Furie, 1978

Le père d'un enfant doué de pouvoirs de voyance se met à la recherche de son fils. Celui-ci a été enlevé par une agence de contre-espionnage qui veut utiliser ses aptitudes paranormales à des fins politiques. Il est aidé par une jeune étudiante qui a les mêmes pouvoirs que son fils...

Brian De Palma récidive dans le domaine du fantastique s'appuyant sur un thème proche de son précédent film qui montrait la télékinésie et qui dans ce film ajoute la psychométrie qui consiste à pouvoir raconter le passé d'un objet ou d'une personne en le touchant. Le film relate l'histoire d'un agent dont le fils possède ce pouvoir et qui va être enlevé par un de ses plus proches amis qui veut utiliser ses pouvoirs à des fins politiques et scientifiques. Kirk Douglas campe le rôle de cet agent qui va tout entreprendre pour retrouver son fils et le tirer des griffes de ses ravisseurs. Le film marque également les retrouvailles du réalisateur et d'Amy Irving, sorte de clin d'oeil à "Carrie". Le film dispose d'un excellent scénario et mêle le fantastique au thriller ce qui le différencie vraiment de "Carrie" qui apparaissait comme un drame. Le scénario est complexe, efficace, ne souffre d'aucun temps mort grâce à un rythme qui ne s'arrête jamais, alternant légèreté et violence. Le réalisateur développe deux intrigues qui s'enchaînent à un rythme effréné et se retrouvent pour un dénouement particulièrement sombre, violent, gore, pessimiste et apocalyptique. On distingue la patte de Brian De Palma avec des ralentis calculés au millimètre. La musique est signée John Williams et s'installe aisément dans les scènes d'action comme la scène de la poursuite à voiture comme dans les scènes dites sociales comme la vie à l'institut Paragon. Brian De Palma signe un film complexe, envoûtant qui vous pénètre inconsciemment et qui annonce ses futurs chef-d'œuvres.

SongFacts:

'Need You Tonight' is a 1987 INXS song written by Michael Hutchence and Andrew Farriss. It appeared on the album 'Kick'.

In the band's official autobiography, INXS, Andrew Farriss said that he had the song's guitar riff in his head as he waited for a taxi to take him to the airport. Upon arrival, Farris asked him to wait a few minutes to get something from the motel. Farris taped the song and made the cab driver wait an hour. Michael Hutchence later wrote the lyrics for the song.

The sounds of the song are reminiscent of electronic music. Sequencers are combined with drum machines and funk-oriented guitar riffs. Directed by Richard Lowenstein, the music video for Need You Tonight won five MTV Video Music Awards in 1988, including Video of The Year.

F/A 55 “GhostOwl” and “Eboncry”

The F/A 55 was an experimental prototype drone developed outside of the Shadows organization by Lockheed Farris, the successor to Lockheed Martin. Its the first compact aircraft meant for use by soldiers on the field. The prototype was purchased by the Shadows science division and further developments happened under their supervision.

Only two drones were made. The first drone was the the GhostOwl, the drone used for hunting services by Cereza Imperial before it was “surrendered” to the Shadows upon her departure. (It was abandoned in a secluded forest for the Shadows to find and collect.)

The second drone, the Eboncry, was expanded upon by Cyanne Demissie as a pet project developed in tandem with hobbyist pilot Leslie Jacobs. The chassis was enlarged to allow for a traditional cockpit that was designed to eject pilots above and below the plane, allowing for seamless transitions of a pilot from air scenarios to infantry scenarios. Together with its automated AI drone technology, the pilot and the AI can work together to perform discreet stealth insertions and extractions of a singular pilot. The AI was replaced with Edenthal, a Unity-Class construct AI, developed by Demissie for Jacobs’s use. Once the plane was completed, Jacobs sent a formal request for review of the plane and was instructed to develop and test stealth capabilities. Once Jacobs landed successfully at Moonlight Palace, her approach undetected by radar, the Eboncry was released to Jacobs for her personal use--the first trainee to have her own personal plane.
