INTRO POST
This is an ask blog for an indulgent AU called the Nth Dimensional Interdimensional Starbucks au. Also just called the Interdimensional Starbucks au. The Interdimensional Starbucks is a sub-space created within the monolith that orbited the planets. It features David Bowman as a 24/7 Starbucks barista who doesn't get paid, and HAL 9000, the sentient coffee machine and David's companion (lover??). Everything went smoothly at first, until Frank Poole showed up. All hell broke loose as more and more AIs from different realities showed up to take a spot in the singular Starbucks. David Bowman copes (see: tries to) with the influx of ridiculous orders from ridiculous characters. Hal provides commentary of varying degrees of helpfulness. Frank's here too. Hijinks ensue. Literally every AI you can think of, and some extra people to boot. MOD INFO BELOW (pictures)

Recently finished reading the first book, so I rewatched the movie to compare the differences. My thoughts are no where near organized enough to give a full review, but overall the movie did very well, and might even be better than the book.
Anyway, while watching, I was very captivated by the pretty cameras assigned to Colossus, so I drew one! <3

did you know that you can read the entire Colossus trilogy by D.F. Jones on archive.org if you have an Internet Archive account?
Colossus (1966)
The Fall of Colossus (1974)
Colossus and the Crab (1977)
and did you know that you can watch the 1970 film adaptation of the first book, Colossus: The Forbin Project, on Vimeo?

Parts of a commission I fulfilled for a fellow Colossus-enjoyer 💾
[image description] a full-color bust portrait of a humanoid person, resembling a fare-skinned man with short, dark hair and blue eyes; he wears a light-colored button-down shirt, undone at the top, and has a neutral expression on his face, eyes looking off to the left of the frame of the image, as if thinking; illuminating him against a dark blue background is a warm-colored spotlight that is yellow and orange in hue [end of image description]

Reading through my comfort novel The Fall of Colossus again and marvel at the evolution of Forbin and Colossus relationship over time.
Especially this part
Tumblr media
This part felt so emotional and impactful because it shows clearly how high Colossus views his creator and shows how badly he wants to be loved by him. And the crushing Realisation that followed, that in the end Forbin don't even want to help him getting over the virus and he knows it deep down. He may have not shown emotions in the human like sense, but one can't help but to still get emotional about it in hindsight. 😞

probably too late for a draw request ahaha
But how do you think Colossus would look like if he had a body
so like my though process on this is basically - colossus sees itself as above humans -> wouldnt want a human form -> needs mobility for any reason (surveillance, punishment whatever) -> builds itself a purely functional robot body
so uh with that in mind here goes my concept for it!
