#2018 Nintendo Switch Games for Girls

Note
Was recently replaying some of the No More Heroes games on Switch, and remembered the hype leading up to No More Heroes III. Do you remember any speculation or theories about the game leading up to it's release? I remember the big one was a leaked screenshot from one of the visual novel segments showing what seemed to be Young Harman Smith.
WARNING: This post contains spoilers for No More Heroes 3 as well as Flower, Sun, and Rain.
I remember that! I don't blame folks for thinking that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I recall thinking it might be Aramata from Moonlight Syndrome, not that it would make much sense if it was.
Tumblr media
Anyway, I recall a few other theories. A lot of people--including myself--were expecting appearances by the likes of Kusabi or Kuroyanagi. This speculation came from the end of the first NMH3 trailer from E3 2019 when Sylvia was calling out codenames at the end.
Tumblr media
"The Tiger has awakened . . . red, green, dark, black, blood."
In The 25th Ward remake, as well as a few other stories Suda has written recently, many characters were given color codenames to represent them. Midori Midorikawa, a boss in NMH3, went by Green. Kuroyanagi goes by Black, etc. Of course, perhaps people--including myself-- just jumped the gun because now this can basically be a way of describing the alien goons and the multi-colored blood they tend to spill out.
Tumblr media
A lot of us were also giving credence to Travis Strikes Again and how so many characters appeared in the visual novel segments, thinking everything was going to merge even more-so in NMH3. Although, Suda has said that he originally was going to have more connections, before they got cut.
Tumblr media
I like to think is mostly because Suda can't retain rights to NMH so he'd probably rather wait for an IP he actually owns to encompass what he's established before. Either way, not a lot of this world-merging stuff really makes sense, so these days I'll take it or leave it. Suda has also stated he considers TSA a 'commemorative' title to Grasshopper, hence having so many characters invited to make cameos and such.
Here's one possible example of a removed cameo, the fine folks at believeinthe.net data-mined NMH3 and found a lot of unused emails. Here's one of them;
Tumblr media
People that played Flower, Sun, and Rain can think of one particular talking alligator!
Tumblr media
Screenshot from AdrianVG's dual-playthrough of FSR
I recall another theory, while not directly related to games outside of NMH, that Travis was going to essentially make amends with past villains like Destroyman and Kimmy in order to form his own team to take on Fu and his cronies. And not only that, but every new friend he'd make would utilize the NMH motel as their home base. This came from early previews showing Bad Girl and Shinobu had their own rooms there as well.
Tumblr media
We thought this because one of the taglines from an earlier trailer;
Tumblr media
From the first NMH3 Nintendo Direct Trailer, October 2020
"The Hood" as in people from Santa Destroy. Travis' hood. Didn't really happen, as Travis primarily fought everyone by himself. There was no real team-up until the near-end of the game.
Tumblr media
I just remembered one last theory, that Tokio Morishima was in the game. This came from the very first piece of gameplay we saw all the way back in 2019.
Tumblr media
From the NMH3 trailer first shown at The Game Awards 2019
I understand why people thought this, the spiky hair did remind me of Tokio.
Tumblr media
Of course, what people didn't know at the time was that it was Henry, who was redesigned by Takashi Miyamoto, lead artist for The Silver Case and The 25th Ward.
Tumblr media
At the very least, we did get to see previously established characters appear in NMH3, such as Midori Midorikawa, who Suda first wrote about back in 2018. Although the first time she was visually depicted was in the manga adapting that original story he wrote about 3 years later, but several months before No More Heroes 3 released.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Kamui! At least a version of him, that whole thing is kind of finnicky. Also Notorious, from the Fire Pro Wrestling World DLC on PS4/PC.
Tumblr media
These were the only theories I could recall myself. There could be more, but these were the ones I was most privy to. Thanks for your question!

:-0 no problem if you're not an avid yuri gal! I'd say not a lot has been animated anyway lol. Dragon maid is. Uh. -_-. And I would say adachi n shimamura suffers from "adapted from a light novel so its kinda weird" so I'm not surprised you didnt hook onto those.
If you ever want suggestions you might like slow start or demon girl next door, both pretty fun slice of life comedy affairs. For more action akuma no riddle is still solid.
Enough about that though, we can see you like genshin, but do you play a lot of other games?
