I had a really bad meltdown today in 8th period. 5th & 8th are my 2 worst. I'd already had my department head come in and help me out with 5th.
In 8th I even have an aide and between the two of us we still cannot control the class. There are five boys in there that simply wreak havoc every day. Today I taught 2 sentences and that was as much as I got. The rest of the time I spent telling them to be quiet.
Finally after the 20th time ---- and trust me having to tell them 20 times to get quiet is very normal and a daily occurrence--- I just lost it.
Half of the class did not even take notes on Friday. The half that did, didn't bother to put their names on the notes.
And these notes are not traditional notes these notes are the type where you only fill in one or two words per sentence-- the type you would normally give special ed kids but I am giving it to everyone because that's how bad the kids are this year.
So after spending the first 25 minutes of class trying to get them situated with their notes, handing them back and trying to figure out what notes belong to who because most people did not put their name on them, I said something about we will pick up where we left off yesterday.
The entire class screamed at me: YESTERDAY WAS SUNDAY!!!!
And that was it. I burst into tears and had to have the principal come for the last 15 minutes of class.
When I worked in my hometown the school that I got sent to was, when I had grown up there, the best school in town. Now it is where the children of drug dealers, gang members, thugs, and convicts go, because it is right down the street from a prison, and across the street from a crack den apt complex.
I expected constant disrespect and misbehavior from those kids. Which I got and more. Part of the reason I walk with a cane now is because I was tackled in the hallway by 2 4th grade boys attempting to jump a third which I stood in the way of, which messed up my back and hips. I had one kid stabbed another kid and my first period class and which I had two AIDS aside from myself and I still could not control them. And the kid who did the stabbing only got one day of in school suspension. And that was it.
So I pretty much expected it from those kids.
These kids come from decent homes. I would wager most of their parents make twice what I do. And yet the constant disrespect this year, the constant refusal to work, and the absolute apathy for anything but tik tok makes them right on par with the baby thugs I taught back home.

Naomi Wolf ran a crowd-sourced analysis project to analyze 300,000 Pfizer documents that were released thanks to a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request. In January, US District Judge Mark Pittman of the Northern District of Texas ruled that the documents be released, and the results found are stunning.
The research found that 44% of women who participated in the Pfizer trial of the coronavirus vaccine lost their baby. Wolf was interviewed on Steve Bannon's show "War Room" to discuss the effects of the vaccine on pregnant mothers.
“Women will understand how tragic this is. Pfizer took those deaths of babies, those spontaneous abortions and miscarriages, and recategorized them as ‘recovered result adverse effects.’ In other words, if you lost your baby, it was categorized by Pfizer as a resolved adverse event, like a headache that got better,” Wolf said.
This data has never been released to the public before and women have been gaslit to believe that their periods were never actually affected by the coronavirus vaccine (even though it was later revealed that the vaccine does in fact affect menstrual cycles).
Sadly, this research will very likely never be reported on by mainstream news outlets and it will continue to be swept under the rug by public health organizations. Additionally, the CDC still officially recommends that pregnant women get the coronavirus vaccine.

Quick and Reliable - The COVID Flu Rapid Test for Swift Results
Tumblr media
A Covid Flu Rapid Test is a diagnostic tool used to detect the presence of Covid-19 and influenza viruses in an individual's body. The test is designed to quickly provide results, usually within 15-30 minutes, making it a useful tool in identifying individuals who may have been exposed to the viruses.
The test is performed using a sample collected from the nose or throat, similar to the process of a standard Covid-19 test. The sample is then analyzed using specialized equipment that can detect the presence of viral particles.
It is important to note that while the Covid Flu Rapid Test is a useful tool, it is not as accurate as some of the more traditional PCR tests, which can detect very small amounts of the virus. As such, a negative result on a rapid test does not necessarily mean that an individual is not infected with Covid-19 or influenza.
Overall, the Covid Flu Rapid Test is a valuable tool in the fight against Covid-19 and influenza, providing quick and convenient results for those who need it most.

