BUT let me just say that Back to You is one of my least favourite songs and is at the bottom of the list for me (not a problem with Bebe), because the studio version it's SO NOT HIM, so when I heard the pop punk version while watching the live I ended up loving it so fucking much I couldn't believe it! So yeah, he can turn a cheesy hit into a headbangable song to me🤘

And Gina... I just remembered when I asked you about Social Distortion and you said like you dated a guy that looked like Mike or something? Hahaha You're a fucking legend!!! 😎

Hope this is okay to send you! As a new louis fan I didnt even realise there was a streaming event for the first away from home, I watched it the other day and omg it was so good!!!! I also didn't realise how expressive Louis' face is when he sings!!! I've watched quite a few livestreams this year and you obviously don't always get a clear picture and I was far away at my gig but it was so fun to see!!!

And when he said "what the fuck was I worried about?!" I was so proud like "go louis!!!"

Also made me want that 28 clothing green Jersey, even more lol. (I'm currently rewatching AOTV bc my dvd arrived today and also want that 3/4 zip he wore at his first US show back (dallas?))

Hi Anon! Welcome to the fandom ❤️ and of course it's ok, i love these kind of asks! Afhf21 is just so special to my heart. I was missing him so much and then he came up with a free festival as his first live show since the pandemic, looking like a dream wearing his self designed beautiful jersey (iconic!), singing his heart out 🥹. It was just so good. There are so many moments that i absolutely love from the streaming event like the sweet moment with his grandparents after the show, that scene when he was stress cleaning, his scenes with Helene (love he actually cares about his vocal performance and works on it he even had a vocal coach with him on tour and how he doesn't shy away from being vulnerable and actually shows us how nervous he was before the show), and of course his actual performance ❤️. I'm so bad at recommendations 😭 and tbh Louis' career was kind of held on pause for a long time so there wasn't a lot of content before walls' tour (right now is the best time to be a louie bc we have enough content, i can't tell you how hard it was to be a louie before walls' release 😭). Anyway, i think the other big thing that happened besides releasing his albums and tours is the live from London streaming show so if you haven't already, i'd recommend watching it (it's available on YouTube). You can watch the igtvs from ltwt too. These next ones are not big things that happened but interviews of his that i love like his breaking down walls interview he did for walls (it's up on his YouTube channel), the track by track for walls the album and for fitf. I love his interviews with Zach Sang and the fun ones like the ladbible ones and the wired interview. The GQ one (i think it's called actually me) he did from walls era and that la resistencia interview are one of my favorites i'm obsessed so you can watch those if you haven't already 🤗. You have THE aotv dvd (which also has bty studio version and fitf bonus tracks) i'm so jealous but good for you! What a nice thing to have 😍. And saw him live in concert ! You're living the dream ❤️. Also, you're absolutely right about the 3/4 zip he wore at Dallas, it's one of my favorites and i don't see enough appreciation for her 😒, if you want to and can afford it, you should get one when they release it, it's so pretty. Is it just me or am I the only one who thinks Secret Heart was on the first album that was scrapped, the one Steve, Liam and that reporter heard? It has more of a 1D sound and has shades of JLY & BTY w/the production, that radio sound Louis was going for before his, screw it in going to make the music I want (since I know it's not going to get promo no matter what) statement. I don't think it was ever intended/a consideration for Walls? Thoughts?

Secret Heart was co-written with Jamie Hartman around the same time as Walls and Kill My Mind, and registered in March 2019. The timing suggests it was written after 2017 (so after LT0).

I bet Louis started working with Jamie through Milk & Honey. Several other songwriters on Walls are associated with M&H.

I wonder whether the decision was between including Secret Heart on Walls instead of one of the other songs in the pop genre. My picks would be Defenceless or Always You. Louis said he was more inclined to include Defenceless after CCME in Madrid because fans liked it, and also included Always You for the fans. I think he had mostly outgrown Always You.

I like all these songs. I realize it was a really hard choice. Including Secret Heart would tip the balance toward a more 1D-sound, which Louis was moving away from. Still, it’s a shame a studio version of this song won’t see the light of day. It is a great LGBT anthem.

