#BIW STORY TIME

Note
please do inform us on what the family tree is :D and also how you came to be one family. i am very curious
Sit down or lay down and relax cause i am gonna tell you the whole entire story, of when i joined goon central up until now.
It was a fun afternoon (February 12 to be exact 🤓) i had family over and we were eating dinner and I got a message from @keervah asking if i wanted to be apart of the discord. when i saw that message my heart started racing 😰but I couldn't open Tumblr in front of my family 😓so I decided to open keers message later on, When i got home i knew i had to answer keer and so i did, I was so surprised they wanted me to join because tbh I've been eyeing them for a while, and I had already talked with keer beforehand on one of my older posts. But i was shocked and from then on Keer sent me the link and I joined.
Guys, i was so shy and nervous at first. My hands were shaking because i hadn't made online friends in over 2 years. But when i joined everyone greeted me warmly, I felt awkward at times since i was new, but as time passed and as I joined their banters i grew more comfortable and finally showed my true and crazy self. @jade-jini was the other person who wanted me to join alongside with keer and without the two of them requesting for me to join I would have never met anyone in Goon Central🥹.
As time past and our banter in the group chat grew i took note of everyone how they act, how they typed, and what their humor is like. (which thank godddd is similar to mine). I would always asked them questions about my nails and what I should do next and sent a hand reveal in the GC (lol) which from what I remembered, I had a couple of people going crazy over my hand 😅. That is where @kittyl1z came to be and simped over my hands (sorry for outing you Sienna) Sienna became a simp and had Jade gatekeep me from her. (Jade is a MAJOR gatekeeper yalls) She gatekept Sienna and i from eachother as Sienna kept trying to flirt her way to me.
Then out pops @lilacura, Lila and I bonded over nails and she helped me decide what to do ( white French tips 😎). Lila and I bonded so hard (??? why does this sound weird) that we took it to DMS and started talking nonsense. Then literally the next day we all decided to do a face reveal on the server. things went kindaaaaa crazy in there during that time. Soon enough i had two girls (Lila and Sienna) (Jade was still gatekeeping) fighting over me😰 and omg let me tell you I was so confused as to what was happening but of course, i went along with it ( for the plot) there were many banters between Lila and sienna.
Which eventually created a love triangle, mainlyyy since I was chatting up both of them 😗 at the same time (I know very messy of me). There were many banters, name calling, disapointment, and heart break through out this whole love triangle, but then Lila and i got married one random afternoon. How that lead up was that i teased that we should get married and she was like we're already married but i had no ring on my finger 🤨 so i was like wheres the ring????🤨then she proposed, then boom married. While sienna was being so sweet talking with me and all i did was break her heart 😔 (So sorry sienna).
Then news broke out through out goon central, then jade became Lila and I's daughter and since jade and Keer were twins 👯we had two daughters!! while trying to adopt keer and jade it TURNS OUTTTTT THEY WERE ALREADY TAKEN BY SOL @myouicieloz AND V @vlance (LIKE WTF) BUT IT ALSO TURNS OUT I BIRTH JADE(???) AND LILA BIRTH KEER (???) AND SOL IS MY SISTER! SINCE SOL IS MARRIED TO VLANCE THEY BOTH ADOPTED KEER AND JADE WAYYYYYY BFORE LILA AND I JOINED THE SERVER, THEN ONCE WE JOINED THE SERVER JADE WAS LIKE "MINE 👹" TO LILA AND I.
But we agreed to be her and keers birth parents 🤗 so, to sum up Lila and I are coparenting with Sol and Vlance 😇 Then jade is dating Kaye @wintersera and they have like 5 kids AND JADE WANTS MOREEEEEEE LIKE GIRL STOP BEFORE I NEUTER YOU!!!!🤨🤨 but everyday is an adventure and filled with love (lol) we banter and Im still as close as ever with sienna ( She still filrts with me till this day even tho she told me not to tell lila) 😊 ( im laughing writing this part 💀) Everything is great fun and fresh 😝 i have the LOML and kids and we also welcomed a new member, Lila and I's baby boy Bartholomew aka bart that mews aka bart, welcome him to the fam!
Tumblr media
Isn’t he precious 😊🥰🥰🥰
Jade and keer hates him 😪
but yes that practically what happened and the general family tree ( i still have no idea what this family tree is ) I gave you guys information yet no information at all since i kinda dont remember sorry its a mess like my brain atm but just know there was a lot of random banters throughout the server lol but it got us here today I hope you guys enjoyed this random story and not a ff LMFAOOOOO.

