Top 10 foods for fitness
Tumblr media
What are the top 10 foods for fitness?
1. Cow’s milk
Tumblr media
By Thealthiest Web Desk: With hydrating water, muscle-healing protein, refueling sugar, and bone-healthy calcium, milk is an excellent choice for those who are increasing their level of physical activity. Thanks to its slow-digesting casein and ability to support sleep-inducing melatonin, a glass of tepid milk before bedtime may also help you fade off and get the rest you need.
Fitness benefits
Chocolate milk has always been an endurance athlete favorite. It may sound deleterious, but it contains the two essential constituents you need after a workout: carbohydrates for energy and protein for muscle repair. A fruit beverage or fruit smoothie prepared at home will also suffice.
Recipes to try
Super berry smoothie Cranberry and raspberry smoothie Avocado and strawberry smoothie
2. Dried fruit
Tumblr media
Dried fruits (such as apricots, raisins, and mango) provide a concentrated source of carbohydrates, which makes them an excellent source of energy. Every bite will also provide you with dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals, including potassium.
Fitness benefits
If you can't tolerate energy gels, dried fruit is a wonderful natural alternative because it is rich in carbohydrates that provide energy. Aim for one to two servings prior to a race and two to three servings per hour of running. (one serving is roughly three dried figs).
As with all consumables, competitors should experiment with dehydrated fruit during training and not on the day of the competition.
Recipes to try
Dried fruit energy nuggets Choc orange energy boosters Energy balls
3. Broccoli (and other green veg)
Tumblr media
Broccoli, kale, spinach, and green cabbage are among the most nutrient-dense foods you'll discover. They contain antioxidants that combat free radicals, fiber that aids in digestion, and an army of vitamins and minerals. They are also an excellent source of folate, which is believed to be beneficial for cardiac health and for women who are trying to conceive.
Fitness benefits
When it comes to bone-building calcium, plant-based foods like broccoli and kale are a healthful alternative to dairy products. Low calcium levels make you more susceptible to stress fractures, especially if you participate in endurance athletics; therefore, make sure you consume enough calcium – the NHS recommends 700mg per day for adults.
Recipes to try
Ginger, sesame, chilli prawn & broccoli stir-fry Chicken, kale & mushroom pot pie Creamy garlic & lemon spinach salmon
4. Sweet potatoes
Tumblr media
Sweet potatoes are versatile, provide disease-fighting beta-carotene, iron, fiber, and vitamin C, and count as one of your daily five servings. They may be pureed, baked, or prepared as paté.
Fitness benefits
Sweet potatoes are an excellent supplement to a carb-loading diet, particularly before a half marathon. In addition, they are rich in the electrolyte potassium, which can help prevent cramping during exercise.
Recipes to try
Sweet potato & peanut curry Crispy cod wedges with sweet potato wedges
5. Bananas
Tumblr media
Bananas are the ideal fitness food because they are small, portable, easy to digest, and loaded with nutrients. Don't discard the skin so quickly, however, as Taiwanese dietitians discovered that it contains not only more potassium, but also mood-boosting serotonin and eye-protecting lutein. Try the entire banana, including the rind, in a smoothie.
Fitness benefits
Bananas contain slightly more energy than other fruits, but the majority of their calories come from carbohydrates, making them ideal for refueling before, during, and after exercise. In addition, they are loaded with potassium, which may prevent muscle spasms during exercise.
Recipes to try
Mango & banana smoothie Malt loaf with banana & honey Peanut butter & banana on toast

Inalsa Air Fryer Price, Reviews, Features, Spec, and Ratings (List-1)
Tumblr media
This blog post will discuss one of the highly demanding and online searching Inalsa Air Fryers. We will give detailed information about the features, specifications, reviews, ratings, etc. of six Inalsa air fryers at different prices.
If you are considering an air fryer from the Inalsa brand, this blog post will help you make the right decision.
What is an Air Fryer and how it works?
