Shunsui

Please don’t give this man a pet. He wouldn’t be sober enough to look after it properly 😂 probably just a mouse that keeps sneaking into his home that he doesn’t have the heart to get rid off. Will leave little bits of food near the hole in the wall when he remembers. Probably calls him Mouse-san, and enjoys the girly squeals of his latest sexual conquests when Mouse-san scurries across the room

Jushiro

He gives me “cat man” vibes. A chill pet, that doesn’t need loads of attention, easy to look after when he’s unwell. Likes to curl up on Ukitake’s lap when he’s out on his deck enjoying some tea. Will have plenty of toys to play with it. I imagine he found it as a stray, felt so bad he bought it some food and was delighted when it followed him home. For some reason the cat hates Shunsui and will swipe at his legs whenever he passes. Ukitake is unaware of the time Kyoraku tried to drunkenly give the cat some of his sake.

Byakuya

So fish is pretty obvious right? 😂 other than that, I can see him with a little song bird. He’ll have a beautiful cage made for his little companion. The birds song soothes him, he enjoys listening to it when he’s working or meditating. It’s his favourite way to be woken up

Gin

Again, snake is too obvious 😂 though I do think he would enjoy reptiles. They’re not in need of massive amounts of care. I could see him with a chameleon, just perched on his shoulder as he goes about his business. Will lie about what it’s different colours means “oh why has he turned blue? He only does that when he’s around those of less intelligence” *gives the asker a knowing 👀

Urahara

Pet rock. This man cannot look after a living animal 😂 he can hardly brush his own hair. He gets too focused and intense in his work, he’ll be locked up in there for days without stopping to eat or bathe, he will never remember to feed the animal. Pet rock is the safest 😂

Aizen

Can I say a mirror? 😂 the only thing Aizen would willingly take care of is himself. I can’t think of a single animal he would like. Unless you’ll accept Grimmjow as a pet 😂 he enjoys watching him, but hasn’t a care for his wellbeing. Good think Grimmjow can take care of himself…kinda

Kensei

Finally, a normal pet! Kensei gives me dog vibes 🙌 he’ll go out running with him, teach him all kinds of tricks. Gets on the floor and gives him a big fuss when no one is looking. Accidentally slips into baby talk when playing with him “who’s a good boy? You’re a good boy! Yes you are!” Shinji still teases him about it

I once had a bizarre shipping era that consisted of these two💀🗿👩🏽‍🦯 I wholeheartedly and unironically loved this ship for the longest time and idek why😭 this was years ago but the feeling still remains strong in my mind whenever I’m reminded of it😂 anyway, I decided to sketch them and I was actually just gonna leave this as a flat color drawing but went overboard as you can see. I also strongly believe Rukia thrives on workplace romance/drama. Couldn’t tell you why but she just gives that vibe.

There was also a time where I scoured the internet for fics of these two and there actually was some fics, I think there might actually be some recent ones too which surprised me when I was making this and decided to find some. They’re also written by the same authors too which I find hilarious and painful for my shipping heart. I feel like Yachiru would be a complete goober in any type of situation involving the two, even more so when she sees Hanataro being a shy clutz.

I loved Zaraki when he came into the story but overall hate how much of a molerat his spiky hair style makes him look.💀😭it was such a pain to draw and it still doesn’t even look right but oh well. Love that he gets to let that mane down someways later on in the story, which I haven’t gotten to. I left off on the climax of the Aizen arc💀 I really want to make more bleach art but the characters designs are a bit more complex than I’m used to which is why they take me so much time. I’ve had two UlqHime pieces in my drafts for yrs and I don’t think I’ll ever get to finish them🗿

Anyways Hanataro has been a favorite of mine ever since his intro and with the way he helped Rukia cemented his place in my fav list. He’s such a cute goober.😤💖

Sosuke Aizen:

I feel like he’d be a robotics engineer, or work with AI development. This way he can actually create the perfect minions and program them exactly as he wants them to be. No more misbehaving espada or incompetent subordinates.