Hey Mike! First off, it makes me so happy to see you out there fighting with your writer friends to ensure they receive a decent living wage for the amazing work that they do.
As for my question, I would love to hear about some of the inspiration for making Before I Wake. It and Absentia were the last two of your films that I watched, and BIW just absolutely destroyed me. No other movie, including and especially a horror flick, has ever made me bawl like a baby like that. The entire tone of the film is so spot-on, and the climax of the nightmare monster “dissolving” from its evil form after being embraced…. To me that scene just perfectly encapsulates what it’s like to be a parent, and human; sometimes we just need someone to hold us and let us know things will be all right. We spend so much of our time making sure that our children feel loved and cared for, that sometimes we forget about ourselves. And you just fucking nailed it, my dude.
Like I said, I would LOVE to read any backstory or inspiration that you have for this film! It’s so beautiful and underrated.
On the WGA front, don't be too impressed with me - I mean, I'm a professional writer, I've been a member of the WGA since Absentia, so I'm out there fighting for myself as much as everyone else.
But on the Before I Wake front, you know I very rarely get asked to talk about this one, so I'm happy to... fair warning for another long post!
Before I Wake was originally titled Somnia, which is latin for "dreams." It was part of an unofficial trilogy of sorts, comprised of Absentia, Oculus and Somnia. All three of those movies were meant to work together as a thematic triptych.
Ultimately, Before I Wake was brutally sabotaged by its own studio, who drastically undermined it creatively and then destroyed any hope of a meaningful release. It remains a particularly heartbreaking chapter of my career... but a film I have and will always have tremendous affection for.
A lot of people think that Somnia was made after Hush and Ouija: Origin of Evil, just before Gerald's Game, but this is entirely incorrect. It was actually the second "real" movie I ever made, and was actually shot before Oculus was even released.
The basic premise of Somnia focused around a little boy whose dreams manifested physically in the world around him, and was an original concept I carried around for a few years before Oculus got picked up by Intrepid Pictures. In fact, I've talked about my first meeting at Intrepid, where I pitched a few ideas that were rejected... Somnia was the first one I pitched. Trevor Macy opted to pursue Oculus that day, but he ended up producing Somnia right after.
This unofficial "latin trilogy" seemed to fit together well. Absentia was a somber and bleak look at the loss of hope, Oculus was more thrilling dive into the labyrinth of past trauma, and Somnia was meant to take that loss and trauma and end the triptych on a note of hope and healing.
In fact, the script for Somnia was written before Oculus was greenlit. On the page, it was my favorite of the three. I was very taken with the story of little Cody and his personal boogeyman, and of the revelation at the end of the story... that with understanding, even the most monstrous of our fears can lose their destructive power.
Cody's birth mother had died of cancer, and he had seen her just before her death. That final image of her, as well as a misunderstanding about the pronunciation of the word "cancer" had led to the creation of a monster in his mind, who he called the "Canker Man"... a gaunt figure who took away people that he loved. When he finally learns the truth about his monster, and about his mother, he begins to understand it all... and the monster loses its awful powers as empathy and understanding take root.
While Absentia finished its festival rounds and Oculus inched its way toward production, Somnia was my first script taken out to market by my new agency. I had signed with APA just as Intrepid engaged me on Oculus, which was my first studio writing and directing job. Jeff Howard and I finished our first draft of Oculus and turned it in to Intrepid, and immediately turned around and started writing Somnia.
The script got some interesting attention. While some of the more mainstream horror companies balked at the emotional ending and preferred a story that was "more about a boy and his monster" than the emotional wrap-up we insisted on, others understood it right away.
Elijah Wood and his producing partner Daniel Noah sought me out when they read the script. We met for drinks in Venice and I was absolutely starstruck, and we've remained friends ever since.
Jada Pinkett Smith was another big fan of the script, which led to a surreal afternoon at her stunning home where we talked about the story at length and watched an early cut of Oculus in her home theater. Will Smith joined us toward the end of the meeting, and I had a difficult time speaking.
I've written before about the drama surrounding Oculus' premiere and eventual sale to Relativity Media, so I won't rehash that now, but as Oculus raced toward release, Trevor Macy at Intrepid made an offer to produce Somnia for Relativity and I eagerly accepted. My first "real" movie was going to be released wide in theaters, and the same studio was going to double-down on me - Somnia was greenlit by Relativity for a big domestic theatrical release. We'd pre-sell our foreign territories on this promise, and they eagerly snatched the movie up. This was my own Hollywood dream, coming to life.
It wouldn't work out that way. In fact, Somnia would turn out to be the first nightmare of my career.
Tumblr media
It started well enough. We had filmed Oculus in Daphne, Alabama, taking advantage of an aggressive tax rebate. We would do the same with Somnia, bringing back a lot of my Oculus crew and shooting in and around Fairhope. We began shooting in the fall of 2013, less than a year after we'd wrapped Oculus.
We hit the ground running. Very little time had passed since we wrapped Oculus, and the movie hadn't come out yet, so at first it felt a lot like we were just picking up where we left off.
Tumblr media
Bruce Larsen, who also carved the Oculus mirror, working on a prototype of the Canker Man.
We had casting challenges. I was still a relatively unproven director, my first studio film hadn't been released, and this was an ambitious script. After a lengthy search (driven by foreign pre-sales, a process I knew nothing about and now quite detest), Kate Bosworth signed on to play Jessie, and Thomas Jane - who I admired greatly from his recent work in The Mist - joined the production as Mark. (Funny story - Tom arrived with hair down his shoulders, and vehemently didn't want to cut it. That disagreement put us off on an awkward foot, and I ultimately conceded the point to him... though I do regret that now.)
The major discovery was 7 year-old Jacob Tremblay as Cody. Jake had only made one movie before this, he had a small role in The Smurfs 2. His self-tape audition came out of nowhere and we knew was a a phenomenal talent. Right after we wrapped, I got a call that he was being considered for a movie called Room, and we shared some footage to help him get the part (that movie would establish him as one of the biggest and most sought after child actors in the world... but we had him first.)
We were committed to practical effects wherever possible, and creating a striking suit for our monster. It all felt like it was going to work. But the shoot would prove to be much more challenging than we anticipated.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The shoot itself was challenging for the typical reasons. There was a little creative tension on set with particular actors, we didn't have enough money to pull off our more ambitious visual moments, and we were forced to remove several production days at the last minute, throwing our schedule into a bit of chaos.
But none of these issues were particularly unusual for a lower budget film, and while it was more challenging and frustrating than Oculus had been, overall the shoot was just fine. I felt that our third act was pretty drastically under budgeted, and what was scripted to be a deep dive into a child's imagination was stripped down to a few vines on the walls and some moths... but other than that, I don't really have much to complain about.
Tumblr media
(Fun fact: it was also the first time I would work with Annabeth Gish. We were fast friends, and though she was only with us for a few days, I knew we'd end up working together again.)
Tumblr media
We wrapped the movie, I got to editing, and all seemed fine. It was a unique story, much less horror-centric and much more of a fairy-tale. This was, of course, by design. There was a delicate vibe to the whole thing, anchored on Jacob's arresting performance, and a shadowy magic. It felt innocent, wondrous, and ultimately cathartic.
Then, Relativity got their first look at the cut, and the problems started in earnest.
We had been clear (and aligned, I'd thought) about what kind of movie this was. But almost immediately, despite these conversations, the studio began to push the film more and more toward being a traditional horror movie.
We had designed a practical monster in the Canker Man. Our creature was tactile, practical, and - we believed - appropriately simple. After all, it was meant to have come from the mind of a child.
The studio kicked hard, and the directive came down to try to make the monster "much scarier."
There wasn't a lot we could do; we'd shot what we'd shot, after all. The decision was made to take our footage of our practical monster and drastically alter it using visual effects.
The Canker Man would be digitally warped and molded into a skeletal, grinning creature. The visual effects artists would be using footage that wasn't captured with the intention of being altered that way, so a lot of the artifice would be obvious. He'd become a little rough around the edges. We told ourselves that this would be okay... it was a dream, after all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Early camera tests of our practical Canker Man suit
Tumblr media
The final VFX-enhanced monster This began to nudge our monster away from our core concept. While our practical suit would always need some help from VFX, this was now tilting into an area that strayed from the true identity of the creature.
Another major sticking point was the plot itself.
In the movie, Cody's adopted mother Jessie is shocked to find a physical manifestation of her deceased son, Sean, after Cody sees his picture. She then goes about trying to "rebuild" her dead son in the imagination of her new foster child, hoping to see and interact with him more... "I just want to hear his voice."
This morally questionable exploitation of Cody was, to put it mildly, the entire point of the story. Jessie goes too far, and when she finally resorts to drugging Cody to force him to sleep in the hopes of seeing her lost son, he is unable to wake up from a nightmare and her husband is killed.
Jessie spends the rest of the film clawing her way back to redemption, and having to atone for what she's done, all while finally focusing on Cody's past and healing instead of her own.
Tumblr media
As a character, Jessie does things we do not agree with, and they have serious, permanent consequences. And the moral murkiness of this was, frankly, the point.
Tumblr media
The studio was flinching hard. "It makes her unlikeable," they argued. There was a push to try to back off of this, and to pull the punch... sure, she could exploit him somewhat, but they wanted to pull it back. Kate Bosworth's performance began to be altered in the cutting room, flinching away from some of the more decisive choices in favor of a more watered-down, morally generic heroine.
This middle ground would prove to be ill-advised.
As we were battling over the edit, something else happened. Oculus was released in theaters in April 2014.
If the movie was a huge hit, it would mean I would likely win more of these arguments, and Somnia would be restored to something closer to my vision. If the movie bombed, the studio could (and likely would) run ramshot over Somnia, twisting it into a more generic studio horror story and jettisoning things they didn't quite understand.
Ultimately, the movie performed... moderately. It was kind of right in the middle. It wasn't a failure, but it wasn't a hit either. Both sides dug in. And suddenly, Somnia was being twisted into something between two tones.
Citing the "disappointing" performance of Oculus (which, frankly, did just fine), the studio insisted that we write and shoot some additional "scares". Among them was one of the worst studio notes I'd ever receive (well, at least until I started working for Netflix.)
The entire premise of the film was that, when Cody slept, his dreams would manifest physically. When he woke up, they would vanish. This was, to put it bluntly, our only rule.
The note came in: "We need a scare set piece to occur when he is awake."
Now, I can't understate how nonsensical this is. It defied the entire premise of the movie. Their rationale (such as it was) was that the audience wouldn't ever be frightened when Cody was awake, because they knew the monsters only came when he was asleep.
"Well yeah," I said. "That's why it's important that the movie isn't just about scares."
But they were insistent. If a monster showed up while Cody was awake, that would be "truly thrilling" and "catch the audience off-guard."
It was the equivalent of saying "the shark in Jaws only attacks people if they're in the water. We need an attack to occur on land." I mean, that would really catch the audience off-guard.
I had no idea how to address this note.
It was early in my career, I didn't have a theatrical hit under my belt, and I didn't have the ammunition to fight it. So I had to address it somehow, and it had to satisfy the studio, or else we may not get our theatrical release after all.
So I ended up writing a scene where Cody is wide awake, only to be attacked in his bed by the specter of a deceased bully (a previous victim of one of his dreams).
How the fuck were we going to make this make any sense? Well, we had to write a whole other scene - much earlier in the film - where a therapist explains the concept of "waking dreams." Jay Karnes (who was a lovely person and one hell of a good sport) had to randomly say "you know, some people can dream while they're awake" to Bosworth, desperately trying to set up this moment.
It doesn't quite work, to say the least. Cody looks under his bed, sits up, and is attacked by this eye-less specter. Then, he's dragged screaming under his bed, until the attack just... stops, for some reason.
We filmed it, and I thought it was the stupidest thing I'd ever shot (it wasn't, though - the stupidest thing I've ever shot remains the on-screen stalking and murder of a cat in the pilot of Midnight Mass, a truly braindead scene that Netflix insisted on adding.)
Along with this scene, which would become the crux of Relativity's trailer, we shot several other random scares that were peppered throughout the movie. Now, this wasn't enough to tip the film entirely into being a horror film... just enough to make it exist awkwardly in between two genres.
It got worse. The addition of all this new "horror" material made the film longer (go figure), so the directive came down to begin removing other elements to make room. Those elements were character development and context.
The cut began to get bumpy. The fairy-tale tone of most of our original footage was at odds with the overt horror tone the studio was insisting upon. Every time we tested one of these cuts, the audience was understandably confused... they really loved the concept, they really loved Jacob, and they all loved the ending revelation - but along the way, what was this movie? Was it a horror film? Was it a drama? A fantasy?
Even with this, our test screenings were actually pretty good. We were testing in the high sixties and seventies - which is, infuriatingly, right in that middle zone: not good enough to kill the studio interference, but not bad enough to let them take over.
So we kept fighting. And we kept cutting. And we kept testing. And with each screening, the studio forced it further and further into this no-man's land.
There were a few victories, though. Danny Elfman came on board to collaborate with the Newton Brothers on our score. Some of our non-horror sequences, like a scene involving Christmas-light butterflies, were being called out by our test audiences in the best ways. But the tug-of-war over the basic identity of the film was tipping decidedly toward the more horror-centric approach.
Finally, the studio came after the title. Somnia was too confusing, they said. Nobody knew what it meant. So, we added a scene where Jay Karnes - once again having to naturally sell force-fed exposition - literally defines the world "somnia" during a therapy scene (these therapy scenes were basically being used to spoon-feed material to the audience.)
That wasn't enough, though. The studio began workshopping other titles, and they landed on perhaps my most hated of all of the options: the ultra-generic Before I Wake, a title already used by a handful of low-budget thrillers over decades. We conceded after it was made clear that it wasn't really up to me in this case, and we limped into what I consider to be the worst title of my career.
With our new uneven tone, a new and "improved" monster, and a groan inducing title, they finally agreed to stop messing with the movie and honor their commitment to releasing it wide.
You tell yourself a lot of things in this business, and I told myself that the heart of the story - the revelation about where the concept of the Canker Man came from - was still intact, so all would be well. Viewers would be able to look past some of the bumps because the payoff was worth it.
But we didn't know what else was happening at Relativity.
They announced the release date for the film, posters started showing up in theaters, and we were anxiously awaiting our big wide theatrical release... when suddenly everything stopped.
We didn't know it yet, but Relativity Media was having huge financial problems. They were on the verge of bankruptcy, as a matter of fact, and though they weren't admitting it yet, internally they were in a state of absolute chaos.
Without warning or explanation, the studio moved us off our date. The movie wouldn't be released after all. We immediately knew something was very wrong, despite Ryan Kavanaugh's insistence that our date was "just a bad date," and that he'd moved the movie in order to make it "an even bigger success." No, this whole thing stunk. It stunk bad.
They set another date, and we watched and waited. But no trailers. No marketing. And then... that date was pushed as well. Again, they insisted everything was fine. But we knew. Something was deeply wrong with the company, and they were lying to us.
Some of this played out publicly. Kavanaugh and I got into a spat on Twitter when I suggested that the studio wasn't able to release the movie theatrically after all (I still don't regret saying this, and man oh man, was I proven right).
Meanwhile, our international distributors were scrambling. We'd sold a lot of international territories off the promise of our big theatrical release in North America, and they weren't going to wait forever. By the third time Relativity pushed our release date, the whole house of cards fell down, and various international territories started releasing the film haphazardly on whatever platforms they could.
There was no coordinated release strategy. Suddenly, the film was just available in Argentina, for example. Or it was On Demand in Russia. I remember being shocked when a German Blu-ray appeared on eBay without warning.
There was no rollout to critics, no coordination at all. Within a few weeks, it was pirated and available on torrent sites everywhere. And without a proper press rollout, the only reviews available were trickling in from these international markets, or random blogs in other countries. A slew of reviews - many of which were from obscure blogs in Russia and Turkey, not even written in English - hit Rotten Tomatoes. With no counterpoint from any credible critics, we debuted with a 30% rotten rating.
It would stay this way for years.
Relativity finally admitted the truth, declared bankruptcy, and went to court. Our movie was dragged down into the vortex with it. Our abysmal tomatometer score suggested that the movie wasn't released because it was bad, not because the studio had gone bankrupt. This assumption stuck to us like glue as the film languished in bankruptcy court.
Heartbroken, we turned our attention elsewhere. I would write and direct both Hush and Ouija: Origin of Evil before the whole distribution saga of Before I Wake was finally resolved.
In the years that followed, very little would be said about Before I Wake, and whatever was said was absolutely not positive... how bad must this movie be, after all, to be so unceremoniously pulled from the release? Some theaters just left the poster up, still saying "Coming Soon." I know of one theater in LA that had it up for over a year.
By the time Relativity finally settled their mess, and the film was unceremoniously given back to us with the most lackluster apology imaginable, and our chances of a domestic theatrical distribution were entirely obliterated. The film was already available online through piracy and a tiny handful of foreign blogs had defined our critical reception. No other studio would touch it.
We were able to arrange one screening of the film once it was unencumbered... we had a single showing at Fantastia in Montreal, a festival I adore. Instead of a huge worldwide theatrical release, the movie would play exactly one time, to one audience.
It was sold out, it played wonderfully, and it remains one of my favorite screenings of my career.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Mitch Davis, Fantasia's artistic director, Kate Bosworth, and my wife Kate Siegel.
In the years that had passed since we shot Before I Wake, Kate Siegel and I had gotten married. At the premiere, and in the picture above, Kate was pregnant with our son.
We named him Cody, after the little boy in Somnia... the little boy whose dreams came true.
In 2016, Netflix acquired the North American rights to Before I Wake, and quietly dumped it on the service. There was no premiere, no rollout, no screeners sent to critics. One day it just appeared on the service without fanfare, as Netflix does to so many titles.
It didn't even appear on the New Releases tab.
A few critics found the movie on their own, and slowly some new reviews started to trickle out. Bloody Disgusting led the charge, discussing how the film had been wrongfully maligned over the years, and correcting identified it as a "haunted fairy tale" that was being handicapped by the expectations that it was a horror film.
Our tomatometer began to slowly rise. After some time, it tipped out of "rotten" into "fresh"... and today stands comfortably at 66%. Those early, malicious reviews are still there, the movie is still scarred by them... but despite Relativity (and eventually Netflix's) efforts to rebrand the movie as a straight horror film, most critics were able to see it for what it truly was.
Our audience was as well, for the most part. Some viewers yawning their way through the Netflix original horror feature section would find it, and get something maybe just a little more thoughtful than they were expecting. A few people reached out to me to talk about losing their own loved ones to cancer, or about how the sweeter elements of the story impacted them. I've always been grateful for that.
But ultimately, the movie was just brutalized by its studio. I've never again had so much damage inflicted on a project by a creative partner and supposed collaborator. And while Netflix did the bare minimum when it came to releasing the movie, I am still very grateful that that they even did that much... if it wasn't for Netflix picking it up, I think there's every chance Before I Wake would have never been made available at all.
I'm proud of the movie. It's not perfect, by any means - it was an ambitious sophomore effort and I had a lot to learn about a lot of things - but it has some beautiful ideas and some moments that really work. I see its flaws clearly, too, and while I tell myself some were out of my control (like the awkward scares forced on us by Relativity), others were most certainly entirely on me. Not everything works, and that's okay.
But man, Jacob Tremblay is phenomenal in this movie. And I absolutely adore the final ten minutes.
My son Cody is almost 7 now, exactly as old as Jacob was when he was cast to play his namesake. I hope Cody's dreams come true; that's why we named him what we named him.
Sometimes, our dreams don't come true quite how we might expect.
Hollywood is just kinda like that, I guess.

