Dude, watching shows like Divorce Court and Cheaters makes me feel way better about being single. The people in those shows are nuts.
I have been collecting the best comments from the youtube listings because oh lord. These people are nuts, absolutely insane, what the hell even are these relationship problems you are having? Can't you just be normal and cheat on each other and not bite your wife's kid or pretend to run over your boyfriend with your car???
I don't know if it makes me feel better about anything but I am intrigued.

Mertyle: A former leader of Lightning, Mertyle is a true case of opulence and greed at its finest. Constantly scheming and planning her next moves, whether it be politically, economically, or socially, she seems to never stop thinking. She is very vain and doesn’t really care if she hurts others to get her riches or power. Basically: she’s a girlboss.
Versus
Erratus: Angry, stubborn, and fearful are all generally words that summarize Erratus. He is well known for taking out his anger on his employees, screaming at them for even the slightest infractions. He doesn’t know how to drop a grudge, and will keep them to the grave. However, he holds a deep fear of betrayal, and will attempt to cling onto his attachments for as long as he can… and as long as they don’t do something he thinks is turning on him.
(Fun fact: these two are in an on and off again relationship. I’ll let that sit.)

The way writing Stizzy is a slog even if theres a secret third person there. So far in Divorce court I've been able to bang out the Jack/Ed Jack/Stede and Ed/Izzy and Jack/Izzy scenes like nothing but then I hit a wall when I have to write Izzy/Stede. I'm like A Sex Scene Belongs Here but neither of them want to fuck

What can the public do to combat corruption in the Queen's divorce courts?
The public plays a crucial role in combating corruption by holding judicial officials accountable, advocating for reforms to improve transparency and integrity within the judicial system, and raising awareness about the detrimental effects of corruption on society as a whole. Additionally, supporting organizations and initiatives that work to promote justice and fairness in divorce proceedings can help contribute to positive change.

CHILD BENEFITS 101 (and why they aren't misandrist)
The idea behind child benefits is that children should have the Quality of Life afforded to them by the totality of both parents' incomes.
Let's say, 2 parents are together. Father makes 500k/year. Mother makes 30k/year. The children have a quality of life that's afforded by a cumulative 530k/year. They have this quality of life 24/7.
When the parents split up, the kids are supposed to still have the quality of life afforded by a cumulative 530k/year, 24/7.
If the kids live with mom, then they do not have that Quality of Life. They have a Quality of Life that fits within 30k/year. Even if they live with mom 50% of the time, they have to live within a 30k/year life 50% of the time.
To remedy this unfairness to the child, the courts tell the father in the scenario to pay up (although in 50/50 custody this is less common). The father, who makes sixteen times more money than the mother, needs to allocate a share of money for his children to maintain a quality of life that they would have had before the parents split. Benefits are calculated to be a % of the parent's income, and typically, we put a cap on how much child benefits can be taken out, because, well, there is a limit.
Is there a moral/ethical burden on the mother to make sure all the child benefit is spent to actually benefit the child? Sure. But people underestimate how much rearing a child costs.
It's not just that little Timmy needs new clothes cause he grew out of his new ones; he'll need new shoes, new gym clothes, if he does sports or music he may require new equipment. Timmy also has school fees and lunches that need to be paid, school trips, possibly babysitting/daycare/after school care/what have you. Besides that, keeping a roof over Timmy's head, having his own room (as much as possible) and food in his stomach also requires a sum of money. Timmy uses electricity to keep his bedroom light on and his phone charged, water to clean himself, Timmy benefits from the electricity that powers the fridge. Timmy may require extra tutoring to get through school. Maybe a bit of pocket money to go out with friends and get an ice-cream on a hot summer's day. Some day he will apply for universities, he will get a driver's license, a car. He will likely require medical aid at some point.
A lot of people will say 'well the dad should just pay for things only little Timmy uses, and the mom should still be on the hook for general bills and rent/mortgage', but... Timmy still needs the bills and rent to be paid. The house that the rent money is paying for, is a house Timmy uses. And those bills and rent could be a lot less if miss ma'am was in a studio apartment by herself. She isn't. She's got little Timmy.
A lot of people will say 'well the dad should only pay 50% of total costs', but that's going against the first issue - 50 per cent of what costs? The kid is supposed to have the same QoL. Mom and Timmy have to live within their means, so if the father supplies 15k/year, then is Timmy getting the QoL afforded by 530k/year? No. He's getting the QoL afforded by 30k/year.
-Besides which, if the dad is only paying 15k for his child, and let's say the mom is allocating 15k too, then Timmy's Mom is sacrificing 50% of her income for her kid, and Timmy's dad is sacrificing 3% of his income for his kid. Does that seem fair and equitable to you?
---
Recently I saw a ruling of a man who was required to pay 9200/month in child benefits. He lost his shit, and quite frankly, the comments also collectively lost their shit because of how much money he was required to pay, the judge was a misandrist, a man hater, so was the ex, how dare they require him to pay so much money? The ex was just going to pocket it all anyway!!1!
9200 was less than half his monthly salary (he would have had to pay more if there hadn't been a cap on how much child benefit can be taken) and was to benefit his four children. 9200/4=2300. So, per child, he was spending 2300. 1/4 of rent of a 4-bedroom house/apartment, bills, and school costs, you know damn well, is easily going to rack up to 2k. Add on childcare, clothes, dental care... do you see where I'm going?
And. The. Same. Would. Happen. If. It. Was. The. Mom. Making. More. Money. And. The. Dad. Had. Custody.
(you just don't see that a lot because how many times do you see a father having full custody with an ex-wife who makes more money than him?? not often that's how many times)
There are, of course, extenuating circumstances. The courts can decide that other things are of influence on the situation. Like, in cases where parents share custody equally, there is usually no child benefit, or very little. Alimony is a whole other creature entirely. If a child's paternity proves to be different from originally stated. If there was abuse in the house. The age(s) of the kid(s) in question. All kinds of things can influence child benefits. The point is that -
The child's quality of life must not be affected by the parents splitting up.
That's it.