Ah, I see! Thanks for the recommendations! It'll probably take me a long while to get around to them (as you can see with my.. very slow ask-answering....) but I'll bear them in mind for whenever I wanna start something new!
anyways, as for games? I'm in a bit of a situation here!! my computer.. SUCKS. it has like NO SPACE!! I only have FOUR GAMES on it!!!!
those being (in order of when I first played them:)
-Minecraft (bedrock) (this computer can't run java and honestly I blame minecraft itself) -Terraria -Genshin Impact -Honkai: Star Rail
I LOVE all of these games SO VERY MUCH!! well, maybe star rail still needs to grow on me, but ALL THE OTHERS I LOVE THEM! this list probably doesn't give you a good idea of what I am as a gamer lol, these are all extremely popular games, I do have a NINTENDO SWITCH!! THOUGH!!! ISN'T THAT COOL??? I still don't believe I have it
here are the games I have on there (in order of hours played)
-Hollow Knight -Hatsune Miku: Project Diva: Mega Mix -Sonic Frontiers -Sonic Mania (plus) -Pokemon Scarlet -Deltarune -Hatsune Miku Logic Paint S -Hatsune Miku Jigsaw Puzzle -PuyoPuyo Tetris 2 -Rain world (mainly got it cuz of pow but GOD is it hard) -Everhood -Ace Attourney
-I also tried out games like A Hat in Time and Stardew Valley, though they were fun to watch, I didn't have much fun playing them. which is sad. I don't know how to refund on switch lol
some of these games only have low hours because I just got them. like ace attourney? under an hour of gametime lol
I'll tell you a little anecdote about each game!!
Hollow Knight: I first played hollow knight at my cousin's house in 2018(or 2019?) I sorta sucked at it. I remember saying "this is just swordigo but, like, better" and I guess I was right? swordigo's a mobile metroidvania I used to play btw lol~ anyways in 2020(??? or 2021?????) one of my favourite youtubers (merg) started playing hollow knight and I was like huh..! this is actually sorta fun?? I didn't have an income nor allowance at the time so I couldn't BUY the game for myself.. so I watched his ENTIRE series before I bought the game for myself!! still, it was fun!
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva: You may not know this game, but there are two modes! arcade mode, and mix mode! arcade mode is like the mode where you hold the joy-cons vertically and use like motion controls and uh it's complicated but basically I LOVE THAT!! I LOVE THE MOTION CONTROLS SO MUCH!! LITERALLY THE ONLY GAME WHERE I LIKE THEM LOL!!! Also! Project Diva is what got me into vocaloid! not the other way round! isn't that cool!!!
Sonic fron... wait. I'm gonna. I'm gonna be typing this post forever
obviously this isn't every game I've played ever, I mean how can any list of moon's favourite games be complete without min hero?? uh, but, I don't wanna be typing this list forever! how about this, if any of those games sounded interesting, say so! I'll give you stories! I have a TON!!
Thanks for the ask!

Lilo, Jumba, Captain Gantu, and Angel are racing to Disney Speedstorm!
Lilo & Stitch is going to burn rubber onto Gameloft's Disney Speedstorm soon!
This past week, beginning from July 17, 2023, the game's official social media accounts on Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube have been sharing concept art for the new Lilo & Stitch track environment that will be added in the game's third season (and the last season for its early access period).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But Gameloft also took the opportunity to tease the four other Lilo & Stitch racers who will be joining Stitch in the new season by hiding the syllables of those racers' names in the concept art. (Zoom in on the images above!) These were followed by a full reveal of their character and kart renders the very next day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Lilo Pelekai, Jumba Jookiba, Captain Gantu, and Experiment 624/Angel ready to tear up some Hawaiian roads, plus two more mystery racers from other Disney franchises joining them, this looks to be Disney Speedstorm's biggest season yet before its full free-to-play release on September 28!
Plus, considering that Speedstorm features voice acting, with many of the various Disney and Pixar characters' original voice actors reprising their roles, this will be the first time in years that Lilo & Stitch and Disney fans will get to hear the beloved little Hawaiian girl Lilo talk again and possibly hear Kevin Michael Richardson, who last voiced Gantu in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep (2010), bringing his deep and authoritative voice back to the massive whale-like alien that put him on the map. Moreso, Angel's original voice Tara Strong could finally be voicing Stitch's pink alien siren girlfriend for the first time since Leroy & Stitch seventeen years ago (unless Gameloft decides to go with her Stitch! anime voice Kate Higgins or another actor). Jumba, meanwhile, will be getting a different voice from his original Western appearance, as David Ogden Stiers died back in March 2018. There is a chance that his anime and Stitch & Ai voice Jess Winfield could be voicing the evil genius again though since the latter's English release; if that's the case, then this will be the first time Winfield voiced Jumba in a Western-produced work.
Season 3 of Disney Speedstorm will be released next month during August, following the conclusion of the Toy Story-focused Season 2: To Infinity and Beyond. As of this writing, the game is currently available in paid early access for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PCs (via Steam, the Microsoft Store, and the Epic Games Store).
For those who missed Stitch's reveal on Stitch Day (June 26) 2023, here's his render.