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....Thanks....
You're all good! This is the first time I've been asked this. I'm usually terrible with favorites so I always feel like I don't pick the "best" in hindsight, but I'll try to be as accurate as possible. These will also be in no particular order since they all occupy such different areas.
(edit: I just realized in my incredible morning brain state that this said male or female, but I only read the female part haha. So this is just the female lineup, I guess).
Iwakura Lain - Serial Experiments Lain
Tumblr media
Lain's a character that has, and will always remain enigmatic. Subjectivity and personal experience remain intertwined with works like Serial Experiments Lain, so what each individual takes away from it will change. Personally, what makes me love Lain is her desperation to communicate, to connect with the people around her. To make friends, to do fun things with them, to understand the people that comprise her life. But that desire spirals, she gets absorbed (like so many do) and becomes something else entirely. Fracturing and separating herself, spreading those instances across the internet in a desperate way to connect. For existing prior to essentially all forms of social media, it depicts the struggle and addiction that trouble countless people in freakishly accurate fashion.
Iwakura Mitsumi - Skip and Loafer
Tumblr media
Had to put them next to each other on this list haha. Iwakura Mitsumi though. I don't hate the approach of a lot of Shojosei in terms of high school slice of life/romance, but I find much more to love with the more grounded ones than the more fantastical, just a personal preference. Anyways, Mitsumi. She's just the perfect representation of high school life. A dash of confidence, a good bit of deep seated anxiety, lots of stress over school and friends, but a positive and hopeful outlook in spite of her stumbling and struggles that's wonderfully accented by blossoming feelings of love. She just occupies a space that is very rare these days, so of course I love her.
Ryougi Shiki - The Garden of Sinners
Tumblr media
Okay, hot take since (spoiler) Saber's not going to be on the list. I just haven "completed" Saber's story if that makes sense. I've read a lot, experienced a lot, but I haven't gotten 100% of it like I have with Shiki. That said, Shiki's story. I mean, as a character they're so damn hard to really capture. After all, there's more than one of them, and their story is told through the experiences of others. Shiki as a character, and The Garden of Sinners as a series, just holds a special place in my heart as Nasu's first real creative work that remains untethered by the requirements of a visual novel. If Nasu's work on the VNs is the base level, then The Garden of Sinners stands a cut above from start to finish.
Hatsuseno Alpha - Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou
Tumblr media
A robot that is startlingly human, but surprisingly childlike. Alpha was is just the perfect vehicle to experience YKK through. Vast understanding and interest, but meaningful naivete and curiosity. She explores a world peacefully accepting its death, and is able to pull such beautiful moments from it. She doesn't struggle or bemoan the end, but rather takes it in stride and focuses on the beauty of humanity, how it's adapted, what's been lost and what's been created in its stead. It brings it all together under this character that is so deeply passionate about exploring life even under these circumstances, that you can't help but feel an indescribable warmth in her story.
Biwa - Heike Monogatari
Tumblr media
Okay, maybe I'm cheating a little bit with Biwa here, but it's just a character that I think is incredibly beautiful. Witnessing the murder of her father, she's taken in by a clan doomed to death, where a man possesses a similar ability to Biwa. Together, she struggles to create the family she never had, all the while forced to come to terms with their deaths. She fights tooth and nail to keep them alive, but her attempts are futile. In the end, she is given her adoptive father's ability and completes what one might call the "cycle". Seeing life and death, the eternal struggle that will never change, she experiences her life, her family, her future and past to its fullest, and commits her life to telling the story of the Heike that she was so fond of. It's a beautiful story centered around Biwa's experiences, and her fear of death and not having a family, truly wonderful stuff. Also Aoi Yuuki kills it as Biwa.
Kusanagi Motoko - Ghost In The Shell
Tumblr media
This was baby's first big kid series for me. I'd always watched anime here and there, but mostly things like Bleach/Naruto/DBZ. Ghost in The Shell was the first really big series I'd dip my toes into via those 4 minute YouTube videos at 480p. Kusanagi's nature as the bridge between technology and humanity is endlessly explored and just such a great idea, that through the countless (good) iterations, there's a wealth of her to experience. Undoubtedly an iconic series, and one that's certainly remembered very fondly by me.
Kirigoe Mima - Perfect Blue
Tumblr media
Mima's an incredible character driven to the psychological breaking point. Under the scrutiny and pressure of being an idol, the facade begins to crack and what seeps out from the gaps is nothing short of incredible. Satoshi Kon remains a wizard in what he did with his works, and for me, Mima's character in Perfect Blue is the pinnacle of that. An implicit story of the stress and strain placed on idols (and the entertainment industry at large) by those that string them up and sell the souls of these girls, Perfect Blue and Mima remain in a realm of their own in a lot of ways.
Nozomi - Sonny Boy
Tumblr media
Well as they say, the proof is in the pudding, and the pudding in this case is Nozomi's name. Translating from Japanese it means "wish" or "desire" in English, and is the personification of Nozomi's role in Sonny Boy. As close to a catalyst as one can be, she spurs on the wishes of the characters around her, providing the foundation for our main character Nagara to grow and develop. In the end, the desires of each individual can be connected to Nozomi, even in her death. She's arguably more central to the plot of Sonny Boy than Nagara, so of course I see her as a deeply special character.
Kamikoshi Sorawo - Otherside Picnic
Tumblr media
A somewhat different pick to help round out the list. Sorawo Kamikoshi, and Otherside Picnic at large, are certainly things that I don't think most people would fall in love with. But I did. The vitriol that her character expresses, the toxicity and self hatred and destruction. Her character is a very damaging and "bad" one, but that's what I love about it. There's no grand scheme behind Sorawo's personality, or any ideal that her character chases. She follows the whims and curiosities of her life as she willingly casts herself into the abyss of the Otherside alongside Toriko, and along the way, she learns to slowly grow and improve as a person while maintaining her core personality.
Osaki Nana - Nana
Tumblr media
The duality of Nana as a character is just so well done to me. A character with two sides isn't anything special, but I think the way that Yazawa approaches her as a character, and introduces those cracks in her façade and the struggle that they represent is just really, really good. It has me really desperate for Yazawa to return from hiatus and continue on with Nana.
And that's the list. I know I've left off characters like Tohru or other massively popular (and well written) leads and characters from shojosei series, but a lot of what I desire out of a character can't quite be found in a lot of what ends up popular and translated (and what I tend to remember) I feel. If you take a look at the list, for example, you'll find that the majority of my favorites are from older series, as well as ones that feature more "tragic" or "twisted" characters. Personally, I find a flower most beautiful after you've understood how it's wilted and withered before it fights to bloom once more. Endless blooms that grant an eternal summer are undeniably beautiful, but that beauty tends to lack context and in turn can become simplicity. So that's my list, as imperfect and everchanging as it is. If I'm asked once more in a year, it will probably look startlingly different, but that's how these things will go with me.