He seems like he’d collect rare, vintage wines as a hobby, or collect art (he gives me rich, snooty art thief vibes for some reason, idk)

Since he’s a rich tech genius. He’ll have a gorgeous mansion somewhere in the LA hills, complete with infinity pool and plenty of other rich debutantes fawning over him.

Relationships wise, I feel like he enjoys spoiling the person he wants to be with, but won’t commit too easily. If he does fall in love, he’s not interested in putting labels on it, or marriage. But he expects loyalty and will be faithful to you. But badger him with the question ‘what are we?’ And he’ll lose interest pretty fast. He’s made his intentions clear and if you’re still desperate for a label, he’s not going to put up with you.

Jushiro Ukitake:

I’ve written a few modern HC’s for him already which can be read here. But to add a few more:

He’s definitely going to be a doctor. There will be plenty of people at the hospital he works for that are in love with him. He has the pick of the dating pool.

He’ll probably start a podcast where he talks about good health habits, and also about rare diseases, as well as offer tips from his own health experiences. He’s very modest about it, but a lot of people do tune in.

Loves to listen to ASMR as a form of relaxation.

In a relationship, I do believe he will find someone he thinks is ‘the one’ and commit hard. He’s already married in his mind once he finds this person, all the things he does are just an extension of what to expect from him once he becomes a husband.

Do I think Aizen and Ukitake could ever become a couple? I feel like the answer is no (imo) because Ukitake seems to detest Aizen’s principles as seen in the end of the SS arc. I see no common ground between these two over which they could bond and become more. (This panel)

Renji????? Excuse me, but respectfully, what. Aizen-san? Aizen-SAN? What is this?

I cannot conjure a single reason or reasonable circumstance where anyone in the Gotei--vice-captain and below--would not refer to a captain with the honorific -taichou. Maybe this read-through will prove me wrong, but I don't... I don't think so? Especially Renji, because I have always felt that if any VC were going to win a speedrun of "list all the captains," it would be Renji. (Nanao also knows this info well; Renji can just shout faster.) I should probably revise this headcanon based on the fact that he doesn't remember that Hitsugaya exists and he's out here Aizen-san'ing his former captain, but I shall not be.

Renji just seems like the kind of person who would study all the captains, and kinda have them all clocked. I feel like if Renji and Rukia had spent more time in school together, they would have ended up making Captain trading cards. Renji would supply all the info, and Rukia the illustrations. They'd be study guides, technically, but Rukia figures, I am not drawing all these dumb captains unless we can monetize this, and they start a whole trading card micro-empire. (Renji does propose this to Kira and Hinamori, but Kira thinks its gauche and Hinamori doesn't think anyone would need captain trading cards because there's only 13 of them to memorize. Just keep writing your share of the kidou flashcards, Renji, there are over 9000. Well, maybe one captain flashcard.)

Punk vibes he may have, but Renji's also well aware of how rank works and he will walk the walk; he's a company man. (Yes, he challenges his own captain in open combat in the middle of an active invasion. He does do that. But he knew that's what he was doing, and the contrast is the point--)

Renji does later call him Aizen-taichou, so there's that:

What momentary madness took him over. Was it the squiggly dialogue that threw him off? Was it the stress of dropping Rukia off at her execution tower? Who has he been hanging out with who'd call Aizen 'Aizen-san' and poison his BRAIN like that. Though lol, Ichimaru does refer to Byakuya as "Kuchiki-taichou-san" when he and Zaraki go pop in at the 6th, so maybe it was thinking about Ichimaru that addled him.

Because we also have Renji and Ichimaru, who at least in his internal narrative Renji doesn't seem to respect all that much. He says "Ichimaru no yarou," which is a masculine, crude way of referring to someone. To a superior officer (or honestly any co-worker), it's rude as hell. Though, granted, Renji is only being as rude about Ichimaru internally as Hitsugaya is rude about Renji out loud, so. XD Take that as you will.

