actually re: saturn insulting akainu in the newest chapter, this is also something i was thinking about earlier this arc, when akainu was fighting kuma at mariejois, and as he was attempting to fend off this quite genuine threat, the celestial dragons were just sort of hanging around and whining at him about all the minor inconveniences in their privileged lives.
akainu is the most committed servant of the world government's vision. he questions no orders and has no doubts of the rightness of his cause. he will destroy an entire ship fill of civilians on the off chance that a single scholar may have snuck aboard. and what does it get him?
it gets him the very people he's defending demeaning him because they can't have lobster. there will never be any gratitude for that loyal service he's rendered, because the celestial dragons see it as nothing less than their due. and as we see in the most recent chapter, even the slightest or most unavoidable failure will get him ruthlessly insulted. at the end of the day the celestial dragons see akainu as, like all other people, fundamentally lesser, and therefore unworthy of respect.
this is the system you're slaughtering for, akainu. hope you like it.

This sequence is so good; I love that they all just jump into action to protect Robin, and it’s even more noteworthy that all of their top fighters are elsewhere but none of them hesitate to throw themselves at this literal monster to make sure Robin stays safe.

Attention!!!
I fuckin knew it bro! For years I’ve been saying it’s like Wind Waker. It’s flooded!!!! That’s why Water 7 is sinking, why the Celestial Dragons live at the top of the Red Line, and even Noah makes more sense now. So is the EL hole man made to stop flooding? How? Why? Who? Global warming!!!!!?
Is this part of what Clover was gonna say? I thought we’d get the reveal of Imu n the name of the Ancient Kingdom. Damn Oda what a chapter to break on.
Edit: That’s why CDs dress like that.
Did Imu cause the flooding or is that something he fears too? Is it imus plan to flood the world n remove the “insects?” Is the flood the cleansing?
How much water was there 1000 years ago? Like our earth? Did they even sail because tech was super advanced? Was it like Enel’s Vearth? Still haven’t touched on the moons again nor the sky races.
I’m still worried about Tonjit. Oda is gonna make everything connect I can feel it.

Ch 1113 Spoilers
BABY, IT FEELS GOOD TO HAVE PREDICTED SOMETHING 2 YEARS AGO AND BEING RIGHT
I KNEW THAT THE WORLD WAS GOING TO BE FLOODED
THE ONLY MISSING PIECE TO MY PREDICTION YEARS AGO IS IF IT'S ALL PART OF IMU'S PLAN TO KILL EVERYONE (Either except those in Mariejois or everyone except for themself) OR NOT.

I love how after months of being teased for some of that juicy juicy lore about the ancient past we just get
climate change
climate change is real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
at least it's now harder to argue the one piece isn't political

one piece chapter 1113 spoilers
i'm curious if the sword that nusjuro gorosei has could rlly be shodai kitetsu
in this chapter the hilt and blade were finally more visible when he was seen using the sword, as opposed to in the previous chapters where the focus wasn't on the details of how it looked, but more on the attacks themselves (if i remember correctly)
it looks so similar to zoro's sandai kitetsu:
"Sandai Kitetsu is a moderately curved katana with a white edge and a distinct blue hamon that has the appearance of flames. Its tsuba is golden and shaped like a rounded cross pattée." (x)
and to nidai kitetsu (that luffy had in wano for a brief time)
"Nidai Kitetsu is a moderately curved katana with a light purple edge and a distinct blue hamon that has the appearance of flames. Its tsuba is gold and shaped like a rounded cross pattée." (x)
it'd make sense the gorosei has one of the most powerful and legendary swords, as well as the first one in the kitetsu line
it also makes me wonder how he even got it.

I've never seen anything more beautiful in my life
I was totally expecting Zoro to show up and save Nami, Usopp and Chopper from Saturn. This?!! This is so much better

I love Nami. I love luffy, i love their friendship.
How they trust each other completely. How they complete each other.
How in some points they're similar to each other. They do love a treasure. They do have own motivations to save other people (not always the same) : they're still pirates and not heroes, but they're both kind.
And also, as chapter 1113 show us, they're both good at reading other people. Luffy has some huge emotional intelligence, knowing what people feels and even when they lie to themself (such at Sanji in WCI). Nami felt very much what Vivi was going through.
And they're are quick to know who are Robin enemies thanks to that ability.
Nami is the quickest to realize Robin will be the target. And also, damn, if she could stretch she would grab Robin the same way Luffy have sometimes grabbed Nami and Robin by the waist.
(oh, now thanks to Zeus her weapon does strecht.)

Hello. I missed the raws of ch 1113 and I was wondering what were the exact words Vegapunk uses when he declares their world is sinking in the last panel.
I'm curious how literal those words are, and if there's a more metaphorical feeling behind them regarding the decline of their world.
Thank you! ❤️
it seems to be quite straightforward and literal! the line is この世界は海に沈む/kono sekai wa umi ni shizumu. kono sekai = this world; umi ni = in the ocean; shizumu = will sink.
it is interesting to me that the verb shizumu is conjugated here with the simple present/future tense, which means it's saying something that will happen, not something that has already started happening. if you wanted to say "this world is sinking into the ocean," for instance, you'd probably say shizundeiru instead.

There are many good things happening here but I’m particularly fond of the multiple Chopper-pawns.
