(Finn Shelby x Reader) & (Platonic Alfie Solomons x StepDaughter!reader) WIP Summary: Alfie Solomons is in for a surprise one morning when his soon to be step daughter greets him with a hug. Which wasn't unusual in itself, but he never expected it to happen at Tommy Shelby's house... or while she was wearing Finn Shelby's PJ's.... He has to be dreaming right?

In which an oblivious Y/N is ecstatic to “introduce” her two favourite men to each other, Finn Shelby is still confused, Alfred Solomons contemplates murder, John Shelby lives for the drama, Arthur Shelby’s hairs a birds nest, and Tommy is nowhere to be found. And it’s not even eight o’clock…

WIP Wednesday

Thanks for the tags @thewholelemon and @shrekgogurt. Your stuff looks so good (yes ALL of it Jenny! Stop doubting yourself!) and I cannot wait until it is out in the world. Thanks also to @hushed-chorus -- I already devoured the two fics on your list I had never heard of and they were SOO good! We're very much on the same wavelength with vamp angst.

You know what’s not as fun as everyone's updates? Developing a truly distinct voice for a fic and then trying to break out of it once you are done. I love my narrator for The Eternal Life of Baz Pitch, but flowery prose/omniscient third-person doesn't work for most fics! I'm trying to ease my transition back into first person POV switching by writing a sequel to my EGF fic, Kill Em With Kindness. It doesn’t need a sequel, but it’s been a fun way to get back to throwing words on the page and seeing what sticks. (I wrote 1k words over the past couple days, which is way more than I have since I finished Eternal Life! Are the words any good? Debatable. But progress is progress...)

In the meantime, here is a bit of current Baz from chapter 5 under the cut. Not technically spoilery if you haven’t started reading, but honestly, you should be forced to wait just as long as everyone who has been reading for this meet-cute…so I forbid you from clicking if you haven’t started yet!!!

“Hey—uh—there’s a long line—” the young man smiles awkwardly, “—so if you aren’t ready, maybe you should step aside?” Baz regains control of his mind and mouth briefly enough to utter an order. “Pumpkin mocha breve. Small.” The young man laughs. “Are you a child?” “What?” “That drink sounds gross.” He wrinkles his nose. “Certainly much too sweet for a grown man to drink before his morning run.” Baz is well and truly shocked from his reverie now. He glances at the young man’s name tag. Simon.  “I’m perfectly serious, Simon. Can you not make it?” Baz raises an eyebrow.  “I can.” Simon shrugs. “I’d rather not.”

It was Dazai’s fingers tangling with Atsushi’s under the desk as they read together after Atsushi finished his work for the day. It was the warm mouth on Atsushi’s when the setting sun made the library glow gold. The library was not home without Dazai anymore. From the very beginning, he was a part of what made this place special.

(Platonic Tommy Shelby x Reader) WIP Summary: Arriving home from work, Tommy is surprised to see Finn's best friend waiting on the front step asking for his help. While he holds nothing against the young woman, he hasn’t seen her in months and can’t fathom why she’d come to him for dire help. He also can’t help but be curious about the bundle of blan.... why is it moving?… No…no no no. Please tell Tommy that Finn didn’t just do what Tommy thinks he did. After all in Tommy’s mind: a distressed female carrying a squirming bundle of blankets and looking for a certain Shelby man’s help can only mean one thing… The Shelby Family’s about to meet another surprise member...again…. And maybe they are, but not in the way he first thinks. 

In which we also see how much of a little "horse girl" Thomas Shelby really is after Y/N makes the mistake of calling Horses nothing more than “Field Deer”…

WIP Wednesday

Thanks for the tag @you-remind-me-of-the-babe! I am also sitting in a cafe just writing, watching the rain, and tackling my own challenging time elements. If I can give any words of encouragement, it is that it is so hard but also so worth it once you get it right!

I am now eleven chapters deep into The Eternal Life of Baz Pitch, which was going to be 14 chapters but is now looking more like 15. Who could have guessed it would take more than one chapter to successfully execute a slow burn? (ha!)

Again, can't reveal too much of what I've been working on, but here is a snippet I wrote this week from much later in the fic that could honestly make sense in just about any SnowBaz fic.

“I know all about that kind of hurt.” Baz brings his hands to rest on top of Simon’s and squeezes. “When you love someone so much you can’t breathe. When losing them feels like having your heart ripped out of your ribcage.” “It’s death.”  “It’s not.” Baz squeezes harder. “Not having someone to love at all is so much worse.”