Note
The fact is that in the series the main characters are Rhaenyra and, fuck Alice Hightower, disgusts me so much.
If there are two main characters at the dance, it's very clearly Rhaenyra and Daemon.
Rhaenyra is the main character in this story, and Daemon the second, in addition to being the main male character.
They are the main characters.
Seriously, Alicent is inactive during the war and we hardly hear about her. It's ridiculous.
I'll add that there's a few other things that are so annoying, which is that they sell Rhaenyra and Alicent as the two main characters, but every time it's Olivia who's usually the center of the pictures, Emma not even close to her, strewn aside as if Emma was actually a supporting character.
Here is an example :
https://www.google.com/search?q=hotd+cast&client=ms-android-samsung-ga-rev1&prmd=insv&sxsrf=AJOqlzU_M61y91EyW4gpjJBzAgcSaEicAQ:1678596566317&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi8x7nAy9X9AhW3YKQEHTuZDoEQ_AUoAXoECAEQAQ&biw=360&bih=648&dpr=3#imgrc=-FE24HqCdC3BHM&lnspr=W10=
The favoritism is so obvious.
If we are just saying "main characters", the TV's main characters are Rhaenyra (#1), Daemon, Alicent, and Aemond. If we are going by book series, it's those people plus Aegon II and Alicent.
But the protagonist of the story at large is Rhaenyra (EDIT: and Daemon) and her antagonists are Alicent and Aegon II: more the latter during the war, and the former before the war. (EDIT: When I say before vs after, I refer to how Alicent becomes a secondary antagonist after she calls the council and Aegon the Elder takes the helm.)
It's not about who is "good" but about focus. But at the same time, it's also true that Rhaenyra is not the evil that needs smiting -- it is through Alicent's internalized misogyny and Book!ambition that Rhaenyra loses and women in Westeros lose whatever else respect that could have had or incrementally gained through the event of a female ruler, a woman being put into a position over men and that being naturalized as it should have been.
So yes, there is no argument for why Alicent should have been the most central character alongside or sometimes before Rhaenyra. Because this story is not about Alicent's victimhood, it's about Rhaenyra's degradation and loss of power at Alicent's hands as well as the Westerosi patriarchy's (represented through Aegon II).
The marketing is clearly green-flavoured, and it leaves such a sour taste for me. Like corruption.
NOTE: look at reblogs for a reconsideration about canon!Daemon.

season 2 finale thoughts (spoilers!!)
JADE
OK so first things first—i love him sm T_T seeing julie in danger really affected him and he went into the fucking tunnels for her ??? NO ONE is allowed to call this guy selfish anymore okay. now that being said
that's NOT tom!!!! and that's not abby!!!! and that wasn't khatri!!!!!! i hope the small "conversation" (boyd left him on read lmao) on the porch is the start of some jade and boyd plot thread for s3 because they need to talk about this. i wonder if more people will start seeing dead people in s3? i wonder if jade will see tobey...
anyway those visions are clearly trying to manipulate them. the khatri and tom ones alone could pass as neutral but the abby one this episode? hell no!! the vision was trying to convince boyd that the kind thing to do was to let them die 💀💀💀 i wonder if this is also what christopher saw?
and wtf was up with the angkhooey kids! the fuck were they doing in the tunnels! tabitha already saw one of them down there at the beginning of the season but it's really interesting that jade saw the same thing tabitha saw... that's definitely new! he also confirmed that his visions were showing him real things when he touched the ventriloquist doll... which we already knew, but what does that say about the soldiers? all the stuff about the stories... much to think about there 🤔
anyway. enough praise and lore now it's time to scold yes SCOLD this man for going down there ALONE !!! helloooo visions people you should not be going places on your own that's like seeing things 101 i should know about that. final thought: hilarious how jade spends time with tabby and is now seeing the kids, spends 5 minutes with boyd and is now seeing dead people... he keeps catching stuff, he's an empath fr
TABITHA
ok let me start by saying i think this is possibly the best direction they could've gone with the character development on the show. the GAPING HOLE that tabby's absence is going to leave???? for her children and most importantly for jim since he's lately been making an enemy of pretty much everyone else? she's the only one that's really gotten through both victor and jade too... her going missing is going to be so fucking palpable
i posted a theory that jade might be getting out of fromville in the finale right after watching ep9 because i figured that if someone had the resources to do anything from the outside it would be jade with his money and access to tech, but i guess my love for jade was just blinding me because this makes a lot more narrative sense
i've been seeing people speculate that tabitha is going to find eloise and i'm suscribing to that. she's got the lunchbox to prove she knew victor in case eloise lost her memory or something—but i have no idea how the two of them might be able to do anything. it's not gonna be easy
we can't even jump to the conclusion that eloise actually made it out. i think she did make it to the tower (victor's mom probably got her in the tree before the creatures got her) but the glass wasn't broken before the biw pushed tabby so i see no proof that anyone else walked the same steps all the way through before her
i can't stress this enough btw i need —need— jim and jade to become friends like jim's gonna have no choice but to lean on people outside of his family now and his recent antics got a lot of people pretty upset. jim and jade have a lot in common including caring for tabby so i can see them teaming up to look for her at the very least. jim's gonna have to accept victor now whether he likes it or not and thank god for mama liu because without her i think all three of these men would be fucked and i mean it. can they even cook i don't think so
i could talk about these dynamics literally forever (and i will) but now its time to move on to the next
REGGIE
ngl i kind of get him like no one was treating him like they would've treated a main character after such a devastating event i can kind of see why he snapped all things considered. he was right to blame boyd too but look at least boyd was trying, boyd taking on his gambles is what got them the talismans and what got a nightmare creature dead, he's one fucking man okay give him a break
i was TERRIFIED during the wedding scene it was so beautiful (the vows really got to me) but i kept expecting gunshots to interrupt it like i legit thought reggie was gonna somehow manage to kill everyone downstairs or a bunch of people at least. thank GOD he was dumb enough to go for boyd first that's like going straight for the boss in a videogame
also whats with the throat slicing in this show istg everyone here dies of a sliced throat lmaooo is it really that easy to kill someone or to get killed? unsettling. i'm gonna start wearing a neck brace everywhere. they should sell plate armor chokers i'd get one
FINAL THOUGHTS
(EDIT: deleting the bit i wrote on kenny and kristi because regardless of how i feel about their situation as a sapphic woman i don't want to add to the anti-mari/kristi hate going around rn. i want to make it clear that i love both kristi and marielle individually and as a couple and nothing i say about the kenny/kristi situation is meant to imply that kristi should not be prioritizing marielle. this is a serious topic and i'm really sorry that i've been shitposting about it carelessly as if the larger context didn't matter when it does <\3)