But it does make me wonder about what their VC-subordinate relationship was like, what the circumstances of Renji's leaving the 5th were, and whether Kira's devotion to Ichimaru came out of his time in the 5th or whether it was cultivated only afterward, in the 3rd. And if it was in the 5th, how did this impact Renji and Kira's relationship? I'm in love with all of these potentials. Honestly I'm kind of into the idea that the Nerd Squad were all kind of mid about Ichimaru as a VC, and that when Kira eventually ends up becoming VC of 3rd he's resigned about it--only for the relationship to change. And at some point Renji realizes he can't joke about Ichimaru with Kira any more, like they used to.

I don't even know their names but between being Ukitake's foster kids and Rukia's foster parents the tension between them is unbearable. It absolutely certainly definitely reaches a breaking point every so often.

8) Kyoraku and Ukitake

They're annoying just to be in the same room with. Kyoraku will say some shit like "You see Ukitake-san, two parallel lines can travel together for eternity but will never meet" and Ukitake'll go "Ah, what a poetic observation, Kyoraku-san! Such a truly tragic fate!" and everyone else in the room has either left by now or are wishing they could either kill these two or themselves. This has been going on for centuries now and shows no signs of ever changing.

7) Madarame and Yumichika

Gayass dumbass duo. Literally there is no reason for them to behave the way they do. Yumichika will go "In the 11th Squad we will watch each other die without interfering for death is preferable to loss. This is the way of the Zaraki squadron" and then trip over his feet running off to save Ikkaku's ass in the same breath. They fuck but never acknowledge it ever.

6) Rangiku

She's way too competent and confident and appreciative of a good time to not be getting laid whenever she likes, barring the possibility that she's ace. Not much more needs to be said

5) This King:

He would be much higher on this list if he wasn't the subordinate of that crusty ass espada. You KNOW they keep him way too busy to fuck nearly as much as he'd like to.

4) Whatever the hell these four had going on:

I don't yet know their backstories but their interactions with each other, their vibes. Probably an extremely toxic polycule but you KNOW they fuck.

3) Yoruichi

Girl got the most game out of any character in the show, gives no fucks and takes no shit. The only reason she's not #1 is because the #1 and 2 positions are taken by people who fuck an unreasonable amount for human beings.

2) Aizen

Given the way the Espada talk about him you know he's drowning in that Arrancar meat. No further notes, absolutely rancid vibes, reeks of toxicity and would be drowning in bitches irl too.

Okies, so let’s see if I can deliver those vibes. 😁

Quick note: Just a reminder that these shinagami/soul reapers live for thousands of years. So, they can potentially keep having enough kids to fill a division over their lifetime. For this I’m focusing more on how many kids are in the house at a pre adult age.

Shunsui - 2 to 4. Keep in mind that Shunsui has lived a very long time. He’s seen a lot of tragedy as well as triumph. Having children will bring quite a few positive benefits to his life: 1) Reminding him what innocence and child-like wonder feel like. 2) Distracting him from dark thoughts. It’s hard to mull over the past when you have kids to keep you on your toes. 3) Always has someone to play games with. 4) (perhaps the most important) Little helpers to fetch Daddy’s sake cups or hunt down any that have gone on an adventure.

Jushiro - (Does this even come as a surprise?) 2++++basically as many as his wife is willing to bear. Jushiro comes from a large family and has a lot of siblings. He will happily keep the Seireitei stocked with his progeny. Seriously, give that man a wife that wants a big family and you won’t be able to toss a pebble without hitting an Ukitake.

Byakuya - 1 to 3. Carrying on the family bloodline is important to Byakuya. He was an only child so he will want at least 2 children so that they can have a sibling, a forever ally and friend that will always be there no matter what. <-(Rukia’s influence on him) His view of having children will be to keep the family small and tightly knit. Byakuya will want to devote love and time to kids so keeping the family small will offset any demands of nobility.

Gin - 1. Gin has the ability to go all in, but it’s usually with a narrow focus. One child will be perfect for him because all his energy and love is going to given that child and their mother. Soul-deep loyalty and putting someone he loves before everything including his own life is just one of the qualities that makes Gin an amazing man. Great husband, even greater father.

