Tumblr media
Name: Eliza Hardy
Alises: Blue imp, Liza.
Age: 23
Gender: Cis female
Sexuality: asexual biromantic
Birthday: June 13
Parents: Daniel Cassidy (Blue devil) and Felica Hardy (Black cat)
Appearance: Eliza has Blue skin and Green eyes, her hair is white and is in a bob cut. She has horns and fanged teeth. Her attire is mostly masc style.
Personality: A lot can be said of Eliza Hardy, but perhaps most important is that she's adventurous and smart. Of course she's also friendly, outspoken and tolerant, but those are often overshadowed by tendencies of being short-tempered as well. Her restless and disruptive nature aren't exactly fun to deal with, though more on a personal level than for others. Fortunately her dynamic nature helps keep them in check for at least a little.
Powers: Superhuman strength, superhuman agility, enhanced senses, probability manipulation, superhuman durability.
Abilities: Acrobatics, martial arts, boxing, acting.
Backstory: Born from a scandalous one night stand, Eliza was raised by her father and learns the special effect business. She and her friend Becky performs a stunt show as the blue imp and Captain Comet, She applied for the synonymous counselor position to get away from faux glitz and glamor.

Anna Eliza Hardy (1839-1934, American)
Anna Eliza was the daughter and collaborator of Jeremiah Pearson Hardy, himself a prominent portrait painter, and Catherine Sears Wheeler Hardy. She was born in Bangor, Maine, the youngest of four children and the only daughter in the family. She was especially known for her floral paintings, of which The Roses is one of the most well-known. She also taught art and guided other female painters, including Charlotte Baldwin, Grace Hemenway, Florence Jennison, Nellie Lincoln, Mary Merrill, Katherine Parker Stewart, and Emma Webb, in the art of florals. She focused her energy mostly on detailed still life paintings, but as her vision began to fail, she started to create less detailed pieces.

The LosMech wasn't a large bar. Not even by Deep Periphery standards, and the LosMech was on Deia, far from the Deep Periphery, sitting on the border between the Lyran Commonwealth and the Jade Falcon Occupation Zone. Still, it had everything a bar popular among local mercenaries really needed; a smattering of wooden tables, neon signs, half-a-dozen alcoholic drinks on tap, twice that under the varnished hardwood of the bar, four times that in the freezer, framed battle-honours or photos of famous mercs hanging on the walls, and even a jukebox in the corner. A deconstructed Pulse Laser with a cracked inner focusing lens had been donated by one of the regulars and hung over the jukebox, like a MechWarrior's mistletoe.
There were more sombre parts of the bar, too. Little painted models of BattleMechs sat in a glass display case on the far wall, mostly donated by patrons. Each one had a small memorial card with it that listed the name, birth-date, death-date, and a short anecdote about the pilot. The majority were mercenaries, but there were Lyran soldiers memorialised there, too, and Clanners. The first six, in fact, were Clanners; Tanya Indell, James Redshore, Malia Noveau, Allison Graves-Hardy, Aidan Pryde, and Vels Ustone.
It was late evening; the sun had set an hour ago, and now only stars shimmered far above the skylight. A thin murmur of conversation ran through the patrons of the LosMech, seated in twos or threes around tables. Some of them were discussing missions or contract details; others were simply idling what remained of the day away, or raising a toast to the fallen. Mariya was cleaning tables while Eliza wiped down glassware, preparing to close down for the night.
A few newer patrons glanced curiously at Mariya as she wove between tables, dark hair slipping out from behind her ears. Their curiosity was entirely understandable; after all, there were centuries of animosity and several Occupation Zones between Deia and the Draconis Combine. To make matters more confusing, she spoke with a Draconis accent, but Lyran cadence—a rare sight in the years since the Clan Invasion that had torn through the border regions.
Mariya looked up and smiled at Eliza. The bartender smiled back, light shining in her eyes.

