The Future of Ominis Gaunt

Don’t worry, this is just the beginning of my head canons for Ominis, I already have a couple of ideas for a story with him and his daughter that I will eventually write

Ominis took a few years to try and figure out who he was and make a path for himself that was not his family’s idea. He strove to protect muggles from being caught in the crossfire of dark wizard gangs and worked to keep the peace between both muggles and wizards.

He met the woman who would become his wife in 1906 who was the daughter of a muggle woman and half blood wizard, but was mostly raised by her mother. She was an actress and took part in many re-enactments of Shakespearean plays, all of which she had read at least once.

Evangeline was said to be one of the most beautiful people around, however after being caught in the middle of a duel between two dark wizard gangs, she got a scar on her face. However Ominis did not care what she looked like as she had a similar view to dark wizards and justice as he did and constantly said she looked perfect

In 1916, Ominis and Evangeline welcomed their only child, a daughter whom they named Gilda Noctua Elysian. The first name was chosen by Evangeline who believed that Gilda was the gold in her life, while the middle name was chosen by Ominis who wanted to honor his deceased aunt.

His daughter would go on to fall in love and marry, Thomas, a classmate of hers from her school days, a magica historian, and the son of one of Ominis’ closest friends, Phineas Hearst. He was pleased with the match and knew Thomas would take great care of his daughter.

The fact that Ominis was a Gaunt was an open secret amongst the family that eventually faded as the generations went on as it was very rarely mentioned verbally. In fact, after marrying into the Elysian family, he was always treated as if he was always a member.

In the 1940s Ominis and Evangeline would become grandparents to Joseph and Elijah Hearst. The former was sorted into Slytherin and became an auror who fought in both wizarding wars, while the latter was sorted into Ravenclaw and followed in the footsteps in becoming a magical historian after Hogwarts.

In 1953, he, along with Sebastian Sallow, attended the funeral of his friend, Phineas Hearst, after his sudden and unexpected death. In particular, Ominis comforted his son-in-law and grandsons following the loss. And would continue to tell fond stories of his adventures with Phineas.

Ominis lived long enough to meet his first great grandchild, Tobias Hearst, in 1968 before passing away peacefully the following year at the age of 88. In addition, Tobias was given the middle name of Ominis to honor his great grandfather’s legacy, in total, he would have six great grandchildren

BIOGRAPHY

Evanora “Nora” Bloodworth is the youngest, and currently, only daughter of the Bloodworths. Her mother and father were Death Eaters in their day, but they had fled the cause out of fear and instead settled down and had three children- two girls and one boy.

When she was younger, her parents did their best to hide their connection to the Death Eaters. But, her eldest sibling, Evangeline, and her had found out the truth about their parents one day when playing in the attic where they stumbled upon an enchanted chest.

Upon discovering the chest, Evangeline asked Evanora to go fetch their brother, Elysian, to come and help them try to disenchant and unlock it. Young Evanora did as she was told and explained to her brother the situation and returned a few moments later with him.

It didn’t take long for the three to crack the code and they were able to search through the chest’s contents. They found photographs of their parents with the Death Eaters, their tattoos visible for all to see. The three were shocked that they weren’t told about this sooner and continued their search through the truck. It was when her sister found a small ornamental box that true tragedy struck.

Evangeline had opened the box to peer inside when her whole body broke out into a fit of convulsions, foaming at the mouth, her eyes rolling back. It lasted all of ten seconds, then she was limp. Horrified, Evanora and her brother ran to their parents and told them everything that had happened, demanding the truth immediately afterwords as they all headed back to the attic to tend to Evangeline.

Apparently, the box had been cursed and there was nothing they could do to save Evangeline. She was dead. Only 11 years old, expecting her Hogwarts letter any day, always rubbing it in her younger siblings’ faces that she’d get to experience it before either of them. Now she’d never get to do that.

After being told the entire truth about their parents past, Evanora broke out in a fit of rage, stating that they were cowards for running away and that perhaps if they had stayed and fought like brave, loyal soldiers, then they wouldn’t have needed to hide their past away, and her sister would still be alive. Though still two years away before her time at Hogwarts, she vowed to not be as much of a coward as her parents were and that she would join the Death Eaters herself.

Headcanon: Being cut off from the Gaunt family and disillusioned with the prejudiced high-class wealthy lifestyle of elite Pure-bloods, Ominis acknowledges but ignores the possible social stigma about marrying and taking the wife's last name instead of vice versa as tradition, he just wants the peace, freedom and independence from his past with his true family that cares and respects him, blood related or not.

I love this head canon!

I also want to add to it with a few more details about Ominis’ wife, Evangeline as she is a half blood however was mostly raised by her muggle mother as her father left her and her family when she was young and never came back. Evangeline also gets a bad scar across her face which some said diminished her natural beauty, but Ominis assured her she was just as perfect as she was before. As such, it also shows that Ominis was simply satisfied and happy with the people around him.
