gentile mission’ takes off under Paul’s ministry.
Bosco Peters has an opinion on these fishy tales too.
In last Sunday’s Gospel reading (Luke 5:1-11), fish were perfectly happy, swimming their happy fishy life, and then they are caught in half-cleaned nets, dragged to the shore and left, dead and dying, on abandoned boats in the late afternoon heat. And Jesus seems to say: “follow me – what we did to those fish, that’s what we are going to do to people”!
Airtonyo points to a chapter of Class Struggle in the New Testament available online.
It is not uncommon to find unchecked entrepreneurial assumptions influencing the interpretation of the New Testament world, not only in the popular press but even within the discourse of biblical studies. ... the retrojection of entrepreneurialism demonstrates just how totalizing neoliberal capitalism has become as an implicit hermeneutical frame—a way of seeing and structuring the entire world—in every field and period of human knowledge.
Phillip Long continues his posts on the New Testament, with daily sequential posts on The Acts of the Apostles, e.g. Gamaliel:
Gamaliel urges careful deliberation before acting. ... Why does Gamaliel give this advice to the Council? Is this, as Dunn says, simply “shrewd politics”? Or is there more to this story?
What were they praying for when Peter appeared?
... if they were praying for his release, then their response to Peter’s escape from prison is unusual.
and Herod Agrippa (I)
Agrippa is therefore demonstrating his piousness by pursuing the leaders of the Christian community.
Via FB, James McGrath points out a Zondervan online course with an introduction to Who wrote the Book of Acts.
Together with the Gospel of Luke and the Letter to the Hebrews, the book of Acts contains some of the most cultured Greek writing in the New Testament. On the other hand, roughness of Greek style turns up where Luke appears to be following Semitic sources or imitating the Septuagint.
Wayne Coppins ponders Angelika Reichert pondering the I in Romans 7.
Consequently, it appears sensible to modify how the question is posed, i.e. instead of the question of the meaning of the positive statements about the “I”, to place the question of their function in the flow of vv. 14-23 in the foreground.
James Tabor has a two part post on the 6 greatest ideas in the writings of Paul.
Helmet, repaired in the very place of its failure in its classical form
/from part 1/... putting “justification by faith” at the center of Paul’s thought throws everything off balance. ... the New Testament gospels are essentially Pauline documents, with underlying elements of the earlier Jesus tradition. .../from part 2/  he, as a Suffering Servant, along with Christ, would also pour out his blood as an offering, and thus “fill up what is lacking in Christ’s suffering”
Ken Schenck has posted a 10 part series on Leadership beginning with Corinth.
At some point around AD49, a Christian couple arrived at the city of Corinth named Priscilla and Aquila. I put the wife's name first because the New Testament typically puts her name first when it is referring to their ministry together. This fact suggests that she generally took the lead in ministry between the two.
Christopher Scott explores soteriology.
For an entire semester we talked about elements of salvation, biblical views on what it means to be saved, historical interpretations of salvation, as well as people that have tried to make salvation something other than what the Bible describes it as.
Airtonyo quotes Moltmann on fundamentalism
O documento divino da revelação não pode estar sujeito à interpretação humana mas, ao contrário, a interpretação humana deve estar sujeita ao documento divino da revelação.
Claude Mariottini posts his fifth study on the explore God Chicago 2019 series. "Is Jesus really God?"
... the writers of the New Testament, as they tried to identify the one who died on the cross and the one who overcame the grave, concluded that the one whom they called “the Christ,” was fully human and fully God.
Larry Hurtado notes the usage of the phrase son of God in early Christian writings.
So, it’s clear that the NT authors vary in their use of the expression “son of God”, with no clear pattern readily apparent to me. The authors of GJohn and 1 John easily out-distance other NT texts in usage of the phrase, and in the confessional significance attached to it.
James McGrath posts on the doctrine of personal infallibility citing Lars Cade.
Many Christians think something like this: “The Bible is True. I believe the Bible. Therefore, everything I believe is true.” This also applies to the morality of actions they may take or motives they may have (see: defending the separation of families by quoting Romans 13). With such a mentality, it simply does not occur to people that they may be wrong.
Peter Gurry examines the textual problems with Hebrews 11:11.
Thus, in one single verse, we must judge between ‘longer’ and ‘shorter’ texts, and not make a fetish of either. There is no royal road or short cut in these matters.
Other notes Via ETC via Paleojudaica among a clutch of debunkings, Is codex sinaiticus a fake? Short answer, No.
Obviously, the two sets of images were not taken to the level of precision that Daniels’ theory needs. If they were, we would see no difference in colour at all, because those two versions of yellow that you see in this image are the exact same colour in real life.
Also via James Davila, Dating Biblical Texts to the Persian Period.
By grappling with these questions, the essays in this volume evince a greater degree of precision vis-a-vis dating and historical context.
James McGrath interviews Pete Enns about his book How the Bible actually works. Larry Hurtado points out two new books from Jörg Frey,
One of the most productive NT scholars today is Professor Jörg Frey (University of Zurich), and so it is very good news to have a couple of his major works now available in English.
and on the marginalia review of books, has a review of Paula Fredriksen’s When Christians were Jews.