The Woodsman (2016) is a haunting stage production...
The Woodsman is a 2016 stage production created by Edward W. Hardy and James Ortiz.
I was initially worried that this would be one of those "trying painfully hard to be grimdark" productions because a trailer opened with an announcer declaring obnoxiously, "Forget what you know about Oz," but thankfully the trailer's voiceover is misleading, and the production actually feels more invested in Oz "lore" than most modern retellings. While the production does have a dark tone at times, it feels more in the vein of Return to Oz than say, the book version of Wicked. Whereas Maguire's Wicked sometimes ventured into, shall we say, grunge for the sake of grunge or even stripping away the unsettling elements of Oz to make its version of Oz more mundane, the darker elements of this production are much more, "What if we expanded on Nick Chopper's origin story and crafted a tragic love story?" I guess I'm more forgiving of "darker retellings of Oz" if they actually seem to care about Oz, and this production seems to care a lot.
What I mean is, in Maguire, Oz could kind of be any generic dystopia with a few fantasy trappings. Whereas, in this production, the fantasy elements and Baum elements are deliberately woven into the dystopic atmosphere of Munchkinland under the Witch. And it doesn't feel like "we're taking Oz and making it a dystopia," it feels like "we're trying to build off what is already there, and if it feels dark at times, that's not because we're trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. It's because a story of thwarted love has inherently tragic qualities to it."
Speaking of the Witch, she is a magnificently contrived puppet that moves with this loping menace and the scenes between her and Nimmie Amee are devastating, and one of the most interesting aspects of the show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The play is largely silent, save for an opening narration setting the scene. The justification for this is under the Witch of the East's rule, "words became dangerous." It allows for some incredibly poignant pantomime on the part of the actors. Nick has big himbo energy. He's adorable.
Tumblr media
We even see Nick's parents in this version and they are deeply endearing. The silent sequences of Nick learning to chop wood from his dad are sweet. But it's Eliza Simpson, as Nimmee, who really shines. She conveys a great deal with her eyes, learning ways to survive under the eyes of the Witch. Another interesting aspect of this production is they make her the daughter of a sorcerer, and by the end, she's found means to put her own skill in magic to work in standing up to the Witch. The production gets to play around with the "no one ever dies in Oz, except when they totally do" lack of continuity in Baum by having Nimmee breathe life into the Nick after his meat body has been lost.
And again, God, her eyes...
Tumblr media
I do have certain reservations. Like, making the catalyst for Nimmee fully coming into her own against the Witch be sparked by her romance with Nick feels... Well, it works for the production's romance angle, I suppose. I'd love to see where this version of Nimmee Amee goes from here, and I'd love to see her rebuild her life, Chopfyt-style, even if Fyter doesn't come into play in this production.
One moment I want to highlight is the first time Nick gets a limb replaced, and you see Nimmee's reaction to the tin arm and we see the tin arm wrap around her in an embrace. It's a very touching moment, and the puppetwork, done in motion with the actor's performance as he pantomimes a missing arm, is done in a really cool and heartbreaking way.
So, reservations aside, I'd still recommend it. It's a fascinating piece, and you can find it on BroadwayHD through Amazon right now, in the US, at least.

One of the most original time-travel thrillers since 12 Monkeys. A brilliant subversion of the Time Paradox trope, with enough plot twists to keep you entertained until well after the movie is finished. Predestination is an amazing movie with great performances from Ethan Hawke and Sarah Snook. It’s a movie that will feel like Inception, when it comes to messing with your mind and barely anyone has heard of it. It is highly underrated and unknown, sadly.
4. Train to Busan (2016)
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Horror, Science Fiction, Thriller
Actor: Ahn So-hee, An So-hee, Baek Seung-hwan, Cha Chung-hwa, Chang-hwan Kim, Choi Gwi-hwa, Choi Woo-shik, Choi Woo-sung, Dong-seok Ma, Eui-sung Kim, Gong Yoo, Han Ji-eun, Han Sung-soo, Jang Hyuk-jin, Jeong Seok-yong, Jung Seok-yong, Jung Young-ki, Jung Yu-mi, Kim Chang-hwan, Kim Eui-sung, Kim Jae-rok, Kim Joo-heon, Kim Ju-hun, Kim Keum-soon, Kim Soo-ahn, Kim Soo-an, Kim Su-an, Kim Won-Jin, Lee Joo-sil, Lee Joong-ok, Ma Dong-seok, Park Myung-shin, Sang-ho Yeon, Seok-yong Jeong, Shim Eun-kyung, Sohee, Soo-an Kim, Soo-jung Ye, Terri Doty, Woo Do-im, Woo-sik Choi, Ye Soo-jung, Yeon Sang-ho, Yoo Gong, Yu-mi Jeong, Yu-mi Jung