Since you said you needed Home School to be at least a little gay: First of all, same. Secondly, I think it's likely that in such a big cast there's at least one character that's queer, especially since this is a show about abused kids, and from the flashbacks we've seen so far, every kid's abuse so far has been a different shade (ableism in Pennueng's case, sexism in Fuji's, neglect in Phleng's, etc.) so it wouldn't be out of left field if one of the kids' brand of abuse was homophobia (as you said, this is gmmtv). Do you have any theories as to which character could end up being lgbt, btw? As much as I like the idea of PhlengBiw, I don’t think it'll be either of them. My money's on Jean because there were moments where I got the vibes that he might be into Hugo but idk. What do you think?
I did absolutely say that Home School should be a little gay and I would not be surprised if one of the characters was, in fact, queer to add homophobia to the list of parental issues.
Now, as to which character... I could see Jean. Honestly, he's perfectly likely. I'd rule out Mek or Mork because I'm fairly sure their issue is going to be their parents pitting them against each other actively
But active theories beyond 'sure, could be him'? No. I don't have anything active yet because a) I feel like I need more time with some of these characters to make predictions and b) I want it to be Tibet because he's already one of my favorite characters and I would love that for him.
I also don't really suspect it'll be Biw. Whatever her issue is, I suspect it has more to do with her bows and sometimes more childish choices than her sexuality but that is just a guess. But, pfft, don't let that stop you. Never let canon stop you from enjoying a pairing.
So... to be clear that I don't really have a strong prediction yet is to be clear that I don't. But I could see Jean or Tibet or could be Biw! Lots of choices remain and a lot of that depends on how the story is handled.
But I do really strongly suspect that we will get homophobia from at least one set of parents. Because it is GMMTV and it fits in the theming they're doing with each set of parents having a different issue with their perfectly amazing child.

Silver Surfer and Flash, iconic superheroes from the Marvel and DC Comics universes respectively, stand out with their unique powers, backgrounds, and narrative styles. The Silver Surfer, alter ego of Norrin Radd, is a cosmic entity in the Marvel Universe. Infused with the Power Cosmic by Galactus, he possesses superhuman strength, durability, and the ability to manipulate energy. His mode of cosmic transportation is the iconic silver surfboard, allowing him to soar through space at incredible speeds. The Silver Surfer is characterized by a contemplative and philosophical nature, often grappling with profound existential questions. His cosmic journeys serve as a reflection on the human condition and the vastness of the universe, making him a complex and introspective character. On the other hand, DC Comics' Flash, whether embodied by Barry Allen or Wally West, draws his superhuman speed from the Speed Force. With the ability to run at speeds faster than light, phase through objects, and manipulate time, the Flash is a dynamic force in the DC Universe. Known for his witty and lighthearted personality, the Flash brings humor and a sense of joy to the superhero narrative. His adventures are often grounded in Earth's dynamics, dealing with both street-level crime-fighting and world-threatening challenges. While both characters share a thematic connection to speed, their stories unfold in vastly different contexts. The Silver Surfer's cosmic explorations delve into profound philosophical themes, exploring the existential questions of existence against the backdrop of the cosmos. In contrast, the Flash's vibrant, fast-paced heroics add an element of levity and humor to the superhero genre, with a focus on protecting Earth and its inhabitants. The Silver Surfer and the Flash represent the diverse storytelling approaches of Marvel and DC Comics. Whether contemplating the mysteries of the universe or bringing a sense of joy to the world of superheroes, these characters showcase the depth and breadth of storytelling within the comic book medium. https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-oppo-rvo2&sca_esv=599088636&sxsrf=ACQVn0-Lv1uMzu8P4QPHRl466FKKSYe-Gg:1705488402423&q=flash+vs+silver+surfer&uds=AMwkrPvoCh47uJCXmpnskltlPAMxS7oEhhXaCXVBGhcR-KV1_XFkbVO35EQNaXkvLXkX5FRpgbkWachHMYRMbi-Y1t-w9O2By6JN56H8FVovGfoMB1j_Q1pd9bXdFhxfJiQqsqBjhWnjA_9-j8BzTVeHaPDvsmzcr-kgAj8a6acL9x5A5rHh9eGqjecFHn4GLq8CzVNr8pttL1OIUF3E2tLsWWamJfE86ALiFjCmgARSRWAcfeeNrms-wwd7V-ThYwPLiLrAG7AR&udm=2&prmd=ivnsbmtz&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjEiJSzn-SDAxWL-jgGHYO9CpMQtKgLegQIDxAB&biw=360&bih=668&dpr=2#vhid=Fp9CbHDE6cbM8M&vssid=mosaic

Day 5- Mouse Monica
Yes, she can smile. I just think she looks more badass when she's frowning, like a certain visually impaired ungulate. This one comes from an 80's comic called "Um Amor de Ratinho" (Either "The Love of a Little Mouse" or a "Lovely Little Mouse" could be a direct translation), which is considered a classinc in the Monica's Gang franchise.  In the story, Franklin (the boy genius) is having a costume party, where Monica is dressed in this exact outfit. After she gets ice cream all over her face, she tries to head out to find the bathroom to clean it up, but ends up in Franklin's laboratory instead, where she accidentally activates his newest invention- a shrink ray- and shrinks down to the size of a regular mouse. She only realizes that after going back to the party and almost get stomped to death by the guests, forcing her to leave. Once outside again, she comes across a regular mouse being attacked by a cat. Since at the time, she didn't have standards about using violence on animals, she easily defeats the cat by suplexing it. After this, the mouse who she has saved falls in love with her (not knowing she's a human in a costume) and brings her to meet his parents. However, a panicking mouse appears and tells the family (and Monica) to come to see something,  and soon enough they realize that a clutter of cats has trapped multiple mice in a cage in order to eat them. Monica cannot deal with all of them at once, so she does what any sane person would do: teach all the mice how to build catapults and weapons and pretty much take charge at the cats, pelting them with projectiles until all of them leave and the trapped mice are freed. After the "battle" is over, Monica is brought over by the little mouse to the king of mice, and brings her a ring. This makes the girl realize that the mouse wants to marry her, much to her desperation. But as the wedding starts, she starts growing back to her regular size, since the effects of Franklin's machine were temporary, and she quickly gets out of the mouse world just as she finishes growing, leaving the mouse at the altar. The ending changes between the original comic and the animated adaptation (which I won't go further into so I don't make this any longer than already is). In the comic, after Monica grows back, she sees the heartbroken mouse, and decides to give him a picture of herself (that she had with her for some reason) to him, much to his happiness. In the animation, the mouse instead saves a female mouse that looks like Monica (including a red dress) from a mousetrap, and they both fall in love afterwards. What's bizarre is that, in many official art for the comic ( like this one ), Monica seemed to return the feeling to the mouse, which isn't the case for neither version of the story. Make that of what you will (except NSFW, of course, for the love of good she's 7). Property of Mauricio de Sousa

2 REMARKABLE WRITERS IN DIFFERENT PERIOD
Period of Activism
Rogelio Mangahas
Tumblr media
Rogelio Mangahas was a Filipino poet and artist who lived from 9 May 1939 to 4 July 2018. He was raised in the Philippines and attended the University of the East where he studied AB Filipino. He was born in Palasinan, Cabiao, Nueva Ecija. He spent most of his time with poet friends like Virgilio S. Almario and Teo Antonio at the University of the East at that time since he was already looking for others who shared the same passion in language. They led the second effective modernist trend in Filipino poetry together. For his critical essay on Edgardo M. Reyes's novel "Sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag" and his collection of poems, "Mga Duguang Plakard," Rogelio Mangahas won the first prize at the Palanca Literary Awards. He also co-authored and edited Manlilikha, an anthology of poems that some have referred to as "the best poetry collection ever."
In the 1960s, reviewers hailed it as a major accomplishment in contemporary Filipino poetry. Winner of the essay category at the 1986 Palanca Awards. He taught Filipino language and literature at De La Salle University, University of the East, University of the Philippines Manila, and St. Scholastica's College in addition to serving as editor-in-chief of Phoenix Publishing House and SIBS Publishing House. He worked as the country editor of Tenggara, a Southeast Asian literary journal published in Malaysia, and as a consultant for literature at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. He was the recipient of the SWP's "Poet of the Year" award as well as the UMPIL's Gawad Pambansang Alagad ni Balagtas. At the age of 79, he passed away on July 4, 2018.