An air fryer is a kitchen appliance that cooks food by circulating hot and dry air around it. This eliminates the need for oil or butter, which reduces your exposure to unhealthy fats and calories.
It has a food bucket that has very small holes so that the circulating heat from the bottom reaches the food evenly. This allows the food to cook evenly in the air fryer.
It also results in shorter cooking times, so you can cook meals quickly and easily without all the fuss.
The Air Fryer comes in different sizes and capacities but it’s a compact kitchen appliance, so you can easily place it anywhere on the kitchen countertop without taking up much space.
The air fryer is the perfect kitchen appliance for anyone who loves to eat and cook French Fries, Chicken Nuggets, Veg Cutlets, and Indian Deep Fried Snacks like Samosas, Vada, Kachoris, etc.
An air fryer is a great kitchen appliance to reheat leftover food as well. While some dishes become soggy when reheated in the oven, they are perfectly heated in an air fryer, such as chicken drumsticks.
An additional benefit of using an air fryer is that it kills harmful bacteria and viruses inside infected food items before cooking them down completely. So even if you’re not 100% sure whether something is safe to eat, an air fryer will get the job done!
Benefits of using an air fryer
There are many benefits of using an air fryer, especially the health benefits. We are mentioning some of the benefits below.
Weight-Loss:Air-fried food directly helps in weight loss. Compared to deep frying, the use of oil in cooking by air fryer is almost negligible, thereby reducing the intake of high fat and calories, which reduces obesity and prevents many serious diseases.
Safe Cooking:Using an air fryer is always safer because no oil usage means no risk of spilling, splashing, and accidentally touch of hot oil.
Prevents From Toxic Formation:Frying in oil can lead to the production of dangerous compounds in the food, which causes serious diseases such as cancer. The origin of such compounds in cooking food with an air fryer is negligible.
Prevents From Various Diseases:If you are a deep-fried food or snacks lover and consume a lot of it, it will surely adversely affect your health. You can reduce this risk to a great extent by replacing deep-fried food with air-fried food.
Tasty and crispy dishes: With the air fryer, you can make your favorite fried dishes or snacks tastier and crispy like a deep fry but without using oil and without any hassle just put your ingredients and power up your air fryer.
Easy Cooking and Save time:The basic model air fryer has some preset options and a timer which makes your cooking easy and you have delicious dishes in less time. Some superior air fryer has an advanced feature that can make your cooking super easy.
These were the special advantages of the air fryer which ensure that this kitchen appliance is a great option for those who love fried dishes.
Inalsa is one of the well-known kitchen appliance brands and has a wide range of air fryers. In this blog post, we will discuss Inalsa air fryers and try to give you every information, then let’s start.

Dreamie weenies nola
Tumblr media
Thai locations with vegetable heavy dishes. seedNOLA makes a vegan poboy (selection of eggplant or tofu and chickpea), crispy nuggets, and recent pressed juices. All in all we managed to experience over 90 different restaurants during our time in the Big Easy, an incredible 80 of which we considered worthy of sharing here with you, our readers. The city also saw the shutter of Dreamie Weenies this year, which was known for its diplomatic approach to hot dogs, delighting both vegans and meat eaters. Meals adventures in New Orleans Well-known for crawfish boil and gumbo, NOLA has loads of veg choices. In fine cafes and bistros throughout the city, we feasted upon nearly every fruit of the Gulf of Mexico, including redfish, catfish, crawfish, flounder, crab, shrimp, scallops, mussels and calimari but we also made a point, in the spirit of adventure, to occasionally eschew New Orleans’ firmly established seafood traditions, delighting in a number of decadent pork preparations, a combined dozen unique cuts of ribeye, New York strip and filet mignon, a variety of pastas, a few servings of lamb, duck, escargot and foie gras here and there, and on one of our most daring outings, an exotic roasted beef bone marrow dish. We scarfed down hot dogs in Marigny, devoured hamburgers in Jefferson, inhaled pizza in West Riverside, and paradoxically, gorged on Mexican in Irish Channel. Our gastronomic explorations within the Crescent City went far beyond the limits of the French Quarter, however, as we took in extravagant dining experiences in nearly 20 different neighborhoods. Topped with a variety of sauces (curry, BBQ shrimp. From December 2014 until May of 2015 we here at I♥DM enjoyed the gluttonous privilege of living and working in the heart of downtown New Orleans, only a single block from the world-famous French Quarter, where one faces nothing less than a full-scale daily onslaught of countless aromatic enticements on nearly every stroll down its legendary streets. This French Quarter hot dog joint is known for its New Orleans-style hot dog, a seven-inch, quarter-pound frank loaded with red beans and rice. No metropolis in America boasts a cuisine and dining tradition so outrageously indulgent and so deeply intertwined with the daily life of its residents as that of the great city of New Orleans, Louisiana.

