Joan Baez – Farewell, Angelina
Joan Baez – Farewell, Angelina
USA, 1965, contemporary folk Basically, three Joan Baez albums in my collection are enough for me. Anything else gets a bit repetitive, but this, along with Joan Baez and Joan Baez, Vol. 2, is sufficient to appreciate what she’s done for the preservation of folk music. The couple Dylan covers here are sweet. https://open.spotify.com/album/0KWZmGhxNlNMOQgi4LPWun

It’s All Over Now Babe Blue - Vol.II
You must leave now, take what you need, you think will last. But whatever you wish to keep, you better grab it fast.
Yonder stands your orphan with his gun, Crying like a fire in the sun. Look out the saints are comin’ through And it’s all over now, Baby Blue.
All your seasick sailors, they are rowing home. All your reindeer armies, are all going home.
The lover who just walked out your door Has taken all his blankets from the floor. The carpet, too, is moving under you And it’s all over now, Baby Blue. (Instrumental)
Leave your stepping stones behind, something calls for you. Forget the dead you’ve left, they will not follow you. The vagabond who’s rapping at your door Is standing in the clothes that you once wore.
Strike another match, go start anew And it’s all over now, Baby Blue It’s all over now, Baby Blue Aha it’s all over now, Baby Blue. Baby, Baby goodbye Baby bye bye Bye bye Baby goodbye Baby blue Goodbye Baby blue It’s all over now Goodbye Baby, so long honey

Joan Baez
(1941, Staten Island, New York, USA)
2. here But For Fortune (Joan Baez 5 1964) C’è questa ballata dolcissima e commovente su come il caso offra a ognuno opportunità diverse, ed emargini o spedisca in Vietnam persone che avrebbero potuto avere sorti meravigliose: "show me a hobo who sleeps out in the rain, and I’ll show you a young man with so many reasons why".
7. Here’s To You (Sacco And Vanzetti, 1971) Nicola Sacco e Bartolomeo Vanzetti erano due anarchici italiani emigrati negli Stati Uniti, condannati a morte e uccisi nel 1927 per rapina e omicidio. Joan Baez cantò per il film "here’s to you, Nicola and Bart, rest forever here in our hearts…".
8. Love Song To A Stranger (Come From The Shadows, 1972) Una ballata appassionata e grata per quello che anche due soli giorni d’amore con uno sconosciuto possono regalare a una vita di guai.

Album Number Forty-Five “Farewell, Angelina” is the sixth album by American folk singer Joan Baez, released in late 1965. It peaked at #10 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart. My copy is another Vanguard Stereolab release on the final design, the yellow marbled label, used from 1973 until their final year, 1986 - VSD-79200. The album represented a further shift from the strictly traditional folk music with which #joanbaez had begun her career in that, for the first time, she included electric backup in the form of #brucelanghorne ‘s electric guitar. Additional musicians included #russsavakus (bass) and #ralphrinzler (mandolin). The album takes its name from a #bobdylan song, and includes a total of four Dylan songs, two of which were not officially released by Dylan until 1991. The album also features songs written by other folk singers such as #woodyguthrie and #peteseeger , as well a German reading of "Where Have All the Flowers Gone". #rockandroll #folkrock #thesixties #vanguardrecords #folkmusic https://www.instagram.com/p/CP-85AXrnDx/?utm_medium=tumblr

“Farewell, Angelina” by Bob Dylan
See the cross-eyed pirates sitting perched in the sun Shooting tin cans with a sawed-off shotgun And the neighbors they clap and they cheer with each blast But farewell, Angelina, the sky's changing color and I must leave fast
