Dandere: is a character who is shy, quiet, timid and asocial. They are afraid to talk, fearing that what they say will get them in trouble.

Erodere: characters will act perverted and lustful at first, but will become love struck and more embarrassed after experiencing true love.

Hajidere: a character who is really nervous and embarrassed around their crush. Their shyness either only appears when they are around or interacting with their love interest or intensifies even more around them if the hajidere is normally shy.

Hitsujidere: a character who is sheep, ram, or goat-related, or is obsessed with them to the point where they start to act like one.

Hokoridere: is someone, or more normally, a couple who are proud of their relationship and show it everywhere.

Masodere: a character who likes being hurt and humiliated.

Nemuidere: a character that spends much of their time sleeping, intentionally or unintentionally.

Nyandere: a dere type that is cat-related or is very obsessed with them, to the point where they act like them sometimes or all the time when their "dere" side appears.

Undere: a character who says "yes" or "I agree" to almost everything the one they love says and follows everything they are told to do. They are really dependent on their love interest, and would not know what to do without them.

Utsudere: a character who is often sad and depressed because of a traumatic event or condition, sometimes hidden in front of others at first.

Kireidere: a character who shows their love and admiration by trying to bring out the best in their love interest so that they can see the beauty that they really have.

Kosupureidere: a character who likes cosplay or wearing costumes.

Koukidere: is someone who is very curious.

Sutooriidere: is a term used for characters that apply fiction to their everyday lives.

Yandere: a character whose love, admiration, and devotion is so strong that it is expressed as an excessive obsession and possessiveness. They are often seen as characters that are crazily in love with someone.

Analysis: Tsundere

I think we're all familiar with the -dere type tropes, used to refer to characters. I think those tropes also tell us a lot about a character.

For instance, Tsundere, as mentioned in the title.

They're the anime certified "Hmph, I didn't like you anyway."

But if you think about it, what they're doing is pushing the person they have a crush on away. They're pushing the person they love away, even if their crush loves them back.

It's usually done as a funny trope, where everyone except the love interest is aware of their crush, but if you really think about it... under what situation would you willingly push someone you love away from you?

Under a situation where they can't leave you.

How do you prevent them from leaving you?

By making sure they were never with you to begin with.

If you don't become attached to them, them leaving you would hurt less than if you were their best friend or in love with them.

If you never knew them in the first place, there's no reason for you to feel upset when they leave.

So, dear writer who may read this post: If you want to write a tsundere, this is also a prime opportunity to give them a lot of depth.

Maybe they were abandoned when they were younger, and unwilling to trust easily again. Maybe they were hurt by trusting easily before, and hardened themselves to prevent feeling that pain again.