Tumblr media
From 1971 to 1999, he served as the director of the Commission on the Filipino Language, formerly known as the Surian ng Wikang Pambansa (Filipino: Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino). Pineda began sociolinguistic studies to broaden the Filipino language under his direction. The Filipino language's orthographic reform is another of them. Language policy under Pineda underwent significant changes, including the introduction of bilingual schooling in 1974, the declaration of Filipino as the nation's official language in 1983, and the adoption of the 28-letter Filipino alphabet in 1987. In the Philippines, he founded 12 regional centers for the Filipino language. Ponciano B. Pineda edited the Philippine Dictionary (1973) by Jose Villa Panganiban and the Centennial Dictionary (1998) by the Commission on the Filipino Language. He
published the Filipino Dictionary, which served as the basis for the country's lexicography. Pineda completed his studies at the University of Santo Tomas in 1948 with the aid of former secretary of the Department of Filipino, angelica Panganiban, earning an Associate in Arts degree. He also took on the role of The Varsitarian's director. In addition to writing scholarly works, Pineda is a filipinologist, or specialist in Filipino culture. His literary works include "Pagpupulong: Mga Tuntunin At Pamamaraan," "Pandalubhasaang Sining Ng Komunikasyon," and "Sining Ng Komunikasyon Para Sa Mataas Na Paaralan." The Gawad Palanca gave him first and second prizes for his short stories "Ang Mangingisda" (1958) and "Malalim ang Gabi" (1953), respectively.

#RADIANT PLUMBING FULL#
#RADIANT PLUMBING SERIES#
I try to work ‘normal’ hours, and if I can take a day off for family stuff, I always do,” says McGillivary. Being a service plumber, in this day in age, you could work 24/7 if you wanted. “I have learned to set firm boundaries for myself when scheduling and taking on jobs. I have been able to take more time off for my family than ever. In fact, McGillivary’s biggest motivation for self-employment was time, rather than money. After passing my Masters, I decided to make the plunge into self-employment because I wanted the schedule flexibility for my family,” says McGillivary. “This allowed me to gain hours and knowledge for my Master’s test. He worked there for six years, but the whole time he continued to work nights and weekends doing plumbing work on the side. I found it fun to learn the ins and outs of that particular plumbing,” says McGillivary.Įventually, McGillivary joined the Pipefitter Test Crew and tested the piping systems after they were built. “The piping systems were complex, and although it was “plumbing on a ship,” it was completely different. McGillivary then took a job at Bath Iron Works (BIW) as a pipefitter building destroyers, ships for the United States Navy.
#RADIANT PLUMBING FULL#
Through college, he continued to work alongside his mentor, and after graduation, continued to work for him full time for three years. The owner, Russell, was/is a great mentor and really took the time to help him understand not only what they were doing, but why they were doing it.Īfter deciding to pursue plumbing, McGillivary attended Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) for its plumbing and heating program. Before college, McGillivary started working for a small plumbing business that primarily focused on service work. “Little did I know it would be the start of where I am now,” says McGillivary. McGilivary’s path started in a small town when a small plumbing business was looking for a helper, and he was looking for a job. “Nothing like kicking your feet up and watching someone making horrible life decisions on 90-Day Fiancé on a Sunday evening.” Joking aside, for Keith McGillivary business owner of McGillivary’s Plumbing Services (MPS), Gardiner, Maine, for the past two years-his story into the plumbing trades is an interesting one. This spotlighted tradesperson tells us that he really enjoys trashy reality TV.
#RADIANT PLUMBING SERIES#
Our unconventional radio and TV spots will continue, and Radiant will always be a little different from other companies.Welcome to another edition of our Hub Spotlight series where do a deep dive into the men and women who make the trades great. "It's been a great way to engage with the community and show a side of our personality that's different from other home service businesses. "We're a little sad that the display is coming to an end," Sarah Casebier said. Radiant's San Gabriel lease expires on July 31. Radiant has maintained a lease on the San Gabriel building that has allowed the displays to continue, but the company moved its operations to 901 Reinli St. The current "Star Wars"-inspired display, however, will be the last. Radiant was awarded Best Window Display (2014) and Best Toilet Tableau (2012) in The Austin Chronicle's annual Best of Austin survey. Movie and TV parodies have included "Harry Potty and the Deathly Bowels," "Game of Thrones," "The Clogging Dead," "The Flush," "Mary Poopins," and "Clogzilla." The displays frequently reference current and classic pop culture trends and events. We've loved our little effort to keep Austin weird." "The displays became increasingly elaborate, and we never repeated a display, so it was an ongoing challenge – but a fun one. "I decided right then that there would always be a toilet in the window," Brad Casebier said. The bold and daring window displays began when Radiant moved into the building in 2007. Brad Casebier, who co-owns the company with his wife, Sarah, grabbed the most convenient piece of equipment, which happened to be a toilet, and stuck it in the window as a way to attract attention to the location. Radiant Plumbing and Air Conditioning, a leading plumbing and HVAC provider in Austin, Texas, has announced that a popular local tradition will come to an end on July 31 when the company removes its final window display from 2908 San Gabriel St.

Two of those pics weren't even papped they were pics spotted by fans.
usually i’d delete asks like this because there’s no point in me wasting my energy on them, but i’ll gladly respond to this and explain the story behind these pictures, and i’m sure my lovely anons will do the same!
first and foremost, the fact that this is the only “proof” being used to go against the PR narrative is hilarious.
second, the first and third pictures were taken in public places. were they taken by fans? yes, but that’s the whole point. although, the idea of someone that they know taking an “organic” picture of them isn’t so far fetched but anyways, they wanted to be seen. and no, don’t even try the “Harry and Olivia are both famous, of course people are going to spot them,” excuse. i would agree with that statement if they weren’t spotted every single time that they went out together. this man knows how to not be seen. this man can publicly go out and enjoy his day with himself, friends, or family and not be seen. for example, we didn’t even know that he was in the UK until those pictures of him on the MP set were released. another example, we wouldn’t have known that he was in italy if miss girl wasn’t stunting in her LOT jacket, so if he truly wanted to spend a quiet day with olivia, he damn well could. i mean when he was with camille, they were barely ever spotted in public so....
and the second picture is self-explanatory. it was apart of the yachtgate... the biggest stunt move in history dude 😭. if you’re not aware of how obviously staged every single one of those pictures were, please go back and look at them. they had to look “in love,” they had to look “happy.” no, the paparazzi in a european country weren’t looking for harry and olivia and randomly found them on a yacht, that entire yachtgate was planned and every single one of those pictures were staged. why else do you think the camera is so zoomed in to capture them kissing (more like harry planting his lips on her chin)?
so in conclusion, holivia is fake. ❤️ and “organic” sightings, such as the first picture, is a very common tactic for PR relationships. don’t believe me? deuxmoi is proof of this. but i hope that i explained it well, have a good night!

Identity & Name
Tumblr media
After watching the anime, reading the manga and just appreciating AdachiToka’s fine work of literature for more than a year, I notice how valuable and important one's name is. How relieving and fulfilling it feels to know you have a place to go back to when someone you love calls out your name. The concepts of God and Regalia, the nature of a Regalia itself and the God's greatest secret being utilized in the series show that, like what happened to Sakura and Nora.
I see it as a tribute to those who have died and those who have lost their lives by the hands of their own kin. Hence Adachitoka created a world where those who have met with a cruel fate will be given a chance to live again in the Far Shore as a weapon for the God who named them and took them in. Devote to your name giver, guide them to the right path and you won't lose yours.
However, the more valuable the name the more threatening it becomes once it is abused or breaks. This is where the God's greatest secret plays its role, we have witnessed the tragedy with Sakura when Yato revealed her true name and triggered the memories of her past that morphed her into an evil spirit. A similar devastating event happened to another Regalia belonged to Bishamon, Tsuguha. Instead of the Goddess herself disclosing it to her, the sorcerer cracked her name with a weapon that could expose a regalia to the greatest secret effortlessly with the slightest contact with it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Being remembered and have their name known is also essential for the Gods who were born from humans' wishes. Without humans and their desires, the divine beings wouldn't exist nor reincarnated if they died. As long as they are remembered and spoken about by many, they will continue to live on even if they die they could simply reincarnate again unlike those whose names couldn't even stay in people's memories for a day. Unlike the famous Gods of Fortunes who have countless worshippers, Yato is a God who was born from a single wish. He wasn't given a shrine let alone have any worshippers to know of him since he had been taught to indiscriminately massacre humanity.
That was until he met Iki Hiyori, who genuinely wanted to be with him for a long time and promised to never forget about him like how others would. Fearing he would cease to exist, Yato has been trying hard to get people to remember him even if he had to work for humans. Unfortunately, no matter how hard he work he still can't seem to get people to remember him for a long time. His fear of abandonment and being forgotten haunted him until he found a reason to keep living, when he found Yukine and Hiyori, the two very people he loves and wishes to protect.
The importance of a name for a God in Noragami is shown during, what some of the readers call as, the Ebisu arc, when Yato went into the Underworld to save Ebisu initially under the sorcerer's orders. However, in order to escape from the Underworld and from the queen of the Underworld, Izanami, a summoning technique where a human calls out the "true name" of those in the Underworld. This technique is called 'The Soul Call' or 'Soul Summoning.'
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Getting named and having somebody to call and summon you to get you back home, that has clearly been shown to be of great significance in the story or else you could stray from your goal and lost your way. It also implies how the names of those who have died or lost that are being remembered in people's hearts and memories are found and noticed.