Aizen - 0, maybe 1. Sosuke doesn’t have the capacity for love or commitment beyond himself. There may come a time when he gets an inclination to sire an offspring, but it will most likely be to pass on his skewed ideals. However, since Sosuke wanted to become a god, there is no room for a child that could potentially grow up to surpass him. His ego would never allow it.

Tosen - 0. Kaname’s worldview was altered so negatively he would never consider bringing a child into it. Given his history, it’s sad but understandable.

Kenpachi - 1 to 3. Kenny has plenty of practice being a Daddy. He’s perfectly content to let them hang on him, follow him around, spar with wooden swords, gorge themselves on candy, and do just about whatever they want. His wife will be teaching him right along with the first kid when it comes to discipline and boundaries for children. Also, Kenny’s pretty sure that it’ll only take 3 of his kids to finally take him down in a fight, once they’ve grown up, of course. (EDIT: Let me clarify...I don't mean Kenny's kids will kill him! I mean beat him in a fight. Let's not go that dark, please.)

My top 5 Bleach women and why I love them: Part 1

(Some of this based on what makes them awesome, or how they're written. Also, this is Part 1 of the entire post, so it'll only show the first 3 characters, due to Tumblr's limit on how many links/media I can use.)

5/5. Ikumi Unagiya \~ Owner of Unagiya Shop

Why?

It’s an unique choice since she doesn’t get that much screen time compared to the others but I really think she’s got a fun personalty and somewhat of a good adult character in a shonen manga that doesn’t have many adults that’ll be there for the MC on an emotional level.

In the Fullbringer arc, she’s one of the only adults in Ichigo’s life who tries to be there for him even with her unawareness of shinigami and hollows. Ikumi still reminds him that he is a kid and he should be able to rely on her, and I think it’s really profound that she says this but Ichigo hasn’t ever really believed in that for most of his life.

Another underrated moment is her getting Ginjo to stop subtly upsetting Ichigo and made him leave her shop. Ginjo wasn’t even a villain at this point but Ikumi still knew the questions he was saying about Ichigo’s dad and his family were screwing with Ichigo’s mind. Maybe I’m giving her too much credit for being a reliable adult for a shonen manga, however it still puts her in my list.

Even in the TYBW arc, she’s still there to be a form of stability to Ichigo who goes through hell before visiting her. Her personality between a dependable, intuitive adult and a stubborn woman who kidnaps teenage employees in broad daylight is what stands out to me as a character.

4/5. Tier Harribel \~ Tres Espada

Why?

Her whole look with the jacket and the hollow mask is honestly pretty cool to see in the series and her serious, calm personality is nice to see among the Espada. Plus her motif as the ‘Espada of Sacrifice’ adds a whole new layer of her concern for her Fraccion, like Nel who was the former 3rd. Her sword release is also dope, “Tiburon”.

In the Arcancar arc, she only gets one main fight (which she got done dirty on) and then gets betrayed by Aizen, but at least I have to appreciate the moments throughout the arc that build her character.

Again, it’s really rare here to see an Arcancar care about their own considering the whole process of Hollows devouring each other from Menos Grande - Adgjunchas - Vasto Lordes. Plus, having the balls to go up to Head-Captain Yamamoto and say you’ll avenge your subordinates is pretty insane.

The series could have used her more outside of the Arcancar arc but in TYBW arc, she was the ruler of Hueco Mundo and saved Nel & friends from Yhwach. However, they forgot about her for the rest of the TYBW arc which I’m hoping the anime will fix, maybe adding a scene. In the timeskip, she’s adjusted to the role of it all and looks OP af, I personally love this look on her.

Appearance-wise, it’s obvious how stunning how she is honestly.

I used to think “Harribel” was her first name but Tier is actually her first name.

3/5. Unohana Retsu \~ Squad 4 Captain and First Kenpachi

Why?

Almost every Bleach fan loves Unohana but besides the obvious mommy vibe she gives, I really appreciate the dual traits she's had. I really love how she’s a healing captain whose committed to the Gotei 13, and how it’s revealed later that she was one of the original Gotei 13 and the First Kenpachi. The way she holds herself from the beginning of her debut to her death, she always been caring to those she healed and worked with but held a intimidating demeanor around her.