OJT EATS | CASA do FRANGO
Tumblr media
When you hear piri piri, you probably think of Nando’s but if you’re looking for something a little fancier, Casa do Frango is exactly what you’re looking for.
Tumblr media
Unlike Nando’s which is technically South African, Casa do Frango is at least on the face of things more authentically Portuguese. These were bacalhau fritters. Super savoury and very moreish.
Tumblr media
Garlic prawns. Lovely fresh prawns in a really garlicky oil. A very classic dish but done really well!
Tumblr media
There were some really interesting veg dishes on the menu, this chargrilled hispi cabbage was one of them. It came with a roasted red pepper yoghurt as well as a garlic and parsley sauce. I’m normally not the biggest fan of red pepper but this was really nice!
Tumblr media
This was my favourite of the veg dishes though. A whole grilled cauliflower marinated in honey, lemon and piri piri and then smothered in a lime and coriander yoghurt. The cauliflower had been slow roasted til the point where it was so soft, it was almost fudge like in consistency; so good!
Tumblr media
Iberica pork croquettes. Quite a thick crust but super creamy inside with these tiny little nuggets of pork. Not necessarily the best croquettes I’ve had but still, pretty tasty!
Tumblr media
Finally onto the main event, the piri piri chicken. It comes half a chicken to a portion and the photo is of one portion. Personally, I do love a Nando’s but this is definitely a level above that. The chicken was really tender and the flavour, while not too spicy was really rich; delicious!
Tumblr media
This is on the menu as “African Rice” and is apparently the Casa do Frango signature side dish.  Made with Portuguese rice, chicken skin, chorizo and plantain, it is really good.  The only slight disappointment was that the shards of chicken skin stuck into it weren’t very crispy.  They were more just a little bit tough.  If they’d managed to get those right, this dish would be pretty spectacular.
We had a really good time at Casa do Frango.  The restaurant in London Bridge is in a lovely old building with plenty of sunshine and the food is pretty great.  What surprised me more than the quality of the chicken were actually the sides, and in particular the vegetables.  Definitely worth another trip!
Casa do Frango, 32 Southwark Street, London Bridge, SE1 1TU
Cheers, JL

hey jaime! i just read your answers to the tag, and now i'm left wondering about how you make salads that are just THAT good--care to share a recipe with this peasant who wants to be semi-healthy? (warning: i DESPISE celery and grapefruit; other than that i'll eat any veg/fruit- i have a special place in my heart for green lentils and beans)
Ohhhhh sure sure! So I call them ‘garbage can’ salads because I throw everything in. I don’t always make them the same and this will probably sound work intensive but honestly I make these in like 15min tops and I usually keep big batches of my homemade dressings in the fridge.
So the salad usually consists of lettuce, green onion, plus whatever other veggies I have handy (generally: mushrooms, bell pepper, carrots). Make sure you let the veg sit out as you prepare everything else so it warms to room temp. You can really add whatever you want to the base though. I often will add steamed broccoli, strawberries, grapes, etc etc.
