REview: 3 Body Problem, Season One (2024) | Well Worth The Time
I have to admit that I was a little hesitant about 3 Body Problem because I wasn’t a fan of Game of Thrones and both series were created by D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, so despite the latter being a fantasy series and the former science fiction, I had my doubts. I need not have worried because 3 Body Problem is good, really good. I also like that the first season lasts only eight episodes –…

Caast your mind back 13 years, to the first episodes of an HBO series called Game of Thrones. While the books the series was built on had a cult following, no one could have anticipated the fervour that would envelope the world, and the huge success its stars (some of which have crossed into the GFFA including Emilia Clarke) and creators would enjoy. The world-building that George R.R. Martin had laid out in A Song of Ice and Fire was intricate, but that didn't mean the TV version would necessarily translate into such a watcheable, gripping series, but the duo behind that adaptation - David Benioff and D. B. Weiss - did it to such great effect, thoughts of a jump to the galaxy far, far away were unsurprisingly not too far behind. However, history shows that leap didn't quite stick the landing, and ahead of their latest Netflix series 3 Body Problem, Benioff and Weiss briefly touched on the Star Wars idea they had, and why it didn't happen. Next was their Star Wars movie. Fans were excited by the idea of the Thrones guys bringing their grounded-fantasy dramatics to a galaxy far, far away. Yet the movie was shelved along with Star Wars projects from other top creatives (like Kevin Feige, Patty Jenkins and Damon Lindelof). “We wanted to do The First Jedi,” Benioff says. “Basically how the Jedi Order came to be, why it came to be, the first lightsaber …” “And we were annoyed as hell when [Rian Johnson, the duo’s longtime friend and 3BP producer] called his movie The Last Jedi,” Weiss says dryly. “He completely destroyed the obvious title for what we were working on.” Asked what went wrong, Benioff says, “[Lucasfilm] ended up not wanting to do a First Jedi story. We had a very specific story idea in mind, and ultimately they decided they didn’t want to do that. And we totally get it. It’s their company and their IP, but we weren’t the droids they were looking for.” (Their overall concept still might happen — last year, Lucasfilm announced a movie titledDawn of the Jedi from director James Mangold.) With the previous announcements regarding the Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy film set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, the James Mangold Dawn of the Jedi project and the Mandoverse film directed by Dave Filoni now joined on the big screen by The Mandalorian & Grogu as well as a second season for Ahsoka, a fourth for The Mandalorian, the third and final season of The Bad Batch, debut seasons of The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew and the second season of Andor the galaxy far, far away has never been busier. H νέα εντυπωσιακή σειρά φαντασίας από το Netflix – Cineramen

Honestly, I feel very sorry for the fans of the Chinese science fiction book series “The Three-Body Problem” that Netflix has chosen renowned hacks David Benioff and D.B Weiss for the adaptation to television.
Considering these guys infamously stated how ‘Themes are for 8th grade book reports’ and had no understanding of the fantasy genre or GRRM’s books, characters, themes and overall message, I have a decent idea of how much they are going to bungle up a science-fiction book adaptation.
And considering their primitive ideas on women, their racism and homophobia, their inability to convey nuance in their characters, I can already guess how terrible their take on a Chinese book series, set in China, is going to be.
I have also heard that the books are already borderline sexist and the characters rather vacant and one dimensional so maybe this is right up D&D’s alley. All the same, I extend my sincere sympathies to the “The Three Body Problem’ fandom that D&D are who they get for the TV show.

“I feel totally chuffed to have been part of something like this for so long. It’s hard to say goodbye to everyone after nine years, to the characters as well. There she goes. It’s been fun, and bonkers. I loved her…and now her watch has ended.” – Lena Headey

Internet: KATHLEEN KENNEDY SHOULD HIRE A WOMAN TO WRITE AND DIRECT STAR WARS NOW THAT BENIOFF AND WEISS ARE GONE!
Me: How about just hiring someone who's qualified for the fucking job and not basing the decision on the person's gender like that actually means anything? ffs

Jaime's DEAD
I'm not torching anyone's hopes. That's your right. But fuck HBO for refusing to update his and Cersei's profiles as deceased and likely ordering James Hibberd to hold on to what appears to be an interview regarding Jaime.
Game of Thrones may have revolutionized cable TV. It also ended it.
HBO is desperately grasping at straws by pulling this move. People will still watch the finale but how different will be those numbers from the premiere?
The problem is not that two of the series' favorite characters died (fight me on this, Lena is AMAZING with TVCersei--BookCersei is better, though). They died so wrongly. Jaime and Cersei deserved glorious deaths.
Fuck you, Benioff and Weiss.