End of the Year This or That - Louis Version

Just Hold On or Don't Let It Break Your Heart : The simple message in this track is so eloquently worded that it’s bound to fill the most downhearted with at least a shred of hope which can then grow to the strength needed to overcome whatever heartbreak/obstacle that’s got you down. The absolutely smashing instrumentality is a definite bonus!

Back To You or Miss You : This one was hard to choose not gonna lie. I love them both! I think the only reason I chose BTY over MY my beloved (with peaky louis yumminess) is that on a personal level I can relate to it. Been there, in that toxic AF place where you stress me out you kill me you drag me down you fuck me up but my shit brain forgets all of that after two laughs I have with you, and we’re back to square one. Here we go again. (Gladly out of it now). I have to say I’m dying to hear Miss You live though!

Just Like You or Only The Brave : Choosing JLY over OTB feels a little bit like sinning because of the absolute iconic nature of OTB on a level that I can’t even begin to put into words. BUT hear me out, Just Like You - she’s so damn multilayered my mind is blown! The lyrics and message of course, but the music video made me ASCEND! There could be an entire two hour long documentary based off of just that one music video and the hundreds of different issues that have been highlighted in there! It’s pure pure genius, there’s no other word for it.

Fearless or Defenceless : My most played track according to my Spotify wrapped and for good reason. It’s the closest thing to a beautifully crafted diss track on that whole album. It’s out for blood. It’s saying fuck you without saying fuck you. It’s showing you the mirror. It’s showing you your painted picture of filth, rotting and decay when you thought you were immortal and above it all (Dorian Gray ref in case that wasn’t clear). It’s beyond beautiful! And he sounds ethereal on it!

Always You or Habit : The way this absolute bop could have been the summer anthem of 2020 had it been marketed properly and given the air time that it deserved! He sings it so well live too, I can totally imagine it killing it at festivals oh so well.

Too Young or We Made It : The message of hope after continued struggle is so strong in this one. I really really hope that he feels this in his core, he HAS made it, we have made it, despite every single reason and obstacle put in his path not to.

Kill My Mind or Walls : KMM my most beloved, my jam, my go to, my life’s theme song if I had to choose one! It’s the kind of music I NEED more of from him, the sound is right up my alley and the imagery is like my entire own personal brand. I resonate with it on another level! Can I please mention here that regarding Walls (which I also absolutely adore) turning the words “for every question why you were my because” which probably wasn’t written as a very positive lyric according to my own personal interpretation of the song, taking that and turning it into the absolute positivity of louies shouting that lyric to Louis and pointing at him whenever he performs it live and making it a positive for him, gives me absolute life. It’s what he’s earned!

Perfect Now or Two of Us : She’s beautiful. She’s heartfelt. She brings me to tears almost every time. And I’m so proud of him to be able to put all of that heartache in a song, with such beautiful words and imagery and promises to his future and past self.

Copy of a Copy of a Copy or Change : Once again, it’s iconic. It’s iconic not only because of the absolute brilliance of the lyrics or the absolute brilliance of HOW AMAZING he sounds on the Live from London version (it could literally be a studio version if it wanted, it’s that flawless), but mostly cuz it can be interpreted in so many different ways, every individual with their own individual issues can take solace from it. You’re not the only one. You’re not the first or last. This too shall pass. It’s been this way for ages. You’ll get through it. You’ll make it out.

Beautiful War or 7 : 7 is beautiful with such a power packed message BUTTTT Beautiful War you guys! Could anyone in their right mind have ever even imagined that there could be a version more beautiful and pure than the original by KOL? No not at all. But that’s the magic of Louis. He sings it like he OWNS that song. Like it’s not meant to be sung any other way than the way he does it. In love!

Drag Me Down or Through The Dark or Little Black Dress : Especially the punk ass way he did it during LFL! It was such a momentTM. Iconic. (I know I’ve used that word to death by now but I can’t find any other words that do justice to the way this man makes music and does all things)!