Happenings of the Good Book
Tumblr media
With all great nations there are political instability, murder, rape, extortion, among other crimes that are embedded deep in the foundation of everything others see as spectacular but no one sees the invisible. From the beginning of time there has been unscrupulous activities taking place. The poor have been taken advantage of and exploited, the women have been see as inferior and vulnerable and the children have been seen as insignificant. Even in the bible we read of gruesome acts which have lead to the rise and fall of nations and kings.
There are numerous stories in the bible where crimes were committed but no one was charged. No justice was served in the making. Even the story of Jesus, there was no real charge on Him but the people choose a criminal to be released in of an innocent man. Isn’t this the same that that goes on today? Innocent people being incarcerated for years with no end in sight. ‘
The story of  Absalom and Amnon sons of David found in 2 Samuel 13:1-32 speaks of a crime that was committed and the victim given no justice. The story tells us that Absalom and Amnon had a fairly beautiful sister by the name of Tamar.  Amnon was madly in love with Tamar despite the fact that she is his sister. He raped her eventually and Absalom was made aware if it. Tamar remained in Absalom house hided hereafter. Amnon was not bought to justice for this crime regardless of the fact that King David knew about the assault. Absalom resented his brother for years and did not speak to him from the moment he found out he raped Tamar. Absalom plotted in his head how he would kill Amnon for years.
Tumblr media
His plan was perfected when he set a trap and ordered his servant to kill Amnon.  This was Absalom way of getting revenge for Tamar. In those day there were no police to call or any law enforcement. People live by the rules of the King’s guard and justice was given based on the agreed upon terms of the village, town, city or nation you are apart of. Deem it be a woman was rape and no justice would stand for her. The only thing that would happen is taht shame would come to her and she would be seem as an outcast in society and a woman whose pride has been taken from her.
If I could have done something is this situation in the name of enforcing the law, I would ensure that Amnon was bought to justice for raping his sister and this would have prevented a murder from taken place. If it was in the day and age, Tamar would have the law to fight for her and still feel empowered as a woman. Rape is damaging and this is something that no one can forget. Even when King David found out about the rape, nothing was done. Absalom was wrong to do what he did as it’s murder but that was the way justice was serve for the violation against his sister.