Battle is everything - Bleach Vol. 59

Kubo’s character design is something that took me a while to realize there’s certain symbolism in it. Unohana’s mainstream design is much more meaningful when you find out the core of her character and how she started. The braid she puts her hair in resembles chains that Unohana put on herself to hide away her past of immense bloodlust as the First Kenpachi like the scar on her chest.

At the core of her character, fighting is everything to her considering the environment she’s grown in. The Soul Society and Yamamoto has harnessed her strength and killing prowess for the sake of protecting their interests. One of the themes of Bleach is the “The Heart” where many characters and groups have revolved around the belief of what the heart means to them. Unohana’s role in TYBW shows how her heart is centered around fighting and how her sin is the foundation of her persona as the kindhearted, healing Captain of Squad 4.

I always heard criticism about how Unohana got centered around Kenpachi and got killed for Kenpachi’s development, but I point to the overall themes of the story and how shinigami like Unohana who had to fight harshly to survive in the Rukon district. They often centered or associated themselves around another person who brings a feeling, emotion or sensation within them, that drives them to do actions in a story.

Learning healing kido to extend a fight for who knows how long is a pretty unique concept for the whole medical character trope. It’s so riveting to me that even through healing others, Unohana was helping the other shinigami live on for another fight which is something Kenpachi advocated to Ikkaku, besides doing her job. In her final battle, she was doing that not for Kenpachi but for the sake of the Soul Society’s survival. Thus, her heart and purpose might be with Kenpachi now, but she found meaning outside of her original role for centuries, and briefly enjoyed peace from being a fighter of bloodlust until the Wandenreich arrived.

Ship It - Kyoraku/Ukitake

1. What made you ship it?

They just always had the Old Married Couple vibe to them, to be quite honest... It feels natural and organic.

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

The unwavering trust they always have on one another. The unspoken communication they have. They're just... Perfect.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I don't... Think so...?

At least no one ever said anything about it, but then again I really do not speak too much about them.

I've Included them in my fanfics, where they have history with Byakuya through family ties with his mother and friendship with his father, but I admit I haven't really given them the spotlight.

Don't Ship It - Shinji/Aizen

1. Why don't you ship it?

I don't ship either of them with anyone really. Love Shinji, but not enough to care about pairing him with anyone... Just as the occasional Chaotic Uncle to the Second Gen kids and instigator of betting pools.

Aizen was the perfect villain for Bleach, but I don't really think about him fanfic wise...

2. What would have made you like it?

More backstory than the one Kubo is able to write, for sure... More lore, more facts...

Where did Aizen and Shinji come from? How old are they? How did they become Shinigami? How did they meet?

3. Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

I see the appeal and it's not a NOTP for me. I can see the potential for so much angst when Aizen's betrayal (during TBTP) of Shinji happened...

MY favourite bleach head canons in no particular order

1. the idea that all shinigami in gigai give off uncanny valley vibes

Basically like Isshin, whose not quite human but not quite shinigami, meets some of Ichigo’s friends when he was a kid like Tatsuki and she obviously met his mom before and she was nice so she wasn’t expecting much from his dad and then she meets him and her first reaction is ‘what the fuck is that???’

The kurosaki kids, who have grown up with their dad and have pretty high levels of reiatsu, don’t actually realize this while their human friends just instinctually avoid Isshin ‘cause they feel like something’s off about him

of course over time and with extended exposure to Ichigo’s reiatsu, the weirdness kinda fades away but anyone outside of Ichigo’s circle generally avoids all the shinigami that come to Karakura in gigai for those reasons

2. all animals hate shinigami except cats and crows

literally for no reason besides the fact that I like them

I love the idea of shinji with his creepy ass smile just perched on top of a telephone pole and if he stays still long enough, crows will start sitting on him XD

I also have cats that I love and I love the idea of Ichigo just chilling on his bed with an orange cat and doing the purring thing with it while he’s sleeping