Scrunkore Media "Thread" 2023: Part 2
Tumblr media
welcome back to the scrunko core
14) Ib (Switch, 2023)
One of the real classics of RPG Maker horror games, upgraded for the modern age in just a few little ways that manage to keep the experience feeling as it should. Ib has a perfectly bizarre and creepy atmosphere, making really good use out of its excellent concept of being trapped in a living art gallery, with decent enough puzzles to keep you engaged throughout. I'm a big fan of its vibes and its exploration of loneliness and art in general, and it has a really strong trio of characters and various different endings that I found myself liking a lot. Now's as good a time as any to check this game out. [4.5★]
15) Everything Everywhere All At Once (Movie, 2022)
Kind of a critical darling as well as an audience favourite around when it came out, and yeah, I agree with everyone else - this movie is fantastic. Really good and creative direction in an absolutely wild ride through parallel universes, family and generational trauma that I'm told can hit really hard for the Chinese-American demographic and others like it but can be enjoyed by just about anyone. It uses its ideas pretty much perfectly, and it has a whole multiverse of them to play with; I was fully engaged throughout the whole experience. It deserved those awards. [5★]
16) Fire Punch (Manga, 2016-2018)
Tatsuki Fujimoto's earlier manga series, wrapping up just before his biggest claim to fame began, really can feel like Chainsaw Man's fucked up older brother - and it kind of is, really. It does touch on some of the same things, but the world is even harsher and the suffering even greater, and the overall mood can seem a lot more nihilistic, but there is hope in there still. It's also a harder read than Chainsaw Man, but it stands alone as a rough tale of struggling through an apocalyptic world, and it gets bonus points from me for its heartbreaking trans character I don't want to spoil. I'm not sure how much I'd recommend it, with the particular kinds of misery involved feeling gratuitous at times, but I am glad I read it. [4★]
17) Super Lesbian Animal RPG (PC, 2022)
The title kind of says it all here, this is a superb RPG about anthro animal girls in lesbian relationships, and it does an excellent job at delivering exactly that with a lot more besides. The whole cast is likeable, even the asshole characters, and the story is a mix of really good fun and powerful emotional beats, naturally being queer as hell to boot. I really appreciate the gameplay too, it's by default a fairly easy game until pretty late, but it's quite well-balanced and goes out of its way to ensure you'll never even think about grinding (levels cap at 30, even), plus a lot of the fights are just really fun. Excellent visuals and incredible soundtrack too, just a perfectly well-rounded super lesbian animal RPG that I have no real complaints with at all. [5★]
18) Tembo the Badass Elephant (PC, 2015)
A little controversial back when it released for daring to be a Game Freak game not on either of the Nintendo consoles in circulation at the time, this game is... well, it's fine. Just a decent enough 2D action platformer that feels like if you modded Wario into a Sonic game with how you can speed through levels smashing up everything in your way, but the level design and even the odd boss fight reminds me of some of the worst parts of Sonic games at times, so I'm not super fond of it. It does have plenty of charm though, with a fun cartoony artstyle and some 3D setpieces that do make one wonder why it wasn't on 3DS. Controlling a badass action hero elephant saving as many people as possible is a neat idea, too. [3★]
19) Picross 3D (DS, 2009)
There have been many different takes on Picross over the years, under many different names as well, but almost nobody has done it quite like HAL did with Picross 3D. It feels like a whole different breed of puzzle, and it is indeed nothing like regular 2D Picross - the transformation into cube-based puzzles makes things far more advanced, often more difficult, and a lot more rewarding. There's not much more to this game other than the massive amount of puzzles to solve and the option to create your own, but it doesn't really need anything else. Some puzzles are extremely hard, but that's alright, and the game is the perfect fit for the DS hardware. [4★]
20) Picross 3D Round 2 (3DS, 2015)
I technically played this a bit later, but I think it makes sense to put this next to the first game. HAL managed to do it again, innovating further on the 3D Picross concept with different shapes that you can turn blocks into - a simple change, but one that goes surprisingly far towards making the game more enjoyable. It's a lot comfier with its presentation too, and there's even some surprisingly great music in there. Not much more to it than that, but it's still filled to the brim with a huge amount of puzzles, including bonus special Amiibo unlocks (there is a homebrew program to bypass this), and that's all I can ask of it once again. I'd hope for a third round, but I don't know that I'd like it as much without stylus controls... [4.5★]
21) The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog (PC, 2023)
Sonic coming out of nowhere on April Fool's with a shockingly high-effort "joke" project was unexpected, but that blue hedgehog does have a way of blindsiding you. The game is a small but lovingly made point-and-click revolving around a murder mystery party with a few fun twists happening towards the end, and it's pretty funny for the most part, so that's the "joke" part down. On top of that, it has a really solid grasp of the characters and how to write them, seemingly on par with the IDW comics, which is more than we've seen from most of the games until fairly recently. It's something of a breath of fresh air, with plenty of fanservice, and my only real complaint is the "THINK!" segments being kind of... not very good. But as a whole, this game is really nice, and I hope they do more creative projects like this in the future. They even got the "self-insert" protagonist right, because they're such a weird and silly one. They should murder Sonic more often! [4★]
