thinking about Giles and Evil Queen. the bitter irony they hold. how Giles always believed his students should be able to step out of their pre-destined pages and write their own stories and then one of them does.
but it's the Evil Queen who does. she already has poisoned Wonderland and taken the Storybook of Legends, and if she doesn't get stopped who knows what other evil deeds she might commit. so she gets banished to the mirror realm.
Giles still believes everyone should get to chose their destiny, but what happened to his old student continues to haunt his mind. how funny it is that Evil Queen did what he wished. how funny it was how he was there to trap her in the mirror. how funny it is that he punished his own student for what he taught. but no one is laughing.
and to twist the knife he gets betrayed by his own brother, the same person with who he banished the Evil Queen, and gets trapped below the school, away from others eyes and no one to understand him. now both him and Evil Queen are in their own prisons with no hope of freedom for the same crime they commited in different ways.
who wants to see bruce being bullied? doesn't matter, here you go
...
“—per my last missive, Sir: if you want this equation to exist, then the principles of linear algebra must necessarily exist.” Korvin waves a thin stack of ruled paper—covered with sprawling formulas, symbols, bullet lists, and patchwork paragraphs on both sides—like he’s trying to banish a demon. That demon, in this instance, is “Batman being stubborn.”
Bruce looks taken aback, like something is happening outside of his set parameters. From how Dick tried to explain it: apparently, Bruce and Korvin have a whole “pen pals” routine going on, and it’s still thriving despite them sharing the same living quarters for the past few months?
Do they actually waste stamps on this? Where do they hide the envelopes?
(Dick raised his hands in surrender at that line of questioning.)
Tim knows Bruce is a creature of habit and standards of operation—of which he completely respects because it’s efficient—but his staunch adherence to routine is next-level neurotic. Normally, he'd be furious about being sidetracked.
Yet, Korvin’s thrown caution to the wind and got so mad over math, like the fussy nerd that he tries to hide being, that he’s directly confronting Bruce—full “David vs Goliath” vibes here. And he's winning.
“I trust your work,” Bruce finally says, holding his hand out for the papers.
That only makes Korvin’s face twitch harder. “Sure. Why not. Everyone needs a bit of make-believe. Escapism in these trying times and shitass economy.”
“‘Shitass economy,’” Cass murmurs, of course latching onto the bit that everyone reacts to.
that interaction reminded me yesterday abt my friend problem which was basically a one sided love. she liked/likes this girl but she match maked the girl w another friend of ours and they hit it off bc that girl always liked our friend. then yesterday she was crying abt it but like that girl genuinely sounds weird as fuck bc my friend had prev told her to stop doing and saying shit that would make her uncomfortable ( + the fact that she has a crush on her didn't help) but the girl kept breaking the boundaries over and over. only yesterday she managed to tell her off because I was the one scolding my friend because like girl if you're telling her over and over and she's pretending not to get it that just shows that even if u did get into a relationship w her she would just be constantly disrespect her boundaries which likeeee my friend wasn't getting it until I got mad at her abt it bc why are u asking me for help only to excuse it with rose tinted glasses !!! But anyways we #success
the problem I keep running into with Dunes is that it all sounds so good melodically, but there's like, maybe two lines per song where I have any clue what Anthony is saying