And then when he goes to a pet store with Rukia because she wants to see bunnies, all the animals go ballistic anf they get kicked out XD

3. the visored + ichigo with animalistic traits

laying down on hot things because it feels nice on their skin and soothes something in their lizard brains

eyes that flash hollow yellow when they feel intense emotion (inspired the scene in the anime where Aizen says that hollowification is faster when agitated so emotions heavily affect their appearance

I like the idea that they get very tactile with people they care about (not in a romantic way) and they get into little wrestling matches over stupid stuff because that’s they’re idea of playing and bonding

Shinji gives cat vibes, you can’t even tell me he doesn’t just look at him. When cats make eye contact as they push something off the table- that’s him

I also really like the idea of the hollowification affecting their zanpakuto. Given that Ichigo was pretty much born with his hollow, he doesn’t notice the different the way the Visored do 

Shinji’s whole standing upside down and reversing the gravity on himself, I like the idea that it came after his hollowification and if he wishes he can do it to others

Idk if there’s any jjk manga readers her but you know that attack kenjaku has where he makes you feel like you’re falling but you’re not really? He does it to Yuji a few times when he’s fighting mahito and I love the idea of Shinji having that ability, just completely fucking up their sense of reality and direction

I haven’t thought of the other visored abilities but from my other AU that I will never write, I mentioned that Kaien was hollowified as well so I love the idea of him just being completely obsessed with everything water related and having an affinity for any water type kido and being able to control minor amounts of water without actually drawing Nejibana and being able to breath under water

4. all zanpakuto spirits do commentary in their weilders head

but only ppl like Ichigo and Toushiro who have incredibly powerful spirits that they can literally talk to in the middle of a fight can actually hear

Like Zabimaru, haineko, and all the other zanpakuto are just constantly making fun or nitpicking the way their weilder uses them

But Ichigo is the only one who has to suffer through Zangetsu (Shiro) cackling in his head while Toushiro gets useful feedback and Ichigo’s just completely done with him

a sadder headcanon: all zanpakuto spirits talk to their weilders regularly however, the Visored because of their own fear of their hollowification have estranged themselves from their zanpakuto spirits and like Shiro is hostile with Ichigo in canon, the others are like ten times worse

5. If Ichigo every actually seals his zanpakuto, he’d be incredibly sensitive to reiatsu (I forgot to add this one the first time and I didn’t wanna make another post XD)

I personally love this little explanation of Ichigo’s powers and you know how Ichigo is just really shitty at sensing reiatsu at the beginning? Shinji commented on it a couple times and seemed pretty confused by it.

I think that part of the reason why he’s so bad at it-- especially after the SS arc ‘cause remember he was actually pretty good at sensing back then-- is because after he achieved Bankai, Hollow Zangetsu was in control rather than OMZ and with that switch in power came a significant uptick in his own reiatsu to the point where Ichigo actually feels like he’s being crushed by his own power and he can feel how close Shiro is for the first time and he’s actually scared of his own power

Hiyori even comments about how he’s scared of his own bankai because the distance between him and Shiro decreases everytime he gets stronger since Shiro gets stronger with him

Anyways, we’re not devolving into an analysis about Ichigo and Shiro but eventually Ichigo learns how to sense things properly even with his own reiatsu

So when he finally seals Zangetsu and he’s no longer covered by his own power because it’s finally sealed, he’s gonna be sensing things so much stronger and get sensory overload only it’s ✨reiatsu sensitivity✨

6. Souls in the Society age until they find an appearance both they and their reiatsu level is comfortable with (Another one because I’m an idiot and I forgot)

Excluding Toushiro’s weird case of appearanc shifting but I guess that could be attributed to his bankai’s weirdness that I don’t know much about

I don’t think we’ve gotten on actual explanation on how souls age so I’ve decided to apply this hc

Basically the reason why ppl like Unohana, who looks incredibly similar to herself from a thousand years ago, the only difference being how much less sinister she looks and how calm she looks

Plus, all the characters from the Turn back the pendulm arc barely changing over a hundred years is wild

I initially thought of it as comparing every decade a soul lives to ever year a human lives but that didn’t feel right so I chose this

ATLUS has released new information and screenshots for Persona 5 Tactica introducing more about the Yoshiki Kingdom; characters Yusuke Kitagawa, Makoto Niijima, Futaba Sakura, and Haru Okumura; battle techniques, enemies, and difficulty settings; Persona fusion and Lavenza; and day one downloadable content featuring Goro Akechi and Kasumi Yoshizawa.

