I don’t know what to say
if I can’t say the truth
I’d like to wake up and it be 2005.
I am in my twin bed and it’s Saturday. I’m warm. I can hear my mom upset about some thing in the kitchen but I’ve already forgiven her. Because I can see the sun through the blinds, because it’s Saturday and I’m home.
My hands make me sad the same way the seasons do. When I look down I see replicas of the hands I remember seeing on my mom in 2000.
And when it snows my body remembers what it felt like three winters ago to be held by my Honda Pilot.
I’d like to go back to 1999 when my grandma wasn’t sick and didn’t hide her nicotine addiction.
I’d like to wake up to the sound of the ticking clock in the kitchen and the smell of coffee and grandma playing solitaire at the table.
I think Payson chose me because the great vastness of nothingness gave me a gift of some thing that moved a little bit slower. Although it doesn’t feel like home, I know in hindsight i’ll ache for 2022. No Starbucks, no University and no need to rush. (Technology really fucked us here. It’s just not good for humans to move so fast) i’d like to go back to giving the fucking pigeon my letter. Or at the very least, you’d have to call me.
I’d like to go back and live in the time before 98’, before my dad left and before my mom hated me. Before generational karma would turn me into the problem.
Maybe that’s why my hands make me sad. Why the seasons remind me that the great never ending nothingness doesn’t care about my aging hands or three winters ago. If we knew what the future held, I don’t know if we’d ever get out of bed. It doesn’t matter that it’s not my fault and it doesn’t matter that it’s not yours. With age, the meaning of words take on a deeper depth. Space. Which turn to Sonder, which eventually led to nothing. Nothing. I balance everything on the scale of nothing and love. Nothing is nothing and everything. Everything is nothing. And love is everything else. To me the core emotion.
I’d like to go back to when my dad was my best friend and we could tangle our legs and it wasn’t perverted.
I’d like to go back to 2015 when the idea of doing whatever felt good, whatever choice that may be, was the right one. I’d like to just watch. I hadn’t noticed my aging hands yet. I would like to go back to 2018 when I learned that the thickness of blood doesn’t count for much. And that who I thought I was, never really existed at all.
I’d like to go back to a few weeks ago when I discovered that I’m capable of being in love and not just loving strangers. I’d like to go back to standing in Heather‘s mom‘s house and I would tell her the secret to falling in love again after your forever has fallen through is self-love and selflessness.
I’d like to go back to laying in your bed and absorbing the feeling of your skin into my skin. I’d like to relive all the moments I could feel your skin, taste your mouth, hear your heart beat, listen to your voice, all the moments I could look at your face, run my fingers through your hair and see right into your soul through your eyes. I want to relive all the moments I knew without a doubt I loved you. I’d like to go back to the very first time I drove to your house, just so I could see you for the very first time again, back when you didn’t scare me. On Saturday Enea Bastianini was fastest through the speed traps at 314.8 km/h and the fastest seven bikes down the 507 metre front straight were all Ducati mounted.
Of course with such a short straight the MotoGP bikes don’t really get to strut their top end horsepower, so Suzuki, Aprilia and Honda riders were all close behind.
KTM have a bit more speed to find but Yamaha are still dead stone last in the speed stakes.
Fabio Quartararo was fourth quickest on the time-sheets when it came to lap times, but 20th fastest down the chute at 305.9 km/h, but still the Frenchman was the fastest Yamaha. Imagine how big that difference might be when they get to Losail in a few weeks, where Johann Zarco piloted a Ducati Desmosedici to 362.4 km/h down its 1068 metre long front straight.. Last year though, despite the top speed shortcomings of the Yamaha, Maverick Vinales won the race at Qatar on a Yamaha and set a new race lap record! And that top speed advantage didn’t prevent Quartararo from winning more races than any other rider in 2021 on his way to becoming World Champion. So obviously over a full race distance, even with a kilometre long straight, the Yamaha is a seriously competitive motorcycle. Quartararo has made his disappointment with the failure of Yamaha to give him any significant boost in horsepower for 2022 quite clear in Malaysia, and again during this Indonesian test, but the 22-year-old has shown the skill, bravery and tenacity to exploit every other strength the Yamaha does have in order to come out on top.