I do not know how to make my students this year care about anything.
We had an active shooter drill lockdown yesterday. And while my third period class did very well, my last class bragged about how they were so bad during the drill they made their math teacher cry.
Another boy said just as proudly that if it happened to him he would use his best friend as a human shield and let him get shot instead.
These kids are 10 years old. And they are the worst bunch of kids I've had in 5 years. When I worked back in my hometown the first year that I taught, the children that I taught had parents who were thugs, convicts, addicts, dealers and gangbangers.
These kids all come from stable, if mainly poor, homes and they act the exact same way.
I am miserable and at my wit's end because no one ever taught these children how to act, how to listen or how to respect anyone.

Hey its a Lil late in the month but this disability pride month I wanna talk about long covid. I also have chronic pain and all sorts of worms in my brain but I've been dealing with that forever. So we're talking about the new stuff. Putting a readmore because I'm talking about what my experience being sick with covid was like and it's probably unpleasant to read.
It's December of 2022 and I work retail while I'm home from school for winter break. I mask up every time I leave the house, including for work. My parents don't. My father talks about covid not being a big deal. He caught it last year and it was a mild cold for him. He says "i ate lunch with someone who had covid last week and im fine!" My mother catches covid a week after that conversation. I test and am seemingly fine despite symptoms of a cold, and then three days later (one of those days was a full 8hr shift at work where I was worn ragged because it's almost christmas. I also got heat exhaustion because the AC was busted and I live in TX.) I feel the worst I have felt in ages. My mom insists that my dad takes me to get tested for the flu, and I schedule a covid test while I'm at it. My covid test comes back positive.
For the next week I am bedbound, only able to sit up enough to try to eat something and only able to stand up long enough to get myself to and from the bathroom. I sleep through the days when I can get the dayquil down, and cough through the nights when I can't get the nyquil down. I hallucinate when im tired. One of those nights I swear I talk to god. My brain is fogged and it hurts to breathe. I am worried I will need to be hospitalized because I can't seem to keep any water in my system. It's a miracle that I can write instructions for my father to cook ramen for me. I can only drink the broth. One morning I try to take dayquil to soothe my throat and I vomit. My stomach is empty and I stand over the sink wretching.
It feels like a miracle when I recover. Christmas day my symptoms mostly clear up and I'm able to sit up long enough to use my computer, something I was unable to do for the past week. I test negative, my second best Christmas present that year. The first is the Elden Ring soundtrack on vinyl. I am elated that I made it put the other end.
A week later my friend comes from a few cities away to visit for a few days. We go shopping one afternoon, spend a few hours standing around at the local game store looking at dice and miniature plastic dragons. We get home at 6pm. I collapse into bed and wake up 3 hours later. I talk to my doctor about it in January, she says it should go away over time. Six months maximum.
I spend my spring semester exhausted. I start using a cane to make sure I can walk across campus. I'm thankful that many of my friends are also disabled because they understand when I need to ask people to slow down, or bail because of my fatigue. Many of the abled people in my life do not understand. One day I go out to a museum, a thing I am excited to do. When I get home at 4pm I make myself popcorn, then collapse into bed. I can't walk to the sink without my cane, I can barely get out of bed. This is what I have to adjust to.
Six months pass. The fatigue is not gone. I am home for summer break, and I try talking to my parents about my fatigue. They don't understand. I talk to my doctor. She is convinced it's depression symptoms. My mental health is largely the best it's been in years- I've been in treatment for months now and it is helping.
It's been about seven months now. I am not receiving treatment, nor will my doctor acknowledge that I have long covid. She has relented into testing for physical things. I got a CT scan, and have a sleep study scheduled for when I get back from visiting family in August. Depending on what these turn up and how my doctor reacts I am preparing to find a new doctor. I am not excited about this, because I like my doctor. But if she refuses to acknowledge that what has happened to me is likely covid and therefore will not treat me I will find someone else.
I don't really have a moral here beyond please mask up, get vaccinated, etc. Even if covid doesn't fuck you up it might fuck up someone you pass it to. Or even worse, it can kill the immunocompromised people around you. Please have compassion for the people around you. My father, who is a loving and caring man, brought this illness home to me. It wasn't out of malice, but it still has affected my life for probably the rest of my life.