22-23) Escaped Chasm/Dweller's Empty Path (PC, 2019/2020)
I'd like to group these together, because they're kind of part of the same interesting project from Temmie Chang (yes, the Undertale Temmie). Both very short RPG Maker games with zero combat and a focus on exploring all the dialogue and plot you can get out of them. Both games have their dark elements, but Escaped Chasm definitely has the most - it's got some upsetting bits, and the ending is rather bittersweet, but I did enjoy the short tale of the lonely girl. It kind of serves as a prequel to Dweller's Empty Path, though you won't know it until you see a certain part. Speaking of which, that game is pretty nice, mostly just being a walking simulator that you can end at any time by going to bed, but there is quite a bit of dialogue for you to see that fleshes out the world and characters, with hints at what might be to come in the future. Both games adopt a Game Boy style pixel art look with minimal colour palettes and I kind of like that about them, and the developer managed to rope in Toby Fox and Camellia for musical contributions, which is awesome. Overall, the games feel like they're setting up something rather interesting, also being rather interesting in themselves, and I hope Temmie is able to do more with this in the future. [3.5★]
24) OFF (PC, 2008)
Another certified RPG Maker classic that has somehow never been re-released in any form, unless you count the official English translation from 2011, and it's certainly an odd one. The vibes are deeply unsettling throughout, the morality of the protagonist is dubious at best, and it has all kinds of strange setpieces showcasing the utterly bizarre lore of its equally bizarre world. It's kind of hard to tell what it's even really about, but it contains themes relating to religion, illness, capitalism and more besides. There are even multiple endings, including a random joke one serving as a "reward" for beating a strange and lengthy secret boss, and honestly I think the game is more of a weird French art piece than anything else. The puzzles and battle system do kind of suck in several areas, so it's all about the feeling of the game in the end, and it certainly made me feel... something. I don't think anyone completely understands this game, but I do like what it tries to do, and I respect it. [3.5★]

Now Playing: Minecraft Earth: Official Release Trailer
To put Minecraft's popularity in context, Epic announced in August 2018 that Fortnite had 78.3 million monthly players. Roblox, a MMO-creation game, reached 100 million monthly active players in August 2019.
Minecraft continues to receive regular updates, and Minecraft was added to Xbox Game Pass in April 2019; this has surely increased the reach of the game further.
Minecraft boss Helen Chiang told Business Insider that Minecraft is a game players enjoy returning to over and over. Chiang stated that although it might not always be the most well-known, there are a lot of amazing games to play. However, they enjoy returning to Minecraft.
Microsoft acquired the Minecraft franchise and developer Mojang in 2014 for $2.5 billion. The creator of the franchise Markus "Notch” Persson has resigned. He paid $70 million for a Beverly Hills mansion, outbidding Beyonce and Jay-Z to purchase the house.
Looking ahead looking ahead, the possibility of a Minecraft movie is on the way. game2hub.net Writer Allison Schroeder (Hidden Figures, Frozen 2) was hired to write the most recent draft of the screenplay The Minecraft movie is scheduled to release in theaters on March 4, 2022. There's no word yet on whether it will be live action, or a hybrid, nor do we know who could be the main character. Steve Carell was reportedly involved in the project in the past, but it's not clear whether this is still the case.

#FREE REALM ROYALE CODES WARHORSE UPDATE#
Similar to other battle royale games, 100 players drop down and pick their desired location on a large map. It's a spin off of the the hero-based shooting game Paladins by the same developer. The game features multiple character classes each with unique abilities. PUBG and Fortnite are similar to this game, but Realm Royale offers a lot of little things, to where Realm Royale is better than other games in its class. Realm Royale is battle royale shooting game, like Fortnite. This game is currently available on PC, Xbox, PS4, and the Nintendo Switch. Also, you can break down loot and use the shards earned to craft additional gear. Loot in this game is pretty accessible and a major criticism of this game has been the fact that loot, not skill is the determining factor in a lot of 1v1 duels. Finally, the assassin has a ghost walk ability that allows him to ignore damage for a short amount of time. The hunter has a special rolling dodge movement ability and can drop proximity mines. The last two classes are more stealth-based classes. Noriko Nakagawa (Aki Maeda), an innocent girl, walks into her classroom to find her teacher Kitano (Takeshi Kitano) alone. The engineer is the perfect support class, complete with turrets, shields, and party healing. Welcome to MPGH - MultiPlayer Game Hacking, the world's leader in Game Hacks, Game Cheats, Trainers, Combat Arms Hacks & Cheats, Crossfire Hacks & Cheats, WarRock Hacks & Cheats, SoldierFront Hacks & Cheats, Project Blackout Hacks & Cheats, Operation 7 Hacks & Cheats. The warrior is the favored class currently because it boasts healing over time and additional armor. Other Semi-Popular First Person Shooter Hacks. If you are an avid Fortnite player one, of the immediate differences you will notice is that there are five unique classes to choose from.