Live From London or Away From Home Festival : This is too hard! I’m not picking one. I absolutely love both for different reasons! LT Live from London was a day of hope in a time when EVERYONE needed at least a shred! Something anything to hold on to. And boy did he deliver! The entire set was so flawlessly performed that in my opinion it could have literally been studio versions of all those songs. He sounded absolutely amazing. And then fast forward to AFHF and that man somehow manages to sound even more beautiful! Not somehow, we know how! He showed us how, constant persistence, constant hard work, constantly working to better something that most of us felt was already flawless. Can’t even manage to put into words the pride that documentary made me feel for him. And then to top it all off the way that louies were able to interact with him! And him with them! You could just tell it made his heart swell with pride and gave him that feeling of sprouting wings, he felt like a god on that stage, as he should! And I cannot wait for him to feel that way every single night on tour! (take a shot for every time I’ve used an exclamation mark in this paragraph and you’ve got yourself a NYE drinking game)

As usual I’ve rambled on for ages on each of these. Once you get me started I don’t shut up. I can’t contain my fond & pride for this man and his music and his journey. So if you read through all of that, thank you 🤍

live from london or AFHF - it was such a wonderful experience and one i'll always cherish... it's louis' baby he worked so hard for it and he smashed it 😣 just. everything about it was super cool and i thoroughly enjoyed being part of the fandom in those times. from its announcement to waiting for the day to reading live tweets, watching livestreams from people attending and then the doc + concert livestream 🥺 it makes me wonder what i was missing from live from london bc i joined a little after that,,, but! it also makes me look forward to more projects from louis!!! so, faith in the future 💫 hehe

A Bit of a Rant...

I was catching up with my dash this morning, (since I was busy with my friend this past weekend), and I can’t help but rant now about a few things, (that will include some in-directing, but I honestly don’t give a fuck anymore):

1. I’m so livid at the continued mistreatment that Louis gets from the media, his label, and even some of his so-called “fans”. I don’t remotely see a problem pointing out the discrepancies between how Louis’s solo career is being handled, versus the other 1D guys, (especially Liam’s and Niall’s). I try to focus on the positive aspects as much as I can, but to turn a blind eye to the continuing inconsistencies in Louis’s promo regarding BTY and JLY doesn’t make any sense to me. The post that everyone was talking about earlier, from that one infamous Larrie Tumblr, is a prime example of how some so-called “Louis fans” don’t want to deal with what’s currently happening to Louis, and would rather live in an idealized, 2011-12 version of Larry fanfic, where Louis always supports Harry, (and never the other way around), and where there’s always a happy ending.

It’s one thing to write and read fanfic, but, at the end of the day, these are real fucking people, with real, fucked-up issues that they need to deal with. In addition, Louis is also contending with having to go up against a major corporation and that typically doesn’t usually end well. I’ve been a fan of other singers and actors, who had similar label/management/movie studio fights, and it’s always difficult and heartbreaking to watch. 

2. I don’t believe for one second that Louis has no fucks to give when it comes to his first solo album, (and that he only signed to make one, in order to not be the only member of 1D who hadn’t), that he doesn’t want to perform, (when the recent iHeart festival shows how much he loves being on stage, in front of an audience), and that he’s fine with how shitty his promo has been so far. I have no doubt that he does love songwriting and some of the BTS aspects of making music as well, but that doesn’t mean that’s all he wants, and takes away from his love of performing/touring.

3. Dear Matt at Buzzfeed...I never had a “Harry” phase, or really any other 1D member, it’s only ever been Louis. I fell in love with his voice, his lyrics, his personality, his looks...basically everything. It was never a question for me and I resent the hell out of the media’s need to erase Louis out of any aspect of the 1D equation. (looking at you too, OK magazine...) 

4. I will continue to vote for Louis to win the MTV EMA. I will continue to stream JLY, BTY, and JHO. I will continue to call them out when Sony/Syco/Epic/SJPR/JGG don’t do their jobs and, honestly, go out of their way to make things even more difficult for Louis. I will continue to do my best, in any other capacity at the moment, in order to help Louis succeed. Because he deserves it - not just because I’m a fan, but because of how talented, hard-working, smart, and kind he is, and how I will always love for more people to recognize this about him.
