Here's to my JOY!

The best way to create your joy is to create new memories! What better place than at Sky Zone?!

The electricity has been out due to an ice storm (total of 5 days), so I figured we should have some fun! Then of course we enjoyed some yummy Taco Bell which I hadn't had in a long time. I can say that we all took FULL advantage of the free refills. HA!

We would usually hit the drive-thru of a restaurant and go home but I am being intentional about everything these days. That means sitting down in public settings, practicing our patience and manners, and truly enjoying the moment.

I was always so worried about what others would think if someone had a meltdown, was a bit too loud, or maybe asked a stranger TOO many questions. *SIGH* Kids will be kids and as long as everyone is exercising their boundaries, I think we'll be just fine.

Actually, it was great! I'm looking forward to exposing my children to more public outings and creating new experiences that help us have fun and bond together.

I am truly blessed.

Beautiful Experience in Siargao Island.

Have you ever been in love?

I know it’s a cliché question to ask. Falling in love makes you feel high and euphoric. Sometimes, facing the person you are attracted to makes your heart thud in your chest and the rest of your body go haywire. Scientifically speaking, certain hormones are released when you are attracted to someone. These hormones are oxytocin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. High levels of dopamine and norepinephrine in our body make us feel giddy, energetic, and euphoric. Now, imagine yourself lying on the sand, watching the sea birds fly, or hearing the waves as it crashes on the beach. Imagine yourself feeling the salty wind and the scorching sun as it touches your bare skin. Or transport yourself to the majestic view of the rock formations covered in earthy green moss, the still mangroves, and the tall coconut trees. What would it be like to ride the waves as you surf, to freely navigate yourself while kayaking, or to feel reckless while cliff-diving? Being in love is like being on the beach, in the ocean. Every moment is a thrill, a joyous exploration of something new, refreshing, and exciting. I experienced that first-hand during our vacation slash island hopping in Surigao, Mindanao Philippines. Last 2019, my family decided to have a three-day vacation to Surigao. We rented three vans for the entire family. We started our journey from our home in Kidapawan, North Cotabato and it took us about seven hours to reach our first destination which is in Enchanted River Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur.

The Enchanted River is breathtaking. It is a deep spring river flowing into the Philippine Sea and is considered sacred by the people living in the area. Exactly like the pictures on the internet, it is magically clear, blue, and cold. I chose not to swim because it felt freezingly cold at that time. Keep in mind, that the local government has already prohibited swimming in the main pool for perseveration. But you can swim in the river. Some ropes indicate the designated swimming area, where it is safe to swim. The area is around 33 feet (10 meters) away from the pool. Also, there are no close buildings to buy food and medicine hence it would be ideal for you to bring your food and secure your medicines before going there. However, there are vendors on the side selling affordable gifts and memorabilia.

Our next stop was Surigao City. Surigao City, the capital city of Surigao Del Norte is geographically located in the Northeast portion of Mindanao. It is bounded by Dinagat Island on the north, Hinatuan Passage on the East, the mainland of Surigao Del Norte on the south, and Surigao Strait on the west. Surigao City is popularly known as the city of Island Adventures and is considered one of the best places to visit when you’re looking for a haven of leisure and adventure. It has 17 panoramic islands with long stretches of pristine white sand beaches, magical caves, expansive mangrove forests, and underwater explorations.

Afterward, we rented a boat to Sohoton Island. On Sohoton Island, we rented several rooms for the entire family where we stayed for two nights. We tried their slides, we did snorkeling, and kayaking. They also have a videoke where you can sing all night. We explored the Crystal Cave where we saw the stalactites and stalagmites covered with crystals. Aside from that, we tried swimming with the non-sting brown-colored jellyfish on the blue lagoon. Since we feel too adventurous at that time, we also satisfied ourselves with cliff diving and springboard diving until we get tired. Surigao is indeed enchanting. Once, you see the beauty of it, you’ll be captivated and lured not to go home anymore. The locals are also very nice and friendly. They would answer whatever questions you ask about their way of living, culture, and history.

Going back to the question, have you ever been in love? If the answer is no, then Surigao is the place for you. Surely, you can feel that high and euphoric feeling once you see this majestic piece of heaven.

Girls' night out with the Volders ladies - Saturday 17th June 2023

At John Volder's , dad's birthday, the female Volders cousins all got together and decided we were due for a catch up so I organised dinner and karaoke with the girls. The girls that came were Casey, Emma, Sarah, Claire, Blair and me.

The night started Hutong where we had dinner and a few drinks. After dinner we headed to the karaoke bar at Bosa bar. The girls loved karaoke and wanted to stay but we could extend our time there. We had more drinks and played Jinga. We made our way to Electric Bar for a bit of a dance. We danced the night away. The place played house music. We met a group of girls who was celebrating a birthday offered drinks all night. I also bumped into Matt's friend/ex boss there.

Overall, it was a very fun night. They want to do it again with the boys next time. It looks like another event for me to organise.