A zombie virus breaks out and catches up with a father as he is taking his daughter from Seoul to Busan, South Korea’s second-largest city. Watch them trying to survive to reach their destination, a purported safe zone.
The acting is spot-on; the set pieces are particularly well choreographed. You’ll care about the characters. You’ll feel for the father as he struggles to keep his humanity in the bleakest of scenarios.
It’s a refreshingly thrilling disaster movie, a perfect specimen of the genre.
3. Serenity (2005)
Genre: Action, Adventure, Science Fiction, Thriller
Actor: Adam Baldwin, Alan Tudyk, Carrie ‘CeCe’ Cline, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Colin Patrick Lynch, David Krumholtz, Demetra Raven, Dennis Keiffer, Elaine Mani Lee, Erik Weiner, Gina Torres, Glenn Howerton, Hunter Ansley Wryn, Jessica Huang, Jewel Staite, Linda Wang, Logan O’Brien, Marcus Young, Mark Winn, Marley McClean, Matt McColm, Michael Hitchcock, Morena Baccarin, Nathan Fillion, Nectar Rose, Neil Patrick Harris, Peter James Smith, Rafael Feldman, Rick Williamson, Ron Glass, Ryan Tasz, Sarah Paulson, Sean Maher, Summer Glau, Tamara Taylor, Terrell Tilford, Terrence Hardy Jr., Tristan Jarred, Weston Nathanson, Yan Feldman

Serenity is a futuristic sci-fi film that serves as a feature-length continuation of the story-line from the TV program Firefly (2002–2003). The story revolves around the captain (Nathan Fillion) and crew of the titular space vessel that operate as space outlaws, running cargo and smuggling missions throughout the galaxy. They take on a mysterious young psychic girl and her brother, the girl carrying secrets detrimental to the intergalactic government, and soon find themselves being hunted by a nefarious assassin (Chiwetel Ejiofor). The first feature-length film from Joss Whedon (The Avengers), Serenity is a lively and enjoyable adventure, replete with large-scale action sequences, strong characterizations and just the right touch of wry humor. An enjoyable viewing experience that stands alone without demanding that you have familiarity with the original program beforehand.
2. Sorry to Bother You (2018)
Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Science Fiction
Actor: Armie Hammer, Danny Glover, David Cross, Ed Moy, Forest Whitaker, James D. Weston II, Jermaine Fowler, John Ozuna, Kate Berlant, Lakeith Stanfield, Lily James, Marcella Bragio, Michael X. Sommers, Molly Brady, Omari Hardwick, Patton Oswalt, Robert Longstreet, Rosario Dawson, Steven Yeun, Teresa Navarro, Terry Crews, Tessa Thompson, Tom Woodruff Jr., Tony Toste, W. Kamau Bell
Director: Boots Riley
Tumblr media
In the year of the Netflix TV Show Maniac, another absurdist title stole critics’ hearts. Sorry to Bother You is a movie set in an alternate reality, where capitalism and greed are accentuated. Lakeith Stanfield (Atlanta) is a guy called Cassius who struggles to pay his bills. However, when at a tele-marketing job an old-timer tells him to use a “white voice”, he starts moving up the ranks of his bizarre society. A really smart movie that will be mostly enjoyed by those who watch it for its entertaining value, and not so much for its commentary. It is like a Black Mirror episode stretched into a movie.
1. Ex Machina (2015)
Genre: Drama, Science Fiction
Actor: Alex Garland, Alicia Vikander, Chelsea Li, Claire Selby, Corey Johnson, Domhnall Gleeson, Elina Alminas, Gana Bayarsaikhan, Oscar Isaac, Sonoya Mizuno, Symara A. Templeman, Symara Templeman, Tiffany Pisani
Director: Alex Garland
Rating: R

Ex Machina is the directorial debut of Alex Garland, the writer of 28 Days Later (and 28 Weeks Later). It tells the story of Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson from About Time), an IT developer who is invited by a billionaire CEO to participate in a groundbreaking experiment — administering a Turing test to a humanoid robot called Ava (Alicia Vikander). Meeting the robot with feelings of superiority at first, questions of trust and ethics soon collide with the protagonist’s personal views. While this dazzling film does not rely on them, the visual effects and the overall look-feel of Ex Machina are absolutely stunning and were rightly picked for an Academy Award. They make Ex Machina feel just as casually futuristic as the equally stylish Her and, like Joaquin Phoenix, Gleeson aka Caleb must confront the feelings he develops towards a machine, despite his full awareness that ‘she’ is just that. This is possibly as close to Kubrick as anyone got in the 21st century. Ex Machina is clever, thrilling, and packed with engaging ideas.