I have attempted to reimagine the stages by which the earliest Jesus-community would have first come together again, after the crucifixion. To understand how and why, despite the difficulties, these first followers of Jesus would have resettled in Jerusalem. To reconstruct the steps by which they became in some sense the center of a movement that was already fracturing bitterly within two decades of its founder’s death. To see how the seriatim waves of expectation, disappointment, and fresh interpretation would have sustained this astonishing assembly in the long decades framed by Pilate’s troops in 30 and Titus’s in 70.
Phillip Long reviews Douglas Mangum and Josh Westbury, eds. Linguistics & Biblical Exegesis
The second volume of the Lexham Methods series surveys the often difficult field of linguistics. Since the essays in this volume are all aimed at students who are doing exegesis of the whole Bible, examples are given for both the Old and New Testaments.
Amy Erikson reviews the five scrolls. Table of Contents and list of authors is here.
... there are contributions from six scholars working in South Africa, several from the United States, two from scholars based in China, and two based in Australia. ... The volume also contains essays by scholars from Israel, Argentina, and the Netherlands. The result is an eclectic collection of fresh readings that explores not only how a reader’s context might influence one’s reading of the text but also how the Bible might enrich a reader’s understanding of his or her context.
James Pate reviews George MacDonald in the Age of Miracles.
"Imagine Sheldon Cooper in the pulpit, only with the desire to be a poet."
James Davila points to a review by Yitz Landes of The Origins of Midrash.
for much of antiquity, including during the early rabbinic period, the Semitic root d.r.sh referred to teaching—textual or otherwise. Mandel thus overturns the consensus understanding that early uses of the root d.r.sh refer to textual interpretation, and that only later was the root expanded to encompass teaching more generally.
James Hanson reviews According to the Scriptures.
If all you know is the New Testament, you do not know the New Testament” - so the late New Testament scholar Martin Hengel is reputed to have said... Allen has done a great service by compiling a truly comprehensive bibliography on the question of the Jewish Scriptures in the New Testament, both in general and specifically in relation to Jesus’s death.
April DeConick speaks about silenced voices in religion. Kings of Israel - Todd Bolen links to a board game.
If the players are able to build enough altars before the game ends, they win. If the game ends by either the team running out of sin cubes or idols, or by Assyria destroying Israel, the prophets lose.
A conversation from Michael Langlois: Campus Protestant m’a demandé comment l’archéologie éclaire la Bible. A note on the Hebrew language from Autumn Light.
So next time you hear Murphy’s Law— If anything can go wrong—it will. remember Goldberg’s Corollary: If anything can go wrong—God forbid—it won’t.
Also from Jonathan Orr-Stav, an answer to a question about ס and פ as parashot markers.
The division into parashot is usually to indicate a contextual change, so there isn’t a consistency in the size or number of verses involved. In the case of the Ten Commandments, for example, each commandment is a parashah in its own right—presumably to underline its importance.
Jim Davila and Drew Longacre both note a new book: The Masora on Scripture and its Methods.
The ancient manuscripts of the Hebrew Bible contain thousands of Masora comments of two types: Masora Magna and Masora Prava. How does this complex defense mechanism, which contains counting of words and combinations from the Bible, work?
Again via Jim Davila, a new trilingual inscription found near the tomb of Darius the Great.
the most famous trilingual inscription from Iran is the Behistun inscription, which (rather like the Rosetta Stone for Egyptian) was key to the decipherment of Akkadian.
Via Ekaterini G. Tsalampouni an article on the pomegranate from ASOR.
The pomegranate is attested in ancient Elam during the 4th millennium BCE, and then spread to the rest of the Near East, with the original shrub (Punica protopunica L.) reaching Mesopotamia, Anatolia, Syria, and Palestine by the end of the 3rd millennium. Sumerians appear to have been involved in domestication of the pomegranate (Punica granatum L.), and the fruit quickly became an important symbol.
Call for papers for Medicine in the Bible, Warsaw 2019.
Contributors should aim at offering a comparative perspective by keeping an eye on the embeddedness of medical discourses in their surrounding cultures( ancient Babylonian, Near Eastern, Graeco-Roman, Persian, Byzantine/Syriac or early Islamicate traditions). Such a perspective will allow for assessing Jewish and Talmudic medical knowledge within a broader history of ancient knowledge cultures and helps to determine their distinct epistemologies or particular Jewishness.
Conference announcement on the New Song
the meaning of the Bible's poetry as Jewish and Christian scripture in the 21st century - the difficulties (ambiguity, genre blending/bending, figurative language), the dynamics (poetry as experience relayed and as experience relived, theological explorations of form and content, prosody and parallelism), and the effects and demands on hearers and reading communities.
Liturgy redefines liturgy. Take your pick of three definitions,
[Liturgy] was in ancient Greece a public service established by the city-state whereby its richest members (whether citizens or resident aliens), more or less voluntarily, financed the State with their personal wealth.
Kurk Gayle announces a posthumous book by Suzanne McCarthy Valiant or Virtuous? Gender Bias in Bible Translation. Ian Paul remembers Michael Green. Vimoth Ramachandra reflects on grief.
