Started replaying Dragon Quest 6 in an attempt to actually finish the bugger this time and I remembered that SOME wells will fuck you up but not WHICH wells

I cautiously approached a miniboss in one well, then blindly stumbled into its alt world counterpart and was beaten to death by Bloody Hands

10/10 would die like an idiot again

wowww 2024 what the helll....

anyways im sitting in my eye doctors office and i can feel my pupils dilating and my vision slowly getting blurrier but i want to make my 2023 recap post abt my year n the shit i was doing

this post is mostly gna be abt games i beat bc thats what i talk abt most on this blog lol but first

- went on my first vacation with my beautiful beautiful wife @sarahmacbitch and there will be many more

- finished and started my 2nd and 3rd years of university respectively

- completed the most brutal university semester yet (passed all classes i have marks for so far)

- got 2 swag jobs (1 of which i hope to return to next summer bc i slayed at it)

- and spent the whole year loving my beautiful beautiful wife @sarahmacbitch with all my heart

but its Game Time now bc i played and beat a lot of games lol

in alphabetical order the games i beat are:

- breath of the wild

- dragon quest i

- dragon quest ii

- dragon quest iii

- dragon quest vi

- earthbound

- final fantasy i

- final fantasy vii

- mario land 2

- mother/earthbound beginnings

- ocarina of time

- pokemon firered

- resident evil 1 (jills campaign)

- resident evil 2 (leon ab, claire a)

- secret of mana

- silent hill

if i had to pick a favourite i couldnt. i could pick a top 3 tho itd be silent hill, dqvi, and secret of mana. all awesome games.

going into 2024 im playing

- final fantasy vi (main game atm)

- shiren the wanderer 2: shiren's castle and the oni invasion

- lunar silver star story

- dragon quest monsters the dark prince

- livealive

and several more! i have lots of plans for this year (mostly hanging with ny wife) and i will beat many more games we shall see

despite it being jan 12th now (i started writing this post jan 2nd) happy new year to anyone who read this far!

One has to take the dubious distinction of least favorite, and that'd be DQ6. Not to say I didn't enjoy my playthrough, but especially after doing IV & V back-to-back it felt like a decline. The real black mark to me is feeling unpolished. That's the betrayal of the Dragon Quest series. I can handle a mechanic I don't like as long as I understand the intention is fully realized.

The big one here is the dream world. Very Wanoesque, theme of who we are against who we want to be. I like it. And the basic mechanic of jumping into the World of Dreams to take care of hurdles in the real world is awesome! The new way they did the class system is neat too, a big expansion compared to III. Introducing several iconic abilities including my beloved, cherished Hustle Dance.

Still...the first segment is the one that has an absurd difficulty. The job system opens up rather late and then sorta makes you grind by the end. It's the one of these I needed to have a walkthrough help me with the most. I also can't really recall the characters in the way I do others.

Drew a younger version of Terry from DQM. Haven't played the game for myself, but someone I chat with over on Discord that we share a mutual interest on Dragon Quest told me his opinion on this game (superior that Pokemon, I'll take that and trust him). Ofc both of us are hyped for DQM: TDP

I decided to make Terry a shiny Ralts (evolves into Gallade when he gets older). His sister, Milly, is a shiny Kirlia (evolves into Gardevoir when she gets older). I was thinking about making them a pair of Espurr/Meowstic or Eevee(lutions), but I decided to try something different with them.

Also as an added bonus, this was my first drawing on ibisPaint X that I wanted to send here cause why not