#FREE REALM ROYALE CODES WARHORSE UPDATE#
The original Realm Royale received its last update on February 4th, 2020, while support was officially. Realm Royale turned into its own game after it was one of the Game Modes in Paladins, named Battlegrounds. However, this title is way more than that. Realm Royale Reforged (formerly known as simply Realm Royale) is a free-to-play battle royale and hero shooter hybrid game developed by Heroic Leap Studios and launched on June 5, 2018. When Realm Royale was released, everyone thought it was yet another copy of Fortnite or PUBG. Realm Royale Reforged (formerly known as simply Realm Royale) is a free-to-play battle royale and hero shooter hybrid game developed by Heroic Leap Studios. A refreshing take on the battle royale genreīy adding horses, multiple classes, starting loot, a crafting system, and chicken afterlives, this game found its niche in the battle royale genre.

I desperately wanted to help nearly everyone I came across! It’s a silly, yet tragic, ultimately wholesome experience that I’d recommend to anyone! Eastward is available for purchase on the Nintendo eStore and Steam for $24.99.ģ) Audio & Visuals – An East for the Eyes Story – The Best in the East Trope on a Rope This was the first time in a long time that a game made me feel for its characters. Normally, that wouldn’t be my jam, but they are done so well that I was hooked. But please note, I don’t think this game is for everyone. Stellar writing, simple but polished gameplay, gorgeous visuals, and sound design all come together here spectacularly!Īs you may have guessed by now, I’m going to be recommending Eastward. There are flaws, but I loved every minute of it. It’s a really wonderful thing when you find a game you love, but it genuinely felt like Eastward was made specifically for me. It’s also secured itself as one of my favorite games. The soundtrack was created by aggrotech band Combrichrist and takes them down a more metal-oriented path compared to previous work.Eastward is an action-adventure roleplaying game, developed by Pixpil, that I picked up on the Nintendo Switch recently. If you're on the lookout for a game with excellent industrial metal music, you can't go wrong with Ninja Theory's DMC: Devil May Cry. Yes, they totally got Paramore, Carly Rae Jepsen, Katy Perry, My Chemical Romance, The Pussycat Dolls, and Depeche Mode to re-record some of their biggest hits for the game. Besides the fact that the game lets you do things you wish you could be doing right now (like taking a shower, ordering a pizza, or walking outside), it even has music from the real world in Simlish. The Sims has a way of completely taking over our lives. This game features an interesting selection of songs from different ends of the spectrum from the likes of The Chordettes, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Five Finger Death Punch, to Children of Bodom. In Lollipop Chainsaw, you're a perky cheerleader named Juliet who slays zombies with the head of your boyfriend (still alive and talking, mind you) strapped to your hip. Whether you love it or you hate it, Adult Swim's endless running flash game, Robot Unicorn Attack, is a sure classic from 2010 that will beat your skull with an eternal loop of Erasure's popular synthpop ballad 'Always.' This game has only one song and it's going to keep playing even after you die. Its soundtrack comes with music by Phoenix, Bloc Party, Gorillaz, and Sufjan Stevens. Life Is Strange 2, which came out in 2018 and ended in late 2019, follows the heartbreaking story of brothers Sean and Daniel as they try to understand Daniel's unexplainable abilities and escape to Mexico after an accident outside their Seattle home forces them to run away. The first installment follows best friends (or lovers, it depends on your playthrough) Max and Chloe as they explore Max's power to rewind time and a twisted mystery involving missing girls, backed by tunes by Syd Matters, Local Natives, Bright Eyes, Mogwai, Amanda Palmer, and Foals. Get your heart feeling intense emotions with Dontnod's episodic graphic adventure game Life Is Strange. And what makes it even more epic is the track that backs it up- Skrillex and Damian Marley's 'Make It Bun Dem.' Without a doubt, Kick the Hornet's Nest-that mission on Far Cry 3 where you burn down fields of weed with a flamethrower and evidently have to fight off pirates while you're high-is one of the best moments in gaming history. There's no better soundtrack to set up your rides or run away from the cops than with the extensive catalog from Need For Speed, which is packed with music by Rob Zombie, Static-X, Celldweller, Lil Jon & The Eastside Boys, The Prodigy, Xzibit, The Killing Joke, and more. It includes a handful of additional tracks from the likes of A Tribe Called Quest, Machine Gun Kelly, Reel Big Fish, and The Ataris on top of its iconic soundtrack.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 is the leveled up version of its '90s and early '00s predecessors for today's consoles and PC. This was the game that introduced you and made you fall in love with Goldfinger's 'Superman,' Rage Against the Machine's 'Guerilla Radio,' and The Ramones' 'Blitzkrieg Bop.' Let's face it-before Guitar Hero, you picked up a lot of your punk rock skater jams from the classic Tony Hawk Pro Skater. For K/DA, Riot Games worked with members of (G)I-DLE and TWICE along with Madison Beer, Bea Miller, Kim Petras, Jaira Burns, Wolftyla, Aluna, Bekuh BOOM, Lexie Liu, and Jasmine Clarke.