■ Yoshiki Kingdom

A stark contrast from the French Revolution vibe of Marie’s Kingdom, The Phantom Thieves and Erina now find themselves in a Kingdom reminiscent of mid-1800s Japan.

Before they can even catch their breath, the Phantom Thieves see a woman in crisis. While they successfully save her, they become wanted criminals in the process. According to Yuki, the woman they saved, the Kingdom’s ruler, Yoshiki, is seen as a moral and loving leader, but she claims this is only a façade.

In truth, Kingdom citizens are subject to constant surveillance, excused by a need to watch over the citizens. Anyone who shows a whiff of dissent towards Yoshiki is captured immediately and taken away to perform labor under force.

Joker and the team decide to stand up to Yoshiki. To do so, they must free the imprisoned citizens in military posts throughout the Kingdom.

To avoid the watchful eye of Yoshiki’s Legionnaires, who he calls the Aizen Squad, the Phantom Thieves are led by Yuki to a local kimono shop.

After disguising as samurai, geisha, and other citizens, the team decides to enact Toshiro’s diversionary strategy so as to escape with the imprisoned citizens unharmed.

While the team’s plan is successful, their joy is short-lived. Yoshiki descends from the sky, his serene demeanor now replaced with a terrifying rage. Now the Phantom Thieves and friends will face the full might of this Kingdom’s ruler.

■ Characters

Yusuke Kitagawa (voiced by Matthew Mercer in English, Tomokazu Sugita in Japanese)

A second-year art student from Kosei High School, well known for his artwork. Although his trusted mentor used to take advantage of those skills, once Yusuke met the Phantom Thieves, he finds the strength to stand up to his mentor. In the process he awakens to his Persona and joins the Phantom Thieves. Although his good looks often draw the attention of others, because of his artistic inclinations, his behavior is eccentric enough to be off-putting to some people. His Persona is Goemon.

Makoto Niijima (voiced by Cherami Leigh in English, Rina Sato in Japanese)

A third-year student and the class president of Shujin Academy. Influenced by her strict sister, she always felt she had to be a responsible student. She used to be a floormat to the staff at her school, but after breaking out of her shell, she awakens her Persona and joins the Phantom Thieves. She assumes the role of the reliable, older sister in the group, and is a physical brawler who uses her fists to fight in battle, which can make her scary sometimes. Her Persona is Johanna.

Futaba Sakura (voiced by Erica Lindbeck in English, Aoi Yuuki in Japanese)

A genius hacker who, at one point, grabbed the attention of the world. She initially lived a life of recluse, as adults around her made her believe she caused her own mother’s death. Although she initially struggled with social interactions and talking to people face-to-face, by regaining her true memories, she awakens her Persona. In the Phantom Thieves, she provides a navigator role, supporting her teammates from the sidelines. Her Persona is Necronomicon.

Haru Okumura (voiced by Xanthe Huynh in English, Haruka Tomatsu in Japanese)

The daughter of the CEO of Okumura Foods, a large fast-food chain. At one point, she was forced into an arranged marriage agreement from her father, and she wasn’t free to live as she chose. After awakening to her Persona, she finds the courage to stand up to her father. In the process, she loses him, but continues the fight after overcoming her grief. Although she is gentle and well-mannered, she’s can also be a bit scary at times. Her Persona is Milady.

■ Character Swapping

During your turn, you can switch between the three active party members whenever you desire.

Until you finalize your actions, you can switch between characters and experiment with their positions, so take your time making your decisions.