Then one of my key bits of deliciousness is crispy tofu. I know a lot of people turn their nose up at tofu but honestly you wouldn’t if you had my crispy tofu. I marinate little cubes of tofu (in a mix of tamari/ soy sauce, mustard, garlic, vinegar, lemon juice). Then I ‘bread’ it in nutritional yeast (usually a mix of nutritional yeast, sesame seeds, other seasoning) and cook them in an air fryer. It results in delicious, crispy, cheesy-tasting little nuggets.
The other additions I add to the salad are chopped up vegan cheese (if I have any in the fridge), and either rice or pasta (warmed). All of this is mixed into the salad, not on the side. If you wanted to add beans or lentils, that would work too!
And then of course, another key ingredient is my dressing. I go between probably 3 different ones. There is the tahini dressing. If you want that recipe let me know. There are a lot online. But the main two I use are these (sorry there aren’t measurements - I only ever eyeball things, never measure):
Salad Dressing #1:  - Lemon  - Dijon mustard - splash of apple cider vinegar - Olive oil - mashed fresh garlic - salt, pepper, garlic powder (this dressing is better if it’s been sitting for a few hours) Salad Dressing #2: (I add olive oil separately as a drizzle over top and not into the dressing itself) - Balsamic vinegar - Apple cider vinegar (about 1/3 of the amount of balsamic) - Dijon mustard (or ketchup) - mashed fresh garlic - salt, pepper, dill weed, garlic & onion powder - Nutritional yeast (a good amount - it will thicken the dressing as it sits)
And there you have it! Delicious salads!

[NEW!] Butter Bean, Veg and Stuffing Stew, 42p

Temper Covent Garden
Tumblr media
Despite one of us being a pescatarian, the rest of us in the OJT family are all meat lovers.  There’s no end of good meat restaurants in London but one of our favourites is Temper and so the other day, we headed down to the one in Covent Garden for a quick lunch.
Tumblr media
We started the meal with some crispy pork belly bites.  They had a little bit of a kick and were these litle nuggets of tender fatty sweet and smoky pork.  Really tasty!
Tumblr media
Everything comes when it’s ready and so the next thing that arrived were cheddar humitas.  Humitas are a south American dish that are made from corn.  This version was a little like really cheesy polenta; it was quite rich and very punchy from the cheese.  A fairly heavy side but I really enjoyed it.
Tumblr media
Pretty much all the dishes here come on the in house made flatbreads that are a little paratha like.  This plate was lamb and kimchi carnitas.  Like the pork bites, with the chillis, this had a little bite to it.  The lamb itself was amazingly tender but you couldn’t really taste the kimchi.
Tumblr media
The other main dish we had were these aged beef skewers.  These were my favourite dish of the meal.  It was like a little beef meatball kebab type thing.  The beef itself had a really deep flavour to it that went really well with the hot sauce that came with it.  The texture of the flatbreads were great as well.
Tumblr media
Look at that layer of ogleshield cheese! You can’t really see them underneath but buried under that blanket of cheese were beef fat potatoes.  It was a bit of a shame that the cheese cooled down and set into just a bit of a block of cheese but other than that, you can’t really go wrong with beef fat, potatoes and cheese :)
Tumblr media
We figured we would also still get some sort of veg to go with the meat and so we went for a grilled hispi cabbage.  However, keeping the theme of pretty much everything having some sort of beef fat in it, this was covered with beef fat bearnaise and corn (along with a bunch of other herbs and spices) as well as a bunch of fried leaves (looked like either cabbage or maybe even kale).  Delicious but not exactly a light refreshing salad.
Tumblr media
For dessert, we had this deep dish cookie with fior di latte ice cream.  This was easily the best dessert I’ve had for a while.  It came hot from the oven and had a lovely crisp to the top and was super soft and warm inside.  The ice cream had a strong vanilla taste to it that went perfectly with the chocolate chip cookie.
I really enjoyed this meal.  I’ve always been a fan of Temper and this meal served as a great reminder why.  The meat here is really well done and the sides are great too.  Definitely somewhere I’ll be going back to.