The game follows a girl named Gris, who wakes up in the palm of a crumbling statue of a woman. She attempts to sing out, but quickly becomes choked up and the statue's hands crumble, dropping her to the colorless earth below. After landing, she continues walking forward and discovers a number of strange structures that seem to be powered by mysterious points of light resembling stars. Gris can collect these lights to gain new abilities, such as turning into a heavy block of stone, and creating new pathways made of constellations.

The Chinese video game industry in the last two decades has grown dramatically and some large companies have managed to establish themselves internationally.
Companies like Tencent now control an important slice of the global gaming industry. Tencent for example, in addition to having full ownership of Riot Games, Funcom, Supercell, has also invested heavily in other large Western companies such as Epic.
Others, on the other hand, have managed to produce important international successes, often thanks to the free-to-play formula.
Chinese video games often prefer forms of online gaming, with cooperative mechanics, both on mobile platforms and PCs, but recently single-player games are also gaining more importance.
Let’s see below some of the greatest successes of the Chinese videogame industry.
In this list we will focus on games that are fully designed, developed, and produced in China, thus excluding titles developed on international licenses.

Top 2018 Nintendo Switch Games for Girls
30 New Games For Girls on the Nintendo Switch in 2018
One of the most popular posts on this site is our Top 2017 Nintendo Switch Games for Girls
With a new year, I decided to take a look at the upcoming releases for the Switch in 2018 and make a few suggestions as to what games girls should be looking out for in the year ahead. (There may be a few games that released in Q4 of 2017 also on this list as I wasn’t sure of a few of the release dates). Enjoy! And leave me a comment to let me know what games you’re looking forward to on the Switch in 2018. 🙂 I’ll also soon add a list like this for PS4 and PC games as well.
Top 2018 Nintendo Switch Games For Girls
1.) Project Octopath Traveler
youtube
Originally scheduled for a 2017 release, and part of our Top 2017 Nintendo Switch Games for Girls list, Octopath Traveler blends gameplay elements from 16 and 32 bit classics such as Chronotrigger and Saga Frontier. The retro game feel is sure to appeal to many visitors of this site. But that’s not all, Project Octopath Traveler also offers a variety of endings and a branching plot line that is shaped by decisions you make within the game.
 2.) Kirby Star Allies
youtube
He’s pink, cute, and the gameplay is fun. Kirby has been a fan favorite of Nintendo gamers for several decades now. In his new adventure, up to four players can join in and you can combine different power ups, as demonstrated in the Nintendo Direct Video above.
3.) Toe Jam & Earl Back in the Groove
youtube
Toe Jam & Earl was a childhood favorite of mine. I spent countless hours (or days, or weeks) playing the original two games on Sega Genesis with my best friend. It’s one of the best multiplayer games of my childhood and this new take on the classic, originally slated for 2017, will grace Switch consoles now in 2018. For those unfamillar with the franchise, you run around colorful crazy worlds with zany characters and crazy powerups playing as 2 funky hiphop aliens.
4.) My Time At Portia
youtube
My Time At Portia is a cross platform title that features sandbox gameplay in a large open world enviornment. It blends together many gameplay elements from Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, Rune Factory, and Atelier. In this game you can raise animals, grow crops, and restore an abandoned workshop. The developers say the game takes place in a post apocalyptic world where humans are few and that you search for relics from the past to create inventions for the betterment of society. Also just like in Harvest Moon and similar games, all of the NPCs have their own schedules, they will go to work, school, and have their own stories for you to discover by interacting with them.
5.) Avabel Online
youtube
This is perhaps an interesting one to make the list. Avabel Online is a free to play MMORPG that is already available on many platforms, including Android and IOS devices which makes it already portable and playable on the go. Despite that, I’m including it in the list because I do think the gameplay will appeal to girls. Right now, for example, they are running a special Sanrio promotion (makers of hello kitty). You can get cute (sometimes strange) items to decorate your house or dress up your characters. https://avabelonline.com/landing/sanrio
6.) Moonlighter
youtube
A Shopkeeping RPG Simulation game with retro style graphics. You can explore and fight for valueable treasure, as well as craft your own items, and then sell them in your shop. You can also communicate with the NPCs to discover what items they want to purchase. The dungeons are procedurally generated and present new challenges and new loot each time.
7.) Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings
youtube
Coming in March 2018, Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings is the first Atelier title to hit the Nintendo Switch. Atelier games focus on gathering ingredients and crafting new items. As you can see from the trailer, they feature beautiful anime graphics, and deep stories. Their gameplay is often long, and at times it can get tedious, however, for those who love crafting and exploring, Atelier offers the ultimate crafting system.
