All these colors are used as variations of white in different drawings of mine.
And this is why color picking won't work if you don't understand colors and how they work in relation to each other.
Tumblr media
Even though non of those colors are white when they stand alone, within my artwork we register them as white because they work in their surrounding.

please for the love of some god, reblog art. please.
for newer users from other sites especially, when someone says "dont repost" theyre not saying to not reblog it theyre saying dont download and use it elsewhere without explicit permission.
hit the 🔁 button, leave silly comments in the tags. spam the reblog function and force all your friends to see the thing you enjoy!! you cant do that with a like!!!!

I can't help but think about how in my head, modern akemi is really into art. I don't necessarily have canon ideas to back that up, I just think akemi adores artistry and the things people create. especially female artists, and even more specifically ones who utilise their traumas and abuse and their sexuality. think tracey emin! I think she'd have a real good try at creating her own art after seeing other people's, using her father and the way the men in her life have treated her, or even her use of sexuality as a weapon, as her inspiration and I think she could make something beautiful out of it. akemi really feels like a girl who'd appreciate emotive art especially from women who can create from her perspective; a woman who's life has been dictated. send post.

A little tip to artists
Draw with your whole lower arm and not only your wrist. It lowers the risk of developing carpal tunnel. I'm doing lineart right now and I realized I don't use my wrist that much lol. It takes a second to get used to, but it's not too crazy. Give it a shot sometime :)

I have some questions I still definitely want to answer and draw for, but I'm hitting a little creative slump .0.
Does anyone have any requests or drawing ideas?

I love fanart and I still make fanart, but making my own characters and writing about them and drawing them and thinking about them - the little guys that I MADE - after not doing so for 5 years or so has quite possibly been the best thing to happen to me as an artist

is there a specific piece where you look back on and go
damn, i really did so well with this!
Oh yes! Actually many! I have phases where I look at them and see mistakes but overall I love looking at them and things damn yes!!! The Aran and Tao homework piece is def one of those! It took me so long but I really love how it turned out and it felt like a moment where I leveled up, so I hold it dear to me!
Tumblr media
This food truck piece is also one I still really love! I love how the truck turned out and how Aran and Tao look, especially their clothes. And I really love the colors here. This was also a pick I took a bit longer with but then all fell into place and coloring was so much fun!
Tumblr media
And this diner pic is one of my all time faves too. Here I really struggled with the colors and the final result is a bit of an accident. But a happy one!! It was a good luck! And Aran making breakfast here is one of my all time faves too. This was the first pic that really worked out with the intermediate palette and I was so excited. Still am! This was a great break through.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tbh i really could name more. But those are pieces that even hold up through time. Some are from 2020 and I still look back and I am really happy with them. And this says a lot! I know sometimes I struggle with my work. Right now for example. But I still overall really like my work and I like looking at some old pieces still.

You can do whatever you want forever
As an animator student who happens to write stories, I have to remind myself that stories in books and movies are not the same.
They're fucking not. They can have the same plot structures, atmospheres, or whatever you want but what is in books won't be like in movies. Movies tend to simplify books, for what I've seen so far, that's why we tend to say "yeah the novel/manga was better!" because there were more details or because some specific details can't work on screen better than in a book. I can write whatever I want in a book, can specify whatever shit I want, write the dialogue I want even if it's long and really weird read out loud, whereas in movies you have to go to the point, you shouldn't waste time (unless it's a Ghibli movie and tbh more movies should take their time like in Ghibli movies).
I shouldn't feel like I have to write my stories like quick movies watched in one hour. Maybe it's because I read fewer books this year, and that causes me so much frustration because it makes me feel like my stories are boring. They're boring because they're not as precise, fast or spectacular as a movie. And maybe that's a sign that I should go back to reading books because I miss the feeling of imagining and the feelings expressed like joy, annoyance or pain (I see you TSOA) that makes books so special.
They're not movies. And that's okay because they're not supposed to be the same. They're two different types of media that can tell stories in their own specific ways. And that's okay.
You can do whatever you want forever. Write that damn book LIKE A BOOK.

Abstract Cityscape
City Reflected, Jacquelyn Block Today I felt like playing with strong vertical lines. I free hand my lines so they at not perfect, and I am too impatient to measure anything out so my reflections are just eyeballed. Once again, I was attempting to paint up something that would be a quicky and end up spending hours on it. And apparently I can’t type today. I apologize in advance if I’ve missed…

I love your Narcissus art nouveau drawing 😍 have you thought of doing a series of different flowers in that style? It could be awesome :D
oh yes yes i plan on doing even more Art Nouveau style art with flowers in the future. Well, when will that happen is not so exact (due to me being occupied with a bunch of stuff).
But because of your ask i actually have just started to draw the sketch of a new flower piece's rough sketch:

Besides Art nouveau, I have been inspired by another style recently, Neo Gothic or Gothic Revival architecture. I even made a few live studies.