Switching between characters is vital to setting up the all-out attack called a Triple Threat!

This can turn the tide of battle in your favor, or even finish it in one fell swoop!

■ Strike Down Enemies

In this title, standing at a higher level yields certain advantages. Strike down enemies with melee attacks to knock them down!

In addition, if you knock an enemy toward a party member, you can trigger follow-up attacks! Aside from additional damage, these can even provide extra turns. Keep these in mind when strategizing!

Before you knock down an enemy, try to position a party member nearby! Keep an eye out for the FOLLOW! icon! This will allow you to trigger a follow up attack! And CRITICAL score! An Extra Turn is activated!

■ A Diverse Range of Enemies

Aside from the standard ranks of Marie’s Legionnaires known as Musketeers, enemies like Grenadiers, who strike back immediately when attacked, and Drummers, who use buffs and healing skills, also await you.

Charge into battle without a plan and they’ll make you regret it!

—Musketeers specialize in ranged fire.

—Grenadiers excel in melee, and leap at any attackers.

—Drummers aren’t a threat alone, but with their healing and buffing skills, they make for challenging groups.

■ Difficulty Settings

If your party member’s HP reaches 0 during a battle, don’t lose hope—you can immediately Baton Pass to someone else in your reserves!

There are also five difficulty settings that can be changed at any time. If you’re struggling with a certain fight, or if the battles feel too easy, try changing the difficulty!

Even when your HP is 0, you can swap between non-active party members. Always keep an eye out for Baton Passes!

Difficulty levels include Safety, Easy, Normal, Hard, and Risky.

■ Persona Fusions

The Velvet Room resident of this game is Lavenza, now dressed as a blacksmith! Experiment with Persona fusion in an all-new industrial setting!

Fuse Personas obtained in battle to power them up!

Lavenza (voiced by Carrie Keranen in English, Aki Toyosaki in Japanese)

A resident of the Velvet Room in the form of a young girl. She possesses the role of assisting and watching over the protagonist. She is polite, a hard worker, and sometimes eccentric. In the story of Persona 5 Tactica, she wears a blacksmith outfit and is in charge of Persona fusion in the smithy-esque Velvet Room.

Sure!! Putting it under a cut in case it gets long.

I've mentioned this before, but I think it's in this "era" where Aizen adds the final touches of his Nice Guy persona. He is really doting and caring to his fellow squad members and they rely on him. Sometimes it pisses Shinji off how they go to Aizen rather than him sometimes lol.

I'm of the belief that Aizen and Urahara were classmates at the Soul Academy. I think about the line "you're exactly the man I thought you'd be Urahara Kisuke" - which means they knew each other in some capacity. Maybe Kisuke was an upper classmate 🤔

He doesn’t care for living souls, but Aizen as a lieutenant, probably witnessed a lot of technological changes which him (and Kisuke) brought into Soul Society (but they both kept it under wraps). The concept of scientific ethics wasn’t very much established back then, and certainly not in soul society.

I’d like to say he gets a lot of chocolates for Valentine’s Day haha! He has so many admirers, and of course he’s so polite about it and thanks them, but I doubt he eats them (sad).

Kind of related, I don’t think he likes milk chocolate all that much. He seems like a dark chocolate kind of guy, or very into traditional Japanese sweets.

I don’t wanna say he’s a foodie by any means, but I think Aizen will try any food so he can be able to say he’s tried it and have an opinion of it. At the same time, he’s not “passionate” about food, he’ll like to do fine dining, he respects the effort put into a dish, but that’s it. I think a part of it is because he wants to be perceived as being well-mannered and “cultured”.

Lieutenant Aizen looks like the kind of guy to try and manage a book club, but it’s really just a way for him to vibe check people lol. I think about the snippet of how (as a captain) he lent Momo some of his books, and she read them, but didn’t care for the topics. Makes me laugh lol.

Aizen probably never thought about sharing his poems, but Shinji (rudely) read one and jokingly said he should publish it in the Sereitei newspaper/journal. Because Aizen’s petty, he did and they offered him a column because his poetry skills are unmatched.