8.) Destiny Chronicles
youtube
This game looks beautiful, and it is inspired by many classic JRPGs. It features action combat and extensive skill tree customization as well as a light hearted humorous story line. You can enchant and upgrade your equipment, as well as interact with your party members and NPCs.
9.) Revenant Saga
youtube
With a level cap of 999, and tons of equipment to collect, Revenant Saga looks to offer some incredible replay value. The ability to tranform in battle and unleash special powers makes combat fun and exciting. While the cute and colorful graphics and dark fantasy story are sure to appeal to fans of classic JRPGs.
10.) Wonderboy: Dragon’s Trap
youtube
This remake of Wonderboy III lets you play as a girl. It also lets you toggle between the original Sega Genesis graphics and soundtrack, or the all new graphics and soundtracks created for this release.
11.) Untold Legacy
youtube
The retro style graphics appeal to me (and probably most of the readers of my blog). But what really appeals to me is this statement that the Devs make about the storyline: “You will be brought to tears as you uncover the twists and turns in this emotionally story-driven experience that will leave you shocked and surprised as you discover the secrets the world of Touchstone has to offer.” – I am a sucker for a heart tugging story. The Devs also indicate that “The Untold Legacy sets out to recreate some of the most heartfelt and gut wrenching moments imaginable.” These two statements make me very interested in this game.
12.) Yoshi
youtube
This game features an art style similar to Paper Mario, and the main character is the lovable, Yoshi, the green dinosaur who first debuted in Super Mario World. The colorful graphics and addictive platformer style gameplay make this game perfect for our list of 2018 Nintendo Switch Games for Girls.
13.) Croixleur Sigma
youtube
With a 9/10 and “Very Positive” Rating on Steam, this anime style hack-n-slash RPG is coming to Switch in 2018. The gameplay is reminicessent of several of the newer Hyper Dimension Neptunia games. The local 2 player co-op makes it perfect for the Nintendo Switch. And playing as the cute anime girls make it a game girls will love to play together.
14.) Your Four Knight Princess Training Story
youtube
A “Raising Sim” similar to games such as Princess Maker and Graduation 95. Gematsu has an excellent article detailing how you will train your princess in this new 2018 Nintendo Switch Game. Basically it involves scolding or praising your princess at various times, for example during conversations or while exploring dungeons. The story and characters change based on your decisions and how you raise your princess. The princesses each have various parameters that you can train to unlock new skills or increase their stats to help them in battle.
15.) Legrand Legacy Tale of the Fatebounds
youtube
Legrand Legacy Tale of the Fatebounds is an impressive indie title with full 3D cinematics and FMV cutscenes. It features tactical turn based combat and interesting city building and mini game mechanics. I’m really looking forward to this title which releases later this month (January 2018).
16.) Shin Megami Tensei V
youtube
I haven’t taken time to organize these recommendations in any kind of “ranking” system, but if I had to pick just one game on this list to play in 2018 it would be Shin Megami Tensei V. Atlus’ dark RPG franchise that sparked the Persona spin off games is one of my favorites.
17.) Tohou Sky Arena Gensoukyou Kuusen Hime
youtube
This looks like an anime brawler with cute girls and exciting special moves. It’s visually very pretty and looks like combat will be fun too.
18.) Valkyria Chronicles 4
youtube
A new title in the tactical Strategy RPG series, Valkyria Chronicles. I’m a huge fan of this series, and this one looks great. It’s due out in March 2018. Valkyria Chronicles is a Sega series known for excellent characters and story lines as well as fun Strategy RPG combat.
19.) The Longest Five Minutes
youtube
This humorous RPG launches in February 2018. The tale begins at the end, as you are facing the demon king, but suddenly you’ve lost all of your memories. From there, regain your memories, remember who you are, where you’re from, where you’re going, and your reason for fighting the demon king. The cute and colorful graphics and retro feel are sure to appeal to my readers.
20.) Mulaka
youtube
With gameplay reminiscent of Zelda or Castlevania, this action RPG features a story and game world that draw inspiration from Mexican culture. The gameplay trailer above shows various abilities and fighting styles, including the ability to transform into different animals.
21.) Yono and the Celestial Elephants
youtube
How could this game NOT make our list??! Look at that elephant. LOOK AT IT!! Has there ever been a cuter video game character in the history of video games? Nope. This adorable little game looks kawaii and charming AF and seems to have some fun puzzles to solve too.
22.) Wandersong
youtube
Play as a traveling bard in this cute, happy, colorful paper-cut-out style world. Coming in early 2018.
23.) Goragoa
youtube
This puzzle game features gorgeous artwork and requires some outside the box thinking. The soundtrack is also lovely and I’ve heard the story is quite sad as well.
24.) Wargroove
youtube
Wargroove promises to be easy to pick up, but difficult to master. Up to 4 players can take control of an army and command it to victory. The colorful retro style graphics really look great and gameplay looks fun and interesting.