Tumblr media
It is a normal day in Tokyo. Sun shining through Nijiro's window, right now he's staying at his Dad's house just to help take care of his dad even though his dad could take care of himself. It has been years since he saw his mom and he barely interacts with his other siblings that were not from his family side and basically was from his step dad's side. He had 4 other siblings that were younger then him,but he could only see them if his mom would come visit him with her other husband which Nijiro hated. He never hated his new siblings that much though, they knew that he was struggling and that it was their mother's fault that he became so unsociable when he was just a teenager. Ever since that day when his parents divorced it broke him,he had chosen to go with his dad because his dad,Jun Murakami did nothing to his mother Ua,he didn't hurt her,he didn't do anything to start the fight. Every thing was perfect until that day had come into his life.
Nijiro only sat there on the stairs, the palm of his hand's covering his ears tightly, tear's fell down from his face as he cried silently listening to his parents fight down stairs was all he could do. Nijiro had woken up from his sleep when he heard the door of the house opening and closing, his Dad told Nijiro that his mother was still at work and will be home late today,Nijiro understood and just went up stairs to go to bed. And when he woke up from his sleep cheerfully and excited to see his mother,he only heard shout of anger and sadness. Which brought into the present where he just sits there shakily, fear, sadness and anger building up in his 8 year old mind of his "What about our son!?,what if his future will be a whole damn dampness all because of you" Jun shouted, his hand in his hair as he Paced around the room angrily "Why are YOU bringing YOUR son into this s**t!?,Besides he doesn't mean anything to me!" Ua responded back,Nijiro heard that clearly and his heart started to shattee in him "m-mommy doesn't like me...anymore.." He said quietly wiping his tears away for a bit as he continues to cry silently on the stairs. He didn't know what to do,he wanted to stop the shout and swearing words that came out of their mouths..but he couldn't do that. Besides,he was just a mere child,no one will listen to him in this situation even his own parents.
He decided to get up and went back into his room to sleep. He got in his room, closing the door quietly as he climbs into his bed, covering his body with the thick sheets of it as he slowly fall's asleep.
How many weeks later, Nijiro came back from school. His dad said that he couldn't pick him up from school today and said to just meet him at their house. He opens the door to see his mom and dad sitting on the couch separately from each other "Watashi wa ie ni imasu otōsan, okāsan (I'm home dad, mom)" He said stuttering as he took of his shoes "Nijiro..we have something to say to you" His dad said with a low voice,Nijiro nods as he sit's on the couch beside his dad "Who do you want to go with?" His mom suddenly said "U-Ua..he needs some talking,he doesn't know the situation y-" "I-i know.." Nijiro suddenly spoke, tears almost falling down his face "Ah!- so,you heard..?" His dad said, looking down at him with worry in his eyes.
Nijiro nods slowly as he looked down to his tiny feet "Well...since you already know,we're so sorry that you heard-" "Yes..i know" Nijiro cuts him off again "Then that means I guess it's time for daddy and mommy to....hm,Separate.." Nijiro's head goes up to look at his dad in the eyes "It's about time you told him. Now,who do you want to go with" Ua said, crossing her arms while looking at the two "I- I DON'T KNOW!, W-W-WHY SEPARATE!?" He shouted as tears fall down his face "N-nijiro son..i know it's hard but you have to choose-" "WHY CHOOSE!?,I-I DON'T WANT US TO BE LIKE THIS!" he shouted again,Ua getting annoyed at his behavior "Just pick!,it's not that hard" "Ua!,he's a child we need to take it easy on him" Jun said to her as he hugged Nijiro into his chest "Nijiro,I'm going to say it again...who do you choose between me and mommy,I know it's hard..b-but you have to do it" Jun said, holding him tightly in his arms "T-then...i'm choosing you, daddy"
[6 YEARS LATER]
(Year/date: ??/??/2012)
(Location: ??? Studio)
It has been 6 years ever since he chose his dad's side, they both moved into somewhere else in Tokyo where schools were even closer to their house. Nijiro right now is currently 14 in age and in middle school,he styled his hair so that his bangs would go to the front of his head, kind of a weird style..but his dad recommended the hair style so he didn't mind. He loved his dad so much, his dad raised him ever since that day. Jun is now a single father to one son that he has,he loves Nijiro and he just want's to make him happy. For the past few years Nijiro has been down lately,Jun felt bad that he would stay at work the most because he's an actor and of course the media knows the situation between him and his Ex-wife Ua.He founds out that Ua got married again in 2008 with a guy named Bishū Hasegawa, a non celebrity dude.
He didn't cared though,he only cares for his son and his son only. He still kept their old pictures together as a family on his phone though, he didn't want to loose the precious memories that Nijiro had as a child. Back to Nijiro, he is currently inside a room that had bean bags and other stuff, he didn't know why he was here and how does his dad know this place. Currently he is waiting for his dad to come in the room after talking to  a friend that he met the other day he says, good thing it was school break so that Nijiro didn't have to worry about school,he only worries about the stack of homework he has in his room. He sighs as he sits on one of the bean bags in the room, waiting for his dad to finish the conversation between him and his friend.
After a few minutes of waiting, the door's of the room slams wide open to reveal his dad and another guy that was taller then his dad. He had shaggy long straight like hair that was black, and the under side of his hair a yellowish gold. He wore a black jacket with his sleeves pulled up so it stops at his elbow, the zipper of his jacket goes down a bit to just show his collar bone, he had a galaxy like bracelet and some grey and white leggings, and the last part he had bright blue shoes that were a bit big. The man stood behind Jun as as Nijiro stand up "Nijiro you might be wondering who this young ng man is" Jun said smiling softly,Nijiro just tilted his head to the side, confused "You may introduce yourself" Jun said as he moves aside for the man to stand at full few for Nijiro to see "Hello there,my name is Sakurada Dori. But you can call me Dori or onii Chan (big brother) if you like" Dori said,as he biwed a bit at Nijiro "I'm 21 years old,I'm a big fan your dad as you can see. We met yesterday at a park,he mentioned that you were lonely..so I decided to become your babysitter-" "Wait, you want this oldhag..to take care of me?" Nijiro said, looking at his dad in disbelief "Yes!, of course i am,plus he's 21 he is not that old. I just can't bare to see you,my son so lonely and down. So I thought that Dori here could keep you company for today until I'm done with my work. I'll pick you up after that" Jun said smiling at Nijiro softly "Fine, but if this dude is boring I'm done" "Boring?,who says I'm boring. I literally am a master of Uno when it comes to playing it with my friends" Dori said crossing his arms while looking down at the 14 year old in front of him "heh, try me" Nijiro said, crossing his arms too while looking up at him "I see you boys will get along greatly!,well I got to go to work now, please take care of him okay Dori?" "Yes Mr.Murakami,I will do my best!" Dori said bowing at him "No need to bow!,and call me Jun. Nijiro you behave okay?" Jun said as walked out of the room "Okay dad!" Nijiro shouted through the halls.
And that's the day where Nijiro felt happy again,Dori taught him many things in life. He really likes Dori and ends up calling him his own big brother that day. Dori taught him how to have fun,he even introduced him to Fanta, his dachshund.
That one faithful day,he will never forget..
.
.
.
.
"Nijiro?,Nijiro!" Nijiro opened his eyes carefully observing where he was,as he looked at his dad that was on the drivers seat,he realized that he wasn't in his old room anymore. He thought that his dad must've carried him from inside the house all the way inside the car,now he felt bad "Don't worry about me carrying you, besides you're shorter than me,and way more lighter to carry" His dad said smiling at him, "You know you should've woken me up at the house dad" He grumbled tiredly as he rubbed his right eye, looking from the passenger's seat window to be met front faced with his house. He realized that the skies were already a softer darker shade of blue, meaning that it was going to be night time "Well,I can't bare to wake up my son. He'll get grumpy!" His dad said chickling while boiling his nose "Daaad~!, stop!" Nijiro said as he pouted At him,Jun just laughed at his expression remembering the old days whenever he woke him up for him to go to school he would pout and whine..no Nijiro isn't a brat,he's just not a morning person that's all.
Nijiro got out of the car, saying  goodbye and thank you to his dad as his dad drove off into the night.
He sighed as he got in his house, turning on the Air conditioner in his living room as he got into the bathroom to take a warm shower, he stripped off his clothes and turns on the shower,he got inside as the warm water hits his skin. After how many minutes in the shower,he got out and wrapped the white towel around his waist, getting out of the bathroom into his room as he got dressed in his night wear. Tomorrow he's going to shoot as Chishiya again, and he knew he had to go to the studio early in the morning,so he got down stairs to have dinner. After dinner he washed his plate and turned off the air conditioner in the living room, going up stairs to go to sleep.
[THE NEXT DAY]
(Year/date: ??/12/2020)
(Location: ??? Studio)
"Okay we're here!" His dad said smiling at Nijiro "Dad,explain again on why do you want to go to work with me??" Nijiro looked at his dad with a confused look "You'll see" His dad said, grinning widely at him as he got out of the car,Nijiro did the same as they both walked to the entrance of the studio. They both got in the main studio to be met with lightening's,cameras and other stuff for the filming. Nijiro went inside one of the dressing rooms to get dressed in his Chishiya costume, his dad following him "Ah! There is our Cheshire!,and oh? I see that you brought the famous one and only Jun with you!" The director said,Shinsuke Sato who looked behind Nijiro to greet his dad with a wide smile "Yes! And you must be the most talented director Shinsuke huh?" His dad said, laughing together with Shinsuke "Dad,don't embarrass me" Nijiro mummbled quietly "Non need to be Nijiro! Me and Shinsuke here are good friends!" His dad exclaims as Nijiro was requested to sit on a black chair so that they could apply his make up and Chishiya wig on.
Meanwhile in the brake room, there were two boy's playing Uno before the filming starts. Both of them already in their characters clothes, and they were both ready for the set. Dori in his Niragi costume holding 2 Uno cards on his hand smirking at the other boy Kento that is in his Arisu costume that has 4 cards in his hands, sending Dori a glare that say's 'you better not have two lucky cards in your hand's or you're dead', Dori just laughed at his glare as Kento put's down a red stop sign card "Hah!,I stopped you! It's my turn again!" Kento said as he put's down the black colour changing card "You may Kento" Dori said smirking at him, kento frowns and thinks on what colour should he pick. He thought on what Arisu would do in this situation "Ah!,I choose the colour....Yellow!" Kento said happily...not longer after that Dori put's down both of his cards, showing two yellow card on the table "Uno game!" He shouted happily "Aww c'mon!, I had plenty of yellow cards! See!?" Kento said showing his cards to Dori.
Dori just chuckled "Well I guess it's my lucky day..Ryohei Arisu" He said smirking, looking at Kento "I'll beat you someday...Suguru Niragi" Kento said, looking at Dori with a serious look until both of them burst out laughing. The two were best friends ever since 2013,they didn't know that their friendship would last for 7 years by now. They stopped laughing when the door of the break room opens revealing a Nijiro that is now in his Chishiya costume and Jun right behind him "Ah,Dori. It has been a long time I haven't seen you" Jun said, smiling at him, Dori walking towards him and giving the much older man a friendly hug "Yes! It's been like..i don't know..8 years?? Since we haven't seen each other?" Dori said smiling "hmm...guess so!" Both of them laughed,Kento walking towards them and bowing at Jun "It is a pleasure to meet you Mr.Murakami" Kento said "Ah,and you must be Kento Yamazaki hm? I've heard you from Dori" Jun replies "Oh,I didn't know he told you about me,but still what brings you here?" Kento asked him "Yeah dad,why are you at work with me?" Nijiro asked, looking at his dad.
"Well..i want you two,Kento and Dori..to take care of my son here" Jun said, looking at both men that is in front of him and his son "I see that I have to be your babysitter again huh Jiji?~" Dori said booping Nijiro's nose"No touching!" Nijiro hissed and rubbed his nose "Aww c'mon you're such a cute wittle baby Jiji~" Kento said, squeezing his left cheek "I said no touching!" Nijiro said as he crossed his arms against his chest "I see the three of you are getting along quite nicely, well got to go now,Nijiro behave" Jun said, walking out the door. Leaving the three boys alone in the room. "So..where should we start?" Kento asked "Maybe the both of you should start by leaving me be. I'm fine okay? I'm almost 24 so f#*k off!" Nijiro hissed as he grabbed his phone from his pocket and sat on one of the chairs of the brake room while playing PUBG on his phone "Jeez...how did you take care of him when he was 14?" Kento asked Dori "Well easy, grab his game boy- well phone now and just let his steam off" Dori said, grabbing Nijiro's phone.
Nijiro looked up at him in disbelief with wide eyes, shocked that he took his phone "WHY THE F##K DID YOU DO THAT FOR!?" Nijiro shouted,Kento stumbled back, startled at Nijiro's sudden tone "You'll get brain damage if you keep staring at your phone non stop, let it rest for at least 1 hour. Now we need to shoot a series" Dori said with a glare and a serious tone,Nijiro shivered remembering ok what Dori did to him when he disobeyed his orders. That day,Nijiro didn't listen to what Dori told him resulting a hard pinch from Dori until right arm got a purple bruise on it "Okay fine!" Nijiro said, stuttering a bit. His dad didn't even mind that Dori pinched him,Cause Jun knows what's right for his son and what's not.
After that, they all started shooting.
After it ended Nijiro sat on one of the chairs and stared into space for awhile until he heard someone calling his name "Oi! Nijiro!,here's your phone. Sorry that I took it from you" Dori said smiling, ruffling Nijiro's Chishiya wig. Kenti doing the same as he smiled widely "You're lucky that you have a babysitter like me and him you know that Jiji?" Kento said grinning widely at him "Hm,thanks" Nijiro said, smiling a bit.
[HOW MANY MINUTES LATER]
"I'll buy you ice cream if you behave Jiji!" Kento said,Nijiro Stole Kento's Takoyaki and now Kento is angry "But these are so good" Nijiro said, chuckling while taking another bite of the Takoyaki "Nijiro..give them back" Dori said "okay okay! I was just playing around with you" He said, while apologizing to Kento. After that they both go back home to Nijiro's house.
"So wanna watch some Disney movies Jiji?" Kento asked"Y-yes.."Nijiro said shyly. Ever since when he was little,he had been a fan of Disney movies "Let's watch Frozen II then!" Doris said, grabbing some popcorn and sitting right next to Kento and Nijiro.
And that night,Nijiro would never forget on how he was getting babied by the both of them until his dad came to his house.
[Sorry for the bad ending- I have too many wips right now and I am tired cause I finished this at night,so I hope all of you enjoyed this ☺]
