i had a lot of issues with s4 but i genuinely believe that max’s arc in s4 was one of the best things they have ever done in this show and i don’t think the graveyard scene nor her death scene will ever leave me. the way that so many people have connected to her and her story is incredibly moving. you don’t need to have experienced 1980s indiana or battles with lovecraftian horrors to  wrap yourself in max’s pain, her quiet distance, her panic when she finally realizes she wants more time just as her clock is running out. i just. i don’t know. the duffers got that really, truly right.

I used to do Belegarth! Unfortunately there's not a league anywhere near me, as far as I know, and I don't think I'd have the time to keep up with it these days. It is a riot though!

Since 2022 is almost done, here are some games and TV shows that I watched this year.  This was the year where I got heavily back into TV vs. gaming, specifically obsessing over the show Severance which was completely up my alley and I loved it so much.  Definitely looking forward to a ton of games next year, and I’m especially stoked for Star Wars: Jedi Survivor.  Here’s to 2023 and thank you guys for your continued support of this silly fanart blog!

In fact, being thankful in the face of fear seems odd, possibly phony. Is Paul recommending that we ‘fake it till we make it'? No. We see multiple references in Scripture to how much God hates pretense and posturing. But in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, Paul again says to give thanks in all situations because that is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus. All situations? Is that even possible? Can we actually thank God as we wait in that sterile hospital room? Can we thank Him when we are plagued with worry about the future of a prodigal child? Can we thank Him through the storms of a difficult marriage? Isn’t that an unrealistic instruction? Would God actually ask us to do something so counter-intuitive to our anxious state of mind? Yes, He would, and, yes, He does because our Creator knows exactly how we are wired and what we need. In turning our eyes to Jesus in thanksgiving, we are able to take our white-knuckle grip off our problems. This is not about faking it, but acknowledging and remembering God in the midst of the hard. Thanksgiving turns our eyes from our situation to our Saviour, from our overwhelming problems to His overwhelming love. We don’t give thanks because the situation merits it. We give thanks because of Who He is in the midst of our situation. We give thanks for what He may be doing in and through us when those unbearable trials descend on us. We can hold both our anxiousness and thanksgiving together. His Word tells us to do just that. We often tell ourselves a solely negative story, and in doing so we forget God's hand of blessing in our lives. We tend to focus so exclusively on our problems that we overlook how God led us through storms in the past. Even as we speak to Him about our trials, we must also spend time in thanksgiving– because even in the wilderness and the weariness, Christ is with us. His grace is sufficient, and He has promised to work all things out for our good and His glory.

So I was stuck in traffic today and I decided to give my cuz’n a call ….

#her 2yr old son answered the phone - exasperated #he just kept saying ‘where are you?’ #and my cuz took the phone and said ‘your ears must have been on fire’ #and im just asking is everything ok? whats going on? and thats when she tells me #a story that got me so choked up i had to pull over: #so it turns out she was out grocery shopping with her son and he insisted on carrying her reusable grocery bag #but he is only 2 and the bag is almost bigger than him and its completely full #but he insists - so my cuz sits the bag down and lets him try thinking he will give up when he sees its too heavy #and he was trying and trying but the bag hardly moved and when his mom offered to take some items out he got upset #saying he could do it. so hes on the verge of a meltdown bc the bag isnt really moving that much #and she said he just sat there next to the bag and she is watching his little mind trying to problem solve it #and all of a sudden he goes - ‘uncle odin help me!’ #and my cuzn tells him im not there but he just gets louder and louder calling for me to come and help him 😢 #and out of desperation she gave him her phone to pacify him - and right at that moment was when i happened to call #and as im pulled over on the side of the road and she is telling me all this i can hear him asking where am i and how long until im there #and there i was stuck on the i-4 interchange about an hour away wishing i had a flying car or sum #but i was able to calm him down and told him to let his mom carry it *this* time #and next time i would try to be there to help him #i felt so honored that *eye* was the 1st thought he had for help #i dont see them that often - maybe once every other week or so? #anyway ….. dont let anyone tell u that men dont have biological clocks too #bc its been a long time since i felt such an intense urge to be a baby daddy #gotta hurry up and find mrs right now tho - im 2 yrs away from 40 #if i wait too much longer ​any games of catch gon be played in a nursing home - lol
