I’ve been at this for about 2-3 weeks, your advice worked like a charm 🍀 I up my water changes 20 gallons per week, my tank is 75 gallons. Removed almost everything with Cyanobacteria, cleaned everything slowly. With the PH at 8.4 - 8.5. The algae turned a brown’ish, and wiped or is going away. I’m still cleaning but it look much better thank you. I’ve added 21 nerites, 15 hermit crabs, added a power head and directed the flow of water. Pulled things away from the glass, making sure everything has water flow. And the best of all, Add 2 Echidna nebulosa ( snowflake eels. Their stunning. I will keep you posted, next getting coralline algae to take root. Thanks again your the best , Jon

Ok, ok, so I’m asking again but now I’m getting a 125 gallon tank, ideally how many large fish would this tank allow (14+ inches)?
Haha well... kinda depends on body shape. A long and sluggish fish like a violet goby or smaller Moray (like our native Echidna nebulosa) can fit 2. Maybe 3. But a normal fishy-shaped fish? 1, maybe 2 if you had a mated pair of a very sessile animal like some mellow cichlid. With robust filtration, I think 2 bullheads of this length would be possible, assuming they already got along (and preferably started out smaller).
In my 125 gallon I have two Silver Scats that are both around the 9 to 10 (maybe 11 - they don't like rulers apparently) inch mark and they are already on the big side for it, given their activity level. A 125 really is not as much room as one might think - I might have gone 200 instead in hindsight.
I know, I'm a buzzkill! I'm trying not to be, but realism is a downer sometimes.

this is a post that only hits if you like a few specific things but i think if the 2016 death grips album bottomless pit was a moray eel instead of an experimental hip hop album it would be the snowflake moray (Echidna nebulosa)

Thank you for your great advice. I am new at this, and having a ton of fun. I’ve raised PH with Reef Buffer, ( raises the ph to 8.3. ) tested this week I’m there, The other test are within my parameters. I also did a 20 gallon water change and raise my salinity .018 So far I could find. Nerites I added 21, added another 10 fiddler crabs. I’m looking for 25 blue legged crabs, and 10-15 Trochus snails. Thinking about adding a par of snowflake morays. I thought it would interesting to see the results
Mod @thebrackishtank What size tank is this? I might start with fewer amounts of crabs (maybe 10-12 blue legged, skip the Fiddlers - they need air access) and see how the nerites do before adding in the Trochus snails. Also - best of luck with the snowflake morays... I think Echidna nebulosa is among the best morays for home keeping, but they are invertebrate eaters. You may find your new snails and crabs are just expensive treats :)

This was prompted by a Twitter thread a while back which consisted of a bunch of people making up “That’s Amore/That’s a Moray” parody verses for the fun of it. As usually happens when folks play with this pun, it was mostly one-shots of “When [something an eel does and you observe it] that’s a moray!” I decided I wanted to take this further and do a parody of the entire song, as closely as I could. I did still take a few liberties, and it’s not full length due to space constraints, but you should be able to sing this in its entirety to the original melody.
I also wanted to take the opportunity to dispel some myths about moray eels. While yes, they can deliver a nasty bite if you really, really mess with them, for the most part they’re pretty shy and don’t want to be bothered. They’re also small enough that they aren’t going to see you as a potential meal, even if those pharyngeal second jaws are pretty freaky looking at first!
Finally, I have an exciting announcement! I have officially opened a Redbubble store, and this design is the first one available there, mostly as prints and stickers. You can check it out by clicking on this Redbubble link right here.
Species portrayed: Undulated moray (Gymnothorax undulatus), snowflake moray (Echidna nebulosa), redface moray (Monopenchelys acuta), zebra moray (Gymnomuraena zebra), Seychelles moray (Anarchias seychellensis), viper moray (Enchelynassa vinolentus), ribbon eel (Rhinomuraena quaesita)

That’s a Moray - A Parody
By D.K. Cissel - wyntkan.com
In the ocean, whose waves are free
Where sky meets sea in coral causeways
When you see a great eye, and long teeth you do spy, that’s a moray!
When you swim in the brine with a fish serpentine, that’s a moray!
Jaws will launch from the deep of the eel’s dread pharynx, and you’ll say “What the HELL-uh!”
You’ll be safe from the fray, won’t be eaten today, by the moray!
When it snaps at a school don’t be playin’ the fool ‘bout a moray!
You’re just too big to eat from your head to your feet--for a moray!
So enjoy this great scene with a hunter marine--the bold moray!
“Scuza me while I eat this fishtastic cuisine” says the moray!