25.) Penny Punching Princess
youtube
An Action RPG in Which Money Makes the World Go Round. That’s what Nintendo has to say about their latest RPG that lets you bribe monsters to fight for you. Many are comparing this game to Tingle’s Rosy Rupee Land – a game which I’ve never played (nor even heard of).  The colorful and cute graphics caught my eye. I’ll be checking this one out in 2018.
26.) Fallen Legion: Rise to Glory
youtube
Nintendo promises new content and features in this release. “Combining both Fallen Legion: Flames of Rebellion and Fallen Legion: Sins of an Empire for the first time on one console, Fallen Legion: Rise to Glory includes all new art, Exemplars, monsters, bosses and challenges not found in the original releases. I’d somehow not heard of this game until now, so now seems the perfect time to pick this one up.
27.) Lost Sphear
youtube
From the creators of I am Setsuna, comes a new JRPG for the Nintendo Switch in 2018.
28.) Dragon Quest Builders
youtube
Originally part of the 2017 Top Nintendo Switch Games for Girls, this title got pushed back to February 2018.
29.) Mega Man 11
youtube
Fan favorite, and often requested, a new sequel in the Mega Man franchise is arriving on Nintendo Switch in late 2018.
30.) Bayonetta 3 – NINTENDO SWITCH EXCLUSIVE
youtube
Perhaps one of the most exciting announcements, and why I saved it for last, is that a new Bayonetta Game has been announced and it will be available ONLY for the Nintendo Switch.

OBAN Star Racers 15th Anniversary
Hi fellow Oban fans!
As I said in a previous post, today was the celebration of Oban’s 15th anniversary, which was held in Paris in a little cinema. It was obviously hosted by Savin Yeatman-Eiffel himself, as well as Stanislas Brunet who worked on the mecha and background designs.
So it went like this: Savin made a presentation about the series in itself, how the idea came to be, the first sketches made by himself and his friends, and all the struggles he and Sav! The World studios faced during the production. The hardest part was finding funds to produce the series, since making a single episode can cost up to half a millions euros.
The French VAs of Molly and Aikka were there too, and they redubbed one of the scenes live! The funniest part was that the guy who did Aikka’s voice is a tall, bearded, burly guy with the kind of voice you’d expect from a dude with that build; and yet when he did Aikka’s part I was speechless!!! Then Savin invited two people in stage to redo the dub for fun. The girl who did it had a voice that strangely sounded like Molly’s, but the poor guy who did Aikka’s part probably didn’t remember the passage well despite the subtitles and stammered a lot. But it was nice!
Savin had planned to talk about The Two Queens movie but he didn’t have the time. I asked him about the project afterwards, and he told me that he still wanted to do it, but like Oban, he had troubles funding it. By the time he pitched it, Netflix was not into funding indie projects yet. He also started working on other projects with several studios so The Two Queens had to unfortunately be put on stand-by.
And then. OH THEN. He talked about the thing we ALL wanted to know:
The Sequel
Savin explicitly asked us to not film or take pictures, so I won’t talk about it in detail. But basically there is not one, but THREE project ideas:
1) A sequel based on the picture released back in 2017 with a brand-new plot but still related to the Oban lore. He doesn’t know if the girl would be Molly or Molly’s descendant.
2) An Aikka spin-off prequel. I WAS SO HYPED.
3) A sequel where Molly takes up on Aikka’s offer to visit his planet.
He tested the waters to see which project seemed to please us the most, which was project 1 - I told him, to quote my own words “I’m team Aikka, so my hype for the second project is HELLA BIG, but I honestly won’t care I’m willing to pull out the chekbook as long as it’s Oban related” - and project 2 was rather popular but we suggested he switched media (like making a comic).
I asked him the same question I asked Thomas Romain when I met him at the Japan Expo Sud back in 2018: could we help funding it through Kickstarter for example? Unfortunately, like the original series, we’re talking about millions of euros here so we can’t help that much.
Then we moved on to the next part: VIDEO GAMES. There was a Nintendo DS game originally planned but the studio let him down at the last minute. He showed us some footage of the game which looked quite good (mid-2000s DS game relatively speaking).
He also officially announced that today was released an Oban fangame via Playstation Dreams called Oban Star Racers Dreams by Sky Isle Studios.
There’s also another game - still in its project phase - for PC which would hopefully be released in a few years.
Last but not least: if you guys follow Savin Yeatman-Eiffel on twitter, you might know that he got back the rights of Oban and has been gradually collecting the dubs that had been made (apparently the Brazilian release stopped at ep 18, which means they never got the end!!) to re-release the series as blu-ray. The said blu-ray collection will be up on Kickstarter in Frebruary 2022, with several stretch goals and packs - from the complete OST digital release to packs with original drawings and figurines - so stay tuned!
Although he knows the fandom never died, Savin hopes that we can gather new people and touch a larger public. I suggested for example to release the show on Netflix, because it will find some new public!
