What are your favorite things to see in dirkjake fanart

Art that lines up with my own headcanons and thoughts.

But serious answer, i like seeing.. well first off i like seeing them fighting. Fighting poses are hard. i commend anyone who can fiddle with a pose enough for it to look good!

And secondly, i like symbolism in dirkjake art.. a deeper meaning or understanding of it. Cannibalism, Weaponry, Attachment style, etc. Cannibalism is one of my favourites of course. Jake is prone to preservation and sentimentality and selfish love, Dirk with his desire to serve and selfsacrificing ways.. its the type of certainly not well and unique dynamic they have that rings true for me as someone whos very aroace. “The only love can come from taking a chunk out of you for me.. its forbidden but its the only way i can love” sort of deal.

While i like dirk angst art when it comes to dirkjake i like jakecentric dirkjake symbolic art too.. something about being aromantic and unsure if youre loving enough while recognising they mean something different than others but are you really sure about that? his attachment struggles. There is so much to say on dirk and jake and the fact theyre called nobles after the elements that are known for not being able to keep stable bonds!! I can think of guilealopecoid as an outstanding example with the clever use of tyler the creators igor lyrics as one that i chew on in my mind because it sticks with me.

i guess tying those two ideas together, i like when people draw dirk and jake in someway symbolically tied to their weapon. I think their weapons and combat in general plays such a large part into their character, larger than any of the other kids in the series. To forget a boy is a gun and a boy is a blade is to lose sight of the symbolism.

Ultimately though im not that picky.. i dont like designs that stray too far from their general appearance and i dont like any art with them as parents (personal opinion: they are failures to me and should not be granted a small impressionable child to unload their baggage on) but i like all dirkjake art generally and its why i save a lot of it!!

Ugh I’m so sure there have been so so many posts about this already but the fact that Rose reads people and psychoanalyses them because she can never know how her mom is going to treat her or act like in the next moment, so she has to be constantly on guard mentally (parallel to how Dave has to constantly be on guard physically). Trans Bro/Trans Dirk has endometriosis (*enBROmetriosis, because people are shitty and don't get that guys have it, too), even AFTER getting a hysterectomy, because, unfortunately, sometimes our bodies are just transphobic like that. (True story, bro...) He doesn't get symptoms regularly post-op, but when they hit, they hit like a plane-wreck - it's a huge disaster for one, and it also becomes everyone else's business.

Trans Dave doesn't have endo, but still goes through a lot of pain relievers for normal cramps. He forgot to tell Bro they were out of medicine last time.

Cue Bro stuck hugging the toilet, sick from how much pain he's in as soon as he wakes up, and Dave doesn't hear him call out for healing.

As soon as Dave hears Bro talking about Advil, he immediately remembers his mistake and realizes why Bro's been extra volatile lately (PMS/PMDD/etc).