I don't understand people who act like they're too good to watch trash reality TV. Like the fact that it's trashy is what makes it fun, and the only way it's different from any soap opera is that it's usually about poor people.
Like how can you not enjoy knowing that there are people out there who are making worse decisions than you?
How can you not find that comforting?
If nothing else these shows are a great reminder why sometimes people are just better off staying single.

With divorce, what is the difference between an attorney and a legal document preparation service?
Uncontested Documents services are preparing legal documents, typing them up neatly, in the correct format, checking your spelling, grammar, math and designed for self-filed chapter 7 bankruptcy, uncontested divorces and qualified expungements. Our document preparation services are pre-authored packages that include the required forms and instructions to request your court order for individuals, authored from sources, publications from the court and licensed attorneys. Both legal document preparers and attorneys prepare your documents. In addition, an attorney would file your paperwork and are able to litigate if needed, with a contested matter. Not everybody needs these services. That’s where Uncontested Documents come in, for uncontested matters, simpler filings. In our packages, the step-by-step guide includes instructions to self-file and how to request your desired court order.
How much would a attorney cost to help me with my divorce? | When there are no children involved, most attorneys will require a retainer fee of around $1,500. By the time the divorce is completed, you can usually expect to pay somewhere in the range of $2,000 to $2,500. This figure assumes that the parties can agree on the terms, as a litigated divorce will always cost significantly more.
How much does it cost to use a legal document preparation service? | When there is no children involved, most legal document preparers will request a preparation fee of $435. On average, most attorneys ask for 4 to 5 times more even when matters are uncontested in nature. If there are minor child(ren) involved, we ask for an additional $122 more. When individuals are lower income or no income, we offer a voucher, through a partnership with United Way for a discounted price and allowed installments. See https://www.uncontesteddocuments.com and choose “Flexible Payment Plans” for qualifications and an application, please ask our team for help if you have any questions.
