oh no, no, nonononononono you don’t get to retcon the first series basically being an all white cast because now you’ve realized it’s Not A Great Look by blaming publishing standards and pretending that annabeth is presented as anything other than a blonde white girl in the text or any of the marketing material ever.

you wrote her as white! you wrote all the main characters as white and made it very clear when the secondary characters weren’t! it’s fine to admit you just had a blind spot and self-corrected with HoO and the other series!!! you don’t get to go back and retroactively collect diversity points by pretending annabeth is in any way presented as racially ambiguous in the text now that you’ve decided to make a tv show!!!! gaaaaaaaaahhhhhh

Fiona and Cake spoilers seriously

(Something I noticed abt Betty and Simons relationship)

I love Betty and Simon’s relationship, I think their back story is so cute and romantic and all that lovely stuff don’t get me wrong.

But there’s this under tone of Betty constantly giving things up for Simon and we don’t really talk about it a lot???

Like, Betty let Simon have his moment with the artifact and the pubic, she also doesn’t go to her trip in favor of going on an expedition with Simon. Then when she goes to leave again she stays for Simon.

Even Fiona is like “you went with her on the bus?” And Simon just looks all confused like “what? No, why would I do that?” Like- hello???

Then after that she gave up her entire life and mind to get Simon back to the point where she literally says “I don’t know who I am without him anymore.” And that just sucks! Since the beginning Betty has been the one giving up the most, her mind, her own possible career, and it’s a story of love of course and it’s very sweet but it’s also a story of sacrifice.

Their love wasn’t a perfect solution, it was already sort of imbalanced when it started and I lowkey love how we see those cracks even before they’re together.

Again, I love their relationship and I think it’s sweet. I just think we should talk about Betty’s side more, especially when she tells a story of what most women do in relationships, sacrifice.

#fiona and cake spoilers #fiona and cake #simon petrikov #betty grof #It made itself really apparent in these newest episodes and I couldn’t stop thinking abt it #like Betty idolized Simon before they formally met so of course she was gonna drop everything to go on that expedition with him #but it was more after that too like she was going to leave to study in Australia but Simon stopped her #and Betty’s a grown woman she can make her own decisions #but even Betty’s friend was like ‘don’t make her miss the bus!’ because Betty had a real opportunity to do something else #and maybe It’s that true love trumps all or what ever but the way they frame it in the show feels weird to me #like Why have Fiona ask if Simon got on the bus with Betty if it wasn’t important??? #the way Simon responds feels weird too he responds like Fiona doesn’t make sense when asking that question #BUT ITS VALID Like why wouldn’t you encourage Betty to go off and maybe start her own career?? #or just go with her?? like she gave up stuff to go on your exhibition why wouldn’t you return the favor??? #and obviously Simon doesn’t do this on purpose I’m not saying he did #he didn’t guilt trip or force Betty or even ask her to give up these things to be with him Betty did all that on her own #i think it’s just interesting the way the show frames their relationship #like Betty gives up a lot to be with Simon in Fiona and Cake and in adventure time too #but she idolizes Simon and after Simon becomes IK she’s chasing after the man he used to be #meanwhile everyone learns to live with who IK is now it was just Betty who was clinging to Simon the whole way through #obviously they love each other and respect each other but I think Betty idolizing Simon didn’t just stay when they were kids #or college students or what ever it keto’s going even when the world ended and Simon became Ice King #this is was so much more than I planned on writing-

has even a chance of getting money out of it

#and also is not almost certainly a scam #like the one that i spent this morning looking into #yes i'd love to have my art published in a coffee table art book #quick question tho. are you going to pay me for it #my school has a lot of opportunities for low stakes art competitions and exhibitions but most of them either don't have a monetary prize #or are so low-stakes and casual that I don't think I could really use it as an example of my art being Recognized if i won #or both #art student things #stars rambles

FUcking Big but #definitely the biggest job i have had so far size and paycheck wise dhglkdhfgl #i wouldn't call it weird exactly but i'm at an interesting place in my career as an artist bc i feel as if i should have found a specialty #by now. and by no means is it a bad thing that i haven't bc i love working on a huge variety of projects and i learn a lot from all of them #but for me it's like #i'm a freelance illustrator. i'm an art teacher. i do public art. i run an online shop. i do comics in my free time. every now and again i #exhibit in physical galleries #i do digital art but i'm also a traditional artist #'mintt why are you like this' i'm insane and i don't realize it until i write out everything i do like. oh. huh. #i don't mind doing any and all of that it's fun and there is an inherent cohesion to my work regardless bc i made it #but a lot of the artists i follow. especially the handful of professional artists i know irl do like. one or two of those things bc that's #their specialty. and idk if i have that career specialty yet. i Certainly have my specialties irt subjects #i think there's something to be said though about me seeking out more local opportunities than anything bc i don't feel like i quite have #the portfolio yet to be really noticed when applying for Big Things out of state and whatnot #at least with my more traditional work digital stuff is different #i am thoroughly rambling now sdhgklhflg

Recently, I've thought about how Chaku could be brought on more adventures than before nowadays (like the good ol' days!) He's a little Ethereal mutant fella, truthfully. He's more resilient than he looks!

However...

I also think about how Sal may actually debate bringing him along because he too can spook around and is a cat, prone to cat behavior.

Of course, I've decided she'll bring him along some more even still... It makes things more fun that way, trust me.~ 💙

Some pictures I got at the Western Edge exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame

They haven’t finished installing the exhibit yet (I think Michael Nesmith’s suit, The Hat™, and a few other pieces are still on display at the Troubadour for the remainder of the year). I have more in my camera roll, but I had to post Gram’s iconic white suit (plus Sneaky Pete & Chris’ suits) and his International Submarine Band era jacket. It was such a good exhibit and my poor friend had to listen to me tell every bit of history and fun fact I had because this era and niche of music has been my special interest for years. I also actually accidentally started leading a tour through the exhibit because a few older people started following to listen to all my history rants lol.

Modern AU because I need them to be silly

The only show Swk ever watches is Lego Monkie Kid, and he will not watch it alone— no, he will drag SP by the scruff of his neck if he has to and make him binge watch the entire series with him for the 3rd time this week (and it’s only Wednesday). If you told Swk that his house was burning down, with SP locked in the bathroom, and he could only save one thing, he would not hesitate to go for his MK Lego collection. His favourite character is Macaque. They are literally that one meme “Ah yes. Me, my boyfriend, and the 3 Macaque plushies he sleeps with every day”. He has every piece of merch ever released.

And yknow how Macaque and Sun Wukong are one of the most popular ships for LMK ? And Swk just happens to be a huge Shadowpeach shipper ? Yeah I think it would be really funny if, when no one is around, SP just kinda .. glares at the Macaque plush that Swk tucked into bed before he left for work and knocks it off. He’ll also put the little Macaque lego away from Sun Wukong because Swk left them holding hands.

Thing is, Swk Knows. He Knows and he’ll intentionally make the two characters be close whenever he has the opportunity, just so he can return home and giggle when he see them separated, being very certain it was SP’s doing.

Jealousy of inanimate objects and characters runs in the family because Yjh suffers from the same disease when it comes to Kdj’s protagonists. Get well soon, please pray for them.
